Falleen are a really interesting race and the highly inflammatory rumors that they use some unseen body chemical to influence non-falleen people around them is completely false and utterly speciesist behavior.>MuH pHeRoMoNeSThat's just bigotry from backwards outer-rim yokels who couldn't point out a Falleen if it was the only non-human in a lineup.I actually met Prince Xizor himself during trade negotiations as a representative for Kark MegaIndustries - Plaststeel Division and let me tell you he is an amazing man with nothing but the good of his people at heart. I was taken aback by his warm and friendly demeanor, despite the utter tragedy his people suffered during planet-wide pandemic that has decimated his people. It is with great pride I signed the declaration of intent for Kark MedaIndustries to sell a majority share of our projected Plasteel production for the coming ten years to Xizor Transport Systems for use in refugee relief work at a greatly reduced rate. This strategic partnership will ensure not just growth for both companies in the long term but also provide sustainable housing to the billions of refugees fleeing the ongoing terrorist activities in the outer-rim territories.
>>97330011>Luke, did I ever tell you about Ken, the Jedi Prince? No? Just as well. Nevermind. Forget I said anything."
>>97331231XO, reset the clock.
>>97330011I choose to believe that the video game is the version of Shadows of The Empire which Dash tells while trying to score Chiss pussy after he faked his death.
The final Lucaspilled prequelcel truthnuke is that the romance scenes in Attack of the Clones are good too. They're beautiful-looking and memorable. They're sincere in a way that you rarely see in modern films, evoking the earnest innocence of a bygone time. The "cringey" dialogue is just the standard elevated Star Wars style ("We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete") applied to a romantic context. Lucas sought to starkly differentiate the style and tone of the romance from the one between Han and Leia in the OT, desiring as always to deliver something new and unique. "Across the Stars" is one of the greatest love themes ever written. It was an act of Providence that Natalie Portman ended up "slumming" it in this film when she was at her absolute peak, because no other director would have done her more justice, or so easily ensured her immortality. It’s so deeply funny that Lucas shot this movie with a prototype digital camera with on-paper specs that made other professionals think he was joking. She looks better in Attack of the Clones than any other film she's ever been in.
It is probably not too controversial to say that the art of modern rulebooks is made with female representation in mind. These women are predominantly filling important roles, such as archmages, military officers, or nobles. But how come there is barely any art that shows them in peril, or at a clear disadvantage? Regardless of their status. There is no shortage of men in peril.Neither in classic nor in modern art.
>>97329675That's the problem, they don't look cool. The modern "strong woman" is the most pathetic thing that exists.
>>97329494>Bruh it's a gnome with long hair viewed from the backWtfI also thought she was a woman and human.
>>97330167>Homer isn't realI appreciate your boldness, but since there are no females I can win by engaging in this rivalry, I will refrain from doing so.
>>97330909Correct, a thing doesn't become a power fantasy just because somebody put it in a story. Glad you agree with me.
>>97330961>destroying your enemies isn't a power fantasybruh
At what age do magic users start training in your setting?
>>97330092Due to magic not being confined to anything especially unusual, despite the best efforts of no few witch-hunters and would-be Higher Powers, ~80% of magic users do so instinctively, autonomically, or wholly passively, such as unreasonably large birds flying anyways, various made-of-weird-shit critters, or that one jackass who's face seems immune to punching so long as he's smug enough to provoke it.~16% are those trained in varying degrees of skilled labor in early adolescence often unaware of some of the tricks of the trade being magic use due to it cropping up incidentally, such as smiths managing to work ores with trace alloys that ought make it unworkable or lace-makers overlooking how a few of the very many loops among very many threads writhe into place without quite the right tension.~3.2% comprised mostly of "high culture" train in basic display or facultative magic from early childhood as part of general cultural education, often entangled with high-skill labor such as artisanal jewelry from which the relatively common bulk of magical items come. The remaining ~0.08% are the "true" Magic Users trained in magic in particular, split between rare powerful beasts elaborating on their innate uses who do so pretty much as soon as they've enough of a mind to do so, people with strange heritages leveraging them in fashions ever-more distant from the ancestor's talents shortly after whenever it happens to become obvious, and the from-scratch studied approaches that tend to take to their late 30s to finish their wide-ranging foundations. All three are prone to making the really good magic items.

Made me think of this
>>97326473Ahh yes. Weird at the end. As opposed to the rest of it.>>97325875That is peak 40k shit right there. Especially if the Saint is an inhuman dick. to add to their image thing, Sororitas of the Immortal Purity get the budget Grey Knight treatment where through extensive Hypnomat use, they forget their birth name, and receive a saint's name. Any higher ranks above that though, come with an inherited name, weapons and armour(EG the 4th Retributor of X squad is named Katherine, the Sister superior of Squad Orphilia is named Orphilia, and wields a power rapier and inferno pistol). Ritual and hypnomat training help the sister adjust. The only exception being the Canoness, who does not have a name.Naturally, this contributes to their legend and morale-stirring abilities, that the sisters are immortal, and will simply return again later if momentarily bought low. But doesn't help the psychotic breaks, identity trauma and tendency to serial murder their own sisters No relation, affiliation or any interaction with the alpha legion. None. This is all on them.
>>97327742>Is the reason Abhumans are allowed in the Imperium because they are useful?Pretty much yes>How much of a difference outside of "normal" is allowed before a person is killed for being a mutant? It really is mostly about being useful enough to keep around, but it's also more about how stable the deviation from norm is. Mutants largely have a unique mutation each. Abhumans began as mutations, bu by now created a stable subspecies
>>97326473It's really just the logical conclusion of it, but actually I was being literal- we're not betting on if she was a man before, we're betting on if she was a regular woman before. She could have been stitched together from parts, a child plucked off the streets, vatgrown from malleable human stock like a sentient SCID mouse, anything. In either case there is the strong feeling that she is NOT like us.
>>97327694From what little they speak of it, Dread lights are rare for most Chapters, with the most common ones being the Castaferrum sarcophagus variant. Chassis selection is done more on a whats-available basis, where even if the pilot did have a preference of chassis, the Chapter may not have any available to them. It also depends on how Chapters view being entombed in a Dreadnought; for a lot of Chapters, it's a means of preserving a member that's shown distinguishing heroics, like in the Black Templars, whereas the White Scars view it less favorably, seeing a brother as being trapped within a Dreadnought as a sacrifice of freedom. If an important enough figure within a Chapter has need of being entombed in a Dreadnought, that usually influences chassis selection; Chaplains, Chapter Masters, and even Tech Marines have been noted as being preserved in a Dreadnought so as not to lose the experience they bring to the Chapter, and are usually afforded more durable, and sophisticated models of dreadnought.
>>97331099Everything in this post is the invented fiction of a paranoid mind.>the balancing is as bad as its ever beenNo it isn't, is it better than it's ever been. And there are more tournament results than ever to back that up. There are still dominant factions/builds but their reigns are measured in MONTHS and the have-nots are not forced to wait 3-5 years to have a chance of using their army again.>models and rules are priced and balanced in a way that exploits your dopamine systemA completely buzzword-brained take on the rote 2020's "dopamine" grievance. No, waiting several months for a balance update that may make a unit better, then buying, building, painting and eventually using that unit is not an appeal to the dopamine system. Pray tell, at which point in that weeks-to-months-long process is the dopamine released lmao>The whole people buying 3 of the new meta is a classic example"[Thing that I made up] is a classic example"This is not a widespread problem in reality, only inside your mind.

previous: >>97290097Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/h8Tz2ze8Survey results: https://pastebin.com/YJPZ44rqThread Question:what is your stonemaier-tier concept for a sure money board game megahit?
>>97330252Depends what you want, you see a lot of hate towards what they are here because they require a ton of time commitment, but I think campaign games have the issue where a lot of them are really good but time is a bitch to get to finish them. When a video game takes 100 hours, its super easy to put 1-2 hours a day without affecting your schedule much, where as its tough as shit to get 3+ adults to meet up enough times to play a campaign game, and STILL play the other games in your collection. Also Tanares is cool.
>>97328155When it's just me and my brother we typically play the coop, which is fine, you get to experience the systems (aside from attacking and stealing other player's stuff). It becomes a straight action economy puzzle at that point. You're just hunting as many cresters as you can without getting caught at awkward moments by red/white ones before you're prepared, or getting stuck out at sky and dying to tanking morale. It's absolutely playable, but if the theme isn't doing a lot of work for you I can see it getting boring quickly.Obviously with more players you then have the race for crester hunting and players opportunistically (or serialy...) raiding eachother. The map becomes a lot more busy and interesting, and there's plenty of room for people to be dicks to eachother (so a conflict averse group might get toxic). Its easy to see the heart of the game lies here.
>>97319529Wingspan was the game that made me finally realize how much I hate European-style board games. My criteria is basically this--by the last third of the game, I had better have a realistic chance of winning or already eliminated.
>>97331091That's a rather loose criterium, a lot of ameritrash also falls into that
>>97330107No, if you don't like Race then Ares doesn't bring much more to the table

We play in voice chat on a VTT, so it's not like I can look at them to see how tired they are. >>97322102>Might there be a Lemurian phenomena that's similar? Would be worth exploring in further writing.Unless you were referencing the Juggernaut directly, its already in the game. The view I had of Lemuria initially was pretty anthetical to this kind of thing, however, I don't think it would be something widely used, or culturally encouraged, since the Cultivation mindset in the warrior caste requires you to pity that the weak cannot be strong opponents to you (which is completely different from taking pity *on* the weak, mind you) rather than outright hate them. Degens would be free game, however, its obviously their fate not to amount to anything anyways.
>>97322961>Strengh 10Does that mean it automatically passes strength tests? Shouldn't it be Strength 9?
>>97330124Very few units have had stats set up to 10, the Jugg and Nap being those that I remember right now (Nap with Awareness and Discipline 10). While at 10, you automatically pass any test, yes, but not necessarily win every face-to-face roll. > picrelNew map! I've checked the Taiping book and will upload it as well as the tokens, there's a few things I'll want to change or clarify in the rules, still making a list, but it'll 100% work in the meantime. >>97314298Alright, it'll be an econ unit, the carts will be random, its the best way to do it without turning the train into a more limited tank, and I want to avoid that. All the carts will have some transport capability, you might just not want to spawn your soldiers in the dining cart, but that's what you rolled this turn and you need the soldiers so... that kind of choice. >>97315417What I'm thinking is that the rails will be split off and set in the regular Structures section of the rulebook, so even if you don't have access to the Locomotive, you could lay tracks as part of an econ engine, and I'm thinking of putting the handcar >>97302625 as a merc special unit, since that shouldn't really be restricted, especially in a setting that takes place mostly in caves. The rails would be something like "gain X silver per Track token connected and controlled", with the exception that the player who layed them controls them by default if they connect to his deployement zone(?). The Locomotive itself would grant Silver from exiting Carts from the maps, with bonuses set for exiting quickly and off non-deployment map edges.
