Easily the Simpsons. Especially if I can retroactively make it so the movie was the last thing to ever come out.
>>
>>219189245
If you're just comparing peak Simpsons to peak family guy, no family guy is not better. But the latest few seasons of Family Guy are without a question better than any episode of the Simpsons post-movie.

So I just finished up a first time watch of The Sopranos last weekend, and it was incredible. Family and friends have told me I should watch The Wire, and that it is just as good as The Sopranos though different in tone.

I watched the first episode, and it seemed so corny to me and without the self-aware humor The Sopranos has. Does it get better?

Wire is better, yes. More dense, more complex. Sopranos is great as well, the Wire is just on a different tier.
>>
I found it helpful, especially in the first season, to put the subtitles on. A lot of the jungle jibber-jabber can be hard to make out, meaning that you’ll miss important plot points.

First season feels like another cop show but it ramps up quickly.

I'm 2 seasons in. I was skeptical at first, but man it really is so good. I have a soft spot for The Sopranos as I watched it first and when I was a teenager and it was the best thing I'd ever seen. But The Wire is probably just as good, in a different way. The Sopranos is primarily a character study mostly about relationships, where The Wire is about systems and procedures. Maybe that's why people are saying you have to really pay attention: because each scene is relevant and has an effect on what happens next, leading up to the conclusion. I think The Sopranos is more a family drama, and in a way it's more about feelings and irrational behavior, where everything in The Wire feels coldly logical. The police are doing their jobs, the criminals are doing theirs, both sides make stupid, fatal mistakes at times, but it's completely logically driven by the types of people they are. The ending of the seasons (I've only seen the first two so far) feel inevitable but tragic.

2 hours and 20 minutes of a dude talking to a CGI crab and making funny dances. Maybe 20 minutes of actual story, science or something interesting in general. I was bored and I wanted it to end. I have almost no interest in watching it again. I prefer 2001 A Space Odyssey, Interstellar, Gravity and The Martian above this one.

Yes, their planet's gravity and atmosphere was so thick they had to build a space elevator as rockets wouldn't work. Also the magnetic field was 100x stronger than earth's so radiation doesn't reach the surface. They're more like a species evolving at the bottom of the ocean. Rocky and his crew were the first of their species to ever go into space.

they only operated on newtonian physics. they were very smart but operated without sight, so a lot of things involving light were overlooked by them.

What did the alien help with? He seemed less intelligent or knew less than Grace about the problem and science in general. He looked kinda dumb in general.
>>
>>219207666
He was an Engineer who made first contact in an intelligent manner, found a way to cohabit, had the materials and knowledge to build a 5km chain.

Grace most likely wouldn't have solved it on his own, or he might have had the solution but no way to manufacture it

they have an equation to work out what is profitable and can add in some Marketing numbers to fudge a project if it needs a boost to break even on the equation.
tarantino and Pitt being in a netflix movie is worth $X million of ad spend globally for netflix.
no one has ever seen the equation but it gets talked about in the netflix annual report.

Why did they make the same movie a THIRD TIME!!! WTF

>MCs on the run again
>born again villain on the hunt again
>water shit again
>whales subplot AGAIN
>whale hunters AGAIN (with a bigger boat)
>same endign fight AGAIN
>same eclipse during endign fight AGAIN
>Eywa helping in the same way aGAIN

WTF is this trash. I loved the villain dynamics, they are the high point of the flick. I even liek that Varang is very present in the first half and the Quaritch in the second. But the PLOT. Holy shit.

The same movie a THIRD TIME! Even brought back CEO, only to be there and do NOTHING!

Because you're a manchild
Manchild-Core is masculine-oriented genre slop that's slightly better than shit like sanderson and airport reading material so it allows midwit manchildren who want to appear literary, cultured and intelligent to appear so without putting the effort into reading difficult material.
if you're a manchild who can't read poetry, or literature written before the year 1900 then you'll flock to shit like wolfe and mccarthy and tolkien because it's like your favorite dark souls vidya or warhammer slop and uses babby's first literary techniques like unreliable narrator and lets you feel like you're a based intellectual.
>Oooooh... what's this? A book written in the last 50 years that has blood and gore and violence and esotericism?
>I'm literally so deep and intellectual, under my incel veneer I can enchant any woman if only they got to know me and my dark triad jungian nietzchean based tradcath traditionalist spirit
