The thing about Dark Souls 2 is that it fucking filtered people.Starting the game with just a few Estus Flasks and they being weaker and healing slowly, with longer drinking animation to boot. Way more enemies on the maps, weapon durability actually being a factor to consider, an actual penalty for dying repeatedly that could completely fuck you up, less i-frames by default on rolls, no easy access to 100% physical reduction shields from the start, and i could go on and on.People were not prepared for the actual challenge that was Dark Souls 2, that's why many ended up hating the game.
