Thread question:
Do your elves get in trouble a lot? How?

just IMO dark elf x elf is way more interesting than human x elf because at this point it seems elves are just long lived humans with pointy ears and interchangeable cultures and at least dark elves, being the token evil race, have a vastly different outlook in life and a different culture
>>
>>97845828
I agree, I have written the only elf male/dark elf female story on AO3
>>
>>97845744
Yeah, but that's my point. The characters don't have to be elves to make the story interesting, at this point it's just fashion.
It's obviously not wrong, but it seems kinda of a waste if you're going to introduce fantasy races that act like a human would.
>>
>>97845828
I like human x elf more, personally. Dark Elves are just edgier elves, frankly.
>>
>>97846172
most fantasy races are more like facets of humanity
you could make them utterly alien to humans, but that steps into the realm of the fae

at that point, just make your elves 3-feet tall and spend all their time baking cookies and making toys for reasons man cant grasp

Last time I even touched Yugioh was roughly 6 years ago, should I even bother coming back? Yesterday I found my old Rokket Revolt structure deck, and I obtained a few new Rokket cards from a few booster packs I bought a few days ago. Can I make that archetype work for a casual deck for local games?

>Astral Shard
>This crystal is a solidified shard of the Astral Plane, swirling with silver mist. As an action, you can attach the shard to a Tiny object (such as a weapon or a piece of jewelry) or detach it. It falls off if your attunement to it ends. You can use the shard as a spellcasting focus while you hold or wear it.
"While you hold or wear it."
Attaches to a Tiny object.

>Ioun Stone, Reserve
>Roughly marble sized, Ioun Stones are named after Ioun, a god of knowledge and prophecy revered on some worlds. Many types of Ioun Stones exist, each type a distinct combination of shape and color.
>Each Ioun Stone orbiting your head is considered to be an object you are wearing. The orbiting stone avoids contact with other creatures and objects, adjusting its orbit to avoid collisions and thwarting all attempts by other creatures to attack or snatch it.
Marble sized (Tiny?). Considered to be worn while orbiting. Avoids all attempts by anybody else to attack or snatch it.

If I were to attach a shard (spellcasting focus) to an ioun stone, would that mean not only can I use the shard as a focus without needing to hold it in one hand (because it is on an ioun stone, being worn, but ioun stones do not need to be actually touching you to count as being worn, just orbiting), but because of how 5.5e works, does it also mean that nobody could even take it away while the ioun stone is attuned since it's attached to a thing that will dodge any attempt to try and take it from me, even if I'm sleeping or unconscious?

Seems a bit niche, but could be a useful way to free up a spare hand and keep your spellcasting focus safe.
>>
>>97846124
It's a bit dubious but I think it works.
>Seems a bit niche, but could be a useful way to free up a spare hand and keep your spellcasting focus safe.
Quite niche, since there are already a lot of ways to ensure you've got a hand free or otherwise circumvent that for most spellcasters. It is pretty stylish to have your spellcasting focus be an orbiting crystal though. Good for anyone who wants to flavor themselves as a psionic character.

Why is "Don't overprepare" such common advise given to DMs? sometimes it seems like people are allergic to putting effort into building adventures. Railroading typically happens when a DM is underprepared for their sessions.

Essentially, he wanted to GM but thought he could make it all up on the fly and failed. And it was kind of a frustrating experience on both ends.

>>97845946
I’ll agree there. He did admit after the game that he had no clue how much prep work went into this stuff and kept putting it off until game day, which is the real indicator of how badly he’d have tried to railroad even if he was working off a module. Still just wanted to relate a time where someone was railroading with clearly zero prep.
>>
I would replace "Don't overprepare" with "Prepare to be Unprepared" as the go-to advice. Your players will be doing shit you have not prepared for and you should always be ready to seat-of-your-pants wing the fuck out of a session

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

My big issue with current kill team is that it is much harder to make a "your dudes" list. It is kind of all about the rotation now. The game is fine played causally, but you do get weird rulings like this.
>>97845724

It could be my local shop though, as even "casual" games get people miffed if you did not rebase 100s of old ork models, or use old models in general. You also only see hyper competitive lists now.

Also an sidefekt of the missing listbuilding what is part of the mussung variety of the games. If you play against one player playing breacher it feels like you played against most people playing breacher, they all feel kinda the same.

space or sword weirdos, depending on preference for fantasy or scifi
they are very simple but very good with enough customization that's also easy to expand yourself once you get the hang of the game

something a bit more complex would be Fantastic Scuffles or Brutality Skirmish. both offer more customization than weirdos, but they are more fantasy themed

Rules and modular and you have like 10 different layers of advanced rules to be freely added or skipped.

There is unit creation formula as well, since the very first edition. It's not perfect - you can use it to create general profiles but they still require some extra work to balance them properly.
>anyone either responsible or satisfied with such slop shit is a disgusting animal
I noticed that people mad about OPR always claim to have a very deep knowledge of Warhammer rules and claim OPR is somehow worse than Warhammer as well - whatever that means. It's a special kind of brain damage that makes you look at an alternative wargame played with non-GW minis and still shit and piss your pants while screaming WaRhAmMeR!

Yes, it's why they can ignore the laws of physics.

And the "real world" is just God. The strongest classes are people who can somehow communicate with God and hear His commands. Because I don't care if my setting is more pagan, I only have space for one God.

Sure, had one for tribal natife amazonian kink

Harefolk were the first non-human race formally integrated into what would become the Aurelian Empire. When the human kingdom was still rising, harefolk settlements already dotted the frontiers—small villages, trading posts, hunting camps that expanded alongside human territory. They are counted among the Empire's founders, a fact central nobles politely forget and harefolk themselves rarely mention.

Their communities are fluid, organic things. A harefolk might be born in one village, travel with traders for a season, settle in a town for a year, then move on. Groups form, dissolve, reform. There are no borders between harefolk territories—only networks of kinship, acquaintance, and shared custom. This makes them both ubiquitous and elusive: there are harefolk everywhere, but they do not always stay.

The Academy, as a static institution, presents a unique challenge. Harefolk students naturally cluster into stable groups, recreating the communal structure they would have at home. These groups are not closed—members can and do shift between them—but they are the fundamental unit of harefolk life within the walls.

Harefolk are humanoid, distinguished by long, expressive ears (usually held upright, but can lay flat against the head when wary) and short, fluffy tails. Their skin is uniformly rich brown, ranging from warm amber to deep chestnut. Eye color varies widely—gold, hazel, deep brown, occasionally grey or green.

Females average two meters in height, with lean, powerful builds built for endurance. Their movements are fluid, with a coiled readiness that can shift to explosive speed in an instant. Males are notably shorter, averaging 1.6 meters, and more solitary by nature—they often serve as scouts, traders, and the first point of contact between communities.

Both sexes age similarly to humans, though harefolk remain vigorous well into their later years.

Naruhodo.
>And the "real world" is just God. The strongest classes are people who can somehow communicate with God and hear His commands.
In that case, imo, it'd make more sense if God isn't present as a separate entity, barring avatars, rather communicating through indirect means.
Just makes sense, if the God is the universe itself.

That said, what's your idea on it's personality? I figured, there would scarcely be any, at least observed/observable.
A kind of peaceful detachment, like a dreamer merely observing the dream, rather than playing around in it.
>>
>>97845401
I'd rather not speculate on the nature of God. It's too abstract to be relevant anyway, I'd rather flesh out the stuff players are actually going to interact with.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

>so you're saying that wielding my greatsword in inverted grip is not very practical?
Actually, a greatsword is one of the few swords which should work OK in an inverted grip, but that's more like what GURPS calls a defensive grip, essentially using a sword as a spear.

A defensive grip isn't a reverse grip, they're different. You're not holding a greatsword with one hand and the blade pointing down along your forearm

Why did SJG release a bunch of Conan choose your own adventure for Gurps on Demand instead of some relevant books that already existed as proper PDFs, like Age of Napoleon or Vehicles?
>>
>>97845969
Probably something to do with licensing. I think the Conan stuff isn't yet in the public domain, so they may have had to act when the license holders were receptive to letting them do it rather than when it was best for SJG or the market.

REH has been dead for 90 years, but I guess they also mentioned stories by other authors.

When will the big death stars get their deck?
>>
>>97846011
isn't there only 1 more TS set that we know so far?
bt25 is just having some TS cards in it, bt26 is an actual TS set.

when they release the TS expansion they announced we might get another TS set but 2 sets is hardly that crazy.
I am more so tired of these trait slop decks, it worked well with adventure for the theming of working together and how the deck was structured. Even for CS and TS just because of how the games function is makes a bit more sense
but its kind of really weird for the data squad stuff, its strange for the glowing dawn stuff, and the liberator style tags are done a lot better where they are their own decks with a couple of generic support cards (that are not even used) and its just to create more archetypes locks

When the full set has been revealed, I don't think BT25 is going to have significantly less TS cards than BT24 has, besides not taking up both SEC slots. Yeah Data Squad and Beatbreak are getting more attention than non-TS stuff got in BT24, but TS was still only 61/102 of that set.
