After running the game thus far, here's what I've come to understand:>If you use the new difficulty math, always make your encounters high-average, or hard.>If the new difficulty errata says to lower a monsters health, don't. In fact, give all monsters that are Difficulty 4 +5 total Health, or they will get killed in a single hit often.>You need more mooks, because PCs who min/max single hit damage will delete a whole enemy before they get a chance to act, but that PC usually can't make two attacks per round. Larger groups of smaller dudes with ranged support is the hard counter.>You need to do roll over damage into health. This should have been standard in the core rules.>Combat turn order is way faster than most games, but heavily relies on you as the GM to force a relatively hasty decision on who takes Initiative to keep the flow going (PCs will stall here for whatever reason).>It doesn't matter how much content you cut, you aren't fitting it into one 4hr session.>Zones are legit my new favorite way to run the game.>Once PCs hit Master tier, auto dice rollers will make the session run way faster.>Every single player has openly admitted to me they prefer this system to 5.5eSotWW thread

Give me one good reason that isn't Gooner shit to actually wanna get invested in the Tau compared to other Factions/Species
In theory, the alien coalition theme is cool for variety; would give a T'au collection a lot of secondary uses for like, a pool of models for rpg encounters type shit. But y'know; that would require the T'au to be well executed, and Warhammerfags to be willing to reintroduce rpg stuff back into a wargame that long since "streamlined" all that out.But I digress.

They're fun. I like a mostly ranged focused faction and them being somewhat optimistic and mostly coherent is good because it contrasts with the rest of the setting. The mechs and railguns are also fun

And I thought that mix the Slifer deck and the 2022 tin was a good idea...
Was thinking of getting back into Yugioh, heard you could use three of a structure deck to make a decent deck to start, are any of these good?>Realm of Light>Legend of the Crystal Beasts>Spirit Charmers
>>97891347Exosisters does have access to a few unfair things in the form of Shifter, Kali Yuga, and Rainbow Magician. They just aren't very consistent. Shifter is an auto-win vs 95% of decks, but is at 1. Magnifica into Kali Yuga is funny, but it turns your deck into a worse Raidraptors which is already fragile as fuck. Rainbow Magician isn't bad, but requires you to open 7th tachyon + one of Martha, Sakitama, or Pax and for the opponent to have no interaction.
>>97892369No.
>>97892369Go for Legendary Modern Decks. People have made playable decks out if a single one but 2 gets you a decent Mitsurugi deck and near complete meta Sky Striker list. X-Saber is a bit weaker, but gives you some good staples and can make a third deck for the Genesys alt!format.Only hiccup is that if you are outside NA, you have to wait a bit. Some distributors fucked up some of the decks outside NA with stuff like 4 copies of a card when only 3 can be legally played (replacing another in the process) and they had to do a new run to fix them.

>>97890883I'm not the one calling them roleplaying games, I'm just telling everyone what roleplaying is, and yes, roleplaying has a very broad definition; the act or activity of deciding the character and behavior of someone who isn't oneself. If somehow you don't feel like a broad term applies to your activity, maybe you should find a more apt term to describe what you're doing. It's bad enough that so many people here try to describe their activity as a game, when they try so hard to stay as far from gameplay or a game structure as possible, and focus on aspects that are independent of games.

>>97891752>i didn't like that you could spend resources on taking the initiative in turn order and someone could just steal it from you immediately with one of the RNG cardsThat's something I also noticed halfway through my first game and informed play from then on. If you really >need to go first, it becomes a tight balance between tipping your hand too soon and giving someone time to play a card after you(though they usually have to pair it with the appropriate action), or losing your chance and seeing someone else claim the first player token through the board action. I'm not sure that's a terrible thing, though.

This has been making a buzz recently...Is this why literally everybody hates Pathfinder 2e?
>>97884705Or it can just.. switch targets to one of the other melee combatants. All you are doing is offloading damage onto someone else. If you got a guardian then that is just synergizing builds in a tactics game. If you don't, you are really just making the enemy play more optimally by not splitting its damage between multiple targets.
>>97884946you can be the tank yourself and use that feat you dummyevery melee martial having a plan to retreat efficiently to force the enemy to spend actions IS optimalstill, you are right in that this feat isn't very good and even its optimal use case isn't really that great
>>97880077I don't hate Pathfinder 2e, I just have no interest in playing it, because it has a lot of the same issues D&D has, and I'd have to rewrite most, if not all, of the rules to get the kind of game I want.

I tried Warlords with starter decks the other day, tried all 6 of them with a friend.Boy, this was probably the worst TCG I've tried yet. It's hard to elucidate just how much everything you do in a turn is pointless if it all comes down to "be lucky on a dice roll". The d20 system invalidates nearly every decision and strategy during a turn. I've seen a player use the warlord which strikes when he moves, and plan a turn to move like 5 times, did it matter? no, since the player just low rolled. Or a player stack AC on their warlord to be safe for a turn, did it matter? no, the other player just rolls three 20s. The effects of cards feel particularly annoying, when all they read is 10% higher or lower chance to do something. Also, not a single game lasted beyond turn 2. The 50 card deck feels particularly pointless, when all you'll see is the top 10 cards.I was actually really excited to see how the various rank mechanics with levels play and interact with each other, how stealth pans out, having units also poses skills in a soft RPG way, etc etc. But all of that is invalidated when the corse of the game is "just be lucky on a die roll". If you're lucky you don't need to strategize, just hit the opponent, and if you aren't lucky, planning won't do anything.
>>97891042>The d20 system invalidates nearly every decision and strategy during a turn. That's hilarious to hear because the TeCe boys praise the game for having dice rolls as the resolution mechanic. They think it's good that if you're not playing well but suddenly luck swings your way that its peak comeback time; get fucked superior strategy! I honestly don't think the game has much appeal in many metrics, but I know hot or cold dice is something I'm not terribly keen. In fact I place strategy and positioning in high esteem, so I know that would eventually get to me. There's always a question if dice not being balanced as well, so I would always be skeptical letting someone bring their own D20, which happens to be 'old reliable' that dabbed on a total party kill opposed roll many times before. Sad to hear the other merits of the game design don't shine through despite the swingy nature of dice.
