Going to add that I made a bunch of custom fillable PDF sheets for 3.5e a while ago. Base classes, initiators, ToM classes, and Incarnum. And monster/NPC cardsYou can get them from the Mega here https://mega.nz/folder/KzQEVIgR#4nwVAarctcQf6-skAMau-A
I was looking up if anyone played much with the adventure I am currently reading - Rappan Athuk. Found that there is a channel still going with a small hobby group, playing through it using 3.5 rules.Neetersoft Gaming. If anyone wants to listen to some live playhttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUBGgfRz1mwD2Wcpi73CuUA0ID3Fasrqd
How do i stop from playing too careful? I always imagine that my characters would want to avoid taking unnecessary risks to minimize the odds of, you know, dying, but that tends to stunt my roleplay and engagement with the worldsI have tried playing idiots or daredevils, but the sense of self preservation is always too strong

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help: >n00b DM's Guidehttps://pastebin.com/EVvt6P0B>n00b Player's Handbookhttps://pastebin.com/XALkXkV0 >Troves, Resources, Blogs, etc:http://pastebin.com/9fzM6128 >Need a starter dungeon? >>97390578I use it, yeah. But I've only used it for the intended 6-mile hexes, so I'm not sure about conversions.
>>97390578>>97390750If I were to use it, I wouldn't convert it at all, I'd just use it as is. In fact, I treat all 5-mile hexes as 6 miles if I'm playing B/X, and all 6-mile hexes as 5 miles if I'm playing AD&D. No reason to get a headache over it.

I'd always liked the idea of Custodes but I think they did a much better job of fleshing out SoS in book 7.Like I say, you could make them the backbone of a new Astra Telepathica force. I mean, fuck, chaos has been painted as the big bad for the past decade or more, you'd think they'd be fielding the one part of the Imperium that has the cheat code for dealing with them. We could have some batshit powerful psykers on the table flanked by Black Sentinels with SoS acting as a spearhead. If they can make up a lore reason to suddenly turn the Custodes into an expeditionary force ($$$), then theres nothing stopping them from doing something interesting with SoS.

>>97371332Cool, I'm glad things are actively being worked on. That being said, having so many factions almost seems a bit worrying when a lot of the existing ones seem a little barebones, and I wonder if such a small company isn't stretching itself quite thin. In the last few years I feel like Mantic really hurt itself by unveiling new games and factions all the time while leaving their core products without updates or refreshes for years on end. Could say the same thing for Corvus Belli with their endless Kickstarters as well but it seems like they've refocused themselves now.I do think there's a lot of potential in HGB that could be tapped with some marketing, documentation and quality eye-catching sculpts. Hopefully the game brings some more eyes.

What's the most "modern" a fantasy setting can feel without it feeling forced or weird?
Depends on the system.
>>97390879Pretty modern I think. For example - I'm not a LoL player so I can't say for their overarching setting for sure, but Arcane was pretty futuristic and fantasy at the same time. It didn't feel forced.Anyways, off to the worldbuilding general with you.
What kind of tampons do you think they have in the Golden Throne palace complex on Terra in Warhammer 40k?
>>97390827>It also called the Emperor the guardian of humanity.Doesn't in any way make him much less the imperium heroic.
>>97390827Humanity in 40K has been enslaved by a barely-human psychic immortal and his technologically advanced super-soldiers. It was not a peaceful takeover, it was a galactic crusade that spilled oceans of blood on planets that didn't want to be part of the Imperium. Humans across the galaxy are consumed as resources for his benefit, which is claimed to be the benefit of mankind as a whole. What's the difference between being the Emperor's slave and being worked to death on a mining world, or being an alien's slave and being worked to death on a mining world?
>>97390881Already said I'm tired of arguing with you, leftoid. You'll just have to settle for telling yourself you won. Good job.

Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.
>>97386586lmao TRASH
I win last post
>>97364176>A character focused entirely on crafting can be perfectly balanced with any other concept in a game designed by professionals instead of incompetent retards.Name five games where this has actually been achieved.
>>97364176Crafting is powerful and this doesn't depend on the game. As long as you're playing a human being, regardless of the size of their ears, crafting is the single most powerful thing they can do.
Crafting is not a major issue in my system, because wealth doesn't translate directly into power. Player characters only need vast amounts of wealth if they want to improve their social standing, if they like the idea of engaging in businesses, buying warships to become privateers or something similar to that.

>>97387352Brown.Prompted me to check though and that before the goblin green bases with plain goblin green brushed sand/flock topping for everything era, base rims seemed to be largely just complimentary to what was on top. So a lot of brown bases. Some black rim bases, some green rims sometimes quite dark green. Quite a lot of variety in bases that got smushed out by the goblin green standardisation.
>>97387352I think green rim works better with the pure green top, black would be better if it had some brown patches or little stones on top too

>>97376496Absolute Timing is more automatic than the personal computer. If you wanted to know how long it takes to do something but only have the PC perk then you would need to take some effort (probably concentrate maneuvers) to bring up a "timer" application and then set and stop a timer. With absolute timing you just watch someone do something and go "that took 15 minutes and 30 seconds".The PC timer would be more accurate, though, if seconds or fractions of a second mattered.
