It kinda annoys me how the anime just... ignores the energy generator completely most of the time. There were a couple of scenes in the first few episodes and occasionally someone decides to actually mention that they set the generator, but I feel like I'd enjoy the concept more if Divinez gave more focus to it. If charging the generator had some kind of flashy visual or something to make it feel cool.

Probably some idea that they had good reason to use, but then all those benefits were overwritten by other things as the game developed. We already know that the idea wasn't "we measure in shapes" but "we measure in colours", but then the shapes were added last minute to help with colourblindness and that's how they ended up with the pentagon representing 6" and triangle representing 1" and then people started thinking more in terms of the shapes than the colours.
Probably also something that sounded good in theory, but was less so in practice.
