Durable Pacifist

CONT: Sentinel

AUTO: When this unit is put on (GC), choose one of your units, and it cannot be hit until end of that battle. If your hand has two or more cards, choose a card from your hand, and discard it.

Luminous Breach Dragon

AUTO RC:For each card in your damage zone, this cost is reduced by [Energy Blast (1)]. When this unit attacks, [COST][Energy Blast (5)], and this unit gets [Power]+10000 until end of that battle.

You guys are coping hard. The game is about to die.
>>
>>97366412
It's down, obviously. But for a niche TCG It's doing fine despite the awful management.
If it dies it dies, I love this Franchise but I'll just move over to a different game if this one goes up in flames. Though I hope it doesn't, none of the other games I play are as fun as Vanguard other than Digimon.

>>
>>97366353
State Troops are still overcosted for what they do, which hurts the entire army if you try to build it the traditional way. The City-State of Nuln army is doing good if you like to spam outriders. Haven't seen anyone play the Knightly Orders army, but it seems a bit costly for what you get.
>>
>>97366464
I forgot, the State Troops with swords are doing pretty good (but not great) now that Parry is a thing. Having that 4+ in melee really helps.

I use Fate for all settings I run. I tried to play Labyrinthus and Lewd Attack exactly for the reason you're pointing out, I wanted to see how it made things work, but I prefer simpler systems.
>>
>>97362380
Then you either start reading erotic novellas or try to use the tables from the systems. Otherwise you can't expect much from just using a generic setting with no attempts to implement lewd mechanics or lewd scenarios
>>

where are her teamates?

check spacesuit for smaller tentacle monster
put it on if there are none

>>
>>97361032
NTA but the more I like a character, the harder time I have putting them through the absolute suffering dick-train that is being a heroine: it does make playing a male character easier in that way (but similarly, the lewd starts taking a backseat to the gameplay for me at that point).
>>
>>97366429
You don't choose to have bad things happen to your girl, they just happen - but if you love her then you are more worried about her and thus the action is more tense.

Already, I couldn't resist and grabbed the Siege Battle Group with the new Cataphractii, Leviathan and 10 breacher. I want to start a melee centric chapter and I think it will be Space Wolves. They aren't cringe and have a neat paint scheme, unlike 40k decedents. Plus nothing is more frustrating than failing a charge and it looks like they get a huge bonus with the set-up moves.

What other units should I get for a more melee centric force?

I think I can still find the 2.0 starter set, which would give me lots of bodies, more termis and a spartan to deliver them (although having Cataphractii in 2 different scales kinda blows).

Are Contemptors and Levis decent in melee in the first place? Are Grey Slayers a decent line unit? I sure fucking hope so since they came with shields and axes stock, which is awesome.

I thought about getting the Saturnine set, but from what I gather Saturnine Terminators and Dread are shooty and suck in melee?
>>
>>97366468
Grey Slayers are one of the best Line units. Fenris axes are better than chainswords, and they got combat shields too.
Contemptors and leviathans are okay in melee, but most effective against other tough models like vehicles. Leviathans need ranged weapons so they have something to do if they don't get a chance to reach melee.
The saturnine dreadnought is indeed purely a ranged weapon platform, but saturnine terminators can be build as a command squad which is the toughest elite melee unit marines can field. The rules for saturnine command squads are in the Forges of Saturn journal.
But unless you really want the new saturnine units there's no reason to grab that box if you already have enough infantry models.

All variants of command squads are very deadly in melee, as are assault veterans. Tartaros terminators are so mobile now you can get away with not using a transport. There's no reason to take Despoilers when you have Grey Slayers. Assault marines are a neat harassment unit, but SW disliked jump packs so not really fitting.

Yeah they are cheap simple spells that witchers learn. They are basically making a rune gang sign that lets you do a simple spell. No proper mage would consider them 'real' magic but they don't need years of in depth learning so they are great for witchers.
>>
>>97366191
Honestly the signs are useful as fuck.
>>
>>97366096
So Witcher signs are ninja bullshit then? That makes sense somehow.
>>
>>97366191
But could you, for example, draw the rune using light magic without moving your body and get the effect, or is the gesture a physical incantation?
>>
>>97366238
From what I know the motion is required for witchers. Mainly because of how simplified their magic training is.

I think Stormcast should get a big dragon that carries them around in lightning form and the gimmick is that it gets a once per game attack where the dragon hurls the lightning at the opponent and regardless of whether it wounds or not thw Stormcast they were holding are in battle with the target now.

I like tom and respect his opinion but I've grown tired of their slowly presented top 100 years ago. So I've just gotten Marrakesh after telling queen games I want my money back because of their complete radio silence for 9 or so months. They actually upgraded it to deluxe edition for free because the one I pledged was sold out. Holy shit, what a scam this is.
Aside from the """"deluxe"""" edition being basically the og game with a few screenprinted meeples sold at a premium, it came with gametrayz. Neat, I initially thought. But holy shit. People unironically pay for these flimsy pieces of shit plastic? It's not even a full step above these standard molded plastic inserts. I genuinely don't think throwing everything in ziplocks is any slower. Also, imagine my suprise that even the deluxe edition doesn't come with metal coins, that's something you'll have to buy extra ;^)

Are all deluxe versions such massive scams?

Ahhhh if only that were actually true. You need to know your opponents comboes choke points and how to recover from your opponents interactions and hand traps hitting your choke points with less than ideal resources, likewise how to play through your opponents reduced board states. >feel like it is straightforward from the get go
Not as much as you'd think. Learn the assist system, it's fundamental and yet plenty of players refuse to heed it and allow their defensive lines to get unraveled by just some mildly smart positioning. If you get the vidya it can be a good kicking off point, it does a lot of the work for you in the background though so reading the rulebook is very recommended to understand exactly what's going on. I'm in an online league that runs off BB2 myself, that's a ruleset more similar to BB2016 but legendary edition gives you all the teams and goes cheap during sales.
>>
>>97365071
>>97365252
BFG is quite interesting regarding army size and game duration. You got less units, but you got alot of weapons to fire. And there is a time when a squadron splits and suddenly the movements become units.

Thanks man. Unfortunately, I think they are one of those 'factions' that slips through the cracks. Most people into medieval wargaming are interested in western Europe, and if they aren't interested in western Europe, they are interested in the crusades, in which Byzantine forces played only a small role with the exception of the 4th and even that, not really. And if you like the early middle ages, then up to about the 7th C (just) you can just use the ubiquitous late Romans, with a little modification if you are really into accuracy.

It's a real shame, but not unsurprising - the market dictates what is made.
>>
>>97363434
>>97363829
I recently discovered that all Byzantine minis based on Osprey publishing books are wrong. They didn't wear a padded garment over armor, that's the researcher translating or interpreting evidence wrong. I believe V&V have the most up-to-date Byzantines. There's also a Russian guy that sculpts good Byzantines but I've forgotten his name.
>>
>>97364431
It’s not technically incorrect, it was just not the standard practice that older Osprey books made out - the quilted gambeson was called a νευρικόν, and the Taktika of Leo VI states that all soldiers should wear mail (λωρίκιον αλυσίδετον) UNLESS they could not afford it, in which case they could wear the νευρικόν alone (Leo VI, Taktika, Diataxeis 5-6).

>t. Wasted my life getting a PhD in Byz history.
>>
>>97364535
Or rather, I should say you are correct that they didn’t wear it over mail (which is commonsense really) - but they clearly did wear a quilted gambeson alone if they were poor enough.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

>everything seems to be about self-insert sjw bullshit and netflix tier romantasy railroading by DMs
tbdesu i used to think this way until giving old school games a try and playing a bunch more crpgs. in reality you can play something like 5e in an old school way just like you can play ose in a "new" school way. some people take to the pseudo mmo west marches style old school stuff, some people like the more on rails with feats and traits and whatever. i can see the merits in both styles even if i personally prefer running old school games because i like dungeon crawling more than being theater kids. if you're playing it with your friends then it'll be fun no matter what.
