Anyone else give sentience/personality to their powers. My Jumper initially went throught generic cyoa and chose worm cyoa v1. Then he picked the beefed up triumvirate options of Alexandria, Legend and Eidolon. naturally he also picked the perks of shattered limiter, blank, invictus and inspiration. However had some leftover points and got power manipulation. He used PM to copy the siberian projection power and made some modifications to it and inserted the power into his eidolon powerset. He correctly assumed that the predictive nature of the eidolon power implied an intelligence and she became a companion for him. She now tends to pretty much any need or desire no matter how small.
>>
>>She will ,via precognition, slot a power for any little desire no matter how unneeded it might be. His alexandria package removes need for sustenance but he might have an appetite so eidolon will slot a food creation power but instead of having to use it himself her projection will do it.

I'm going to bet on 2027. They already have at least 2 armies up for 2026, and I wouldn't be surprised they squeeze in Reaper Covenant before Menoth.
>>
>>97354719
>Literally false
Legacy armies DO NOT include all models in the old factions, in fact most are very curated.

Furthermore, they're purely a gameplay concession and nothing more. Most of the casters are dead, most of the units and warjacks don't exist anymore in lore, you are no longer collecting something that is relevant to any continued world building and the setting didn't do the Battletech thing of having separate eras that are all supported.

They're also bad for the game, because now half the tournament legal armies in the game are quite literally unable to be purchased. If a legacy army becomes meta, it either gets nerfed fast or the cost to entry skyrockets past GW prices.

Again, this could have been avoided if every original faction had some representation by now, but if you wanted to play Skorne and don't already own it? Get fucked retard. Menoth? Wait 3 years for Adepticon 2026. Mercenaries? Circle? Kill yourselves.

They found a solution for the sweatest of tournament scenes but neglected to do anything to generate interest in new players. Paywalling ALL the Mk4 lore behind the FUCKING PHONE APP was the dumbest decision they could have made.
Jesus Christ, just release PDFs so people can at least TALK about it before they pay any money.

GW does so well because there are a million onboarding points for random dorks to be exposed to 40k prior to being funneled into buying plastic crack.
Mk1/Mk2 had plenty of discussion on /tg/ back in the day, and great word of mouth in stores that was supported by physical lore books that could be seen in person before purchase.

A very vocal group of AD&D 1e literalists that are somehow in the BAPsphere on Twitter are not reflective of the larger OSR, or the politics of the authors in the 70s-90s.

>Infinity is way too complex and niche. Soicast also made all the details on their minis soft. They did well in N4 to remove spanglish and nested rules, but rebloated in N5. Lore is actually bad, it's very boring, bland and generic. I remember when Toni Macayana died, everyone just asked when they'll rerelease the tikbalang. No one cares at all.
They made the biggest mistake of trying to become more mainstream. Infinity used to have anime aesthetics, hot female minis, and more grounded designs. They used to set the trends that even GW tried following, and made miniatures so incredible it crashed their own website. Now it's all capeshit, safe bland designs, NA2, and some of the most retarded looking minis like the new MAF, SP and CA. They're now constantly chasing trends, every army plays like herohammer, and they're constantly fighting SKU bloat by discontinuing armies while introducing new ones. All for the 'mainstream' audience that will never give them the light of day especially with 40k dominating that audience and the fact that they do not have good PR no matter how many influencers they pay.
>>
>>97354640
They proved to be incompetent by not retaining people during/after the covid lockdowns. Most of those new customers didn't stay very long after the lockdowns lifted, and realized the model kits were extremely expensive. However, you're not wrong about their IP having reach, because even if they're not buying kits, they're buying games and eventually other media (when/if the amazon slop comes out?). GW still makes a ton of money from licensing and potentially bringing in more people into their product ecosystem regardless of how long they stay.

Battletech does have games, but I dont know how popular they are. Corvus Belli is trying to get their trash aristeia game into vidya, and they supposedly have a movie being made.

Writing General: 'festive' edition

Welcome to /wg/, the thread for all /tg/ related writing. Whether you're plotting your campaign, trying to come up with a character backstory, or just trying to write some setting fluff, this is the place to post it. You guys ever just rip off a video game, or a TV show in its entirety because your players are to normie to know the material?
>>

I ran a dark fantasy D&D group using mostly dark souls bosses and dungeons for that reason. Through my own spin on things of course, but the general premise of them stayed intact.

Honestly you could lift plots wholesale from older media since the current generation is too young to know what it is. You could crib Columbo for murder mysteries, X-Files for weird one-off encounters of the week, Seinfeld or Frasier or a billion other sitcoms for background characters at a bar or restaurant.

Thanks man, it's also a bit of a nudge. Lilies are toxic to cats and the daughters are implied to be honey traps.

Pussy, catting around, etc.

The idea is they follow armies and find marriage prospects while also being on guard against more feminine seduction. It's kind of a running joke that they're the opposite of a femme fatale. The first one players meet is named Betty and the first from the other side is named Veronica, who is trying to seduce field marshal Archibald.

Hey there

I've decided to start a West Marches-style campaign on my LGS. It sounds the perfect style to run for a public setting w/ rotating players, but I myself have never DMed one

Any experiences, tips and advices regarding DM-ing/playing West Marches style games?

Or general tips for running games on LGS ?

For those unfamiliar with West Marches style, here is what google have to say about it:
>Player-Driven Exploration: Players decide where to go and what to explore, venturing into unknown territory from a safe starting town.
>Rotating Cast: A large pool of players participates, but different combinations of adventurers form parties for each session, preventing the need for a single regular group.
>Sandbox World: The world is a sandbox, with the map and plot emerging as players discover new locations and rumors, rather than being dictated by the GM.
>No Fixed Schedule: Sessions occur when players organize themselves, often on a voluntary basis.
>Low GM Prep: The Game Master (GM) focuses on creating a world and potential encounters, responding to player choices, rather than crafting complex plots.
>Self-Contained Sessions: Adventures are often designed to be resolved in a single session, with storylines evolving over time.

>Thoughts anyone?
You've got more than enough ideas that its getting in the way of running your game. Really. Its just piling more shit on at this point and I get you're excited about a thing but the more you fantasize about it before playing it the worse its going to get.
>>
>>97355777
Well, if I could I would have scheduled the first session for today (Tuesday night), but manager from the LGS said there were already too many groups playing today and asked to start at next week instead

While I agree that thinking too much can be a problem, I'm actually getting A LOT of prep done these past few days. Currently, I'm researching combat balance tips and CR monsters to put together interesting tables of what can be featured on which biome and whatnot. Nevertheless, some ideas that come to me I just put them on hold because there are things that are simply not worth thinking about at this stage

One thing that came to me right now is:
>my play test session has only 3 PCs atm
>however, I'm "balancing" everything to be at least 4 PCs
>considering inviting one of the "official" players to the test session (lets call him Bob)
>that could potentially make the test session an official session
>next Tuesday, I would tell the new players that the Bob's PC arrived in the camp later and already explored the wilderness

This would be interesting because it would fix the size problem for my test group, and would link both groups together - that way, if the group I'm using for test decides to keep playing the WM campaign, I could run that group in parallel (that would be schedule efficient since we already meet every week anyways) while already having a connection to the "main" LGS group

Helps that Bob already knows my core group since they are all part of my MtG draft group
>>
Color scheme looks shitty, but I've been testing the map generation procedure in hand (plus, getting familiar with it - the hex copy feature is still a bit harder to remember the directions)
>>
>>97355767
I think you should abandon the idea and just start with the camp with some rumours. Having your first session be set up differently than the rest of it just seems strange, especially because so few of the players will actually get to experience it.
However, if you do stick with this and want to avoid quantum ogres, I would let them make a choice but give them very strong indicators that one direction likely has more shipwreck and maybe more people, while the other direction is complete wilderness. Otherwise having them choose to go north vs south is a meaningless choice anyway.
>>97355904
This feels a little strange to do. I could imagine a new player being put off by "hey this one dude already has gotten to explore the world a little bit with my friends, a group that you'll never meet". Also I think having some people that are part of the campaign but who never meet or interact with any of the other people might also feel odd, as I imagine that ideally everyone in the LGS group would end up at least get acquainted with everyone else. Having a separate group completely disconnected from that would be weird. I don't think it's a huge deal though if you really want to do it

For Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.
>fantasy settings
They're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions.
>loadouts for fantasy
If you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.

Seeing space marines without big shoulder pads and stompy boots makes me irrationally angry
>>
>>97360601
The most anoying part is not just the armour design, is the absolutely lack of care for the SM concept, and the prostitution of the brand adding more and more slightly different marine types with overlapping roles.
Regular marines are the universal soldiers, they should be able to do almost everything in a decent way.
Now there are 3+ types of phobos plus original scouts. God knows how many different types of range marines all with the same gun like eldars, as many heavy and jetpack marines plus terminators.
The bloat is endless.

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

True, but I'm firm on an addition of a Yeoman of possible!

I'm going to go ahead and stick what I said, based on experience, and being in the wargaming gig for as long as I remember.

You can't defend the nonsense with anything other then top tier quality figures. Especially when you come to the table with a lot of talk, hopes, and dreams.
We've seen it once, we've seen it a thousand times, with as many games and "Companies" on a list as long as my arm.

I'm interested, as I said, but from what I've seen of it, you take the bull by the horns, put your contacts together with your "Legends of the Industry", and get to work from the basics. "Lack of bottle" is just that. Grow the stones, or step aside and give the project to someone who's not afraid to get thier hands dirty.

Facts are facts. KICKSTARTER, as your medium for raising money for games is pretty much dead/ dying. Too many broken promises, and thieves in the night.

If Pirinen wants to get right with the lord, he buckles down, gets a small, hungry and scrappy bunch together, takes, or delegates a shop monkey to take the book down to Kinkos/ Staples/ wherever, or puts a contract with a printer/ or contracts with solid quality like Osprey, and cranks out a book. Project Management is not rocket science, contrary to popular opinion. Set goals, Benchmarks, Targets, and get to work, and crack the whip.

Second, contracts the figures old school, or prints 1 figure out of each troop, and sends them to a figure maker, or sends them to someone who knows more then just how to turn a 3d printer on. Second choice, is bite the bullet, and make these buggers out of plastic/ sans Wargames Atlantic (Which I suggest, and put a rush on it.)

Third is the excuses. Stop. Stop blaming everyone for everything, because at the end of the day, the attitude, and arrogance are leaving money on the table. End of the day, we can get nasty about it, or push the game in a positive direction, as we should do in the first place. Leadership comes when you step up, apologize, and take the slings and arrows, and push the ball forward into the goal.

I'm not going to fight about it, because this game really does look interesting.

Here is a treat, Ladies. Enjoy.

The fact that you're even in a position to be gabbing speaks volumes. I've seen what happens when someone wants to wipe out people. I know how you wipe out populations.

Something else is happening here little princess. You have resources. Make sure you're asking the right questions.

I understand and sympathize, Scarlet
Blue Fairy, where was the abomination located, don't ask why, just trust me.
Venus, you are lucky. That is all I will say and I speak from experience. -Kakophoni

If the situation demands it, I will take Boy Toy to Scholar. Hopefully we can fix this, depending on what kind of abomination it is.

Black Hand/Tal'mahe'Ra isn't involved from what little info I've been provided, they aren't the type to create an abomination let alone let it run free.
I have suspicions but I really hope I'm wrong. I do hope to visit Boy Toy to see how he's acting. -Kakophoni

We discussed what to do with Boy Toy again after mom was done calling everyone, and we unanimously agreed to attempt an erythroexchange combined with a plasma exchange. If the problem is caused by abomination blood, we just had to replace it.
Of course we didn't drain the guy by ingesting that shit ourselves, but with a modernized version of the ancient medical practice of bloodletting, then squeezed some 17 blood bags and 4 liters of plasma in his mouth.

Mom asked big bro how "it" felt.

He told her the story of how he got the largest pelt for her coat. It was an old male Amur leopard which wasn't fertile anymore and behaved as if he was born in the wild.
He had his mates put that corner of the City That Never Sleeps to sleep by cutting off electricity, phone & internet network and so on. Boy Toy's target had escaped from the zoo and he had to chase it in a building. If anyone remembers that random couple of posts about an "agile piece of shit" in all caps >>97202586 >>97202612 and me telling him to turn the smartwatch off, that was the context.

Turns out Cope's been a buddy of his for a while, she used her mastery of her clan's Disciplines plus Dominate and her computer wizardry to make sure nobody in the flat would have memories of records of the incident.
Their date on the execution night on Orthodox Xmas plus two more nights was his way of paying her back. He's also paying for Scarlet's classes in Dementation, Obfuscate and psych by taking Cope for a ride in the snow with the 1300hp Subaru.

He then answered Mother's question: "That fucker's vitae tasted better than finally snapping the Amur leopard's neck after that long hunt in a dark urban jungle AND watching Mother 'fuck the lady in the mirror' with the finished fur coat AND our latest two SM orgies - combined."

Mom probed his memories then gave bro a big furry hug.
