you can have visual storytelling just fine, you just need your film to NOT BE SHIT so that people are interested in watching it instead of so bored with the whole thing that they start to zone out

Wrong. You don't need to dumb down your art to accommodate phone addicts.
You are describing television and films as products being engineered for maximum consumption. I'm describing them as art.

Some Kind of Wonderful. When the girl goes from his doofy tomboy best friend to completely vulnerable and wet for him. I've had sex. I've watched porn. That scene is a different level of hot. Masterfully done.

99% of other sex scenes are unnecessary, I agree. It's embarrassing as a man. That women think we all believe "yeah plotline, soundtrack, whatever. WHERE ARE THE TITTIES THOUGH."

When I think of a good sex scene, the first to come to mind is usually the scene where Bill Pullman prematurely ejaculates in Lost Highway. It establishes the sexual troubles between him and his wife well, which is important through the rest of the movie, and it delivers that info to you in a much more expressive way than I feel an alternative where it's just stated would, like if they were in couple counseling and talked about it or something.

One thing I really love about that scene is when his wife gently puts her hand on his back to console him afterwards, but the sound and the way his body sinks makes her touch feel heavy even though you can see its soft. Disallowing a scene like that out of some sense of prudishness or because some movies have gratuitous sex scenes would be silly.

>Sci-fi thriller. Fantastic FX, breezy pace, great performances from Pratt, Howard, D'Onofrio. Schwartzman and that shot where they're running through the shops just shows why he's one of the best. The kids are pretty dreadful and just show how bad the dialogue actually is and how great the rest of the cast is at saving it. Fantastic popcorn movie where almost everyone (except the kids and Trevorrow) is performing at the top of their game. 5 stars for this fifth rewatch.

you're right that the terms of the oath don't specify how many fights, what the oath specifies is that the ghost army will only answer to isildur's heir and fight for him. and due to the fact that there is no minimum or maximum amount of battles they are contracted for, it means one is the minimum amount they need and if the terms of the oath have been met (answering the call of isildur's heir to aid his army against the enemy), then there's nothing else aragorn can do but release them.

congratulations, you played yourself.

Not all of Lewis's good characters were christian or even religious so it is not as binary as you claim it to be but they were indeed writing stories where christianity is the moral norm or the ultimate ideal
However and just like Dostoevsky , I don't consider that made their books shit but it made in fact for excellent stories
>>
>>217411194
I haven't read much of C.S. Lewis, but Dostoyevsky couldn't draft to save his life, his books are decent conceptually, but are too bloated to be really effective.

If you can pinpoint the exact moment of decline, I'd say the S9 episode The Principal and the Pauper. They completely rewrite Skinner's backstory only to disregard all of it at the end of the episode. So fucking shitty.

>I defy you to find one fan that was growing up while it was at it's peak.
Everyone in the 90s watched and talked about The Simpsons, but no one called themselves "a fan". Back then things were much simpler. You watched a show but you didn't have to be part of am obsessed "fan" community. In fact, this show and the rest of 90s media mocked contemporary fan communities as being a bunch of nerds and freaks.
The world changed drastically since then. Now everyone is "a fan" and relentlessly defends their preferred corporate product online. They spend more time reading posts and watching videos about a TV show than watching the show itself. It simply wasn't like that back then. If you weren't a zoomer you'd know this
>>
>>217411241
Some will defend this episode saying that it's actually mocking tv shows that change a character's backstory as a cheap ratings ploy, which is true, but the problem is that it's not funny, so instead of coming off as a spoof of those shitty tv episodes it simply is one of those shitty tv episodes
It also happens to be right after the episode Homer vs the City of New York which is the last great episode of the series
>>
