Bumping the thread for a beautiful map
>>
I love battlemaps as art but they're honestly the worst for playing.

- Players assume anything not on the map isn't there
- players assume anything on the map is there
- players see everything on the map even if they shouldn't know about it yet

I do actually. Best method so far is just "large breasts for her size". Might have something to do with her being a gnome, but for other characters you have to be much more direct with clothing options.

>Are there any meta cyoas with interesting options?
Well, Tok's Nemesis allows a rival player to crash (your) adventure with a bunch of powers, minions, and a mandate to break (you).

Anglerfish turns (your) current cyoa build into a death trap (you) have to escape.

Shoggoth Maid adds a new companion type. Guess what kind?

EternalAnon and OutrageousBears did metas that added points to their other cyoas.

. . .To be honest, though, I don't usually take advantage of metas, so I'm almost certainly missing some cool ideas.

Seconding OR. It's raison d'être is to make the best story for (You).
Lamentations, perhaps? A lot of cool places and autistic depth about you as a character through the DLC.
If you're creative Otherwise might be good too. It starts after your death, which gives off plot hooks, and the powers are abstract enough to be fun.
Heart Adrift/Cityscape. It paints a vivid image in your head, with every detail being a spring for new adventures. Strong emotional core too.

>>
>>97262638
>Wizard
Learn the most spells with their spellbook

>Cleric
Healing is the leat useful and interesting thing they do but helpful. Aoe with spirit guardians etc. Great buffs and healing obviously

>Druid
Nature spells, healing, wildshape. Weird class with far too much it can do.

>Bard
Buffs, debuffs, skills, social mastery. Jack of all trades which is now a full caster. Used to be a joke but now an S tier class.

>Sorcerer
Less spell options than wizard by far. Metamagic lets them change their spells or get more spell slots. Metamagic used belong to everyone. Now they’ve stolen it from everyone else. Since charisma is their main stat they can be the party face too.

>Learn the most spells with their spellbook
Yes, I already knew this one.
>Healing is the leat useful and interesting thing they do but helpful. Aoe with spirit guardians etc. Great buffs and healing obviously
Interesting, I had already read something about the healing, but I didn't know about the second part
>Druid
Thanks, there's a druid on my table who's about half support and half damage.
Wildshape seems to open up many opportunities for infiltration or survival.
>Bard
Yes, I've been looking at the bard's spell list and it's very versatile. The bard I've played with is very support-focused, offering buffs, debuffs, a lot of THP, and some healing. It's like a Swiss Army knife.
I'm actually kind of keen to make the bard my first fullcaster. I feel like my playstyle and roleplay feel very bardic.
>Sorcerer
my second option.
>Warlock
I feel like it could be cool, but my GM is a bit annoying when it comes to playing a warlock, cleric, and paladin because their powers are subject to an external, conscious force.

Now, what would be a good reason to rob a crashed merchant Behemoth that wouldn't get you marked as a pirate
>>
>>97262878
Succession war wreck.
>>
>>97262878
You work for or owe a favor to the owner/insurance company . Or just heard rumor around town there’s enough spare parts in them there holds to put together a force that doesn’t have to worry about the local law
>>
>>97262878
You are mercs that work for the insurance company that provided coverage for the merchants. To recover costs after paying out the claim the company has tasked your merc group to recover as much of the cargo, equipment, and technology away from the crash site as possible. Your merc group is motivated by a tiered payment system based on the C-bill value of recovered property, as well as a bonus for the denial of any unrecoverable assets and destroyed competition.
>>
>>97262878
You're not robbing it. Between conflicts involving the owners, the operating company, the government of register, owners of the cargo, and the insurance companies, plus the jurisdictional issues including the disputed ownership of where it crashed and the conflict between the recognized customs of space versus the laws and contracts of the claimants which also delve into conflicting laws and customs regarding salvage, any claims of piracy are at best an unsubstantiated opinion arising from a conflict of interest and at worst slander/libel.

Finally got around Chu Han, it's a pretty neat little 2 player take on President. Probably a bit too long for its own good, but I think it wins out over his Winter Court if only because tug of war can feel inherently pales compared to destroying/being destroyed across multiple tricks. I'm also a sucker for tempo focused card games and both of them use it well, so they'll both probably stay for now.
That said, I am consistently amazed by how much the gulag despises anything closely related to classic games that has an ounce of luck.

Everyone I know who watches Fatt Coville videos is a fucking terrible GM. I've never fully watched one and I am widely considered the best GM out of all 3 groups I'm part of. I am regularly requested to run campaigns. People borderline fall asleep in the games others run. There's also no tension because they know that these Coville acolytes will fudge rolls until all PCs survive the battle.

If you're a good GM, it's an inmate talent you can hone over time. You're born that way. If you aren't, then no amount of shitty advice is going to make up for your lack of talent. It just is what it is. This idea that everyone should "try" DMing is retarded. The idea that anyone can be good at it? lolno. Its like some fat divorced on who suddenly decides he's gonna become a famous author. Fat chance. Most people fucking suck at GMing. Hell, most of them suck at playing, but at least in that case the game depends less on them.

>Anon that's retarded. Like literally 0 creative hobbies work like that.
I'm sure Picasso and Van Gogh had community feedback on their paintings as they were happening.
>Everyones got blindspots, especially when it comes to subjective shit like arts, so feedback is important.
I don't want to go to a movie and have the director pause it halfway through and ask me how he could do it better.
>if they actually want good feedback they basically need to record themselves GMing and do a VoD review with another actually good GM
This is actually a good point, except then it goes to the problem that 90% of DMs are too fucking retarded and untalented to actually implement that advice.

>>97258615
Yes, experience is the only real teacher. That doesn't guarantee you will get better, but it is absolutely the only possible way you will. Most won't. Most just are complete shit. I have a friend who has DMed way more than me in the time I've known him (overall though I have far more experience) and he still sucks 7 years later.
>>

>until that one quiet wallflower suddenly explodes and shouts how much they've hated the game from day one and how you always ignore them
If they're a wallflower then they can leave the game, no one will miss them. If some fags spergs out like that then he can leave anyway.
>Honestly, man, I don't think you play games at all, you just talk about them on reddit and /tg/ pretending to know shit.
You play games online with disposable fake friends and low-effort garbage DMs. That's part of the issue.
>when five minutes of being frank going "you're too stingy with loot" or "we'd like more combat encounters" would fix everything.
Yes the campaign should be something the players can adjust with metagame sliders all the time.
>wahhh we want more loot!
Is this an 00s boomer webcomic meme? Of course they do. Sometimes the problem is what it is the players should solve it in game. Sometimes it is an actual issue, but that doesn't mean the DM should be catering to the players' whims. That's like a child being given 100 dollars for a candy shop.
Also, a good DM will simply give out the correct amount. No, what the players want, doesn't really matter. What they want is usually gay and infantile 90% of the time.
>b-b-b-b-but it's all about fun
If you want low-effort high-loot slop, then go play a video game. A good dungeon master wouldn't indulge those kinds of vidya-minded tards.
>muh no true scotsman fallacy
If you don't believe in even semi-objective standards for good DMing, regardless of what playoids might want in the moment (again, a child craves to eat all the candy in the world, but the stomachache afterward will make him wish he hadn't), then I can't help you. You'll just reduce everything to subjectivity and use that to justify the mindset that the DM should suck off the players.
>>
>>97259540
Astonishing, not a single shred of intelligence in this post anywhere.
>>
>>97259507
>Van Gogh
You mean the man who died broke and insane, with his art considered worthless and talentless until he died? That's really your comparison for "you're either gifted or you're not", the man who couldn't sell his skills to literally save his life? Jesus christ, how are you such an idiot?
>>
being a good DM/player is mostly attitude.
I've DM'd for people who bragged about having decades of experience and they ended up being annoying problem players and I've DM'd for first time players who had great instincts and were a lot of fun to play with.

most GM advice is common sense that anyone with social skills and storytelling ability will know.

your GM might rule that you can't put the 2nd Javelins adjacent to the 1st, but that's up to him, otherwise it seems like a good damage dealer in exchange for an overcharge and a limited system use assuming you manage to hit everything and the enemy fails all their saves

i mean, RAW it doesn't say you can't place them next to previously placed javelins. it just says you can't place the contents of a single salvo next to each other.

And it also jobs to armor, since it's all technically instances of 3 damage or less.

But 21 damage is a hell of a single target nova, and 9 isn't bad for single target costless.
