DON'T watch House of the Dragon. HBO done fucked with our boy and lad, George R.R. Martin.>“It’s worse than rocky, it’s abysmal. I hired Ryan. I thought Ryan and I were partners. And we were all through the first season. I would read early drafts of the scripts. I would give notes. He would change some things. It was working really well — I thought.”>When Ryan came to loggerheads with original Dragon co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik, Ryan asked for Martin’s support in their dispute, and got it (Sapochnik left the show after season one).>“Then we got into season two, and he basically stopped listening to me. I would give notes, and nothing would happen. Sometimes he would explain why he wasn’t doing it. Other times, he would tell me, ‘Oh, OK, yeah, I’ll think about that.’ It got worse and worse, and I began to get more and more annoyed. Finally, it got to a point where I was told by HBO that I should submit all my notes to them and they would give Ryan our combined notes.”>Martin says he can’t say anything beyond this. But sources say Martin and Condal’s relationship deteriorated further and came to a head during a Zoom call with the show’s producers and some HBO executives. The purpose of the call was for Condal to present his vision for season three. After Condal spoke, Martin detailed his many objections and allegedly declared, “This is not my story any longer.”>After their contentious Zoom call, HBO asked Martin to step back from Dragon altogether. A few months later, the author was brought back aboard. “I can’t talk about it,” Martin says.>“George and Ryan had a disagreement on the direction of season three,” an HBO insider says. “At that point, it was clear that the process and communication with them was broken and needed a reset. So there was naturally a period where everyone took a step back for a while until we could figure out a new way forward.”
>>217377859>I haven't watched the showcheck the email you got from your supervisor. in the show, Rhae knows about the Long Night and thinks she has to be Queen to protect the kingdom. GRRM didn't complain about that critical plot detail being added to season 1 either.
>>217358918waiting for the winds of winter almost makes you wish for nuclear winter
I saw a clip of George speaking recently about Dunk & Egg and talking passionately about how much he loves knights, chivalry and jousting and it just made me love the guy. He really is just a sweet old man who got screwed over too many times by Hollywood hacks. Yeah its been a long while and still no Winds but I think people give him way too hard of a time for it, especially when they aren't writers themselves and have no idea how difficult and frustrating producing a work of such magnitude really is. Despite everything he's created such a great story and world, and I'll always appreciate him for that even if it goes unfinished in the end.
>>217371622>No, you're not writin'. You're too busy being a smart aleck at conventions to be writin'. Now I want ya to "write" and stop bein' a smart aleck. Can ya try that for me?
>>217369188They could have aged her up if they thought fans would complain about "pedophilia" (not that that stopped Daemon with young Rhaenyra). Truth is, they turned him into a "my wife's sons" cuck and so him cheating on Rhaenyra would feel too out of character.

>>217377869Untrue, there was no effect like this for DS9.Notable, when streaming became a thing and all the Berman era shows were put online, not only did TNG do very well, Voyager (somehow) gained an entirely new audience and did shockingly well.DS9, did not. It and Enterprise basically languished, unwatched and unloved. Much as they were in their original airings.
>>217377897>the twist at the end that nobodies lives were actually at stake is disappointing and lameI actually thought it was one of the few times in media, and perhaps the only way, to make an "it was all a dream" ending actually interesting and not feel like a cop-out. From the get-go, we know these aliens are all about games, so it's perfectly in character for what we know about them
>>217377698Yes, and? We've come to this point after decades of them slowly ratcheting things up - and then throwing all caution to the wind somewhere around 2012-2016. Previous generations merely snuck messaging into entertainment here and there - and prioritised the entertainment. Now they've abandoned all subtlety, save for the nominal pretence that these are still entertainment products. Also, if you have an alternative theory for what's going on, it'll need to account for the fact that the ruination of Star Trek has been continuing (and glaringly apparent) for over eight years now. Why hold so firmly to an obviously doomed course? Why sit back as your stock steadily declines from around $60 per share (around the time of STD's premiere) to little over $10 a share (by the end - and this in a period of rapid inflation)?

>>217377862This is so fucking messed up of a business practice, I'm no longer watching these multipart movies. The first 28 years later was shit, and felt like filler. I was so confused on how unsatisfying it felt until I discovered it was the first in a trilogy (which marketing seemed to hide). Even if it's the first in a trilogy, it should feel like a standalone satisfying story, just like the first lord of the rings did. Then they come out with a good movie for the second one but they aren't even guaranteeing a third one to conclude the second one unless you give them lots of money. You have to wait like 6 years and give them three movie tickets to see one hopefully good zombie story.
>>217377934I had the same issue. I think the awkwardness is due to how we go in expecting Jimmy's group to be at least a bit morally grey given how comedic they are at the end of 28 Years, then we immediately discover that they force children to fight to the death with zero setup. that plus the torture explains why Spike is terrified into passivity for the whole movie. it would also be less weird if the first movie didn't have Cillian abruptly developing Rambo powers towards the end.
>>217378009>just like the first lord of the rings did.lmao fuck off. Fellowship and TT almost literally end with "tune in next week!" exactly like this series.
>>217378009Years is completely standalone besides the sequel hook with the Jimmies at the end, if it had just ended with Spike walking the Earth that would have been a complete story>To see one hopefully good zombie story If you just want the zombie to go ooga booga just watch weeks on loop, NPC
It's hilarious how /tv/ was doomposting all this time about the black woman director and now that the movie is out the threads on /tv/ are more positive than when the previous 28 years came out.

BM is misery porn for the sake of it but with a poorly thought up tech-dystopia angle. The last time I ever engaged with this show was the Aaron Paul episode because based on the setup I thought they were going to do something different, dipping into a thriller race against time thing for Paul to rescue the other guy's family from the loons. A tepid version of Taken for sure, but something a bit different for the show. But nah, they all die and the whole episode is, again, plodding ponderous misery porn for its own sake. At least the earlier episodes had some diversity like the guy hiding the fact he's a pedo (and Alex Lawther was perfect casting because he has the face of a pedophilic faggot).

>>217374446It was too contrived. In a world where your life is entirely dependent on social rankings where its literally life or death you wouldnt be so nonchalant about it like her brother was (or room mate, i can't remember i watched this shit ages ago). Also there would be insurance and shit for this, you wouldnt be able to destroy your life in a day like she did. The world they created just wasnt believable at all and was obviously put together to force their contrived message that tech bad or whatever.
Why can't Jap films attain the cultural relevance of Korean films anymore? What are they doing wrong that they can't have big hits like No Other Choice or whatever?
>>217372872Feel free to enlighten us.
>>217377999that's why I watch korean content, that's like catnip to me.
>>217374817I mean, it didn't help that when K-pop was first blowing up most Japanese artists were still refusing to put their music on streaming, music videos on YouTube would just be 1 minute previews and you would have to buy a special edition album with a bonus DVD to see the full thing, no merch would ship outside Japan without the customer needing to use some sort of proxy shipping, what little info there was online would be region locked, etc. They really didn't want anyone outside Japan listening to them.
