A guy from reddit, or one of his fanboys, that keeps using same set of images to make same set of low effort threads over and over again. It's like that trope of >lust provoking image + open-ended time wasting question, except the image is commissioned character portrait that can be traced back to a particular reddit account.
His exact motives are unknown, could be ego thing fishing for (You)s, could be pure autism, could be effort to artificially stimulate board traffic. It's pretty noticeable if you're looking at the catalogue on semi-regular basis because /tg/ threads cycle so slowly.
Most people just learned to ignore it, some make effort to actively call it out and run statistics on archive how many times was each particular image posted. Anyway, jannies don't care, and neither should you.

He has just 2 threads up at the moment, this and >>97183368 usually there's 3 or 4.

I wrote a Monk subclass for 2024. Thoughts? Not entirely sure all these spells have been updated for 5.5 yet.

Monk of the Empty Wind
Level 3: Windborn Stride: Once per Turn you may jump up to 30 feet by expending 10 feet of movement. If you use Step of Wind you may instead jump up to 60 feet by expending 10 feet of movement.
Level 3: Wind Control: You gain the Gust cantrip. As a Magic action you may spend 1 Focus Point to cast one of the following spells without Components. Gust of Wind, Warding Wind, Air Bubble.

Level 6: Master of Winds: As a Magic action you may spend 1 Focus Point to perform one of the following.
Wind Wave: A line of roaring wind 30 feet long and 5 feet wide emanates from you in a direction you choose. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes Force damage equal to three rolls of your Martial Arts die on a on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Wind Burst: A rush of gale force winds erupt in every direction from you. Each creature within 15 feet of you other than you must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes Force damage equal to three rolls of your Martial Arts die on a on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Level 11: Fleet As The West Wind: As a bonus action you may spend 1 Focus Point to double your Speed for the next 10 minutes.

Level 17: Avatar of the Empty Wind: At the beginning of your turn you may spend 1 Focus Point to become an incarnation of the empty wind. gain the following benefits for the next 10 minutes.
-You may fly at your Speed.
-You have Advantage on all Dexterity Saving Throws.
-All Ranged Weapon and Spell Attacks have Disadvantage against you.
-You can use your action to create a 15-foot cube of swirling wind centered on a point you can see within 60 feet of you. Each creature in that area must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature takes damage equal to three rolls of your Martial Arts die on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If a Large or smaller creature fails the save, that creature is also pushed up to 10 feet away from the center of the cube.

There's the Drakewarden subclass, but that's kinda wimpy and you don't even really get to ride a dragon until around level 14, if I remember right.

I'm trying to make a lizardfolk pretending to be a dragonborn in a 2024 phb only campaign
The best thing i came up with is a dwarf (more hp=armored skin) wild barb grappler (grabby damage=death roll) and i want to get a monk dip for the better unarmed damage and the bonus action attack (the bite)
Problem is simply, without armor i go to 15 ac. There is any other way to squeeze an extra attack out your bonus action? Sure i could go monk, but the idea was making a str based build

Writing General: 'festive' edition

Welcome to /wg/, the thread for all /tg/ related writing. Whether you're plotting your campaign, trying to come up with a character backstory, or just trying to write some setting fluff, this is the place to post it. You don't even have a campaign, just an idea you want to develop? You're welcome here. While the rest of /tg/ is arguing over monstergirl mating and which way rivers are supposed to flow, we're here to help you turn your thoughts into an actual finished product.

As the successor to the Storythreads, we're also open to /tg/ related fanfiction (D&D, Warhammer, Battletech, whatever). In fact, if you've written any vaguely /tg/-related short stories, you can try them out here. We also have flash-fiction challenges from time to time.

There's a discord for writers here
https://discord.gg/6AwKHGF

The previous thread can still be found in the archive here

And finally an archive of /tg/ fiction can be found here:

How does one even selfpublish while actually making money?
>>
>>97133758
I am working on a ttrpg setting that is very inspired by Greek mythology and I am looking for a good name for a dragon humanoid race. I've been using "Ophoio" as their term for now, but I want to change it to something else. I'm thinking of something to do with the legend of Cadmus and sowing the dragon's teeth, like calling them Kadameans or Draksperi. Do either of those two sound good, or do any of you have better ideas? I'm totally open to sharing more info about the race to help.
>>
>>97199588
Still trying to figure it out.
Your share per sale is higher compared to having a publisher publish it for you, but you have additional expenses (cover, editing (if you aren't doing it yourself), marketing). Apparently, it's possible, some people make money from it. Some people aren't really doing novels, but just flood the market with self-help books, cooking and fitness books and in general garbage. But even "real" authors can make it with a big enough following. Although, that following takes years to build and they often had a regular publisher before. For others, it's just a nice extra money.
>>
>>97201087
>Kadameans or Draksperi
Both don't sound that good, but at least the latter conveys that they are dragons of sorts. At least to me, it's important that you can infer in some way from the name alone that they are not a regular human race. "Kadameans" doesn't really convey that to anyone that doesn't have a degree in ancient greek.

When did Warhammer go from being a game about making themed armies in cool campaigns into being a sweatlord tournament game where people whine about balance and how your models must be Games Workshop approved with the right weapons and no kitbashing? What even happened to campaign play?

like anon said, it's because the majority of games actually benefit from rules and similar expectations - newer players are unlikely to have a social group to play fun narrative games with unless they get their friends to buy in too (which is a big ask in this economy).

This.
A big part is also the fake info coming out of Twitter where trending topics were not actually trending but specifically picked to choose an agenda. Same shit is what affected Hollywood when they thought that black women were the most desired character to be seen.

Now we all know that it's a tiny fringe group and the money isn't there, we're seeing it swing back

Wouldn't have a problem with it if it were:
a) A spin-off of WHFB.
b) If they MUCH put more effort into the setting.
c) Was a mix of fantasy genres like WHFB was and had better designs.
Instead we have what we have. And it's horrible.
The only good thing about it is the whole idea of the realms based off the old lores of magic, but even this was fumbled hard.

>Most D&D games start in backwater towns
Yet the absolute most pushed and used cities in D&D are the big merchant/trade hubs, like Neverwinter and Baldur's Gate.
>>
>>97191230
Expanding on those.
>>Make dungeons actually dangerous and not tourist spots
Not only should they be dangerous, they should also heavily test a PCs capabilities and mettle. Bonus for having unique challenges.
>>No high magic, and if you do in fact have high magic actually consider how that will affect history other then everyone getting a fridge
Yep. If the player has access to it and want to use it, there should be consequences and reactions from everyone to this...gods included.
>>Have creatures that are actually evil
Yep. Also include why they are evil, and if they used to be good and turned then add why said creatures turned evil and what caused it.
>>Don't have a California melting pot of races. If you do however consider each races strengths and weaknesses and what roles they would play in said society
Bonus if there are also racial tensions and conflicts. Would be unrealistic without those.
>>Don't have high powered PC's that are stronger then the rest of the world. If you do have this, consider how the world would actually react to that kind of thing
Yeah. Also there should be something to keep high level players in check from going full murderhobo and players should be wary of their actions if they go and cause something that would cause everyone to react to it
>>Take the game seriously instead of always being subversive or joking quips all the time
Agreed on the subversive thing, but the joking quips are not inherently bad. Agreed if they are done non-stop they get to be irritating, but from time to time and if done in a way that they'd fit the setting then those wouldn't be out of place.
>>
>>97197309
Yep. Bret Navy has all the gunpowder weapons too.
Then again, the navy are not knights and don't need to follow the code of chivalry.
>>
>>97197309
>>97201526
Almost forgot.
The fact that the rules that gunpowder weapons (and crossbows under which gunpowder weapons were put) cannot be used on land since they are forbidden makes it all one big loophole.
I bet that if Bretonnia could make blimps or their own version of thunderbarges and give it to the navy, then it would've been the biggest loophole abuse.
>Is not on land, but in the air
>The machine happens to be part of the navy
>The knights loaned the ship from the navy
That would be quite the loopholing.

Hrm. How would fa/tg/uys handle a PC that the player wants to play as a former war criminal? So according to my player his character did a lot of heinous shit during the war that ended about 10 years ago, but is now haunted by these terrible memories.
The player is asking me for game mechanics to apply to this and I'm a little stumped. Some advice from you guys would be most welcome.
On my own bat I figured since this is a fantasy world getting actually attacked by the ghosts of his victims would be appropriate, but I do I really want to give him the opportunity to kill them twice?

ReconQuest is a lot simpler to run, vastly more intuitive. It cuts down the bad autism (how the fuck do I play this game) and keeps the good autism (magic, optional mechanics, antisemitism).
>>
>>97200416
>Pillaging
Actually the biggest wealth transfer during the raj was from the maharajahs to the ordinary people, who were suddenly getting paid a wage for what they do. Lets repeat that another way because you seem fairly stupid, even for a brown, leftists or (yuck) a brown leftist.
Before the raj the labour of peasants was almost entirely forced with no remuneration. Caste obligations, bonding, corvee and sharecropping. The raj forced princes to pay people for their labour, resulting in a massive amount of indian peasants actually having disposable income. Furthermore the raj, the company armies etc. paid not just a wage but a good one and generally didn't care who they paid it to as long as the work was good and on time.
Seething about the british not respecting caste is one of the biggest themes you'll get when reading historical accounts from indians.

It's not just railroads, the british monetized taxation, built canals, expanded irrigation and provided a gigantic market for indian peasants to sell into, bringing massive benefit to their lives. There's a reason peasants fought for the british during the 1857 mutiny, you know. In fact more company units stayed loyal than mutinied.
>>
>>97200416
>You're the one upset about these countries playing catch-up.
No, I'm annoyed about you telling blatant, ridiculous lies about why they have to play catch up. China was never colonized.

I realize I would do the same. My build choices was because:
1. I wanted the biggest amount of gifts out of seeing them like my biggest weapons and all the giants (so I spent two commanders there) because they are geuninely very useful and can make divine weapons
2. Get the biggest amount of "ultimates" like reverberating harpoon, golden truth and dark smite. My build would be like Soleac, a long of weird things to modify with power word and mix between them.
3. Cover the biggest amount of minion and powers that can counter other factions, like Pain countering Gods and Daughters, Harpoon countering dream gods and dragons, dark smite countering everyone, holy wings to counter holy beings, pleasure minions to counter AIs and to fight some that could fight the Tempered Heroes, mana soldiers to fight the Heroes, a build perfect to capture demiurgues to counter True Goddesses and Heroes etc...
So I guess I am a weird match of Soleac-He Who Pursues as my build is very good at hunting-a waifufag-an schizo that doesn't want to face anyone without at least one counter possible

>I wanted the biggest amount of gifts
My build started in the first version and was based on the concept of taking all the GP without having commander, wich at the time was incredibly meta, as a challenge. I never managed to post it.
Beside that it was focused in efficency and support abilities, making heavy use of mana-using units, vampires for their psychic abilities, einherjar family for their general efficency and ascension+divine promotion+familliars to support others,+ some perk I could share.

weird take. indie companies consistently produce higher quality games than GW. that's been true since the 90s. the GW games worth playing (including the gwsg anybody bothers with) are the statistical exceptions. but sight unseen the default assumption is that anything GW puts out is most likely going to suck a mountain of dicks.

That spiky arm is literally from the Fellgor Ravagers kit. The heads are also immensely Chaos-coded, although I don't recognize what kit they're from. Bloodreavers are similar, though, if anon needs more Chaos-but-n-not-really heads!

I've assembled pretty much every kit released for Necromunda (except the Ash Wastes terrain), so please, tell me specifically which Necromunda models I should look at to see random spikes as part of the design language.

Goliath, Escher and Orlock models all features some kind of spikes or studs, but they're basically always organized, geometric, and symmetrical. From memory, I think maybe there's a single optional Goliath armor plate with some uneven spikes? If that? Because featuring arrangements of random, asymmetrical... you might even say "chaotic"... spikes of different lengths and thicknesses is Chaos design language through-and-through.
