Probably wouldn't count as a normie game, but it is a classic at this point, the rules are simple enough to be played by anyone, it's a good gateway game for more complex titles and most people really enjoy it at first, before inevitably reaching a point at which they want nothing to do with it ever again

There is no skill or even choice involved in Candyland. You draw a card from a deck and move as the card dictates. The conclusion has been determined by the first draw, and you and the 5-year old you are playing with are going through the motions to reach the conclusion, meaning you can't even throw it to give them a win. A pox on Milton Bradley and his bloodline.

Candyland isn't really a game and you shouldn't think of it as such. It's an edutainment tool for introducing toddlers to the concepts of "taking turns" and "playing fair".
It's no more of a "board game" than pic related.

My LGS is great
It has a gaming area bigger than most LGSes, with 4 dedicated wargaming tables, plenty of multipurpose tables, and regular events, they also sell drinks and snacks at fair prices.
They even told all the CHUDS to be respectful to everyone or "they would not be missed" a decade before James Workshop did

Perhaps a coffee dragon pursued by a barista huntress.

They work together? The Coffee Dragon just likes to pour time into making the coffee. While the Barista Huntress has to serve to impatient customers.

Started mine at age 21, turning 35 this year and it's only gotten more polished over time. There were a couple of major revisions, but my playgroup agreed with all of them--and it helps that the periods most heavily affected were the earliest games, which are centuries in the past from an in-universe perspective.

The two most important parts of this have been
>supportive playgroup that is also invested in the setting and enjoys being party to the creative process
>willingness to occasionally engage in creative works outside of the world to get them out of your system
The first gives you ideas, perspectives, and inputs that you wouldn't otherwise have taken into account. The second keeps you from stretching things too thin if you find yourself drawn in a direction too orthogonal to the rest of your work.
>>
i did exactly this in my head every night before going to sleep, from age 10 to about age 30.

i'm not going to beat my 11-year-old self up for not understanding how rivers work. but by age 14-15, the world and characters were internally consistent (and purged of any animu bullshit). in over 20 years' worth of tales, characters died not just 'for story reasons', but because they'd actually hit old age in real time.

git gud, OP.

Enjoy your hobby at your leisure. There's no rush. There are no goalposts except the ones you put down. This hobby should be an artistic outlet that brings you pleasure. There's nothing you "have" to do. There are no levels or tiers of progress. Just do what interests you.

So by the virtue of the finale being a movie, they can pull some bs that Kurumi will defeat Akina 99 times off-screen but he always stands up and then defeats her once and she's redeemed lol

like how Aichi somehow lost 100 times to Takuto in Neon Messiah for some reason.
>>
>Kurumi reached out for a glimmer of hope and seized the miracle for a second life
How is she a bad guy again? She is literally the message of divineZ
>>
>>97894646
wanting to brainwash everyone dont really count as searching a miracle
>>
>>97894646
>Erika reached out for a miracle and managed to travel through time and dodge a time paradox
>Akina reached out for a miracle and was allowed to avoid being killed and save his senpai
>Kurumi reached out for a miracle and was given one last chance at life
>somehow Kurumi existing is a problem and not the other two
Frankly either all three of them die or none of them do, It's only fair
>>
So why divinez hate akina father this much

>daugther is forced to be in hospital for years
>your wife hate you
>your son die
>your depressed daugther disappears from existence

like i guess bushi dont care that much about him but this is too much lol, erika talk about saving akina a lot but his father is in way worse place

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG by R. Talsorian Games, set in a (then) future inspired by film noir and the dark science fiction films and books of the late 20th century. It focuses on simulationist gameplay and lethal near-future combat.

Cyberpunk RED is the latest edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG, set after the devastating Fourth Corporate War. It focuses on more balanced, streamlined gameplay and is currently supported by R. Talsorian Games.

Oh I see, you have a 1 in 12 chance of getting a Dismembered leg, and losing your ability to dodge, that sucks I guess?

Still ultimately worth it.
>>
>>97895729
I crossed my wires. Seriously Wounded will reduce your Evasion base but won't prevent you from evading. I also actually presumed that not having sufficient Move would prevent you from dodging an explosion, but actually the rules don't say that either.

Anything else that penalizes your actions will apply to your evasion check however and means that you are at higher risk of being hurt whenever you get hurt, which is a kind of downward spiral that is suboptimal for characters relying on successful checks. Even moderately improving armor can reduces that downward spiral and at certain levels of enemy skill will not even increase enemy hit percentages to terribly much.

I can do both, just been stuck being a DM for two campaigns, a Fallout Campaign, and a When World's Collide Campaign. I only ever get to be a player for a friend's personal DnD but it's a close group and I'd love to branch out and meet new people. Personally I'd love to be a player, but as a DM I have plans to run a 40k Campaign and eager to run a Vampire's game as well.

Hey, Satan, make a proper post. Explain why you look for that explicitely, save it on a notepad, post once every couple of months. If a GM is undecided, he may decide to accomodate you. And it might sparks one's curiosity.

It might not get a reply this very thread, but since the alternative is "never", provides a bump, and is nigh effortless (if you ctrl+c / ctrl+v after the first thread, what have you got to lose?

I've felt a persistent sense of doom and uselessness since my dad died four years ago, and I feel like I might have developed manic-depressive syndrome or made a preexisting but subtle condition much worse. I've gained 30lbs over the past year and, until recently, I've felt like my life was effectively over and I'm just kinda going through the motions of life. I've been feeling better lately but I fear that my entire life will be a series of epiphanies where I finally can fix the thing keeping me from being my happiest self when the thing actually keeping me back is me. I'm starting to lose weight again but it really sucks. Maybe I should do that fatty contest on /fit/.

Also I'm working on a ttrpg which is fun
>>
>>97895694
hope this doesn't come off as smug but if you're not doing it now, build a baseline of getting enough sleep every single night and spending some time in the sun every day. It's not magic but it's a good routine to try and start getting yourself back. Stay strong brother.

No. I'm specifically the kind of autist who can never raise a subject, but when someone else raises a subject I love to engage with it. I lack creativity, but find nigh-orgasmic bliss in the process of refinement and winnowing. This itself is a reason I delight in TTRPGs; I cannot freeform roleplay for shit, but when given the mechanical structure of classes or character archetypes and a world to build within, my muse sings and my heart dances.

Players, how do you write you character backstories? Are there any patterns you've noticed in your writing.
I noticed that when I'm making a backstory, I have a habit to make the inciting incident something sad, even if its not super tragic. I would like to hear how others managed to give their characters goal while having them stay happy.

DMs, what kind of backstories do you like? Was there any that you really enjoyed? Any type of backstories you hate?

>>97895664

>>97895728
Honestly sounds like a player problem. Usually when I submit a backstory, I treat it as sacred.
>>
>>97895354
Short and funny and silly. I have never given a shit about people's long tedious backstories.
>>
>>97895354
There's the other side of the equation - when a character has loved ones or next of kin back home oftentimes GM will kill them for cheap revenge plot hook...
Best give yourself enstranged wife or cruel step-mother, so when any misfortune striker her you can just shrug it off because the bitch deserved it..
>>
>>97895802

Yeah, it's kinda bullshit, especially because the PC often didn't interact with them during the game.
I would at least suggest to give hints before the deed, to make the PCs do something.
>>
>>97895354
>DMs, what kind of backstories do you like?
Ones that have answers to these:
1. What made your character an adventurer/mercenary/edgerunner/investigator.
2. What's your character's immediate and long-term goals.
3. What are the connections of your PC to the world (locations/NPCs) and other PCs.
4. If your character is a grumbling loner, what makes them stick around.
The last one isn't obligatory, if a player wants to retire a PC, the excuse of the grumbling loner going their own way like they always did is handy.

As a player I include all of that, but also write way more than needed. :-P

Pigheaded Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online:
https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/

They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ

Just discovered this and I'm a big fan of the setting. All the info I get seems surface level shallow though. Is lore/story developments just not much there because it's all new? How's the game's development going?
>How do we repair public perception of Trench Crusade?
I don't get this question. What damage has been done?
>>
>>97895780
>What damage has been done?
Most of it has been done by trolls which has led to a kind of mindset where any criticism is seen as something a troll would say.
The mentality was most visible when the first plastic set's price was revealed.

But the real elephant in the room is contrarianism. This manifests in pretty much any fanbase that gathers around a tabletop game that isn't the Warhammers where everyone then believes themselves to be superior through liking something that isn't Warhammer.
The truth is zealously and blindly supporting tabletop games for not being one of the warhammers isn't a sign of superiority but a different flavour of paypiggery.

There isn't really a way for me to properly condense the 'real life lore of trench crusade' without writing a novel. Maybe there's a summary of it all somewhere but I wouldn't know.
>>

You can find pretty much all the lore on the official website. I recommend reading through, you can make warbands using https://trench-companion.com

tldr the game blows up more than expected, the creators weren't expecting it and weren't prepared for it, they fuck up a lot, they go back on promises for STL's and such. Most of it was blown out of proportion by youtubers and trolls, it's not as bad as it sounds

Just make some stuff up with your players.
I'd recommend bolt action airborne troopers for a base then add more gubbins and iconography. Though i don't know where you're going to find a bunch of guys with bomber jackets

You can also just have a conversation.

Thanks for the explanation, guys. Schizos will be on any big game, I guess. I'm at least glad that the game has blown up. I'll be doing some reading, for sure. Surely this repair will occur naturally as quality content gets released (if it does).
