We're going to have to come up with a phrase for the new era of Warhammer 40,000 ushered in by the Amazon TV show, DoW 4 and Total War 40k, and increased market value of Games Workshop.

nu40k isn't going to cover it. nu40k is already bad enough for many of us from headier days like 1st through 4th edition. You are going to see horrific debasements to the thing you know and love that you will still see with your eyes closed. Every 80 IQ person with internet access will have an opinion on Warhammer without knowing what a Tau Remora Drone is.

fallout is a great setting but amazon studios seems to keep hiring writers who do not understand why fans enjoy the games and cannot write within the confines of established lore to save their lives
LotR/wheel of time are both bigger sins in my eyes, but all of them have the same fault at their core which is writers that do not understand or care about portraying the setting/lore in an authentic way

I think the same writers simply change shows every season.

I watched Twsited Metal aftyer seeing some Sweet Tooth shorts, and I liked the humour. Holy shit season 1 start decent, but falls in ep4, then ep 6-7-8-9 are enclosed episodes, where the main characters spend most of their time saying 'sorry, mandatory sex scene, and a complete lack of in-universe logic , but at long as women are badass and men as wimps, it keeps getting made.
Fallout series is the same, just more crap across the board.
Whatver W40K series is made will be the same, the Imperium is bad and all that shit, yet we'll follow Imperials possibly with stereotypical Commissars and other shit. If they go 30k, then it'll be some cheap attempts at grand space opera which will fall flat due to the writers not knowing shit and not being smart.
>>
>>97349600
We do need to take the time to make sure we're all on the same about one very fucking important thing. Vin Diesel is sexier than Henry Cavill, and always will be. Even though he's not as tight and chiseled as his younger days, his fucking voice and demeanor and personality are the most ultimate expression of masculine erotica that this universe can produce, even in theory.

Neither.
I prefer scattering around fairytale style talking animals; I don't tend to explain them, but at a push they'd be forest spirits or a manifest genius loci, or the result of magical tampering.

>Talking fox tries to sell you junk

>What is this?
/TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found :

Also, during a discussion last evening I was reminded of Two Years of Vacation, one of my favorite Jules Verne novel. I thought for a moment that we could make a Lost Boys mini-faction out of it, but it could also be a simple profile for the Lost Men?
This has also sent me into a Barenstein Bear situation, I swear there was a French animation shows from the late 80s I used to watch all the time, and all I can find are "the Story of 15 Boys", which is an American animation based on the novel and I swear I recognize some parts but not others, and there's no way my 6~7 years old was watching this in English...

While we're on the topic, I remember some sort of Osamu Tezuka era looking anime about a barbarian boy in the Ice Age. There was a pet bear, some sort of ice witch, and the climax was a bunch of cavemen throwing torches at a mammoth made of a blizzard. That's Agartha-ish enough for me to bring it up. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Looks to be the closest DC generator to when Agartha takes place and also fairly prominent at the time.

If we're willing to use things that came out in 1884 exactly, which we generally are from what I recall, then Edison's "Long Legged Mary Anne" seems the best option

There are better quality images on the site but here's one I found of it in use by humans instead of just in an orthographic technical drawing

That's pretty much the crux of the whole Rowling fiasco. She just sits online all day and night and picks fights with terminally online twitter troons. If she just shut the fuck up already we could get back to watching wizard movies at Christmas again.

The rest of us normal people cannot give a flying fuck because 99% of humanity

It doesn't make a lot of sense for American wizards to live under the noses of muggles like they do in England and France. You would think there would be a lot more wizard towns completely hidden away out west, in the rockies and in the Canadian great planes where no one is ever going to find them.

3.PF or OSR/adjacent.
5e occupies an awkward middleground for me. If I want something streamlined with a bit of character customization for modern sensibilities, I would go lighter than 5e and probably pick Worlds Without Number.

If I want more mechanical depth in exchange for prep taking 20-30% longer, I would play 3.PF. It is crunchier, it is tedious getting key numbers pre-computed, but swapping out some feats can provide a lot of tactical variety to enemies. The skills can be a bit tedious and specific, but there are UA variations you can use to simplify.

Problem is you need to do it to a good chunk of spell list. And considering how many spells WoTC churned out it's a fucking pain in the ass.

How much would/should changing the default setting from High Medieval to Late Bronze Age change the game?

For example, lowering AC across the board to simulate the lack of general armour. How much would that affect balance?

Glass was invented well before that, though. And for most of the iron age, the use of glass was the same as in the bronze age. So why is "large glass objects" being listed as a technology that appears in the iron age?
>>
>>97352271
No one is denying that steel existed before the 19th century. I think you might be reading something into my comment that isn't there. The picture I'm responding to claimed that the "signature technology" of the "middle ages" is steel. That's just total nonsense. The signature technology is certainly something relating to agriculture that I don't know enough about to identify. Maybe mills or some kinda plough.

Just how a general view of making a character and if I'm on the right track kinda or whatever....I dunno... Aieee. It's not like I made in an "anime" style on purpose more so I just can't draw for fucking shit. I feel more comfortable in the character itself though just from some slight feedback here. I don't know much about the series either, so I'm just asking stuff...that's why I apologized in my original post for it being a retarded post. I think with the tone of the campaign the guy is setting up though I don't imagine it'll be very lighthearted so there's probably less chances for the character to be irritating. And it's not like the others are into rping.

While Exalted has always to a degree sold itself as a power fantasy, it's definitely also the case that some fans tend to wildly exaggerate the degree to which it's supposed to be a powerfantasy. As for Deathlords and Yozis co-operating in regards to the Jade Prison, they had common interests in this one specific regard. It's not like they have any kind of a long-term alliance going on.

>>97350492
Why should Exaltations be something different than what they have since 1E been written to be, anon?

>>97352283
>, just kidding you just got a green lantern ring Conky carelessly threw around
That's not how Exaltation is presented in any edition, though. Exaltations are wondrous things of awesome power. Getting one is not reincarnation, but it means that you're a continuation of the legacy of heroes from bygone eras. Exaltations are also, while wondrous things, actually things, and they can, with great effort and difficulty, be locked away. There's nothing really dissonant or inconsistent about any of this.
>>
>>97353247
The basic metaphysics of the setting is that it reality runs on the stories it's inhabitants tell, which is why the raw reality of the wyld is the way it is.

Creation is built on top of the wyld, with rules laid down atop. But because the base metaphysics are narrative, you can tell damn near any legend you like if you have enough power.

The catch is, others also have that power.

Exalted could slay and imprison the primordials.

Exalted could cage other exalted.

The deathlords were once elder Solars. They are no longer exalted, but they cultivated power whilst exalted and are granted new life by the neverborn, they are the next best thing, and they nearly destroyed creation.

There are 700 celestials, all with varied ambitions. There are far more terrestrials, and in teams those too can bring low anything they please. The yozis and neverborn scheme. Fae seek to tear down the blasphemy of creation.

Dude you are reading a lot in the people saying that they don't like a particular setting element's flavor. Pull the stick out of your ass.

What makes you think the Neverborn would want the Primordials dead in the first place? They were, if not friends, at least allies for ages. There were never that many Primordials, so it's pretty likely they all knew each other on a personal level. The Neverborn are the Primordials who literally gave their lives fighting for them all, and the Yozi are the ones their courage saved from extermination. It's not exactly clear how much needs to be obliterated for the Neverborn to die properly, but Malfeas seems like it'll be the last thing they want to go for, well after they've toppled the pillars of Creation, obliterated Yu Shan, washed the Wyld down the well of Oblivion, ended old Zen-Mu, and assassinated most of the shinma. They don't want more Neverborn, either - being a Neverborn is to suffer endlessly and impotently at the bottom of the Labyrinth.

Loyalism in Deathlords corresponds strongly to high Whispers ratings, and the Neverborn are probably actively telling any of their agents who get funny ideas about laying low the surviving Primordials to not do that.

I thought they just wanted to destroy Creation

The PCs must restore the power of the four crystals to defeat the Dark Lord. What should I base the four crystals upon, instead of the four elements?

Question of the Thread:
Should mecha have hands? Should the hands be humanlike? If they shouldn't have hands, what should they have? If no hands, why even have arms?

They could at least set up some other regional print shops or something. I'm not paying 50% of the listed price or more on canadian shipping for prints.

If you are going to be building all the stuff for the setting anyway I'd say GURPS. Especially since you can use both tactical and range band rules from Spaceships as needed.

If you want do it in Mekton this is probably the best starting point

But you still need to build all the stuff yourself.
