Should my 52nd Shadow Division aerospace assets be painted up as part of the 52nd, or as part of the Word of Blake Fleet?
I quite like the idea of having an element of "fleet support" in my army, but the Shadow Divisions had their own aerospace forces made up of Manei Domini so they should be painted like the rest of the 52nd, right?
>>
>>97829823
They could always just be calling on assets beyond their dedicated air support.

Paint their Spectral Series flyers up as 52nd, then anything else as part of WoBF/WoBM. That makes sense to me, at least.

It's illegal to review a product you were paid to review, without disclosing this. It's a form of fraud. The fact that TTRPGs and tiny YouTube channels are generally beneath the FTC's notice (especially with the current admin's pro-crime stance) doesn't change this.

If the person had previously posted reviews without disclosing his material connection to the producer, then it is totally reasonable to believe he reviews things for free.

If we gonna talk about class viability, Warlock is kind of a dead party slot a lot of the time. Even with the stupid amount of riders you can slap on Eldritch Blast, you mostly amount to Ranger+. Pact Slots are just too variable in effectiveness without other options like Paladin's Divine Smite or Sorcerer's Sorcery Points to expend them on, as the Warlock Spell List is very hit-or-miss. The Pacts are too incomplete without your subclass (read: Blade). You don't have Shield training or enough slots to toss in a Shield consistently, so you are squishy as hell even for caster standards. Sure, other classes like Wizard and Cleric definitely skew the 5.5e caster viability ratings and they aren't as fucked as something like Ranger, there isn't a lot scenarios where a Warlock would actually help you win without extraneous circumstances (read: repelling blast a foe off a cliff).

Basically, people like playing Warlock not because it's a good or coherent class, but because the ideas are flexible enough and mechanics exploitable enough that they can be anything they want. Even if most of the time they are dead weight. So the problem with 2e's chasing the dragon's tail in regards to this is that it can't provide either flexibility or exploitation in a class chassis like that, leading to the gaping flaws in Magus and Psychic's kits (not sure the problem with Kineticist).

Laser sights in this game seem rather strong. Is there any good reason for a character to not use a laser sight in a setting that includes them?

Aether engines are likewise a similarly affordable, global +1 item bonus to some important piece of equipment. In a game with Pathfinder 2e math, this counts for a lot.

This has to be the funniest piece of artwork in Warden. "You can play a knight in a fantasy setting, an old-timey newsboy (or just someone in San Francisco), an anime schoolgirl, or typewriting and herb-eating Leon Kennedy."
>>
>>97829712
Kineticist explodes when it finds anything with immunities, anything with high ac, anything with passable saves, or skill checks of any variety.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

>>
>>97829751
>Some weapons (primarily polearms), possessing both a point and a cutting blade or blunt head, can be employed in two distinct manners: cleaving and thrusting. Even when a cleave is impossible or hazardous due to nearby companions or tight spaces, one may always resort to a thrusting attack.
I guess. I feel like that's getting a bit too granular, but if you find it rewarding, why not. Go nuts. I might suggest handling that ad-hoc using common sense though. (Also, my feeling is that if attacks are can be made as though with a spear spacewise, damage should reflect that and also be that of a spear, or even worse since it's a backup usage, otherwise it has a flavor of taking the advantage of the halfberd and passing up the drawback.)

>That’s what I was thinking. If a weapon is more than twice as long as the other...
It seems excessive to force several attacks. The way I would do it would be something closer to just letting the longer weapon attack first and if the shorter weapon attack succeeds, instead of inflicting damage the wielder has entered into his own optimal distance, I think. Potentially if the longer weapon is extremely long it might require more than one successful attack, but I can't see how that would come up in practice in a dungeon environment.

I also wouldn't use a divisor like "twice as long", because it gives bizarre results (a dagger will never be fully ranged out by a short sword because both are just too short weapons relative to the length of the arm; nor do you need a 12-foot polearm to outrange a halberd). Instead, it should be tied to a flat numerical difference, >3 length categories apart for example.

DESU i would not go with either, Vet breachers are already REALLY expensive. if you are going a full 10 man, power fist on SGT, and 4 cutters, thats a lot of points, that 75 points in those 5 weapons alone. I would just give them either chain axes or chain swords and use them as ablative wounds for the las cutters to 1 shot things.

Gearhead thread but for /tg/

Part of why I like to play ttrpg's is the analog aspect. I prefer to keep all digital things out of the experience. No laptops, ipads, phones at the table. Well, an exception can be made for googling something quick, but other than that, keep that shit in your pocket.

I like to do my gm prep, world building, drawing maps, in notebooks. npc and character sheets etc.on paper.

I really like MUJI stationery. Their notebooks are really nice, and their pens and pencils are amazing.

I recently found some hex paper notebooks on amazon. That was really nice to use to draw some hex maps.

Do you have any neat stationery or other analog "gear" that you really like? Could you share some of your cool items or showcase your note taking system or maps or whatever?

I prefer Clairefontain or Rhodia paper, but I've used Muji and it's good. Most of my inks are Diamine or J. Herbin. My Pilot Custom 823s are my workhorse pens that I use most days. One is a fine and another a medium. Of course, they're Japanese, so even the medium is more like a fine. I also have a doublebroad that I sent to a nibsmith to turn into a stub that's about a .6 or .7--never really measured it. But I like it a lot. It adds just the tiniest bit of flare. In this pic is the Diamine Blue Lightning currently in my 823 Fine, which is what I write w/ more than anything else. I've also got a sterling Mont Blanc in there which I leave in my notebook because I also am a business type and in meetings and I want people to know I'm a snob (the cap is unmistakable). Also in the picture is my Visconti Il Magnifico Calacatta. It's easily my very-favorite, most-beautiful pen. It's made of marble and gold. It also weighs about sevent hundred and twenty-one pounds, so I don't use it for every day writing. I've really loved some of Ferris Wheel's inks since they came about, but they're incredibly hit or miss and their misses are by a wide margin. Oh it's a Gorham bookmark on the cornor of my Triomphe notebook.

>>97809069

But I wanted a city map to match and came across the etsy dude who makes these.
>>

Utterly based thread. Good job, OP.
If you want hex paper for maps try to get stock where the lines aren't black but grey.
>>
Anyone ever done a character sheet that really is a notebook? Like putting all the info that would be on the sheet into the notebook. And to use the notebook sort of as a journal of sorts as well?

I think it could be cool as hell.
>>
>>97829724
I've ran a mini-campaign (8 sessions) once where I made like that for my players, it was half investigation, half political intrigue focused. Each player got a small notebook of sorts (around 10 pages) with their faction logo/colours on the cover, a character sheet and city map on the first pages and then the rest reserved for notes.

The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.

Glad to see some warzone talk, ended up cancelling yesterday's game that I promised to report on, couldn't pin down a scenario even after pinching ideas from Chronicles back issues and 40k2e mission cards and just stressing over it left me feeling burnt out and not wanting to play. So my mate and I have pushed it to next week instead. I did some painting today to clear my head and I think I'll just focus on hobby stuff this long weekend instead. Paint some more corpo soldiers and build some terrain.

it's a narrative that goes nowhere or a setting that feels like it's constantly shifting.
It always moves, it goes nowhere
>>
>>97829612
so the players, not just for WH or 40K, used to influence their games through official tourneys and battle reports. Certain models being produced, rules coming about, faction changes could have a reason from there. 40k has kind of done away with that and now instead of marines doing some nonsense, it's the same named marine or primarch or commissar doing it to the point we're gonna see em team up in a novel series eventually.

I'm kinda hoping the rise of 3d printing we'll see something like that again, since even small games can get that going.

>Option 2: a female lich with magic jar spell and a harem of kidnapped hotties, who decided to experiment with lust magics

or is there some rules for this somewhere akin to flying where you can make only limited turns afterwards?

I gotta agree. He was just some quirk chungus protoss redditor. Extremely cringe. Most of the characters in Legacy of the Void are shit. Alarak is the only truly based character. Vorazun and Selendis are barely characters in themselves, Vorazun at least gets some development but Selendis is just forgotten. Artanis is a libshit cuck that throws away all traditions of the Protoss, Zeratul fucking dies, Fenix is back as a fucking ugly as sin robot (the purifier aesthetics are trash) and that preserver lady barely counts as a character either and ultimately just sacrifices all the protoss history and rejects the Khala because Artanis tells her to.

It is so fucking gay.
Aldaris was right.
