>>97837598There are better ways to go about using AI this way. You went head on with zero research using the lowest common denominator tools to achieve it and you're somehow surprised you had terrible results. Instruct LLMs are terrible at creative endeavors, and AI doesn't have unlimited context memory, so you can't just keep going forever expecting full cognizance of the entirety of your campaign. You're going to have to work with back-end APIs at the very least if you want to have a remote chance at being successful at this.

Does anyone have experience on running two systems simultaneously? I want to inject dungeon crawls with investigative mysteries and the prospect of characters going insane. I figured CoC and D&D would be a good place to start, because I want to move toward a bigger idea I had but need practice.
>>97830819I've done exactly what you're talking about in GURPS and it worked beautifully. Also, since CoC is a BRP system, you should look to something like Mythras to integrate dungeon crawling into your game.Basically, D&D doesn't belong here.>Not everything has to be D&D. It's not appropriate for many, many types if games. Broaden your horizons.
>>97830819I ran a game based on the Persona videogames a while back. I used Kids on Bikes to simulate the investigations and free time in reality, letting my players do side stuff to get temporary buffs to their D&D characters. Then once they had discovered the next target/dungeon We switched to D&D where their characters were their Personas and they ran through the dungeon. It ended up being every other week we would switch systems; a week investigating, a week dungeoning. It worked well enough, but I'm sure there's another singular system that could do it both without the need to homebrew so much. I think I would try to stick to one system in the future though. In your case, Maybe something like Arkham Horror RPG covers both the combat and investigation better than the two systems separated.
>>97830819> SimultaneouslyNo. But I have homebrewed a system that's a mix of two. And I have had a game where two different core mechanics were used alternatively. What you describe seems to be the first one. What I would do is find a core system that does what you want your heroes to do most of the time. Kill monsters, open trapped doors, etc. Make sure it needs the least alterations possible, so if you are going to go the Eldritch Horrors' way, no DnD/PF/DH for a game in the 1950s. For a game more like Darkest Dungeon, you go full steam ahead. Then, you find a game that does the mechanics you wanna tack on it the best, and do just that. IDEALLY, for the sake of consistency, you try to blend the two.So let's say you want a Darkest Dungeon game, you may want convert PF 1st to introduce CoC elements, you should use CoC horrors and Sanity, but instead of having a Sanity stat, you could alter Wisdom to serve there. What you could do is multiply a character's Wisdom Score by 5% to obtain a Sanity score that should range from 40% (nat 8) to 90% (nat 18). When a character takes Sanity damage, for each 5% hit, the character takes 1 Wisdom damage that can only be healed with downtime, exactly like the CoC rules tell you. When a character takes X hits, it can receive temporary insanity the same way. And learning Eldritch (or even just Arcane) spells erodes one's sanity.
>>97830819Are you stupid or something? You're just talking about mixing two different genres or styles of play, you're not talking about two different game systems. Unless you are literally talking about merging those two game systems in which case I think you're fucking stupid

>>97835652Overall the kindred population is high per capita but still low overall. I'd say about five or six Camarilla, fifteen Anarchs and thirty Sabbat. It's pretty easy to give yourself a title like Baron or Prince here when presiding over jack shit. The killing is mostly between ghouls and shovelheads, though at least fifteen fully-fledged kindred are dead, there used to be twenty Anarchs, forty Sabbat, and ten Cammies.
>>97836708Those are numbers like from the Orange Club purges in Toronto way back when. Too small to hamper packs and gangs, but enough to put them on edge, making our job more difficult. Other things maybe and the shit I don't want to endanger you with...Still, that is doable. If the numbers concerning 'true' Sabbat and leadership dirt are accurate. >>97834601The idea of a book club is to encourage people to read and discuss books right? Early on you need to get people engaged with the books. After a while when they're accustomed to the activity you can retain them as you experiment with different books. You're chosen a thoroughly mediocre book. I doubt I'm ever going to read it again. You could have chosen a really good book. You could have chosen a really terrible book, like how people think they're cool for watching "the worst movie ever made". Instead, you chose a book that is below average, very dull, and not worth reading.Ward was okay with rules, settings, modules, but he's not a good fiction author. I don't know exactly how much Hong influenced things but I can say it wasn't enough for either good or bad.In terms of following the mechanics of the game, he actually made effort to follow the rules of AD&D and he tied the structure to the computer game well. And the book suffers for it.It's just a long slog from one rather uninteresting, implausible scenario to the next. Like how the villain's lair is just outside the city walls, or nearby townsfolk are safe despite the infested temple in the city. The next book is even worse. The city gets teleported underground. Despite there being no fields for crops or fodder, no streams or lakes for fishing and water, no forests for fuel or hunting, life goes on as normal while wave after wave of monsters assail the city, a city with an impossibly huge contingent of magic-users and clerics repelling the assaults.Comment too long. >>97837884>How does it and Dreadfleet play? Is it pretty much the same game? Have a hankering for some piracyOh nonono. There's a lot more cards and tokens involved, so much so that you need another table depending on the fleet size. But the games are so much more varied, even if you play with a small fleet. It is really an enjoyable game once it gets going though, with tons of terrain, monsters and land-based scenarios. I really wish that Man o' War got the fan revival treatment of some other games, it could really use some tinkering with.
I love Warcry but always find the campaign shallow compared to Necromunda.Friend introduced me to Wyrdcryhttps://jomblrverse.itch.io/wyrdcryHas anyone played it? To me, it does look like it keeps Warcry'a smooth gameplay but with a bit of extra character at the back end.
>>97837884>DreadfleetDreadfleet sucks, the game is a narrative scenario by scenario reenactment of the story with fixed team. The ships are not equal : 1 main character ship for each side. 3/5 ships on the Dreadfleet side had no sails, which mean they ignored the wind mechanic. 1/5 ships on Grand Alliance teams had no sails.Games are decided mostly by cards drawn more than strategic planning. There're 2 type of card draw : damage card and fate card. Ships have hull and crew, and having either of these reduced to 0 by damage card is game over, aside from the normal stat loss damage card, there're also a bunch of quirky damage cards like : your ship is on fire again and again every turn (fire : draw a bunch of damage card, can be removed in repair phase instead of restoring stat), your ship take damage again and again every turn, your ship take huge a mount of damage, your ship just died (capsized), and other quirky status damage card that are either minor inconvenient or extremely annoying. And then there're fate card : fate card made some wacky shits happen, but also determine wind strength and move it around, these affected ship with sails, pushing them and boost their movement, or stall it into a crawl. The force pushing can lead to your ship : run off the map (dead), run into monster/terrain/ships. Fate card also give upgrade! Upgrade that sometime you can't use, and sometimes you can, but it's an upgrade for the opponent. Sometime monsters appeared and attack you, and sometimes your entire team got damage.Aside from the shitty rule everything is amazing though, from the sweet cloth mat, to the artworks, to the models. I had one unused copy of it.
