>>97367491All the things explained by particle physics and microbiology in real life happen because of spirits in this setting, so you can't make plants grow by setting the right material conditions, you have to get the plant's spirit to induce it.Mages can do some stuff with individual plants on that front, but not like a whole field of crops to sustain a community. And yes, if you're accursed nature itself is against you, so you can't rely on the wilds as your home.
>>97367529so what would happen if the nature spirit got killed?
>>97367529If I take the nature spirits from someone elses land could I double my crop?Could I build a large tower and put all of the food production in it?

It is probably not too controversial to say that the art of modern rulebooks is made with female representation in mind. These women are predominantly filling important roles, such as archmages, military officers, or nobles. But how come there is barely any art that shows them in peril, or at a clear disadvantage? Regardless of their status. There is no shortage of men in peril.Neither in classic nor in modern art.
>>97362119NTA but it feels like you're arguing semantics
>>97362635>the difference between "feeling that you ought to be given X" and "taking X" is semantics

Goblins have existed in folklore for centuries in various forms, but where and when was it decided that Goblins are green? in 1st edition d&d, thwey're described as having various skin shades, green not being specified or standing out among the.a lot of people assume warhammer, but spiderman had a green goblin before warhammer, so what the fuck
>>97351927How does goblins and/or orcs being green even work on a biological level, assuming that they’re mammals? And why would they need to be green?
>>97351927In the D&D era, it wasn't settled that goblins were green as a default. People who made art or described goblins just picked whatever colour and appearance they thought was most fitting. There wasn't an equal amount of representation for each "type" of goblin, because it was done independently by many different people who didn't confer beforehand. By blind evolutionary luck, some settings, or even individual images, with green, big-nosed goblins became more popular than settings without them. This meant that the next generation of settings took a greater amount of influence from that kind of goblins, causing a goblin snowball effect. At a certain point, that style of goblin became the majority, then the default.
>>97351927How did this topic impact your last dnd session? How exactly did goblin skin color come up? Be detailed and specific.
>>97357994camouflage?
>>97351927It was Spider-Man's fault.
I'm trying to write a campaign and have a good idea of where I want it to go, but I'm not sure how to get started. In your current game, what was the main threat facing the party in their starting location?
>>97364443Shipwreck.
>>97366834Because if you had any sense you'd pick up on the meaning. You're not writing a novel. Tell your players what you're doing then do it.
>>97364443>what was the main threat facing the party in their starting location?two unrelated ones: one was a member of a minor branch of the huge and powerful Alibakkar merchant family that got it into his head that he'd rather be a robber knight, and the other was a sea hag controlling the weather to keep Amn's navy grounded for reasons related to the BBEG's overarching plot to ruin that nation because they're the only ones with Carrack technology to get over the Trackless Sea where his fortress is.
>>97364443>write >gameDoomed from the start.
The party, their target, a dangerous enemy they didn't know about beforehand, and a party of two "unrelated" NPCs all stuck on the same cruise ship for two days. Keeping it compact made the prep easy and made for a tense scenario where the PCs know they can't run from their failures.

>>97347512>you might want to talk to a shrink about why you think it's a good ideaI did, and they told me that so long as I didn't hurt anyone or myself it wasn't anything to be concerned about. This is basically how all therapy is. "Do you want to kill yourself or someone else? If no, please stop bothering us."This was after getting all nutrition and supplement stuff done (which combined with working out did have a side effect of actually making me WAY happier and healthier) but, no, still wanted to eat... "placenta".Finally got to do so this year (consensually, ofc) and holy shit, it's like everything is quiet all the time now, I'm so much less highly strung, I didn't even realise how bad it was until I was out of it. So hey, if you've had a compulsion to eat long pig for most of your life and you can't fix it...Sorry for the blogpost but I don't exactly get to talk about this often and on the Vietnamese Caligraphy Forum everyone is potentially the cannibal anon.

I'm doing my best with some orc dice tables. Feel free to roll on them, make suggestions or just build one by picking whatever you want:Creature your own orc:... Roll D9Species Origin:1. Torture-Spawn: Once men, broken and corrupted on the breaking wheels of a cruel empire.2. The Cursed: Cursed by a higher power for betrayal, sacrilege or some other sinful acts. The curse twisted them, made them ugly as their deed. 3. Proto-Humans: The crude first draft of creation. Flawed and hardened by envy.4. Blighted Land: Corrupted by a poisoned land. The rot is in their blood. They think clean water is poison and sunlight a curse. 5. Weird Evolution: Boars, Apes, Wolves or Reptiles that learned to walk on two legs. They are as cruel as mother nature. 6. Stone-Spawn: Once the stone itself grew a hatred for the living world above. Fearing the sun, they crept from their rocky caves by night. 7. Manifestation of Evil: They coalesced from the collective hate, fear, and violence of mortal minds. 8. Homunculi: Concocted in the alchemical crucibles of a dark wizard. Risen from a black magic brew of blood, mud and something else. Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>97367492... Roll D10Individual Origin:1. Breeding Pit: Born in a brutal pit or warren. Harsh, overcrowded conditions foster toughness and immunity to disease. Many die young. Survivors are resilient.2. Natural Birth: Born of an unloving orc mother and raised with siblings. Fosters a minimum amount of pack loyalty, less corruption, more instinctive bonds.3. The Black Cauldron: Alchemical gestation in a necromantic vessel. Exposure to toxic, corruptive substances shaped your form from the beginning.4. Corrupted: Once Human or Elf, twisted by torture, curses, and dark magic. You know the weaknesses of the "pure" races first-hand. 5. Mud-Grown: Ritually grown from corpses buried in mud and reanimated with blood and dark chants. 6. Battlefield Incarnation: Spontaneously awoken from a battlefield's carnage. Blood, corpses, and hate made new flesh. Memories of war.7. Half-Breed / Rape-result: Born of violence. Your mother was a captive of another race. You grew up between worlds, despised by orcs and feared by others.8. Hatched: You did not crawl from a pit or emerge from a womb. You hatched from a leathery egg, laid in a warm muddy heap or within a beast's carcass.9. Fungal Fruiting Body: You grew in damp shadows. From blood-soaked humus, a weird fleshy, fungus bore you as its fruit.10. Alchemical Failure: You were an experiment that failed. Too weak, deformed, or mentally aberrant. Cast out as useless dross.
>>97367500... Roll D5Size 1. Goblin-Size: Frail, quick, and cunning. Masters of stealth and dirty tricks. Weak in a straight fight.2. Small: Stunted and wiry. Tough and agile. Perfectly suited for cramped conditions.3. Medium: (almost) Human-sized and proportioned. The most common and adaptable form.4. Large: Towering and heavily muscled. A brute of terrifying strength and endurance. 5. Huge (Troll Blood): Massive, thick-skinned, stupid, and monstrously strong. A walking engine of raw destruction.

>>97367410Very grim. They need to fire basically everyone who had a hand in writing the books this edition.
>>97367357yeah he's alright, his ability makes him weirdly slippery and mobile. he's not as tough as rockguts but nothing is, they're one of the toughest units in the game. dankholds damage is about on par with a whole squad of rockguts though. you dont want to go facetanking with him, throw him behind your front rockguts or some squigs or grots. he can do some cheeky shit with that combat move, especially around objectives. but since his ability is once per (army) you probably dont want more than one or two max, diminishing returns. definitely not unplayable at 150
>>97364032>vore
>>97364399>>97364411On his best warscroll in 2e he was still either a niche win more pick against other melee armies or people massively misplayed his rules which is why he got errata nerfed in 3e. Players didn't check ranges when models were removed and just rolled if the harvester was in range of the unit. The faction as a whole needs a ground up rewrite. They fucked up when they made healing tied to specific units instead of an army trait. Even worse when you try to make a monster unit on a smaller base a obligatory tax to make your staple infantry not suck, meaning it's always going to be 10ish wounds on a 4 up, unable to hide and immediately shot off the board. Obr is and always will be the tutorial faction that is an impossible mental hill for some people to climb over.

>>97308348Yeah, D&D is really poorly designed. Why did they give all the interesting options to only some of the character concepts?
>>97333964>>97334119>>97334388Can also use the Bone template, or back-adapt pathfinder's Bloody skeleton or skeltal champion (Which itself seems less like an adaptation of the Bone template and more an attempt to turn Eberron's Karrnathi Skeletons into a template
>>97348020Or alternatively, I could use a system I don't have to fix, since the designers did the jobs they were being fucking paid to do.
>>97349349What are you talking about? You don't need to deal damage to end an encounter. If you're fighting a single shambling mound or whatever, and you cast force cage on it, you win. You can just leave. You don't have to kill things and there's very little incentive to do so. Most of the decently high value density treasure isn't found on monsters, and random magic items are just vendor trash, so it doesn't matter if you miss a few. Everything you use will be crafted from gold you get from selling ultra-valuable gems and other similar items.
>>97367102This is why most higher level creatures have some manner of dimensional travel.Even still, saying that the optimal way to play the game is to render obsolete large parts of it's core system and assumption doesn't reflect well on the game in play.

Necromancy Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What Trench Crusade is notTC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/Comment too long.
