The dragon is the size of the ones in GOT, use GOT as the point of reference for most everything to be honest. If you want to be a furry abut this you can do a version where the dragon(s) are smart cookies that can talk and junk.

IMHO it would be quite difficult to project with any real consensus how the existence and use of dragons would affect the course of history, what with all the different trades and disciplines we have - engineering, agriculture, governance, metallurgy, history (mine's finance) - so the easiest is just to assume that overall history was not altered and remains the same, but with the influence of dragons on both sides and the existence of dragon-enabled tactics and technologies. with the overall outcome and therefore timeline remaining broadly the same.
>>
>>64751948
you can't really talk about history staying roughly the same, OP was pretty cunning in formulating it as a techlevel question
absolutely none of the retardation so amply evident in ancient warfare would have happened in the presence of dragons and dragon riders
early availability of aerial recon and communications would also have a profound effect on general governance, not just military strategy and tactics
imagine an ancient world where the ancient Greeks or Celts can draw accurate maps, where sending a message from Egypt to Spain takes a day, where assembling a huge mass of morons anywhere is just an invitation for them to get burninated, where the pyramids never get built because all that effort had to go into dragon-proof bunkers
>>
>>64751942
>on the other hand, you can be sure that the dragon-less would be throwing their best minds at the problem of how to kill one or otherwise negate the advantages it presents
Anon, I don't think you're really thinking this through and indeed have this totally backwards. High performance aircraft, aircraft at all really, is a super high technology endeavor that has always required an enormous industrial base, cutting edge research capability and so on. Breeding dragons (which demonstrably can be done by dark age shitholes to some degree) would be easier, not harder. Unless we're assuming some sort of deux ex machina plot armor thing where dragons can only be bred in shitholes due to "natural magic fields" or whatever such that advanced industrialized nations can't have them thus are motivated for tech instead then the exact same nations with an advantage in dragons would have an advantage in aircraft too. Mass production of fighters and bombers came from America, Europe, industrialized Japan (in WW2) etc, not shitholistan or backwardsville. Like, if your country wasn't producing any armored dreadnoughts and project global naval power in the 1800s and early 1900s (which here would probably also mean armored steam powered dragon carriers and anti-dragon AA cruisers too) then it wasn't in contention to be an air power either.

>1905 is when you could have timed fuses that actually work on artillery shells that can actually reach a couple thousand meters up
What. VT fuzes were very, very firmly WW2 technology, and even then was incredibly challenging. Militaries had recognized how useful proximity fuses would be for ages, but nobody could make it work until electronics got small enough and strong enough. 1905 was decades before that was possible. The germans never managed in WW2, VT fuzes were like, manhattan project or D-Day level secrets and importance, they were a big fucking deal.
>>
>>64751976
why are you fixated on aircraft? I specifically named AA artillery as the game changer
>VT fuzes were very, very firmly WW2 technology
"VT" fuzes were radar fuzes that got named "VT" to hint at them being "variable time" which was a very well known technology by then
it is perfectly possible to make variable time fuzes at 1905 tech level

>you can't really talk about history staying roughly the same
nta but in an Everett style many-worlds interpretation multiverse given effectively infinite possibilities there would certainly be some that by chance would roughly align (due to human factors and back and forths of chance) with the present day except dragons. This could be because as in GoT some sort of disaster mostly wiped them out in the past but eggs were hanging around and they happened to get reawakened at some arbitrary time, then due to low initial population and hoarding by whoever had them had a very long curve to be bootstrapped into general global usage (other countries had to espionage steal eggs or corrupt leadership of dragon country and buy them or whatever).

For the purposes of this discussion, which by definition involves a fantasy element, it's pretty reasonable to just pick that as the framing vs getting off into the arbitrary weeds of some other radically different world. I mean shit, in lots of other worlds enlightenment and industrial age never even happened, humanity was pretty static for tens of thousands of years and given some differences could easily still be dark ages tier today. Or conversely roman empire could have gone differently and gotten industrial millennia earlier.

Not military any more but I do have a pilot's license and I'm going to a flight lesson in 2 hours. If you can't stay ahead of the aircraft in a prop plane they're probably not going to put you in a jet, those move a lot faster.

At least these air deployed smart mines are limited by battery life so they're kind of self-liquidating.

Children will try to remove the explosives and use them as toys though, I can see little brown children in some middle eastern city playing tag amidst the ruins with demilitarised homing mines chasing them through bombed out compounds as they laugh and scream.

for those nog in the know the DGA is the procurement office. and also does internal testing/r&d organization.
so they'll try out weird and retarded shit just so they can say it's retarded.
or in this case doe some of their own testing first so they have a better idea of what they want if they ever try and procure a system. also helps them figure out if you are trying to bullshit them with your bid.

No it doesn't.
It hinges on the fact we've been asleep while our little brother was at the wheel.
It was fine back then because said brother might have been immature but he was increadibly skilled, wouldn't fall asleep and could stay focus on the road while having the collective prosperity of us both.
Now, not so much.
Maybe we'll stay friendly with the USA and next POTUS will be great for EU-USA relationship.
But whose to say the americans won't elected another retard in the near future ?
So lesson is learned : if we want to keep our agency when our interests are starting to become opposed to those of the USA, we better start working for it.

No need to, you just have to play the same trick that always worked and will always work post-nam. It's quite easily winrarable as long as you're willing to sacrifice 500 soldiers. Just have 500 Danish+EU soldiers die, and then make sure you have as much American soldiers dying, and then prep up the popcorn and see the internal US situation unfold over the shock. Let's see how the retarded ziggers at the WH try to justify to the families how they sent their son (mostly only one kid per family these days) to die an horrible death of hypothermia in cold waters, against a former historic ally for... for what, for who, exactly? So their pals at Exxon get more money, while their close circle in some Signal group chat made sure to buy the right stonks a few hours just before?
These ziggers are forgetting they don't have slaves under their palm, they're at the head of a country with democratic values, and they'll have to justify themselves. And it will be very funny. It has the potential to become an internal shitshow with unforeseen consequences that will end up with a shortage of popcorn.

Tubes are pretty shit to begin with. I don't understand why they still make them out of low-quality nylon that fractures if it's hit by a rock or a BB pellet.
> B-but aluminum would be a secondary fragment hazard, so we have to make them from fragile and low-quality materials!!
Still, ROC buckles are worse, and TT's designs are all absolutely terrible, designed by people who literally don't know anything about gear.
>>
>>64751860
>designed by people who literally don't know anything about gear.
This is all too common. And even the most innovative designs require user feedback. When you design your clever pattern in a downtown renovated arthouse, you are detached from the use case of your gear and are more worried if your skinny jeans go with your man bun as you cycle to work from your loft apartment. Taking part in field trials, listening to users and implementing feedback costs money. It's the development cycle that you pay for when you buy high-end, functional gear (that comes with a warrenty).

I just got a high paying job and in celebration I'm going to update my arsenal. Pls give input on my choices for these roles and let me know if there's something better:

>Ruger SFAR as main DMR rifle, open to other short receiver .308 ARs or a .308 bullpup
>M&P9 or 10mm Witness as handgun, I do live in grizzly country and this will be my primary HD/clearing gun
>Kel Tec RDB as building clearing/HD rifle
>KSG as HD shotgun
>Mossberg Aftershock as drone gun to be worn on a scabbard, can also double as bear gun with slugs
>300WM rifle as sniper (undecided but either a cheapo Savage bolty or go all in and get a Desert Tech SRS for $6k)

Already have my carry guns set and most of the common rifles for range funs but want specific ones that best fill those roles. What are your go-to's?

>SFAR
Decent.
>M&P9 or Witness 10mm
M&Ps are good to go. EAAs, not so much. 10mm is also a bit of a bastard to shoot and train with, because there's two different sets of "10mm" ammo commercially available: a) .40 S&W-tier down-loaded diet ammo to appease the guys who spent $500 on a Rock Island and are too cheap to spend another $50-100 on quality ammo, or b) "full power" fuck-you-and-whoever's-behind-you pissin' HOT loads that will shorten the lifespan of your handgun and finger joints by an appreciable amount. Your choice either way, just steer clear from the cheap guns for sure. It's a magnum round and requires a good gun if you like fingers and having them.
>RDB
I have heard of many niggling issues plaguing the RDB. At least fondle one in a shop somewhere before you send it. Kel Tecs are fun, but the construction on a lot of them is CHEEEEEAP.
>KSG
Go for it. One of the good models. Get a VFG for the pump so you don't un-hand yourself, and train yourself out of short-shucking it (there's a "wall" on the backstroke of the pump action that fakes you out into thinking the action has hit its limit and can go forward again).
>Aftershock
Lol no. Just use the KSG if that's a concern.
>300WM

The MWS is a heavy gun but it's more than worth it for the accuracy and reliability imo

My sister-in-law has an RDB-C and it's a fun little gun. The C and S models are sleek and easy to carry, real handy innawoods. She likes it because it's easy to hide and her parents are furiously antigun but I'm guessing you're not living at home with mommy and daddy. Triggers good, the gun's surprisingly reliable and downward ejection is nice.
On the other hand, it feels like a cheap plastic dollar-store toy to hold, one of the screws backed itself and disappeared into the grass (might wanna loctite em all) and the thin barrel is very temperature sensitive.

I love my AUG though. It's a joy to shoot, it's more accurate and way more robust. It's a gun I'd actually be happy to rely on in a shooting.
The stock trigger is a gritty and mushy but not to the extent that it ever impeded my ability to shoot. I've got the Ratworx 2020 sear in it now and that's made the trigger a lot crisper.
