just IMO dark elf x elf is way more interesting than human x elf because at this point it seems elves are just long lived humans with pointy ears and interchangeable cultures and at least dark elves, being the token evil race, have a vastly different outlook in life and a different culture
>>97845828I agree, I have written the only elf male/dark elf female story on AO3
>>97845744Yeah, but that's my point. The characters don't have to be elves to make the story interesting, at this point it's just fashion. It's obviously not wrong, but it seems kinda of a waste if you're going to introduce fantasy races that act like a human would.
>>97845828I like human x elf more, personally. Dark Elves are just edgier elves, frankly.
>>97846172most fantasy races are more like facets of humanityyou could make them utterly alien to humans, but that steps into the realm of the faeat that point, just make your elves 3-feet tall and spend all their time baking cookies and making toys for reasons man cant grasp

Last time I even touched Yugioh was roughly 6 years ago, should I even bother coming back? Yesterday I found my old Rokket Revolt structure deck, and I obtained a few new Rokket cards from a few booster packs I bought a few days ago. Can I make that archetype work for a casual deck for local games?

Magic item interaction I hope anons will check for me:>Astral Shard>This crystal is a solidified shard of the Astral Plane, swirling with silver mist. As an action, you can attach the shard to a Tiny object (such as a weapon or a piece of jewelry) or detach it. It falls off if your attunement to it ends. You can use the shard as a spellcasting focus while you hold or wear it."While you hold or wear it."Attaches to a Tiny object.>Ioun Stone, Reserve>Roughly marble sized, Ioun Stones are named after Ioun, a god of knowledge and prophecy revered on some worlds. Many types of Ioun Stones exist, each type a distinct combination of shape and color.>Each Ioun Stone orbiting your head is considered to be an object you are wearing. The orbiting stone avoids contact with other creatures and objects, adjusting its orbit to avoid collisions and thwarting all attempts by other creatures to attack or snatch it.Marble sized (Tiny?). Considered to be worn while orbiting. Avoids all attempts by anybody else to attack or snatch it.If I were to attach a shard (spellcasting focus) to an ioun stone, would that mean not only can I use the shard as a focus without needing to hold it in one hand (because it is on an ioun stone, being worn, but ioun stones do not need to be actually touching you to count as being worn, just orbiting), but because of how 5.5e works, does it also mean that nobody could even take it away while the ioun stone is attuned since it's attached to a thing that will dodge any attempt to try and take it from me, even if I'm sleeping or unconscious?Seems a bit niche, but could be a useful way to free up a spare hand and keep your spellcasting focus safe.
>>97846124It's a bit dubious but I think it works. >Seems a bit niche, but could be a useful way to free up a spare hand and keep your spellcasting focus safe.Quite niche, since there are already a lot of ways to ensure you've got a hand free or otherwise circumvent that for most spellcasters. It is pretty stylish to have your spellcasting focus be an orbiting crystal though. Good for anyone who wants to flavor themselves as a psionic character.

Why is "Don't overprepare" such common advise given to DMs? sometimes it seems like people are allergic to putting effort into building adventures. Railroading typically happens when a DM is underprepared for their sessions.
>>97844013I warn others of pitfalls I fell into. This is a common pitfall. Why does this need an explanation?
>>97844013DON'T RUIN THE HUSTLE GOY

>>97845632Essentially, he wanted to GM but thought he could make it all up on the fly and failed. And it was kind of a frustrating experience on both ends.>>97845946I’ll agree there. He did admit after the game that he had no clue how much prep work went into this stuff and kept putting it off until game day, which is the real indicator of how badly he’d have tried to railroad even if he was working off a module. Still just wanted to relate a time where someone was railroading with clearly zero prep.
I would replace "Don't overprepare" with "Prepare to be Unprepared" as the go-to advice. Your players will be doing shit you have not prepared for and you should always be ready to seat-of-your-pants wing the fuck out of a session

>>97841840>Like, in Matrix itself, people could pull stuff off by the virtue of, basically, hacking the system. >>97842199Sure, had one for tribal natife amazonian kinkHarefolk were the first non-human race formally integrated into what would become the Aurelian Empire. When the human kingdom was still rising, harefolk settlements already dotted the frontiers—small villages, trading posts, hunting camps that expanded alongside human territory. They are counted among the Empire's founders, a fact central nobles politely forget and harefolk themselves rarely mention.Their communities are fluid, organic things. A harefolk might be born in one village, travel with traders for a season, settle in a town for a year, then move on. Groups form, dissolve, reform. There are no borders between harefolk territories—only networks of kinship, acquaintance, and shared custom. This makes them both ubiquitous and elusive: there are harefolk everywhere, but they do not always stay. The Academy, as a static institution, presents a unique challenge. Harefolk students naturally cluster into stable groups, recreating the communal structure they would have at home. These groups are not closed—members can and do shift between them—but they are the fundamental unit of harefolk life within the walls.Harefolk are humanoid, distinguished by long, expressive ears (usually held upright, but can lay flat against the head when wary) and short, fluffy tails. Their skin is uniformly rich brown, ranging from warm amber to deep chestnut. Eye color varies widely—gold, hazel, deep brown, occasionally grey or green.Females average two meters in height, with lean, powerful builds built for endurance. Their movements are fluid, with a coiled readiness that can shift to explosive speed in an instant. Males are notably shorter, averaging 1.6 meters, and more solitary by nature—they often serve as scouts, traders, and the first point of contact between communities. Both sexes age similarly to humans, though harefolk remain vigorous well into their later years.Comment too long.
