https://www.szynalski.com/tone-generator/

You can play tones with this tone generator, you will hear some frequencies are clearly louder than others and some you can't hear at all, some you can't hear because you're human, some you can't hear because of aging or genetics, some are fucked up because of the room you're in, some are fucked up because your speaker/headphone drivers suck. But you'll understand that the frequencies aren't playing at an equal loudness. Microphones can also have this problem where they don't record all frequencies at equal loudness.

It is quite literally one of the most important characteristics of a headphone next to distortion. It's how the headphone sounds. If the frequency response is bad, the headphone will sound bad. Now, you can fix it with EQ, but only if you're not limited by distortion. And if there's a deep notch in the frequency response(like the pre-2021 LCD-X used to have before they fixed it) then even with EQ it might be difficult because applying a peak filter with a value of >15dB to fix one notch is a little difficult. If a reviewer doesn't post the frequency response then that "reviewer" is basically worthless. Subjective impressions from listening don't matter that much due to HRTF - meaning everyone hears things differently. What someone percieves as too much treble might be not enough treble for you. This is due to the shape of our ears and ear canals. So a review without the frequency response means nothing since despite the reviewer saying some headphones sound "warm", they might actually be bright to you. FR in a review is the bare minimum to be credible, even better if they post THD, group delay, cumulative spectral decay or step response. You don't see any of these in most reviews because audiophiles are retarded and would rather believe in changing the sound via gold plated cables of different DAC chips, among other things.
>>107810283
>How risky is it to buy used dac/amps?
If the seller has good reviews then it's probably fine. Really hard to break one intentionally and if the seller has decent reviews it's probably not a dead unit.
>would jds honor a warranty if I buy it used
Doubtful they would. Maybe if the guy still has the original receipt/invoice from when he bought them. But even then they might not.

I've been trying to get games running on Wine through a VM. I ran into errors about OpenGL not working or something similar. For a good while, I assumed it was just something about VirtualBox or something.

It turns out the whole goddamn time all I really had to do was install some 32-bit video drivers.

whats in /etc/fstab on the second disk where you copied your files?
what filesystem are you using on disk 2?
if you load second system and type in 'mount' into the terminal what does it show?
and also df -h

>I just went into Disks and mounted the root partitions, and by default they show up as 'media/mint/#######/home'.
thats not relevant, you are able to mount whatever you want however you want, this is just a mount point where you mounted it

Hello anons, I've been looking into switching from windows to linux like every other shmuck on earth at the moment but I have an Nvidia GPU, granted an older 1060
I know the driver support officially is non existent but are there drivers for older cards like this?
>>
>>107810181
Yeah you have to use version 580 instead of the new 590. Don't use alternative drivers, they're in their infancy.

I don't actually use Nvidia cards so I have no experience, but I'm pretty sure distros like Ubuntu will figure out what driver you need on their own and just install the correct one through the proprietary driver app.

It will probably be several years until open source drivers for your graphics card are mature, you shouldn't use them until then.

I don't understand why the linux community hates flatpak so much.
>sandboxed app

sounds pretty good to me, so why all the hate
>>
>>107810216
because anytime a flatpak needs access to something outside of its little sandbox everything breaks. Flatpaks are really only useful if it is an application that never needs to interact with anything else.

Weirdly true, I know Gentoo users who are scared of slackware and consider it to be harder
>>
>>107810259
>I know Gentoo users who are scared of slackware and consider it to be harder
nta but I used slackware for years. it is NOT harder than Gentoo, not even close. Slack's installation is harder than something like Fedora's automated install, but no where near as hard as something like Arch's manual install.
Using slack is just "run of the mill." What makes it "hard" - and I put that word in quotes for a reason - is its out of date / out of touch dependency management.
there is no package manager to tell you what dependencies are missing, so you have to painstakingly track them down.
which is really moronic in 2026. the slacker community acts like this some badge of honor or something when you waste 4 hours of day trying to get steam working.
also, it's poorly managed now. I mean really poorly managed.
it was one of the very first distros to hit the "mainstream" and back then it was pretty amazing (for its time). Now? it's a mess, it's a dead distro that hasn't realized it's dead yet.
Gentoo is a 100x harder than Slackware.
