How would you implement undead PCs in a game, in a way that feels flavorful and meaningfully different from regular PCs?
>>97255864I was actually looking for mechanics, I worded my post poorly. Basically, looking for something that makes undead PCs mechanically different in a way that also enhances flavor. In terms of setting, pretty bog standard fantasy but turning undead will be a real risk and some players may choose to be undead from the start. The main hook will be going after the evil necromancer dude to try and reverse the condition.
>>97255944Honestly, I should. It's just fucking hard to get my friends to play something else but maybe I should just grow a spine and say we're playing a different game.
>>97256712Not what I'm looking to run, though.
>>97256018Rent free>>97255979Rent free>>97256160Rent free
>>97257344It's been a very long time since I played any version of D&D so apologies if some of this isn't relevant, but I'll bite.First thing is what sort of 'flavour' are you after? Associated with the night? Comparatively easy, they get penalties in open bright light. If you're feeling generous or want a "old and powerful can withstand it", maybe they get a save every (time period). Doesn't have to be 'crumbles to ash', we all know players will twist themselves silly to avoid even a -1.Anon above mentioned that a lack of disease etc takes out certain dangers. Well, yes - so have some new ones. Maybe being near a temple is like being near a gas cloud - consecrated ground rules may already exist, but is there a surrounding "irradiated area", so to say? That's why they avoid cities, there's loads of them. Tweak for god/alignment type as need be. Does even SEEING a holy symbol provoke some sort of constant, low-level Turn attempt? Similar response, populated areas are bad. Besides, you've more risk of meeting a paladin or cleric than out in the wild (though conversely druids may be an issue there).Want to keep travelling logistics A Thing? Vampires need blood, obviously, but if they're not that type of undead do they need some other sort of sustenance? The ever popular ghoulish cannibalism? Top-up spells or rituals or the like?Really though, no matter what game you play you'll still need to have at least some of these things in mind. Something like WoD does it for you, to a point, but you still need to have an idea of how you'd like your PC's to act and think.

Pardon the lighting my apartment sucks. But managed to get my friend to knock out a quick 1k game of aos. (Probably flubbed like half the teaching but he gets the basics since he's coming from 40k) he enjoyed it ,i loaned him my SBGL and played a list of ghouls (rough list since I usually have my terrorgheists and Ush so not used to being so fragile)We had fun, he says he might try atarting out with DoK weirdly enough since he likes the shadowy units and has heard me bitch about how much I hate fighting Morathi. Fun time though!
>>97257022Oui. Is your warlords mount even highly susceptible to hip dysplasia and arthritis in the legs and joints?
>>97257244well-rounded combined arms. No elite infantry though. Your units are bad. You can allocate points to make them good. You get the points by urinating on terrain.
>>97257244>how do the chorf playIn theory, GW designed them to be a very balanced combined arms force where you can allocate your special points to power up whatever you want to be better that round. In reality, most of the force is incredibly underwhelming, it's not that whatever you give points to will be crazy good, it's that whatever you give points to will be not shit. The bull machine is not amazing and despite being very machine focused in the lore, the bull centaurs are the most meta relevant unit. Rules and points could be changed obviously but it's kind of a bad feel if you get bait and switched into the faction thinking your machines are going to be doing the heavy lifting when they most likely won't. Can't speak to the spearhead specifically, but it looks fine for what it is. a ten block of chaff, a leader, a medium sized monster and a ranged unit is pretty par for the course of what spearhead boxes give you. >is there something you would reccomend insteadif you love chorfs and are all in on the aesthetic you should get them, but if your unsure and other factions interest you, you should consider trying to find different spearhead on discount. You'll save some money and if you decide you like that other faction, there will be more units to get and expand to a full army. Chorfs basically just have those units +centaurs and hobgrots, and hobgrots are total shit as you can't even assign the special poitns to them and make them worth anything.
Did a lil painting, gonna call it a lil early. Thank you aosg very cool.

>>97256991>A conscious, intentional, structured, deliberate attempt to take the core EU narrative and pare away all the fucking whacky and inconsistent elements is what they *should* have done, but they're not doing that, the one cunt who did that was also the least creative producer on earth and made an entire movie and two tv series literally just making "historical reference but IN SPAAAACE"
>>97256277>And ok, so most of their continuity is crap, doesn't change the fact that that was the only logical move. This is the crux of the matter. After the trainwreck of TLJ and Ep9, and after the combined desasters of BoBF and Kenobi, the main timeline is basically radioactive. In this sense Acolyte is not even relevant because nobody ever gave a single flying fuck about high republic era anyway. It obviously did loads of monetary and cultural damage to SW, but this almost felt intentional.Yes, picking and choosing from the old EU is the right way. This is what Andor and R1 and Mando did. It is what Kenobi sorta-kinda tried, but I'll be blunt and say that even the Jedi video games did a better job of telling a 'Jedi lost their connection to the Force' story than that show.It is the easy way to get to a pool of ready-made stories, and characters, or character concepts. I guess people here who maybe wrote a TTRPG campaign, or played through one, recognize this as the cheap and easy way to get a somewhat interesting story and world to romp around in.Disney's problem is that they just refuse to do this in a smart way, and then hire absolute idiots as writers. Seriously, most SW projects since Disney took over the amount of shit that just died with a retarded script before even teh first scene was shot is just stagering.
>>97257544>historical reference but IN SPAAAACEYeah, he really took a close look at GL's SW when he did that. It's not like Lucas was beating around the bushes here, he straight up said so in interviews. Was the !not French Résistance on Ghorman a bit too direct? Maybe, but compared to the dumpster fires of Kenobi, BoBF and Acolyte this is nitpicking turned up to 11.The single most jarring and bad thing in Andor (at least for me) was the dude wielding the AK in S1. Absoltely no excuse for shit like that, 9001 random cosplayers do it better.
>>97257576>BoBF and KenobiNeither were relevant or damaging to the setting besides the final fight with vader being being super stupid.Don't confuse low budget slop with actual mistakes. Every large franchise will have slop. It's inevitable>It obviously did loads of monetary and cultural damage to SWbecause the MC's actress was a retard and so were the marketers. The producer/writer were pretty skilled and even read the source material that was a miracle in an on itself. In five or so years people who watch it without context will drop reviews mostly along the lines "this was good but EP 3 was cringe" and the series will likely be labeled an example of a missed opportunity / bad fan outreach.>>97257589>Yeah, he really took a close look at GL's SW when he did thatYeah, he took from the most ridiculed visual elements of Clone Wars and Revenge. Not from the intentionally uncanny and highly original designs of Phantom Menace or the classic space opera meets new age aesthetics of the main trilogy. Comment too long. Drew up my map for 5 leagues after using a generator to get the initial landmass and landmarks. It's surprisingly fun. Haven't done something like this since I was a kid. Also we need to behead whoever came up with the captcha of the dots in squares. I keep forgetting I need to read the prompt.
>>97256068I've been meaning to give 5 Leagues a go. Seems up my alley. Unfortunately most of my larger terrain is with my dad still (he made a lot of it) so I'll need to put together some more unless I want every encounter to take place in a dungeon or campsite.
>>97254664Got more pictures of your FNV minis anon
>>97256325Yeah it's been cool so far. I need to get more experience with the combat though. It feels a bit weird with the 3 clash thing and basically everyone can die instantly if the roll is right. I think I prefer rangers of shadowdeep combat. I wonder if I could use the combat from that with the campaign mechanics from 5 leagues or if it would break everything. You'd need to redo every item, so might not work.

>>97255656My favorite thing with IM is you can make a Lightweight Xenos Hide Vest (or bodysuit if GM allows, but is reasonable) & per the suggestions & rules of the game it would be a rating 6 (8 if also Mastercrafted) with the Subtle trait, meaning it would stack with other armor. Meaning you could (with great time & effort) create an full armor stack of 16 (even more with Augmentation & such
>>97256888So he’s tricked you, eh?
Genuine question, there’s no real answer to it, mostly looking for opinions for the sake of narrative flavour for my game. What is the connection between Cegorach and the Deceiver? Are they the same being, somehow? Are they connected? Is Cegorach just the Deceiver’s longest ever deception, or is the Deceiver Cegorach’s biggest joke? Or have one of them pretended to be the other, on occasion?
>>97257601My GM is very wary of stacking gear qualities for this very reason. MC bodysuits can get very silly.
>>97257643It's about as busted as being a Machine Trait Admech with a bunch if Unnatural Attributes in FFGNothing wrong with a bit of broken power gaming. Something I was pretty disappointed in is that they didn't take the time to make gear more... bespoke(?) In the Requisition Guide. They did that in the 4e Warhammer Fantasy books, the item traits & stuff are VERY heavy handed. Like how shields can be destroyed in one blow & not even having the durability trait can save it completely. This means shields are pretty shit to invest it
Thoughts on Scion?
>>972575392e is a better game than 1e. Goes for more cinematic mechanics than simulationist which fits the theme given it is all about building your character's story and legend to godhood. Pick 1e, 2e, whatever homebrew lore you want since the mechanics can accommodate within reason.

>>9725572950% chance of hitting the vitals vs. 84% of hitting the torso isn't exactly a no-brainer though. Although the vitals is usually better from a pure 'DPS' perspective, and the penalty for stun and knockdown is great, having a higher chance per turn of inflicting significant penalties on your opponent is also a pretty big deal. This applies even with better (effective) skill; the difference between an opponent who has a 10% chance of successfully shooting back at you and one who has a 2% chance is enough that I would usually be willing to take more turns to bring them down.

I’m running a low fantasy game, and social advancement is gonna be a thing. So the PCs are gonna be rubbing elbows with a lot of noble families as they make their way into high society. I’m just asking for NPCs and ideas. Most of the nobility are humans, but a few are half-elves and halflings.

>>97250544>"How do you do Ace Customs? Are there any? Do they have improved performance, or are the exact same as other mechs with a different finish?"In Mekton Z, you can build anything (pretty much) so you could just design a version of whatever grunt unit that's little better. Faster, more maneuverable, better armor or weapons, whatever. There's also "Maneuver Pool," which is a metacurrency pilots developed when their Piloting skill gets above 5. There's a Mekton tech feature called A.C.E. (Actuator Control Electronics) which multiplies a pilot's Maneuver Pool. So an ace pilot with a Piloting of 7 in a grunt unit would have a 2 points in his Maneuver Pool, but in an ace custom unit with 2.5x A.C.E. would have 5 points in his Maneuver Pool. The Gundam RPG that was based on Mekton Z actually called the A.C.E. system "Ace Custom" and called the Manuever Pool "Ace Points."
