Nope, not vehicle cards, upgrades on the unit entry itself. This codex is odd, it only superficially conforms to 2e design, and largely feels like it was only a change to weapon profiles and point costs. These upgrades don't exist in the other lists, so they won't be a factor going forward.

The differences are in which editions it's backporting from and how closely it aligns to 2e design pricples. The older 2 lists are based off of the 3e codex, so a difference in vehicle upgrades and unit details, as well as the character selections. I'm inclined to go with one of these two in the end, even if only as a foundation to my own efforts at a dark eldar fandex.

It's still a damn good game, I started much later, 4th edition is where I truly was able to really "get it" and actually play the game, so I was already far removed from what 2e was. But even still, picking it up after a chance encounter with one of the anons lurking this thread and playing it out for roughly a year shows that we is still a very good and comprehensive wargame. I missed this part, sorry. No, I will be going with the same list as presented above, changed where it must be in regard to vehicle and unit upgrades where they must be. Depends on what level you want to paint your minis to. If you want to actually do all the tiny detailing cleanly then having a natural bristle brush with a sharp point makes it so much easier it's unreal

The closest thing to a friendly sun is Corona the Radiant Sun who has agreements with almost every major civilization to show up periodically and blast their farmlands with energy in exchange for being worshiped (suns don't feed on worship, Corona is just a massive narcissist, even by sun standards). On the other end of the spectrum there's Scorch the Merciless Sun whose hobby of nuking random villages was so unpopular that the three major kingdoms in its orbit put aside their differences and pooled their resources to try and kill it (they failed to kill Scorch but succeeded in banishing it through a hole in reality, it hasn't been seen since).

In general if you're in my setting and you see a ball of fire hurtling through the sky in your general direction you should probably bow just to be safe. They're extremely petty.

You're looking at this process from the wrong side.
GW didn't sit down and choose the 4 gods based on some idea that they can represent the totality or most important elements of the emotional sphere or whatever.
They were a miniatures making company and asked themselves what demons they wanted to make: balrogs and classic red devils were one, glabrezu and succubi were another, and so were vroks, because at the start they were just copying dnd for minis, and they added nurgle because gross undead were cool and squiggly shit they would call horrors because everyone likes sculpting those silly things, together with other freaky sculpting/converting happy accidents; and then they arranged them in groups and that was it.

So if you want a new god added to the pantheon you have to start from an aesthetic and theme for its miniatures that would be missing from the current demons, and not at all some deeper metaphysical or emotional sphere, that can get slapped on later and fit to purpose.

There's differences the joint arrangement makes for that make me think otherwise, at least as a trained marching-gait, as spider-legs are much easier to just barely raise above the ground then shift forward with speed. But it does cost them throwing ability, so they have to wait for slings for ranged parity (...which already don't work with tight formations)

The exoskeleton gives a very obvious example for form-fitting full plate armoring of it, which in combination with the better footing means they're going to need more significantly outnumbered than simple area-coverage would imply when richly equipped. And formation fighting still works despite the lower packing efficiency.

In summary, they're almost certainly favorable for logistics at short distances and have a decent chance at longer ones, but take casualties more severely especially in the latter case. On the field, they're likely doing better in uneven terrain and in niches like the block-breaking zweihander units or skirmishing infantry, but need more costly equipment to support it.
