Hey, fa/tg/uys
What is some inane woke stuff, you can use in your campaigns? Lately, I have come upon a gem that is Witcher 4 and amazing "Rats". They are a group of thieves that "steal from the rich and give to the poor". I intend to use that in my campaign.
A group of NPCs is doing exactly that:
- local baker gets robbed twice, gets out of bussiness
- local moneylender too - all loans to nearby farms stop
- local barrons coffer of wealth has been stolen: he is now unable to pay the guards, who are abandoning their posts and turning mercenaries and even bandits. Crime rises

PCs will get a chance to find these NPCs, who are deeply convinced, they are "bringing down the system".

So: What other similar bs can be applied to campaigns under "actions have consequences" chapter?

The worst part about the Chaos always wins faggotry is GW is increasingly implying that Chaos has won in other universes besides Fantasy and 40k, and they're only in the 40k universe right now to quickly wrap up their harvesting of it as the Milky Way was the end all be all of an entire universe full of galaxies. GW doesn't understand its own setting, that 40k takes place in a very small corner of its own universe and the Warp is unique to the Milky Way at least in how we understand it as a domain ruled by the Four Chaos Gods plus the Eldar Pantheon and the Gork and Mork running around. Before the Old ones created the Orks, Eldar, and maybe Humanity; the Warp was a completely different place - a place that is inconsistent with implications like "Oh Slaanesh always existed after the Eldar birthed him". Uh, no. We know for a fact there was a time before Slaanesh, a time before Khorne, and so on - and if you go back far enough you hit the Old One era of the Warp when it was calm, and if you go too far outside the Milky Way then the Warp doesn't so much as 'end' as it becomes the Warp of some other galaxy and all their alien bullshit.

I don't know if /bgg/ is just full of small groups or what, but no, it doesn't work out that way. What happens in reality is that it's extremely easy to onboard people to shorter, simpler games, so you end up getting a greater proportion of the group familiar with your games more quickly. This translates to significant amounts of time wasted on rules teaches. Worse, this synergizes with the hotness slop consumer end of the spectrum. One is less inclined to notice how much time one is wasting on the teaches if they're constantly buying new games and forgetting them by the time anyone returns to them, if at all.

Yea, and this one has wires to account for the difference in design. The regular gun has the battery pack attached directly to the barrel and is therefore bigger, the NL praetor has a smaller, wrist mounted, version that instead moves the power-pack to their back and connects it via wires.

Decided to try something different for trainers - instead of having the same card back as other cards on each deck, trainers will have their own trainer depicted on the card's back and their pokemon on the front once you draw the card

The idea here is that, like the game, you would see the trainer ahead of you, and sometimes you might choose to go for it or not (depending what you got going on in your turn)

The pokemon on the front side will of course match the trainer but won't be always the same for the same type of trainer - a bug catcher might have a caterpie or a weedle or any other bug

Yes! The game is so simple/raw in terms of card design, that I have to be creative to balance things. In that sense, I can nerf a card by making its normal attack a lower damage (or removing it entirely, like Magneton), while as you mentioned, I can buff a card by adding a 3rd move of another type (and that move's strength is also something I can tweak)

Yes... one of the challenges of this project is making a game through to Gen 1, which though is a great game, its definitely quite unbalanced in many ways (including the ghost/dragon examples you mentioned). If I was creating a brand new game from scratch, I would have made the types (both in quantity as well as resistance/weakness) probably quite symmetrical (I'm a big MtG fan so that's my default way to approach games)

One thing I'm a bit unclear on here is how you organize the trainer's teams. Like would the Bug Catchers just have a shrunken-down version of their teams on the opposite face of the card? I'm not quite sure how the formatting is meant to work.

The way it works is that in pretty much all NPC battles, be it a random trainer or a gym leader, the NPC only uses 1 pokemon. You as a player can use as many pokemons as you want/need

This seems silly but since combat in this game is so flakey/swingy, you typically have 1~2 pokemons that have good advantage against the enemy and even they typically only have like 40~60% chance of winning (especially against gym leaders that are very strong). Therefore, a single strong pokemon can sweep your whole team if you end up rolling poor on your best option

With that in mind, the way that those trainers here >>97093277 work is that each deck (based on the left card, which is the "back" of the trainer card):
>Level 1 deck (green) have 5 trainers (3 bug catchers, 2 youngsters)
>Level 2 deck (green/blue) have 10 trainers of 4 different types
>Level 3 deck (blue) have 10 trainers of 3 different types
>Level 4 deck (blue/red) have 10 trainers (all rocket grunts)

Therefore, you can actually tell there's a trainer incoming (which mimics how in the game, you see them stand in the way). You can't, however, know exactly what pokemon they will bring out. The level 1 bugcatcher can either use a caterpie, a weedle or a metapod (but it will be only 1 pokemon). As you get to level 4, you are less likely to predict what you're facing since they all have the same Rocket back

If magic is overly effective, deadly, and can ritualistically assassinate or control people anonymously from afar, then duels between wizards would be closer to rocket tag, hunkering down in bunkers, manipulation of proxies and influencing politics (perhaps even geopolitics), making direct confrontation between wizards unwise, or just horrific to behold (sorcery can be quite scary and ruinous), unless a wizard knows for certain that they'll triumph without any consequences.

And also the Pathfinder game I ran where the characters were pretty much unstoppable. The only opponents who could stand up to them were those who cast mind blank to avoid getting "scry-n-fried" by the characters. They would just scry on someone til they rolled a nat1 on their saves, then teleport in and gank them. It was retarded. They even used Wish spell to bypass a mind blank once, but there was a roll of 1d10 and 1d4 for how many hours/days/months/years they could be in stasis. Fortunately only ended up being a week missed out. But still even with that, it's ridiculous. High level D&D magic users conflicts is just hiding from each others' divinations and having decoys everywhere.

Moorcock was certainly trying to make something "answering" fantasy fiction at the time, tough I would guess it was waaaaaay more directed towards Tolkien than REH.
But the point is: Elric came out in 1961 (25 years after the last OG Conan's story and a whopping 64 years ago). He's not only a classic, but your grandfather's classic. At this point he's no more a subversion than, I dunno, Sergio Leone "subverting" western movies.

(besides, while Elric as a character is clearly trying -and I would say succeding- to be something different from Conan or Kull, his stories aren't that different. They do have a more surreal vibe and all, but then Jirel's stories did in the time of REH)

Yeah you guys were right, I asked around a bit to get an idea of what’s going in here. Girl was a teaching assistant, stay-at-home mother, father works at a mine nearby. Turns out the cops haven’t talked to them yet. Friend of the victim said the she was seen walking home alone after having dinner. That was around 6:30-7:00 pm. It was also raining and dark by then. I walked from the friend’s house over to the victim’s. Took me about 30 mins, walking quickly. The route takes me down a dirt road close to where they found her in a field, past the mine where the dad works, and then to another residential area where she lived. Farmer found her some time in the morning, cops arrived 20-30 mins later. It’s not much but I don’t got anything else. She didn’t say anything weird or act out lately, she was just a normal girl, and she didn’t seem to have any enemies. Could’ve been stalking her or just shit luck. God, idk.

I also went back to the crime scene, which wasn’t cordoned off at all, and there was nothing useful there. My source told me the cops in this town aren’t used to shit like this and they showed up to the crime scene that had already been tampered with by the local farmers and kids unwittingly. I’m starting to get the feeling that this whole town is going to be a pain in my ass.

Maybe you’re right, I thought it was some sort of werewolf thing because of the wounds but maybe I shouldn’t jump the gun. The rain also makes me think has a physical form. Maybe it’s smart enough to attack when the evidence can be washed away. Also hard to see shit in the rain and with the sun setting early. It could be a coincidence. If it’s some kind of ghost, I’m even less prepared.

I’m going to camp out on one of the buildings at this mine once everyone goes home. Good view of the fields from up here, maybe I’ll see something with my NVGs and rifle. Probably won't see anything, but I'd feel even shittier sitting at home.

No photo of the killer, miscommunication, my bad. I have a photo of the victim's body and of the crime scene. Pretty bad wounds. Think something like an animal did it, with all the tearing and possible teeth marks. And it was big, but no normal animal would go around doing shit like this. Just doesn't make sense. So I got practically nothing. No hairs, no DNA, no footprints in the mud, I don't know what it looks like. All I got is 7:00-8:00 pm, raining and dark when it happened, and big fuck off claws and teeth-- or something that can emulate those types of wounds. I'm just stuck here waiting for it to pop up again, wishing I had fucking magical powers or some shit to lead me to whatever this thing is.

The stakeout is a good idea, it might return to the area. If that turns up nothing, I'd suggest you start talking to people. If this is a small "golly gee whiz" kind of town (honestly, it's nice to hear those places still exist), people talk. I'm not very good at social maneuvering myself BUT, it's pretty much the only way to narrow down who could've killed her if you have no material evidence.

Here's hoping you get a hit before this thing causes any more damage.

Been thinking of that. But is CompTIA gonna cut it anymore with so many Jeets around? I'm pretty good with computers, setting them up plugging them in etc, but networking stuff I am not hugely knowledgeable about, and I still ask my brother for help when I build a computer.

I was looking through the treasure trove archives and literally every time someone requests a gamebook, it gets ignored.

What happened? What created this huge downfall? They didn't use to be this niche. Is it cause of video games? Gamebooks are comfier.
