>>97258150>but ECM only temporarily disrupts itAt least you can rebuild your network again. I don't play with networks enough to know if 30% will make it unplayable.
>>97258150The 30% BV increase works fine if you're running all heavies and assaults but not so good if you are running lights and some mediums since even with the ECM changes you're still potentially competing with a targeting computer for the weight and cost involved. keep in mind you've still got a mech that needs to spend tonnage on a C3 Master here
>>97258170You only get a bonus as long as you keep your units at medium or long range, if your opponent is smart he closes with you as fast as possible, using cover to break line of sight as much as possible on the way in. Because once you're in short range you effectively no longer get a bonus and they've got more bv than you.Back when it was 20% for the 4 unit c3 force the comparison was as follows: two identical 4 unit lances where one uses c3 with 4/5 pilots and the other has 3 gunnery across the board but no c3 has the same bv.This means you have to leverage your situational -2 to hit Vs your opponents permanent effective -1 to hit enough such that once the opponent can close to short range his damage output is already reduced to the point that you can win the brawl despite your worse pilots. With the new situationAt 30% you're still only getting a situational -2, and now your opponent has even more BV to counter you with.ECM no longer fully shuts you down but bv wise even if it was 20 instead of 30% you're now equal for to hit rolls as your opponent with better gunners. The positive changes to c3: ECM doesn't 100% shut you down anymore, instead only halving your effective bonus, and it is no longer prohibitively expensive to run 7+ unit c3 forces, as the extra bv percentage got a cap.Negatives: the increased cost on the most common sizes of c3 forces (4 units) makes it basically unplayable at the scale at which most games of battletech occur.
>>97258168Yeah, so much post-dune scifi traces something back to dune. Taking that slight fantasy approach with latherings of handwaves, maybe a lost/gatekeeping technology background and a sprinkle of prophecy or magic was all important for creating a certain kind of futuristic setting.Though tbf psychic stuff used to be generally more popular in scifi. It's kind of sad that its real life status going from "potentially but unlikely" to basically flatly disproven means it's no longer as accepted. I like psychics in my scifi. Out of anything they add to the next AU settings, I want psychic rules.
Can someone explain what thrust exceeding SI means? I just planted my own ASF in the dirt by forcing this piloting check.

An odd question but do any of you guys know if there is, or how to make, a piece like the viewport the hussar has in front of it's head, but on a smaller scale?
>>97256794I don't understand the question. Are you talking about a drawing? A mini? A game rules design?
>>97256794Man, that's a tough one. Maybe a bit off an older tank or bunker miniature?
>>97256794On the smallest scales the easiest thing is usually to just sculpt it out of putty. The details are gonna be a bit blobby regardless of the method and it's easy. Otherwise get some tiny tank kits like flames of war. Those are shockingly good for kitbashing with mechs.
>>97250544my setting has the players fight as civilian monster hunters (ala a civilian militia), and they're all incentivized to customize their mechs for branding to receive better recognition and contracts, so it greatly varies based on region and personal aesthetics. Some people use the parts as they come, while some come up with shit that makes them look like they're 12. It doesn't help there are widespread artisan-mechanic guilds that are paid to do this work with specialized tools and materials. The military itself uses basic muted colors for their mechs or camo, and leaders get a special mark to distinguish them.

So in Starfinder 1e it really seems like Evolutionist has some really glaring drawbacks when it comes to niches, all of them seem fucking hellbent on killing you like a retard, which is weird to me since it seems like the class isn't even that good in the first place so having drawbacks as insane as they are is confusing considering the other classes seem just as good without the chance of you being raped by double damage from electricity
https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/1pxqn06/mythic_experiences/Every time I see a thread along the lines of "What do you think of Pathfinder 2e's mythic rules?" the response is almost universally "They are underwhelming and boring" or something similar.
You think they will ever revisit some adventure path "concepts" Id be interested in another carrion crown or skulls and shackles. For that matter remembering back to 1e I fully did not understand how they wanted the start of skulls in shackles to be run with influencing crew members on wormwood. Felt really awkward when I tried to run it but I feel like I missed something.

How would you implement undead PCs in a game, in a way that feels flavorful and meaningfully different from regular PCs?
>>97257344It's been a very long time since I played any version of D&D so apologies if some of this isn't relevant, but I'll bite.First thing is what sort of 'flavour' are you after? Associated with the night? Comparatively easy, they get penalties in open bright light. If you're feeling generous or want a "old and powerful can withstand it", maybe they get a save every (time period). Doesn't have to be 'crumbles to ash', we all know players will twist themselves silly to avoid even a -1.Anon above mentioned that a lack of disease etc takes out certain dangers. Well, yes - so have some new ones. Maybe being near a temple is like being near a gas cloud - consecrated ground rules may already exist, but is there a surrounding "irradiated area", so to say? That's why they avoid cities, there's loads of them. Tweak for god/alignment type as need be. Does even SEEING a holy symbol provoke some sort of constant, low-level Turn attempt? Similar response, populated areas are bad. Besides, you've more risk of meeting a paladin or cleric than out in the wild (though conversely druids may be an issue there).Want to keep travelling logistics A Thing? Vampires need blood, obviously, but if they're not that type of undead do they need some other sort of sustenance? The ever popular ghoulish cannibalism? Top-up spells or rituals or the like?Really though, no matter what game you play you'll still need to have at least some of these things in mind. Something like WoD does it for you, to a point, but you still need to have an idea of how you'd like your PC's to act and think.
>>97255834I don't have to implement it, the system already did.

TTRPGs are a social game first and foremost. That means there's unspoken rules that vary from group-to-group, but a common one is "acceptable breaks from sensibility" in the name of game experience or table cohesion. It's the kind of thing that keeps the bitter rivalry between the Elf and the Dwarf largely to amusing banter and not outright PvP. It's an innate instinct: nobody likes to spoil the atmosphere, because that's a large part of the appeal of a good game (alongside the freedom). That being said, there are also times when the group's course of action is patently retarded and you can't meaningfully push back on it without feeling like you'd cause a big fight over nothing (and then feel obligated to keep comrades away from the consequences), or something a character cannot abide has to be "sanded over" somewhat, or you as the GM don't want to cultivate the feeling that you're antagonizing your players by hitting them over the head with "you murdered someone because it was convenient and didn't even take measures to cover your tracks" or whatever unhinged misadventure occurred because something about the player position of the table cause human beings to lose IQ. Have you ever had that feeling? I think I see enough greentexts to think it's common.
