Pigheaded Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. So why are they releasing plastic kits for the weird offshoot war bands? Is it cause everyone already owns the base models in resin so it would be redundant?

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:>n00b DM's Guidehttps://pastebin.com/EVvt6P0B>n00b Player's Handbookhttps://pastebin.com/XALkXkV0>Troves, Resources, Blogs, etc:http://pastebin.com/9fzM6128Comment too long. >>97840057Nah. It's not a strict clone like OSE, but the term "retroclone" allows for stuff with some mild houserules. What he's doing is leaning towards something like Labyrinth Lord, IE firmly in the standard retroclone area, rather than a borderline retroclone like LotFP, which is still far from actually doing a NuSR game. That said, some of the changes kinda suck.

LL didn't fuck with XP for gold. >still far from actually doing a NuSR gameXP for gold spent is a rule that completely changes the dynamics of the game and its incentives. I don't care that Arneson did it once, As a matter of fact, it's a NuSR staple today, something that only NuSR faggots do.

>>97840262>GW practices what is known as product tying.I would call that an incentive scheme imo
>>97840226I feel like (as other anons have pointed out in previous threads) nobody cares about the larger aos setting; i.e. the realms, the whole ages thing, the larger storylines like era of the beast or whatever, BUT even casuals can be very attached to their factions' lore and general tone. (Obviously nobody cares is a bit of an exaggeration, you've got the tga types etc, but the vast majority don't care about the wider setting in the same way 40keks or whfb players do)I feel like aos is more compartmentalized in that sense.
>>97840286>>97840262Hasbro does the same with Magic: the Gathering. If a store won't preorder their quota of Spider-man boxes (guaranteed flop) they won't be assigned any boxes of the real MtG sets.In GW's case, LGSs have no one to blame but themselves. They often put no effort into popularising other wargames to create an alternative local market for non-GW kits only to act surprised whenever people ask for GW's shit only.
>>97840262I asked one of the lgs owners in my area this question, why they don't stock gw and it came down to this pretty much. You can't really order a little bit of gw product, they basically decide. 40k and aos are about equally popular here so it's not even about that, but yeah you can't just order some marine intercessor boxes you HAVE to take, idk, combat patrol imperial agents with it or no deal.No wonder most stores here cater to card game players instead
>>97840297I can confirm this is my case as well. I like the AoS lore in general, I have about 30 physical novels and anthologies 1/3 of those are Realmgate Wars books but my point stands and core books from every edition and yet, I don't care about the setting this much. I have read all the campaign books but mentally I skipped everything since the Soul Wars. Malignant Portents was the peak AoS to me, my interest only caught by the certain factions later on. I think I have re-read FEC, BoC, BCR, BS and SCE battletomes 10 times each but since the 3rd edition I stopped caring even about the faction books. I know 4chan attracts people that prefer to live in their bubble on can't even function outside of the echo chamber but it's time to admit the overwhelming majority of GW's target audience never cared about the AoS as a setting. In this case, worldbuilding simply failed and it's time to move on. Personally, I stopped following 40k lore as well with the 8th edition launch. Gathering Storm was the exact moment I decided the setting serves its purpose to me and I don't need anything added to it anymore so I simply preserved it in amber and still enjoy it much. I plan to do the same with AoS.

Core is finally on the wayjust starting to get into model painting (have a box of reaper minis and prints to get practice)how much trauma am I in for?
>>97836642The build guides are all on the website and they are pretty shit, not actually showing you where some stuff goes and sometimes just outright wrong. But the minis themselves all have incredible detail and look fantastic painted up. The box comes with a ton of survivor minis to mix and match also.
Ordered 1.6, probably not gonna paint any immediately and try get to playing first. The three vignettes are standalone encounters and not really things that go into the campaign right? Should I try and pick up the Killenium Butcher or the Nukealope or should I not bother with them?
>>97839980>The three vignettes are standalone encounters and not really things that go into the campaign right? You can fight them in your regular campaign after you get a certain ending in their showdown, so if you really like the models and enjoy the base game versions of them enough that you'd be willing to pay $100 to fight a cooler version of them, then sure.

Been thinking a lot about this>So the warp, as the realm of souls, originally was a creation of the old ones as a weapon against the necrontyr in the war of heaven. It allowed not only a means for the Aeldari and Krorks to use psychic powers, but also cheat death and allow them to respawn infinitely. >But after the war in heaven the warp is destabilized due to the negative emotions, death, and general usage. There's no more old ones to fix it either.>Now the "warp" sends those same negative emotions at the Aeldari who in turn start going crazy. They start doing their murder orgies, but it's not really fair to blame them as they are influenced by the warp. The same thing is known to happen to human psykers as well. The warp make psykers, especially untrained ones, crazy and emotional. In long terms it uses them to gain more power and access to realspace. REMEMBER THIS.>This creates a feedback loop where the the negative emotions make the mortals crazy and in turn have the negative emotions to fuel the warp. Ultimately resulting in slaanesh. khorne nurgle and tzeentch are likely started in the war in heaven, but finished during humanity's early era when human psykers start showing up.Con

Hi,I am only now playing Amnesia: The Bunker and I am amazed just how much in apperance and lore the Monster from game resembles Flesh Eater Courts. The Monster from game is actually a type of ghoul per lore. The Monster was once Augustin Lambert, who had been transformed into a powerful Ghoul like creature due to the drinking water tainted by a otherworldly substance called Vitae ( this reminded me of Kingsblood "wine"). It is a cannibal monstrosity that stalks the tunnels of game, reminded me of how, for example, a Varghulf would act in closed spaces. It makes its home and sleeps in the Chapel, decorated with gruesome half devoured corpses. The design of Monster eyes and those immense fangs that make its toothy maw for some strange reason deeply reminds me of Blisterskin court art. In the Blisterskin court art, the ghoul has a semi dreamy/melancholy eyes filled with pure tragedy. Such a powerful imagery.
>>97840024Thank you mr traffic controller.
Good catch, OP.I remember when I first played Amnesia the Bunker, the vibes, the lore and the apperance and behaviour of the monster scream glorius ghouls from AoS.Check Amnesia the Rebirth. Plently of ghouls there too.
Also, the Chapel is basically a nest for the ghoul in Amnesia. The ghoul is a cannibal and has dragged corpses there to eat.Yet some corpses have been decorated with razor wire and left as ornament for its nest. That screams Flesh Eater Courts. Picture of chapel.
>>97840306Fuck, that is brutal. Exactly how I imagine "castles and palaces" of Ushoran and his children.

>>97837367I remember there having been developer comment (or at least official PF society ruling) that weapon attunement works on Amulet of Mighty Fists the same way as it would with regular weapon enchantments.
>>97837313>>97837891Yeah, that is cool and I get it. However I need an answer to that specific question. So is there a trait in Pathfinder 1e that reduces the penalty to Power attack? And if yes, what is it called?
>>97839172There is no Trait for it. In fact, there are apparently no traits that specifically mention Power Attack in their description. There are feats like Furious Focus that removes penalty from the first attack of the round, and Tiger Pounce (tiger style) that allows swapping attack penalty to AC penalty (a bit of a waste of feats though if you are not using unarmed), and Combat Rhythm that reduces the penalty the more attacks you do in turn.
I am working on a new character (elf ranger that grew up alone from extremely young age in the woods so they are somewhat feral akin to a zerker)and was looking at the Hermit background. Have you ever used the dubious knowledge skill before? It seems like it could be fun but also seems like a straight up negative feat.
