Ok, so we're gonna make a creature battler based on netrunner mechanics, the theme will be biblical mafia waifus fighting with the four elements, and all the stats will be measured in units of minimum one billion.
when do we start
>>
>>97351722
Yeah, when the arcade first dropped in the US. It was surprisingly addictive, even though the gameplay was stupendously fucking simple. Some chick I took on a date there got one play and won the card I wanted from it. She didn't part with the card either. I never saw either of them again.

the coolest runner is the extra digital entity virus thing

I'm not sure to be honest. You got a 6/9/5, two 5/8/0s and a 5/8/5 sharing a berth. It seems to me like a odds-and-ends type general purpose patrol lance. It's not quick enough for recon or pursuit, it's not got enough hops for urban combat and it's too XL heavy to reliably brawl.

Give that lineup, I'd move the Clint to a faster lance and have the Komodo babysit a medium fire-support lance with a B configuration Cobra. I guess some Clints would fit in there just fine though so long as the goal is direct fire with another element keeping opfor back.

Pick one, Drachenfels and Prince of Altdorf are mutually exclusive. I have no idea why Andy Hall bothered to dig up the name of Maximillian von Konigswald if he was just going to make a different character.

Personally, Prince of Altdorf can get stuffed. It conflicts with loads of other things. I like that the Ostland succession is totally fucked though. The von Raukovs only got in because the previous incumbents and their heirs were senile, corrupt, assassinated and deposed respectively.

Honestly I think Malfoy IS just as racist as the rest of his family, he's just too much of an incompetent bitch to actually follow through with any serious Death Eater shit.
>>
>>97351416
>among the upper echelons
Actually, it was only Hitler himself, which is very funny. He was a Wagnerboo but Goebbels and others looked down on him for it, and he did stuff like have big lavish Wagner productions put on and then give soldiers free tickets, which they would immediately try to sell or trade for cigarettes.

Hitler was weirdly close to a goofy li'l sitcom dude at the same time as he was a brutal, insane dictator.
>>
>>97349218
The KKK also hated catholics which most German immigrants were.
>>
>>97351637
Idk the impression I got from Malfoy (until book 5 at least) was more that his family just said a bunch of things and the kid picked it up more than he actually meant anything. The little perspective you do get on him usually isn't making him out to be quite so racist all the time but perhaps maybe Rowling was just surprisingly subtle over it.

Yeah, if anything Fyreslayers have done pretty well for an army that got one tiny wave in 2016 and then never meaningfully touched again. Still reliably show up for tournaments after all these years and have a small but dedicated fan base.
>>
>>97349899
Thats about 350 pts I think, a couple morbheg knights or 1 unit and an Archregent and a zombie dragon will get you a fun 1k army
>>
>>97352148
Nah, aside from Stormcast GW had zero plans for follow-ups during 1E, they were just cranking out microarmies left and right without any long term support plans. Super early on they were even toying with the idea of not supporting armies long term at all.

It's why even relatively popular 1E original armies like Ironjawz got fuckall until late 3E, GW had no follow-up plans in motion for any of them when they released.
>>
>>97352115
>to put that in perspective, soulblight gravelords have gotten more vampire lords on foot in the last 2 editions than fyreslayers have gotten units+heroes ever in their entire lifespan as a range.
Truly grim when you put it like that
But yeah honestly fyreslayers are just a very weird range. 2 infantry kits, a big monster, and a bunch of heroes. Idoneth (rightfully) gets brought up as an army that really needs more love, but they at least have a cavalry kit, and four pretty different big monsters to choose from (well, now five), on top of their slew of heroes and whopping two (2) infantry kits. Fyreslayers are so bad they make idoneth look varied.

What is the counterculture of 2020s, that could be used as the basis for a contemporary countercultural tabletop game?

Take the World of Darkness for example, which was so grounded in the the counterculture of the 90s that it comes across as dated and strange today. How would you update the World of Darkness so that it better represents the counterculture of today?

Nightmare Mode: Talk about more than just politics. There's more to rebellion against the status quo and the prevailing social norm than who you vote for.

The things about both traditionalists and trannies though is that they are still on some level supported by the ruling classes, so you can't say either of them are counter-culture just because a section of the mainstream is upset about it, otherwise everyone would be considered counterculture for existing.

It's cheaper to buy a resin printer and accessories than it is to build a 1k point 40k army. One Page Rules it is. I already have a 3d printer so I think I'm going to print some terrain to see if I like the idea of printing/painting minis before I go crazy buying things.
Any recommendations for free terrain models that are fdm friendly? I saw a guy who made 12" square panels with a 6x6 grid on each panel for easy 2" reference/measuring. I didn't mind the look of it but I can see how some people would hate it. What do you think?

You could say the same for medieval fantasy being renaissance era with the guns and some swords removed, or renaissance fantasy being just colonial era fantasy with the guns knocked back a few stages. GURPS treats Iron Age steel as "experimental"--purchasable only at extremely high prices, if at all. Only in the Middle Ages does metallurgy improve enough that steel becomes available in any random shop for purchase by adventurers.

Here, for example, in the Roman period steel swords are listed as costing four times the normal cost, assuming that they are available at all.

Been very interested in Traveller ever since I read some Sci Fi last year (mostly Asimovs Foundation and some of The Expanse)
I don't know if I could do the super hard science stuff but I gotta say the appeal is there for space adventures. Might at least try running some adventure books for my friends to see if they're actually interested in the system before I try and brew an entire universe. Or at least a system or two to call my own might be easier to manage
>>
>>97351264
Traveller isn't hard sci-fi in the slightest so there's no need to worry about it.

Traveller is fun, though, I've run several one shots in the past and will probably try to get a campaign off the ground this year or next, depending on how games are lookin'. Be wary of the current mongoose adventures, some of them are fairly shit.
>>
>>97351748
>Be wary of the current mongoose adventures, some of them are fairly shit.
Well the classic stuff is pretty easy to carry over right? That's mostly what I've been reading up on and the system hasn't changed terribly much as far as I can tell right (talking directly classic to Mongoose editions, I know there's a D20 out there alongside GURPS that have more drastic changes)

easy, mind control. The villain has mind control powers, and those under their thrall seem to really enjoy it and become very dismissive of their previous life.

You get NTR and mind control with a thin veneer off deniability

Warforges w/ detachable penises....

I want to make a character who specializes in gathering information. Basically I want to know everything and everybody, or to be able to quickly learn about something or somebody when that isn't the case.

I'm not sure how to go about it. Obviously with a design goal as broad as that, this is not the kind of character that I expect to be fully realized straight out of chargen. Face skills seem like a nobrainer starting off, but what would be the best thing to focus on after that?

Also Shadowrun thread. The character is for 5e using basic priority chargen.
>>
>>97350205
Contacts!

The most important part of playing a face is lining up proper contacts, it's not just what your character can do, but who your character can call to get things easily. You want weird contacts people wouldn't think of, everyone ha an armorer or a fixer, practically no one has another decker as a contact, an ID broker, an attorney, a news broadcaster, a waitress in a popular nightclub.

If you play a face correctly, you should only have to bust out your own skills when actually on doing the run, or when buying or selling something. Contacts are your lifeline.

It's also better imo to have many smaller contacts, than one 6/6+, especially if your goal is to be the infobroker. Think of people or roles that would have access to lots of names and databases, police, city employees, financial planners, call centers, ect. You're idea is totally sound and how you are supposed to play.

>>
>>97352017
Are you stupid or something?
>doesn't reprint and update everything
Classes had 2 or 3 PHB subclasses, except for Cleric and Wizard who had 15 between them. Now they all have 4 each, for 8 more total. That's "basically as much": 20% more subclasses (now evenly distributed across classes).
>>
>>97352122
Yeah, the new PHB only published with 4 subclasses for each class.
They also note that the subclasses from previous books are still compatible with the new PHB, just that you may get subclass features at different levels.
>>
>>97351877
>>97352122
The SRD contains the Basic free Rules, which is what third-party creators need to make content for the game and for players to try it. They then sell you the full rules in the form of the PHB and other books with more subclasses and shit.
