>>97357613>>97357688not mine eitherI'm creating my own gamea combination between a card game and a skirmish miniature game
>>97358747I haven't cared about MTG in the better part of a decade at this point, but from memory the competitive constructed rule of thumb with cards that cost >=4 is that they have to do at least one of several things to be viable: - be resistant to removal (e.g. hexproof) - does something useful the turn it hits the field (e.g. haste) - do something useful even if removed (bloodbraid elf was the posterchild for this back in my time) - wins the game on the spot if it sticks for a turnThis card does none of those, and thus probably sucks in competitive constructed. A 6/6 that can be chump blocked or removed by a wide range of removal isn't winning the game reliably, and its ability to generate card advantage requires that you already have gas in the tank in the form of other creatures in hand (and your opponent have no removal) which means that IMO it qualifies as a win-more card. I would expect that this would only see play if the lineup of high CMC finishers is so dogshit that any undercosted beefy body is competitive.
>>97359030for the healing church - there's a planeswalker that gives things corruption counters - https://scryfall.com/card/mh2/199/geyadrone-dihadathe opt-in vibe you're going for just sounds like anti-hug like https://scryfall.com/card/eoc/82/braids-arisen-nightmare or finding ways to punish group hug like folio of fancies + orcish bowmasters or a less gay version of the same effect
Unban him.
Should an elven wizard be more powerful on average than a human one? Explain your answer.
>>97358043At this point, I think the reverse psychology is starting to work on me and I'm starting to believe that the /tg/ poster might be someone who just hates this redditor and is making these threads so everyone hates the redditor too.No way anyone can lack this much self awareness
>>97358773Even in DnD, elves physically mature at ~20, same pace as humans. It's only that they're considered immature and childish by the elves who are centuries old and so in elven society, you're considered a child until you become a centenarian, and you're referred with your "child name" until that point.20 year old elves are as physically and mentally mature as 20 year old humans.
>>97356786Humans: High Damage and fireDwarves: Weapon enhancement and earthGnomes: I dunno?Orcs: Orc no read magic bookElves: Magic that tends to all matters of pleasuring the cock.
If elven mages are so much more potant and in general elves have a lot of mages running around in their society, why dont elves dominate their respective settings?
>>97361373Have you ever read a fantasy settings lore? They often did, in the past. With their empires being grander and bigger than whatever the humans have later. But these games do not happen during these times, instead way later after the downfall of the elves. Since humans always have to be the spoiled little protagonist-brats.
We're going to have to come up with a phrase for the new era of Warhammer 40,000 ushered in by the Amazon TV show, DoW 4 and Total War 40k, and increased market value of Games Workshop.nu40k isn't going to cover it. nu40k is already bad enough for many of us from headier days like 1st through 4th edition. You are going to see horrific debasements to the thing you know and love that you will still see with your eyes closed. Every 80 IQ person with internet access will have an opinion on Warhammer without knowing what a Tau Remora Drone is.
>>97360091I'm not against a Dark Heresy show, but if you're going to have the first 40k show it needs to be IG. It's down to earth, you can have an enemy of the season or episode, and the Guardsmen barely know anything. It's the perfect introduction. You try Space Marines or the Inquisition, and the audience immediately has to swallow Imperial religion and "kill the mutant and witch" and normalfags will run.
>>97360200Yeah it's pretty good.>>97360278The problem with an IG show is the inevitable turn into non military slob to attract the female market, not to mention the mandatory Commissar killing guardsmen.Althought if they take it seriously, which they won't, and make it like Combat! or Tour of Duty, it might be worth watching. Plus there's pretty much Cadians and Cathachan left as 'official' Regiments, Death Korps are just clones made to fight and die and who will make a show about soldiers who ever show their faces all the time for real?
>>97360278The Inquisition is perfect because it's small in scale and the roles and attitudes of its members are extremely varied. An Ordo Hereticus guy is quite likely to be the sort of "a plea of innocence is guilty of wasting my time" stereotype who ends up callously putting civilians to death on the regular, but an Ordo Xenos guy is focused on protecting people from all sorts of genuinely monstrous and horrifying alien nasties and doesn't care if people aren't being perfect little pious drones. Inquisitorial retinues can also have down-to-earth soldiers rubbing shoulders with eccentric weirdos so you get the whole breadth of the Imperium in a convenient little band of protagonists, and Inquisitors roll around interacting with every strata of Imperial society from the poor wretches in the underhives to planetary governors to the Admech on their forge worlds, so the writer/director has the freedom to do basically whatever he wants and there will always be a convenient, easy, lore friendly explanation for it.
>>97344553man-made hobby horrors beyond your comprehension
>>97360091Wouldn't a Cain show be more like Blackadder Goes Forth/Flashman?Guants Ghost is the Sharpe-inspired series.
Is it better to have fully anthropomorphic beast people in your settings or just humans with like animal ears and tails?
>>97360105That's retarded. Like getting rid of female characters because some people can get weird about them.
>>97330128What game?
>>97360192Well, I did say she was one of the more famous examples.
>>97349680>"what's the point if they don't appeal to my bestiality fetish"
>>97360828If you didn't care for bestiality why do they need the animal parts in the first place instead of just being human or elf-like?
Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97360851This is an extremely pedantic reply that is ignoring the spirit of what I'm asking. Generally I agree with you. But I'm not asking about how you would run a game, I'm asking about what you as a human and a DM prefer to run, something that is either generally shallow yet broad, or narrow yet deep
>>97360858And may you have twice the number
>>97360863>I'm not asking about how you would run a game, I'm asking about what you as a human and a DM prefer to runOdd distinction. By and large, DMs run what they prefer to run. Why DM, otherwise?
>>97360863>'m asking about what you as a human and a DM prefer to run, something that is either generally shallow yet broad, or narrow yet deepI'm with the other anon that this is a very odd and artificial distinction. Everything starts off narrow and shallow when you begin prep, and you fill things out from there. They grow less shallow or less narrow as needs be, and you'll eventually have a wide variety of environments in a range of depth and width. There's no hard line between one and the other. And I don't give enough of a shit about the meta structure of it to have a preference one way or the other as a player or as a DM. I'm less interested in whether dungeon A is shallow/wide while B is deep/narrow than I am that Dungeon A might have humanoid factions players can interact with, but most of the treasure is art-based stuff that will require time and men to remove and carry off, while dungeon B has easily ported coins, but is full of nasty undead. That's a more interesting kind of distinction, on both sides of the screen.

>>97360570Could you elaborate a bit without spoilers if possible?
>>97361062In the early books there are multiple opportunities for the more nerdy aligned character to shine, and it does not completely fall off even in the later books either.Dark Tapestry related stuff is more of a background theme for the early books unless you consider things like undead related to that. For the Time related stuff it it hard to say anything without spoiling, but it comes up very late fully.
>>97361168What would your informed opinion be? On regards of playing a character like that? Considering the team currently.
>>97361269Well, to me it seems that you will end up in healer/support role. And the party seems to be lacking a character able to cast Haste, for which Speed or Slow Time (Sp) from Time mystery should be helpful. Though you can get it also with Arcane Archivist (Su) from Lore. It is bit of a cointoss, but I'm leaning towards Time because if you think your group actually manages to get all the way to late books, the Time should be extremely satisfactory if your GM knows how to play it out for you.
>>97360570>>97361168>>97361315I was initially leaning towards DT, but Time Wizards are always intriguing. Looking at the suggested mysteries, I felt Time was heavier on the team support.I have faith in our GM on playing things out story wise.

We discussed what to do with Boy Toy again after mom was done calling everyone, and we unanimously agreed to attempt an erythroexchange combined with a plasma exchange. If the problem is caused by abomination blood, we just had to replace it.Of course we didn't drain the guy by ingesting that shit ourselves, but with a modernized version of the ancient medical practice of bloodletting, then squeezed some 17 blood bags and 4 liters of plasma in his mouth.Mom asked big bro how "it" felt.He told her the story of how he got the largest pelt for her coat. It was an old male Amur leopard which wasn't fertile anymore and behaved as if he was born in the wild.He had his mates put that corner of the City That Never Sleeps to sleep by cutting off electricity, phone & internet network and so on. Boy Toy's target had escaped from the zoo and he had to chase it in a building. If anyone remembers that random couple of posts about an "agile piece of shit" in all caps >>97202586 >>97202612 and me telling him to turn the smartwatch off, that was the context.Turns out Cope's been a buddy of his for a while, she used her mastery of her clan's Disciplines plus Dominate and her computer wizardry to make sure nobody in the flat would have memories of records of the incident.Their date on the execution night on Orthodox Xmas plus two more nights was his way of paying her back. He's also paying for Scarlet's classes in Dementation, Obfuscate and psych by taking Cope for a ride in the snow with the 1300hp Subaru. He then answered Mother's question: "That fucker's vitae tasted better than finally snapping the Amur leopard's neck after that long hunt in a dark urban jungle AND watching Mother 'fuck the lady in the mirror' with the finished fur coat AND our latest two SM orgies - combined."Mom probed his memories then gave bro a big furry hug.>>97359706Comment too long. After reviewing the memories of my childer, the updated theory is that the abomination had to be a young lupine, this would explain how physically weak by werewolf standards it was. Man of Florida told me abominations struggle with using both Disciplines or Gifts, that too is consistent with how the fight went.>>97358889>If you could share info on the abomination and whatever made it, I'd like to pass it along to people who'd be interested.>>97359706>what kind of abomination it isI had Mercury Lamp draw it from said memories, do you have any better idea than my clumsy speculations?Because all I can think of is:>Black Spiral Dancer becomes ronin over being too weak, but not weak enough to die instantly from being hunted by kindred, kine, lupines for and against Gaia>Nosferatu (Antitribu?) adopts a cub but doesn't have anyone in his information network to tell them an embrace will kill or do worse to his beloved pet>Stupid cub shook the tentacle of a TzimisceRegardless of how it came into being, just thinking about how many levels of "being rejected" an abomination must be on is giving me headaches. On the subject of pain, Scarlet had her first Fortitude lesson from Princess Charming, and now she understands another reason why Ventrues would seek the company of an attractive lady, and ask her to do things to them.
>>97360800>"That fucker's vitae tasted better than finally snapping the Amur leopard's neck after that long hunt in a dark urban jungle AND watching Mother 'fuck the lady in the mirror' with the finished fur coat AND our latest two SM orgies - combined."Now that he's sung the highest praises imaginable for that vile fluid, we know we're not ready to release little brother back into the civilized part of the world yet. We're still in uncharted territory, as this is the part where we watch for delayed effects and wait for withdrawal symptoms. My money is on apathy.
>>97361017>My money is on apathy. You were right, Boy Toy is anhedonic.I bent over backwards and tried to get him to drink my vitae from my dorsali pedis artery. No response from him.Assoluta sung Un bel dì, vedremo from Puccini's Madama Butterfly. Nothing.Enraged by such disrespect, she played with his mouth, arse and prick. Nothing.Blue Fairy kicked his face. Nothing.Scarlet kissed him. Nothing.Mercury Lamp showed him her drawing of the abomination. He looked at it. Finally something he can give a damn about.Princess Charming says she'll have a plan ready by tomorrow night.>>97359706>Venus, you are lucky. That is all I will say and I speak from experience.Yes I am, we may have won the first battle, but my son has not came back yet. Right now, he's like those monks I met all over Asia, the complete opposite of a Toreador. I think Scarlet must've smoked fifty cigarettes in under two hours.

>>97361001>Some people here refer to Eclipse as a euro for some reason.because it's a game of maximizing your actions and action economy and resources. you don't upgrade ships until you have "using the upgraded ships for fighting" in your immediate plans, because if you just upgrade then you're wasting an action that you could've spent as a research, or explore, or even an extra point of control to get more materials/science to be even more efficient with your buildsnot saying that that's bad, btw, i love optimizationmaxxing, but i just prefer to call a spade a spade and not an "enlongated tool that can be used for digging" because then some fool will compare a spade to a spoon.>>97361056To play the devil's advocate, a potential fleet is only a defence tool. To win you need to be aggressive, taking combats and stealing enemy land at least in the last round, so potential fleets don't help you win the game, they just defend a theoretical win you might not actually have. Also systems guarded by neutrals are usually better than unguarded ones, so not having an active fleet early means you're not taking those hexes as early (unless you play the one faction that ignores neutrals) and that means missing out on big money that could accelerate you beyond what your opponents have. It is an economics war game, and that's why being active can be good.

The length of TI is a problem, but it seems like the more flavourful of the two games - 17 factions for example vs 6 in Eclipse (the expansions for eclipse are super expensive).

>>97358701>Not getting subdermalThat's on you choom.>>97354652Surprise, surprise resist torture/drugs is also frequently slept on. Hitting your players with a nasty sleep bomb can easily turn the tide of any battle, or use 10 arrows alternatively. You dissected the Kleaver correctly, I like to take my balance checks from the corebook, however there's a problem there:Mono3, the Core 5K melee weapon is garbage, outside of niche case of Kleaver getting grabbed, or shot at (weapon falls immidiately when hit) you essentially get a better weapon than Mono 3 for 1/5th the price. I cannot believe that just the security that your weapon will not melt itself into the ground costs 4000 and a damage dice. Oh and a fire effect.5K weapons are beyond street level, or rather at the top of it. Helix adds bonus 2d6, which is actually a 4d6 since armour is already done for. Cowboy adds 6d6 and a possibly double blast zone, Hurricane adds 5d6 minus the armour. For some reason Perseus only add 4d6 and only after you done ambushing, must've been the possible cyberarm concealment or something, since I dont see any other reason for it to gain ROF2 after. So on and so forth, I dont recall anymore 5K weapons, maybe they were added later, maybe they didnt. And with all that context take the Mono3, a regular ass damage VHMW, not even ROF2.Only similar shit is the EMG which itself doesnt make sense, because it's a chemrail, as it uses standard ammo, but doesnt need recharge despite recharge rules being in the core just page from it. And yes, they're duplicated. which ignores SP 10 and below and is ROF1.If it was a printing/editing error they'd probably fix it, as they already fixed pretty embarassing stuff. So my best guess is RTalds do really think that SP is THAT much more valuable than I do. Also LAJ is concalable RAW, available by vendits, so there's literally 0 reason for enemies to not always use it unless you shoot homeless people that is.
>>97357999That's probably because the stories told in books work differently than the stories weaved through an RPG.Cyberpunk is about high tech vs low life. In a book, you can get away with handwaving the former, but in an RPG, some people will want to play as people responsible for the technology part.
>>97357553Our campaign had an effective Media, an effective Techie, and one and half of an effective Netrunner.

Gang jazzler has what, like DV13? It's a 100eb (or 500, mind's foggy on that one) piece of chrome that additionally deals no damage, so it fits. Alternatively spend two charges to push the DV to 15.>+2 to stylegarbage IMO, unless you gate it behind "item counts as a piece of fashionware required to obtain +2 bonus from fashionware", or that it only add style if you somehow compose it into anime cosplay or something.>move enemy by a single tieso, bash them by 2 meters, sounds powerful, extremely niche but may come in with some funny MA combos idk. Also if you're a GM what the fuck are you doing? do you really need a game mechanic to tell you that people are, in fact, capable of pushing other people?Anyway, Anon I think that even basic EMP effect is helluva effective, since you're basically doing two attacks (microwaver and a VHMW), one of which has a guaranteed hit, and the second deals +1d6. Sounds like a 5K tier to me.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>97354652Cont vol2There's also one thing people really oftentimes sleep upon, you can make an item that, by the moment of it's fabrication is already tech upgraded.Black chrome did this on more than a handfull of items, I dont recall RAW anymore items went that way, but it's quite possible. I havent played RED for like a year now.>reverse engineeringYeah, if you're curious, a tech upgrade can be invented, so, any of these instances where you get an item that is specifically said to be tech upgraded, you could quite easily compare it to basic item and make such tech upgrade, then apply it to a different item. This also means that innately tech upgraded item cannot be further tech upgraded.

I thought it was just a mistake last thread because he hadn't done that yet.

I'm new to KT, I've assembled and painted a Kommando team and doing a Kasrkin team next and have a few noob questions if anyone cares to enlighten me.a) are there ways to gain more CP per turn than the 1/2 you get automatically ?b) Does the skill-at-arms for Kasrkins you can chose each turn costs CP ?c) What is the point of the Throat-slittas rule ? I don't see the point of being able to charge from concealment since you could give an engage order then charge at the start of your activation anyways. Usecase might be obvious but I feel I'm missing something
>>97360953>are there ways to gain more CP per turn than the 1/2 you get automatically ?Yes, but it's team-dependent. If your team has no bonus CP abilities, you make do with the baseline.>Does the skill-at-arms for Kasrkins you can chose each turn costs CP ?Only strategy ploys and firefight ploys cost CP. Strategic gambits do not inherently do so.>What is the point of the Throat-slittas rule ? I don't see the point of being able to charge from concealment since you could give an engage order then charge at the start of your activation anyways. If you charge from concealment and stop in a position where you are then in cover, you'll end your activation concealed from other enemies. Helps you stay hidden and forces more enemies to come out to deal with the model.
>>97360953the other anon answered pretty good but to c) i wanne add. if the enemy dies or runs away or you fight against arbites that can shoot into close combat, you are able to be shot and your guy still has the benefits of conceal in that case.
>>97361002>>97361046Thank you for the answers, the benefits of throatslittas was indeed obvious and it's seems kind of strong on paper nowHow is the match up of Kasrkins vs Kommandos ? I plan to play with my wife and want to let her play the most "OP" team of the two to avoid discouraging her early
>>97361257Kasrkin are in a pretty rough position, I still consider them the weakest team in the game despite the latest buffs. Their strength is in having a lot of special weapons but they also lack reliable ways to ensure those weapons get to fire and fire at enemies that are valuable. They sort of lack a frontline.Against kommandos they're actually unusually badly set up by my reconning. They die in melee without being able to really fight back, the ranged specialists that orks do have will just delete them, and their regular guns are too weak to really hurt orks while their special weapons are too valuable to trade. They also have no answer to throat slittas and even when they do get an important shot off they can still get blocked by a good just a scratch at times. It says a lot about kasrkin that the biggest buff the team has received was the addition of the (currently very overpowered) martyrs tac op. Now when they die in droves trying to take the objective, they can at least get points for it.

>>97361400You have to understand, anon definitely isn't attracted to his sister, but he has to have sex with her because otherwise it's ntr
>>97361400Not just someone, but literal bottom of the barrel chaff. The worst part was that he younger sister was totally all over him because he took care of her when she was growing up and cured her from a chronic lung disease, but in the end he pushed her away telling her to "go live her own life" or some cuck shit like that.
