What are some of your experiences with BRP or mythras? Favorite stories, characters, or supplements? I generally like running pulp or horror campaigns. Funniest story setup was how my players thwarted a small series of adventures I planned before it even started.>Players role up an old priest, a journalist, and basically fred from scooby doo. >Investigating a series of murders and disappearances. >Get captured thesmelves and wind up in a rundown factory converted to sort of look likea victorian mansion.>Meet an obvious vampire who uses them for basic company and conversation before planning to kill them.>My players escape, the frail priest manages to full nelson the vampire, and the other players manage to use a stake to kill him. It ended what I planned to be a multi session adventure in one night. It was a lot of lucky roles and ended up with being funny.
>>97273683Jackals is pretty good. I own it as well, but I kind of like the presentation of an alternate historical fantasy. I like seeing what kind of tweeks the writers do to historical events in terms of how the fantasy elements affect them.
>>97270691I’m far more of a fan of the allotments system destined the supers supplement hasBut the encumberance system is very workable Especially if you have a VTT though it is clunky and it has worked for the post apoc game I’ve been running Heavily armoured PC’s especially if they are small have been able to carry less and have packed a lot of important equipment onto their vehicles or mounts There was also an alternative simplified encumberance system in the book but I don’t see that many pepole talk about it >>97270919Even when I used fixed initiative good armour in the hands of the PC’s can be a little strong at protecting them Though there are plenty of other ways to fuck with them such as entangling weapons and tripping, on crits the bypass armour combat effect also exists On a good damage roll 2h great weapons or large monsters can still be decently nasty to well armoured PC’s but that >>97269039Comment too long. >>97243662I was about to download the latest update and I noticed that you've added stuff for Soul-tethering, which made me wonder...Some of these creatures used to belong to player facing races, have you considered supporting the player transforming into one of them, like someone becoming a Succubus or a Vampire or such. All it would really take is having XP costs for the relevant traits and feats, and maybe a framework to better come up with the rituals to do it (which would be useful to have as player objectives even if playing the monster itself were to fall beyond the scope of the game). In that vein, are there any plans to support controlled transformations on the part of the player? One idea I had for a character was a creepy mega-nerd alchemist (or mage who knows alchemy) in a journey to become a THE Tentacle Monster and I've found the lack of recipes for mutagens pretty disappointing.

How do you respond when your players choose to side with a character who is quite obviously, unapologetically evil and meant to be a villain? Typically, unless they leave behind evidence of their crimes, I'll usually let them follow the quest line along until they get killed or arrested somehow.
>>97275490>But... good luck with that. You're not going to find people with the balls to play evil characters, it's always dipping their toes in rather than willingness to play evil characters. They say they want one thing, then they see evil and freak out and try to backpedal. Can't relate. My Eberron group wanted to do a pirate campaign and they've thrown themselves right into the raping, pillaging and selling people into slavery.
