We're going to have to come up with a phrase for the new era of Warhammer 40,000 ushered in by the Amazon TV show, DoW 4 and Total War 40k, and increased market value of Games Workshop.nu40k isn't going to cover it. nu40k is already bad enough for many of us from headier days like 1st through 4th edition. You are going to see horrific debasements to the thing you know and love that you will still see with your eyes closed. Every 80 IQ person with internet access will have an opinion on Warhammer without knowing what a Tau Remora Drone is.
>>97349600We do need to take the time to make sure we're all on the same about one very fucking important thing. Vin Diesel is sexier than Henry Cavill, and always will be. The fact that every horus heresy side character that was 'badass' and would talk shit to primarchs was some sort of girlboss. The lt. Myra character in space marine 1, though I had no problem with her specifically, was a warning. Now every remaining imperial in any sort of authority that isn't a space marine legacy character is a woman, or black, or both. In a lot of media, the guard, hilariously, is taking the hits for what they obviously want to do to space marines. Out of the media that GW has put out, I can't think of a single heroic human white male that isn't subservient to a woman that is not a space marine. And their glands are malfunctioning or something because they're becoming increasingly minority. That said, it was pretty funny that they were weirdly lore accurate with the salamander in that necron show only being pigmented black. I'll probably find some way to watch the next astartes, but I gave up on everything GW after years and gave my poorly painted steel legion minis from the mid aughts to a neighbor kid to play with. It's just a soap opera with 2019 messaging written in at this point. Looking for something else to play and trench crusade made up for all its promise by sucking even harder than james workshop.

>>97353967>Dragonblooded?Dragonblooded also interact with Exaltation this way. Unlike a Celestial Exalt who is judged solely by his individual qualities, a Dragonblooded interfaces with Elemental Exaltation mostly through the purity of his blood. With that said, virtually all mortals have at least a drop of the dragon's blood inside them, and many essentially Exalt as their soul harmonizes with a particular Elemental Dragon-- outweighing their lack of breeding. There's a bunch of little things that might also need justification as I run into them, but for the most part this is how I've been modifying my setting for a while and it quells my brain goblins.
>>97353657Nobody really knows if there's anything that'll work. Destroying Creation is just the best guess.
>>97353639There's zero evidence any of them feel like that. All we know is that the Neverborn are suffering forever at the edge of annihilation and believe they have to drag everything with them in order to finally be released.
>>97352209>To clarify further, it's a really annoying trend in these threads of "XYZ thing is making it so my god king who can punch mountains in half has to actually level up and roll dice and work for things! They have to take part in the setting!" That is a very fascinating phenomenon and I don't know where it stems from because most stories prefer the protagonists to have opposition that is stronger than them but must be defeated with courage and cleverness. You'd have to be reading nothing but the most degenerate LitRPG/isekai shit imaginable to think that a good RP story is about how you're the strongest guy ever and how everybody else is there to fawn at your feet.

>>97346853OSR is alt right, 5e is far left.OSR is mostly trying not to get party wiped, so playing becomes very ruthless, it's 99% surviving and 1% roleplay. Don't think it's a coincidence that everytime a woman, black or gay played OSR, regardless who who DM, we got party wiped that session.5e allows for a lot of roleplay as survival is pretty much bottom priority, PCs are so powerful it doesn't matter, and my LGS looks like a pride parade on D&D days, drag queens, gender fluid, etc. a lot of diva fights as they all want to be the main character.A lot of talk of separating the 2 groups, they truly loathe each other. I used to play campaigns in both and it sucked. Kept holding out for better groups but if the players didn't suck, the GM would.

>>97353846gnomes are the evil counterpart to halflings
>>97353846Gnomes as tinkerers suck major balls. It's an extremely narrow and ill-defined niche. The only reason they did it is because in folklore a lot of gnomes lived underground (like dwarves). If anything, they should be more Fey-like.

>>97353997The Hobbit was published in 1937. Gnomes are folklore inventions from centuries ago. I think gnomes have endured for far longer. Regardless, the point is that trying to use gnomes to make them fit into Tolkien-inspired races is getting them backwards. They should be the original ones, older and more magical, no the other way around.

>>97348419>I do not have and coming out in support of "criticism" that involves throwing a functional and important rule system into the dumpster; they can fuck off and you can fuck off with them.I my experience Invention is the least used Tech ability. Field Expertise is by far the most useful and Upgrade/Fabricate are more situational, but still get alot of use because of how strong they are early game. I don't think players really want to go through the "GM may I" process described in core, so don't want to commit Tech levels to the specialty.I think a "fix" to this issue is just to streamline things and grant the Tech all it's specialties each level instead of forcing you to pick two.

>>97353793>it'd be hilarous to see a human just completely manhandling a na'vi twice his size with little to no difficultyThat's the real bitch of it - it may not be as effortless as you make it out to be.Low gravity is a weird thing and a real complication, both short and long-term.You begin to really appreciate the gravity when you're trying to stop things from flying off due to the lack of it.Gravity, to an extent, helps you handle things, as it bleeds some of the kinetic energy off.tl;dr: manhandling a na'vi would be extremely awkward for all parties involved.I do love the mental image, though. It is hilarious.
>>97353896It is something you can learn to grow used to though, as evidenced by astronauts coming down from the ISS dropping shit all the goddamn time. The issue would be maintaining your muscle and bone strength over a long period, but I imagine that if they've gotten to the stage where interstellar travel is possible, they probably have better solutions to that than us, especially since there's resources on other planets in the solar system. Though even something as simple as a human being able to pick up and throw a na'vi or being able to easily yank a weapon out of their hands would work. Or a Na'Vi trying to pick a human up and failing because holy shit this thing is way heavier than it looks
>>97353918I'd be more concerned about the cardiovascular complications than the loss of muscle and bone density, not that it's any less important, mind you.Pandora does have gravity, though, however weak(er). Exercise and some time in the centrifuge to experience ~1g would go a long way to help maintain decent health. That said, na'vi would be rather light for their size. The size and weight comparison is made even more complicated once we factor in the low-grav.FWIW I recall them flinging humans away in the first movie, but not casually tossing them around like ragdolls.Long limbs and muscles stretched over them are not conducive to great feats of strength, low gravity or not.
>>97353946Well that can simply be explained with the writers being hacks who write shit that has implications they literally don't understand. Big=strong. Even if they're built like fucking twigs and come from a planet with less gravity than earth meaning their musculoskeletal system needs to be and is thus less strong and robust than a human of comparable size would be, thy're bigger so that means they MUST be stronger. This is also evidenced by their bows being able to punch through what's almost certainly bulletproof glass, even though, again, they'd be weaker than an earth bow of comparable size because the wielder is weaker and the natural materials they're using to make them don't need to be as strong, so they probably won't be, and the targets that they're hunting with them are organic and from the same planet where everything needs to be less robust and thus IS generally less robust.

Its not historical but it is a fun casual game for balanced forces just duking it out compared to some other historicals which are more historical sim than game.>>97335345Team yankee used to be my go to game but like >>97340160 said the game is basically just a NATO jerk off simulator while PACT players are basically just hordes of mooks for NATO to have fun blowing up It gives NATO fucking prototype vehicles from the late 90s despite being set in 1985 While PACT is stuck choosing what flavor of period accurate shit tank to spam.Generally compared to NATO, PACT units have dogshit stats and are hit on 3 instead of 4 but they make up for this by having 2-4x the numbers and usually better morale but even so NATO units are just so cost effective that even their spam lists of shit NATO units are better than PACTs so PACT can't even really do hordes as good as NATO.Point "balancing" came out for team yankee and it nerfed some PACT spam lists like mass Hinds and gave meager point drops to T-72s and T-80s dropping them by 1 measly point each. Then the balancing massively cut points for NATOs prototype shit by like 30% with the M1A1 going from like 18 points to 12 FYI the M1A1s front armor cannot be penetrated by anything in PACTS entire arsenal outside of aircraft missiles and has the highest armor penetration gun of any tank in game.

>>97353474Midwar infantry isnt too great at doing stuff compared to late war infantry since they lack real AT so you'll have to compensate for that with something else like AT guns not that you shouldnt bring lots of support for infantry lists anyway thats why those options are in the infantry formations. In late war Infantry lists were a fucking joke because german AA halftracks that are armored and hit on 4s were literally cheaper than most infantry hit on 3s but the point changes to fix the spam issue has made infantry more viable even though infantry and most gun teams havent gotten point changes for late war yet and I have had a tough time dealing with some lists that spam infantry but I would avoid soviet 4+ save infantry those are still an absolute joke of a unit.
