It's theoretically possible to make a suit of armor out of currently extant materials that could provide perfect full-body protection against all small arms fire. There are already carbon nanotube composites that are 500 times stronger than steel, such that a suit of armor comparable in thickness to medieval armor would provide an effective protection against penetrating hits similar to that of a modern tank.

The problem is that it would cost millions of dollars to make a single suit of armor, and it would ultimately still leave the wearer vulnerable to many of the threats on a modern battlefield. While you could make an impenetrable plate, nothing's going to stop transferred kinetic energy from crushing the wearer's ribcage if he's hit with a burst of .50 cal machine gun fire, nor is there any way to protect an infantryman against the overpressure effects of a high explosive shell or bomb going off nearby.

yes. I was in the class, lot of gay microinfluencer drama. Someone had to carry his pack for him. you maybe hike 4 miles at a time, maybe 12 miles combined the entirety of the 3.5 days -- and he bitched out and stayed behind one patrol because he was nauseous from dehydration so his fat ass definitely didn't ruck that far

I would say he would be a water slave in the happening, but I don't think he would even be useful in that regard since he's definitely not a pack mule.

it's very easy to overlook how cumbersome a rifle truly is when it's only ever used to shoot from a bench or sits on a safe table as you and your buddy cycle through half a dozen different meme guns during the 10 minutes of shooting on a 90 minute range trip.
I had to toss my elcan onto a meme gun because having it slung for just 3 hours consecutively made it so I couldn't wait to get the rifle off of me. Now I just use a dot.

Tbf russians are souring about the war, probably getting really easy to bribe them to hand over whatever footage they need
>>
>>64642038
Is that really a surprise? Russian narratives have been that Ukraine has no more men and are fighting with old men and women, that Ukrainians are losing the will to fight, that the US pulling aid would get them a win, that the only reason they are surviving is NATO soldiers, that their win is assured.
Meanwhile they have effectively lost Syria, Venezeula ia being directly targetted, libya is being assaulted by rebels, their black sea access has collapsed, their international reserves are either spent or held by Europe/US, hell even Chinese banks that are happy to comply with sanctions, Europe is rearming and has added two nations to itself that has made Russian defence less tenable and more precarious.
Not only that, but they have been consistently fed Russian corpse piles that seem to only have gotten more dense and worse over time, videos of Ukrainian men rather than NATO fighting, even videos of dead Ukrainians on the Russian side, preemptive victories over towns only to "win" the same town several times in a row over the course of a year, the soldiers that survive are coming back injured or with little love for the system at all, and that spreads because they are men that have a voice in their families.
The slow movement of frontlines might seem like a cathartic theme for the average Russian, but it is the opposite, after 4 years it is a proof of Ukrainian will to fight, a proof that the war will last 20 years at least rather than the imminent collapse Russian commanders often cite as the future scenario for almost 4 years now.

Not only that but they have been consistently bombed even in remote areas, initially this serves as a unifying force, but as time moves, the blame shifts from Ukraine to Russia itself as it does not stop and in fact only escalates.

I would not be happy with this war as a Russian, given the population ratio. Their position of power and thus security is directly challenged by this war.
>>
Oh I forgot to add, meanwhile Russia is spending (losing) troops fucking around in Africa, importing foreigners en masse to try and inflate their way out of a monetary anf population crisis, while basically killing off rural Russian males who are the most conservative and giving their women to browns and chinks in their propaganda.

>If you're limited to stone-age technology then it's about as close to perfect as you can get.
Most of their technology was on a bronze age level. Except for metallurgy, but even that was a matter of time, considering that the Inca had developed bronze.
And I wouldn't discount spears and bows. Or maces.

There's a problem with thinking technology in terms of ages like an AOE tech tree. The Mesoamericans were pretty advanced when it came to agriculture, astronomy, and sanitation. Arguably higher than Europe. Incan architecture was also interesting, it was anti-seismic, which is a world first.

But yeah on most other aspects they were quite primitive compared to Europeans, did not have immunity to disease, and lacked iron, steel, horses, etc.
And the Aztecs were hated by everyone around them.
So they got BTFO by 300 alien invaders.

Automatics are superior to revolvers due to their high capacity and quick reload, but the average person is not anticipating a prolonged gunfight. A snub nose revolver is more practical considering the most likely usage will be when cornered by a single attacker up close, and the person drawing and firing it could be so full of adrenaline that they don’t have all their fine motor skills and are at risk of limpwristing the pistol or forgetting to remove a manual safety.
Plus a revolver can have its barrel pressed up against something and still be fired, unlike with automatics, as the slide could go into battery and render the gun unfireable.

because revolver heads feel they have to constantly justify their decision to carry a wheel gun with excuses other than "It's cool"
>>
>>64642087
yeah it's a weird argument considering the greatest power of a firearm is to stab someone really hard really fast who's out of your arms reach. I don't know why revolver dweebs think their attacker is going to forcefully kiss them; that's the most unlikely scenario of all by far

Dragons are the only real threat so probably a full lance of fast mediums with anti-air targeting computers and an accuracy focus. Resupply would be a problem so unfortunately stylish missile and gauss or LBX combos are out, but they'd otherwise be ideal, particularly with a kitchen sink of alternative LRM ammo for utility options. Probably just give them something like an ER large pulse laser, and fill the rest up with literally any anti-personnel energy loadout. Flamers and micro pulses, I guess.
You wouldn't need anything else so spend any leftover tonnage on engine upgrades because you travel a lot in this setting. Quad mechs might be a good call for that reason. Movement and kicking bonus, plus 360 torso twist for potential surprise dragons? Maybe throw on some heat banks or coolant pods for the unlikely case that they get close enough to torch you.

>9 July 1962 – Criticality accident.
>16 December 1965 – Criticality accident. Seventeen individuals received exposure to small amounts of radiation over a period of 14 hours.
>10 December 1968 – Criticality accident. Plutonium solution was poured into a cylindrical container with dangerous geometry. One person died, another took a high dose of radiation and radiation sickness, after which he had both legs and his right arm amputated.
>11 February 1976 – Unsafe actions of staff development at the radiochemical plant caused an autocatalytic reaction of concentrated nitric acid and organic liquid complex composition. The device exploded, contaminating the repair zone and areas around the plant. The incident merited an International Nuclear Event Scale rating of 3.
>10 February 1984 – Explosion.
>16 November 1990 – Explosion. Two people received burns and one was killed.
>17 July 1993 – Accident at radioisotope plant, resulting in the destruction of the absorption column and release into the environment of a small amount of α-aerosols. Radiation emission was localised at the manufacturing facility of the shop.

>8 February 1993 – Depressurisation of a pipeline caused 2 cubic metres (71 cu ft) of radioactive slurry (about 100 square metres (1,100 sq ft) of contaminated surface) to leak to the surface of the pulp radioactive activity of about 0.3 Ci. Radioactive trace was localised, contaminated soil removed.
>27 December 1993 – Incident at radioisotope plant where the replacement of a filter resulted in the release into the atmosphere of radioactive aerosols. Emissions were on the α-activity of 0.033 Ci, and β-activity of 0.36 mCi.
>4 February 1994 – Recorded increased release of radioactive aerosols: the β-activity of 2-day levels of Cs-137 subsistence levels, the total activity of 7.15 mCi.
>30 March 1994 – Recorded excess daily release of Cs-137 in 3, β-activity – 1,7, α-activity – by 1.9 times. In May 1994 the ventilation system of the building of the plant spewed activity 10.4 mCi β-aerosols. Emission of Cs-137 was 83% of the control level.
>7 July 1994 – The control plant detected a radioactive spot area of several square decimetres. Exposure dose was 500 millirems per second. The spot was formed by leaking sewage.
>31 August 1994 – Registered an increased release of radionuclides to the atmospheric pipe building reprocessing plant (238.8 mCi, with the share of Cs-137 was 4.36% of the annual emission limit of this radionuclide). The reason for the release of radionuclides was depressurisation of VVER-440 fuel elements during the operation segments idle all SFA (spent fuel assemblies) as a result of an uncontrollable arc.

>24 March 1995 – Recorded excess of 19% of normal loading apparatus plutonium, which can be regarded as a dangerous nuclear incident.
>15 September 1995 – High-level liquid radioactive waste (LRW) was found in flow of cooling water. Operation of a furnace into the regulatory regime has been discontinued.
>21 December 1995 – Cutting of a thermometric channel exposed four workers (1.69, 0.59, 0.45, 0.34 rem) when operators violated process procedures.
>24 July 1995 – Cs-137 aerosols released, the value of which amounted to 0.27% of the annual value of MPE for the enterprise.
>14 September 1995 – Replacement covers and lubrication step manipulators registered a sharp increase in airborne α-nuclides.
>22 October 1996 – Depressurisation occurred in a coil while channeling cooling water from one storage tanks of high-level waste. The result was contaminated pipe cooling system repositories. As a result of this incident, 10 people were exposed to radiation dose of 2.23 to 48 milli-Sieverts.
>20 November 1996 – A chemical-metallurgical plant in the works on the electrical exhaust fan caused aerosol release of radionuclides into the atmosphere, which made up 10% of the allowed annual emissions of the plant.
>27 August 1997 – In building RT-1 in one of the rooms was found to be contaminated floor area of 1 to 2 m2, the dose rate of gamma radiation from the spot was between 40 and 200 mR / s.
>6 October 1997 – Recorded increasing radioactivity in the assembly building, the RT-1. Measurement of the exposure dose indicated up to 300 mR / s.

>In 2003, the plant's operating licence was revoked temporarily due to liquid radioactive waste handling procedures resulting in waste being disposed into open water.
>In June 2007, an accident involving a radioactive pulp occurred over a two-day period.
>In October 2007, a valve failure during transport of a radioactive liquid resulted in spilling of a radioactive material.
>In 2008, a repair worker was injured during a "pneumatic" incident, involving a quantity of alpha emitter release. The worker's hand was injured and the wound contaminated. The worker's finger was amputated in an attempt to minimize spread of alpha-particle emitters throughout his body and subsequent radiological consequences.
>In September 2017, possible association with the airborne radioactivity increase in Europe in autumn 2017. Russia confirms 'extremely high' readings of radioactive pollution in Argayash, a village in the Chelyabinsk region of the southern Urals. Argayash is located 10 miles south of the Mayak plant. In January 2018, the French Institute of Radioprotection and Nuclear Security (IRSN) reported that Mayak could be the cause of the contamination. The radioactivity was due to Ru-106 indicating release from a late stage in the reprocessing (i.e. after the Ru-106 had been separated from other isotopes)
>>
>>64642100

The first occurred as a result of heavy rains causing Lake Karachay, a dried-up radioactively polluted lake (used as a dumping basin for Mayak's radioactive waste since 1951), to release radioactive material into surrounding waters. The second occurred in 1967 when wind spread dust from the bottom of Lake Karachay over parts of Ozyorsk; over 400,000 people were irradiated.

If you're going to get a 1911 for your first (and possibly only) gun I would shell the thousand bucks or so for a good, reputable manufacturer. I think they're great for first guns, my first was a Ruger sr1911 and I learned to shoot on it. But like this guy said, >>64640133, if budget is a concern I would way sooner go with some Leo trade in 9mm and if you enjoy it get a good 1911 to carry or a cheap one for range fun later. I really wouldn't want to bet my life on tisas or ria.

It’s hard to argue against them from a value standpoint, and in general I’m just happy people are buying and enjoying 1911s, but for me personally buying a Turkshit copy of one of the most quintessentially American firearms just feels… wrong.
