Only Signature / Marfione specials for now, so base price is gonna be 1-1.5k for the entry model. Hopefully there's enough demand to warrant some regular models closer to the price of the Gen3 UT.
Mildly glad and extremely sad I'm not making them.

7mm rem mag would have addressed the intermediate cartridge problem better and I wouldn’t have to read so many faggots arguing about it.
>>
>>64339898
I know what you mean anon but we're talking about cartridges that can feasibly be used in a select fire infantry rifle. Also belted magnums aren't ideal for multi-small arm mil use (in machine guns for example)
6.5 Creedmoor, 7 Rem Mag are too big for an "intermediate" <--hate the categorizations but here we are cartridge to be used in an infantry rifle, it needs to be sized comparable to the 5.56 OAL
Anyway the OP FN IWS .264 is the most advanced and optimal yet available.
>>
>>64339766
It's a bit smol
264 gets similar BC with more charge volume
>>
>>64340132
The .264/6.5x43mm does seem interesting, but 6.5x39mm/6.5 Grendel has already been outclassed. Grendel belongs in a museum; it has the same BC as 6mm ARC, less flat shooting than 6mm ARC, slower than 6mm ARC, similar bullet weights (90 gr or 108 gr being common); it's just old news. It did do a great job of outperforming 6.8 SPC though.
>>
>>64340204
>outclassed
No, it hasn't.
.30-06 hasn't been "outclassed"
(You) can make an argument that cartridge X outperforms cartridge Y in certain metrics, but each cartridge also has its disadvantages. Barrel burning one of them, but there are others.

6.8 was always a fucking joke. Solution to a 'problem' that never existed

Is anyone developing drone shield?
>drones with proximity fuses that go off when they see something moving quickly towards them) (or something like that) and explosives basically just make an bubble around the ship.
>drones explode whenever they see any incoming missiles
>move out of the way for outgoing
>go back to the shit to recharge, and get replaced by another one when they do it
>alternatively, you could use tethered drones., but that has other issues, i would think
Why aren't we funding this? It seems like a great counter to ASMs

To point out just how insanely effective and efficient this armor layout is:

Ohio SSGNs each carry 154 offensive attack cruise missiles (Tomahawks), and they carry zero defensive armament.

Kirov BCs could only carry 20 offensive missiles (P700s) and had to devote space for about 150 defensive SAMs, despite displacing nearly 50% more than Ohios, to compensate for not having the superior "all or nothing pressure hull water armor" layout.

The Iowa refits displaced nearly 300% more than an Ohio SSGN but only had space for 32 ABL Tomahawks due to the armor and defensive armament (which is what even 16in was, generously, in 1980).

A 100,000t BB in 2030, if it had guns, would probably have fewer offensive missiles than an Ohio. If it didn't have guns then it wouldn't be a BB any more than an Ohio already is, but in that imaginary case my very rough napkin maths based on scaling Iowa and Yamato to 100k tonnes is that you would probably only get 150-200 tomahawk cells anyway, if you were devoting no large VLS space to long range SAMs and if your DEW took up almost no deck space by mostly being festooned on the superstructure and waists.

God the whole thing seems so fucking stupid.

Best ones were steel. Same secret sauce as later 'viking' swords. Makes you wonder why Romans never went with longer swords, seeing that they had the tech to make them. Gauls, on other hand, had long iron swords that bent like spaghetti.

No, go look up the shotgun it's based on.. in this case the cheek rest would be a spring loaded flap that you just pushed a button to open for loading.. the shotgun is downward ejecting, this would do the same thing.

I rly like this idea, its a neat design to upscale for this purpose, the biggest thing would be: no extra mags, (carbon tube instead) no bolt or gass ports.

It removes weight, and that's a huge factor.. and with the recoil, shooting rapid fire is counter productive, besides, ur gonna need a buddy just to carry the mags in that case.

Ergo, bud is correct in his autistic way of thinking.
>>
>>64340089
China's is more like this on steroids.
It is a very different gun conceptually. Far higher velocity and range, at the cost of size and recoil.
This is meant to be an upgrade to the current Milkor, without going all out.
>>
>>64340089
>>64340171
The Chinese version has the scope mounted on a spring so it doesn't kill the guy shooting it when it smashes him in the face with every shot.

With the "Drone Age" quickly coming upon us, what is even the answer to them in warfare? I'd never want to be a soldier but even now, I'd want to be one even less. If all it is is just you waiting around to get dunked by some pencil neck playing with a controller, what is the point? I sometimes hate the turn that the evolution of warfare takes because it just ends up making things even more miserable for everyone. Granted, it is warfare sure. Anyway, what is the answer for drones in warfare and how do you expect things to sort of evolve around drones? Like when tanks first hit the battlefield, what options were made to address them? What about when planes become widely used in combat etc?
16 replies and 4 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64339397
>What is the "answer" to drones?

Gulf War 1 or better combined arms and actual deep strikes and actual maneuver warfare to stop neo-WW1 trench idiocy. RC Jet drones with scaled down air to air + tiny AWACs + DEWs to sever fiber optic tethers as an energy saving option.
>>
>>64339397
Jamming, killing drone operators, programmed munitions, APS.
>>
Can small drones be detected by current radars?
Continuous, all-around surveillance using powerful radio waves poses the risk of the radar itself being detected and attacked.
>>
>>64339397
I think the most immediate and low-tech solution is AGLs with airburst munitions. I know Benelli was talking about an anti-drone shotgun but it sounds like a PR stunt. Shotguns can intercept drones but nowhere near reliably enough to warrant adding a whole extra guy to each squad who's just there to shoot quadcopters. From that point forward its an EW arms race until we can get lasers strong enough to at least blind a drone reliably mounted to anything bigger than a bicycle
>>
>Turret using whatever long range rifle cartridge you want and ideally old surplus rifles
>Tracks and shoots at anything it detects flying in it's range- except instead of just a camera, it has one of those extreme range microphones so before firing it does a simple check- does it go "bzzzzzzzzzz"?
>If it sees something it THINKS is a drone but is silent, and said drone does not seem to be on a direct course to hit anything you designate as important, it sends a confirm request to some wagie
>This prevents them from obliterating all birds in the area, but more importantly, not wasting ammo
>Design system to be as dirt cheap as possible, use the classic Supcom tactic of "t1 AA creep" to achieve saturation in important areas
>Also this would be one part of a greater network of drone defense, obviously this has flaws.

Probably. I remember in (Air Force) BMT one of the instructors was complaining about how expensive switching to OCPs (This was the ABU-OCP transition era) is. He even showed us the math on how expensive it would be for him to switch to OCPs, and it came out to... $500... and how he had to save up for that.
Don't get me wrong; if you're in a position where you have to buy new uniforms, but the military won't give you a uniform allowance for whatever reason, that is bullshit and you should complain (preferably to finance, not some trainees). But this dude, an E-6 (with special duty pay!), was acting like $500 would financially destroy his whole year lmfao. bro I've seen E-2s manage their finances better than this dude ahahahahahaha.
