What if high level cats turn into wizards?
>>
>>97216650
I am not much of an anime or manga fan, but I did like how in the Soul Eater setting witches all have animal motives, or can turn into their respective animals — but there’s this one “witch” (…Blair) who is really just… a magical cat who can turn into a human. A cat cosplaying as a witch lol. Although who says cats can’t be witches?

They hated OP because he spoke the truth, not just because he was a fag.

Chaos has the potential to be very interesting, but GW does the laziest, most uninspired tripe version each and every time. And the faggots cap that bland shit gruel off with a "...and chaos is inevitably destined to win" to give it that soulless corporate stink.

What "magical realm" and edgy stuff do you like including in your RPGs?
For me is forceful genderbending spells that can't be undone.

How do you feel about scheming evil kobolds? Cause I might have a story for you...
>>
>>97215754
I think of kobolds as redundant discount gobbos only good for midget tossing challenges, but I'll admit that's just because I'm still very pissed at my very first DM always playing them like vietcongs and killing off my characters back in the early 90s. So, I'm always up for a story in which they get btfo.
>>
>>97153880
I am so terrified of my players pointing out magical realm that my NPCs generally point the exact opposite direction, meaning we have settings full of tittymonsters who treat other people with respect.
>>
>>97217068
So I want you to imagine my kobold leader--she's a stunningly sexy draconic little vixen. Something like pic related, even with a red dragon great-great-grandfather She flirts and teases mercilessly during combat, focusing on her illusion and enchantment powers (she's a mighty sorceress) as well as water and ice (her staff). She's also evil to the core, and wants to conquer the neighboring towns to enslave them.

The party fights her, and after battling their way through minions and illusions and mind control and water control, overpower her. easily She starts pleading for mercy, but they're so mad they decide to have some fun at her expense.

They stuff her magic staff down her throat and activate it. Her eyes bug out and she gurgles something about not knowing what they're doing. Water starts cascading down her throat, filling her up, They hold her over her own lava pit, like a marshmallow. Being distantly related to a red dragon, she's resistant to the fire damage--but not to getting warm in general.

All that heat turns the water to steam, and her body starts to bloat unevenly, especially in her tits and ass which get bigger and bigger. She screams for mercy, barely intelligible through the staff stuffed down her throat, earning a good round of laughs. She locks eyes with the bard woman holding her, terror on her face before she explodes in a gory mess.
>>
>>97217734
I'm not into furrydom, but the tits and ass bloating was way hot, bravo. Tell me, how did your players respond to this? Don't they tease you about your magical realm made of exploding scalies? Mine do. Even if I'm very restrained, they still joke about my rogue's gallery being feminists and hiring way too many female mooks than normal villains should... I'm sure they would be pissed rather than amused if I started being more overt.

>A man who is going to write a lot of Mortasheen perks tonight.

Isn't he that the SJW setting Tera was into because of all the cronenberg freaks? are you adopting his WIP?
>>
>>97217334
I haven't thought about Tera in years so I neither know nor care if he made a WIP. It is very much not a SJW setting apart from doing the indie TTRPG thing of drawing attention to pronouns though. There is nary a hint of modern day politics, it is just a bunch of goofy little ugly guys doing goofy little gross things (and also one incredibly buttblasted AI, and also regular humans only surviving in hermetically sealed suits/environments but who are actually having fun with it all)
>>
>>97217341
Well you should at least steal the location roll table since he actually talked the original writer into making that for him.
>>
>>97217382
Hard pass. In the time since...whenever that happened, the setting has been converted from website scribbles to a published TTRPG, and a few things have been swapped around, renamed, changed up etc.

The problem is that, after ten years, everyone had figured out and adopted various homebrew fixes for 5e’s shortcomings. And, given how much WotC pushed the community and homebrew as the strengths of the system, people felt like they were doing what they were supposed to.

Then, when 5.5 released, it neither incorporated the most popular homebrew fixes nor remained compatible with them. With a decentralized approach to homebrew, there were always going to be some people that preferred their fixes to WotC’s patch job, but their failure to address the most-commonly homebrewer issues resulted in NOBODY preferring the official update. Their subsequent releases focusing more on updating older splat material to 5.5 also hasn’t helped, since it doesn’t provide anything truly new to tempt people to adopt the new rules.

Add the OGL debacle and the number of people who cared enough to cancel their D&D Beyond subscriptions in protest. You gotta assume at least some of those people stuck to their guns enough to stick with the older rules on principle alone.
>>
>>97216970
>Yeah, but one person dickriding a system on /TG/ doesn't mean everyone likes it
The point was that there is only one guy who claims it's good and he also seems to be extremely mentally ill anyways, so that says less about D&D and more about that one guy being retarded

The world of business goes
>Sleep on the IP
WHY AREN'T YOU DOING MORE THINGS WITH X IP!?
>Don't sleep in the IP
WHY ARE YOU OVERUSING IP INSTEAD OF DOING SOMETHING NEW!!

What so far I find as the best path is doing, well, similar stuff (like Dark Souls to Elden Ring which the same thing basically) but it can also flop (like Pathfinder to Startfinder)
>>
>>97217494
That's true. Especially since D&D isn't some small kickstarter system like ACKS, DC20, Broken Empire, Without Number, etc that might have only a few 1000s of people playing it now. This is the biggest system out and if their new one is shat on by most people, doesn't matter what the one person dickriding says. It's are the sling books and PDFs like their last edition

Based OP. Magic has turned into gay marvel capeshit.

Look at classic fantasy like Gandalf in LOTR, Willow, Conan, even Greek Myth, etc. magic is NOT stupid superhuman power shit. Look at Gandalf even in the MOVIES, the most powerful thing he did was blow his pipe smoke into the shape of a boat and turn his staff into a flashlight
>>
I blame anime as well
But i like that in dbz theres a difference between ki blasts and actual magic. Only magic was barely relevant in db and none in z
Magic irl is just about using astrology to better stats

Roughly around AD&D2, probably more than a decade before you were born.
>>
And how your ideas translate to a game system? Asking the GM whether your magic sounds mysterious enough every time you want to fling a fireball at a pack of goblins?

Get the fuck out, failed novelist.

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void,
Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenos Rampant, Xenotactics...
...and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.

I love MFZ for the idea, but the implementation fucking sucks. You'd think building around Lego sets you would see some serious mech creation rules that reward you for going out of your way in designing some fun miniatures instead you get anemic rules right romp that is at best good for introduction into wargaming and then forgotten.

>But medieval line warfare does, because... Uhhh
Anon do you realise Napoleonic troops and formations were MUCH faster, more mobile and less static than medieval or Renaissance ones, and unlike not!Medieval shit, Napoleonic armies had an actual chance of countering casters with their highly mobile and long range artillery. Lastly, Napoleonic tactics worked against 'magic-like' effrcts like shot at with grapeshot, artillery, Mortars, etc., where as medieval warfare isn't. Yet all fantasy warfare is depicted as medieval warfare?
Your argument is very poorly thought out

>>
>>97207948
This shit is also more fun in single player vidya than tabletop.
>>
>>97217103
I'm going to advocate for skill expression, I used to go undefeated with a fucking charmer deck during very toxic formats in Yu-Gi-Oh by virtue of how much fucking gas I could shit on the field and summon/interrupt between a synchro engine 4* spellcaster support and kaijus to enter rank4/8 plays.

I was not meta or engaging with it but dear lord I still remember someone complaining I had 2 negates 2 boardwipes and 2 targeted interruptions with a discard from his hand in his turn protection and another negate coming while I still kept 4 cards on hand before my turn ended, only then I understood that I cooked cancer with a joke archetype.

Sometimes you don't need to follow meta to break a format, just doing redundancy and playing as intended works.

For the record before blood angels were buffed, before transport and movement rules were changed and reavers were buffed I was already playing list with them to absolutely fuck with people in their deployment and leave hem without a single scoring unit or HQ turn 1. Meta is far more than just copying lists or following a similar style of play, finding a way to prevent the other players from fucking playing before they even get to deploy or end up in a disadvantage because they can deploy/redeploy properly is a different kind of meta that often goes ignored until it explodes in you face several times in a tournament.
>>
>>97195868
It didn't really change. The metachasers are just a loud minority on the internet. The majority of the people do the hobby like they want, at home with friends. Nobody cares for the torunaments and the meta that much. The "pro"-gamers just want too believe they are the majority. Don't listen to them. Fuck them!

Aren't these faces based on the faces in-game already, just dressed up as different chapters? the black space wolf looks like the grappling hook guy, just with a less mangled face and an eyepatch (which is stupid)
>>
>>97217594
Whoa whoa whoa you can't just say that all black people look the same
>>
>>97217396
it's a miscalculation because they're including the faces as self-inserts for people who want to play the most stereotypical version of the chapter possible
fewer people would care if the game featured multiple space wolves and it featured non-Fenrisians recruited as primaris marines

I don't know if the question was ever addressed as to whether Fenris actually has enough climatic or genetic diversity to have races corresponding to the original races of Earth. Knowing modern culture diktats, the answer is obviously "YES, everywhere is as diverse as the modern UK", but being completely fair and asking the question of writers in the 90s looking at this from a sci-fi perspective, what would they have said?
Bear in mind, there's tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of years of isolation that went into making the IRL races different, whereas 40k only has planets populated ~20,000 years at most (pre-imperium). Some planets could have had time-warp shenanigans during the pre-imperial dark age, but even then, divergence would be less likely to happen internal to the planets, but rather the planet's population would become distinct from the baseline human norm, especially if the planet had the culture and technology to allow intercontinental travel, as most would have.
We know more or less that Fenris:
>has no climate equivalent to Africa; the warmest regions are probably comparable to Canada (no idea about sunlight/UV protection)
>has a small, low-turnover population for an Imperial planet, but a high population for its tech level
>inter-continental travel exists because sailing is a huge part of their culture, even before the imperium
>the planet might have started as a viking-werewolf theme park with genetic engineering (its inhabitants might be skewed towards viking-like workers, but presumably people from all over the human colonies visited and settled/were trapped during the DAOT)
>>
>>97217714
>(if not hundreds of thousands)
