Mages and wizards of /tg/, make your predictions for 2026! What will happen in the RPG-verse? Do it now before it happens!
I predict more copyright shitfuckery from WOTC, more neo-nazi bullshit from Judges Guild and eg Pundit, more not-5e slop like Draw Steel and MCDMRPG, and more incompetence from Paizo.Basically same old same old. I'm tired.
>>97274550>Basically same old same old. I'm tired.Best time in the year to try something new and different!talking genuinely here and not in the "gtfo then" sense
>>97274207Another OSR system will be released that people will make a big deal about. It will be B/X + some gimmick like "spells cost HP not spell slots?!?!?" It will not be worth playing. It will be forgotten within a month. The Fighter class will be called something stupid like "The Muscle."WoTC will do something woke and/or retarded. My divination is rusty, so idk what it will be, but there will be minimum 100 /pol/ tier threads about it by 2027. Draw Steel will trudge along, and people will continue to treat it like something special. Nothing of note will happen.I WILL move to the city and find a new IRL group.
>>97274207Over/under 4.5 primaris lieutenants? Personally, I think there will be 3 plus a few chapter kits. No xenos, 1 chaos kit.
>>97274207Consumer spending decrease continues. Dominant game companies (WotC, GW) get a bit desperate, continue to squeeze in retarded ways as various executive suites bail. Mid range companies get fucked hard, continue selling and going under. Boutique games hit peak saturation and fall off for a while. RPGs and wargames shift into increasing complexity again. Xrd edition reprints of whatever made money last time churn for a bit more. Kickstarter becomes less viable. Youtubers viability falls off, gets more intense for competition, generative slop takes a lot of them out. Crib or backgamon gets big again on tiktok.

There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. >>97274804Control's a choice word if you wanna get down to it. Can anyone control a fire? Despite what the fireman might say, they're not controlling it. Same principle applies with hellfire, though the effects are more serious. Naturally. >>97275018Hellfire only gets at the soul if it subsumes the corporeal. One just needs to be in touch with themselves. At a level most of us can't get to easily. You It sounds like you know how hard it is to a control both types of fires. That's the danger.
>>97275091You sound like some of the demon thralls we hunt.

>>97275106It's a fine line, I will admit. It's something I try not to use often but sometimes needs must and all that. Also like how else are you gonna kill a nemean? We couldn't strangle it and drowning takes too long.>>97275188It tends to be personal, when trying to learn, because the way it clicks tends to be different for each person. At least when it comes to using it seriously. If it's just accidental, it's like any sort of elemental magic with more malicious intent. You want whatever is troubling you gone. Permanently. It shouldn't come back and fire tends to be the most solid connections between the realms. Considering the emotions one might feel as well; it tends to, unsurprisingly, spring up when someone's doing fire magic. Once you've survived an accidental appearance, it becomes more a matter of recalling the feelings to get a better hold on the connection the caller made. Cross isn't exactly...wrong saying I sound like a thrall but actual research about hellfire is so hard to find. Demons don't give a shit beyond its destruction and warlock are so whiny about how I shouldn't cut them open.

>>97275145>painted over 2k worth of them>haven’t played a game with them besides spearhead matchesCan’t give you much gameplay wise; but model wise I can say they’re not nearly as hard to paint as people make them out to be. Lots of wide, flat surfaces. What is frustrating about them is the assembly design. It almost feels like the sprues were cut up to be intentionally more annoying than they need to be. Some subassemblies are possible but you’ll largely have most of the model assembled and be lucky to have 1 or 2 separate bits.

>>97272946Part of me kind of likes that Akina isn't that good at the game, he's just a lucksacking piece of shit because m i r a c l e s. In a world where magic exists and the MC just started playing the game up against professionals, I feel like that's almost more believable than him being an immediate savant like Chrono.
>>97274877Yeah I'm with this anon. His games ARE weak, but thematically it makes sense. He's a newcomer who can't realistically compete with skill, but not only is his deck a deck based around sacking but the writing acknowledges it and plays into it. He always plays towards maximizing his sack instead of them just coming out of nowhere.
>>97271969Deal with it because DivineZ is really bad about that and doesnt even try to address the problem that comes with the characters playing their mystical cards against regular people. At least G handwaved the whole Gear Chronicle thing by Chronos deck getting scanned and Mamoru was like "Huh well this is legit"Its at its worst when you reach Deluxe where the chuuni secret tournament aspect is dropped and all the Power Rangers are playing infront of hundreds of people against others that use normal cards.
>>97275078It makes him an interesting character among the other protagonists because he picks up the game only to achieve a practical goal and has to come to indentify his personal relationship with the game only afterward. It's so much more interesting than what we've gotten before.
>>97274877outside of halona and urara no one really use powers in D, michiru soul power do nothing at the end of the day>>97275176ignoring how bad od treat yuyu as a protagonist, not knowing if he can win or not make the games way more interesting, in this type of series you would never expect yuyu losing to shirogane in wd3 or tohya in od1 meanwhile in divinez i know that akina will miracle his way into victory
What kind of fantasy monsters are you into? I like original abominations, standard humanoids/mythological creatures/giant animals are boring to me.
>>97228517I like ghouls and dullahans(favorite undead), as well as mimics. I just think they're neat! I threw a mimic at my players the first campaign I DMed and all four of them said they had never actually encountered one before, and only one of them had encountered a gelatinous cube before I threw that at them.
>>97263052None, because this board isn't for talking about games. It's for everything that isn't a game.
>>97228517I like werewolves but they're rarely done in an interesting way. 99% of stories about them play out the same. Also furries.

How do you respond when your players choose to side with a character who is quite obviously, unapologetically evil and meant to be a villain? Typically, unless they leave behind evidence of their crimes, I'll usually let them follow the quest line along until they get killed or arrested somehow.

>>97272276>>97272336I for my part are somewhat interested int he cult, but having only dumbasses with pistols and baseball bats as your standard troops seems somewhat difficult.Ah, and a good 2026 to you all, anons.
So i briefly dipped my toe in the latest edition when Nemesis Claw came out but too many other games kept me busy but two things have gotten me interested and again and modern googles dogshit and keeps confusing editions.1: I was gifted a random box of Rubric Marines for christmas by a relative, never played any Thousand Sons in 40k. Are they usable in Kill team in this edition or is it just bespoke premade teams you select a few models from per match?2: Back in og kill team a normie friend who loved tyranids played with us when i bought and painted him the box that was just like 10 Genestealers, its his birthday in 3 weeks and i was looking at that recentish Tyranid box. Is that a deal like Nemesis Claw? Or can he use like three or those and some of his Genestealers for example? Also did my nurgle lads every come back or am i still sticking to Gellarpox?
Took about an hour just to clip all these parts off the sprue. I'm guessing it'll take another two to scrape off mouldlines. Definitely the least fun part of the process for me. I believe one of the sprues containing two longer wall sections was bent into a curve, which I'm hoping won't have a major effect on the final build or can be fixed.>>97274755No long range response options is a pretty rough handicap for sure. It lets your opponent take up some really aggressive positions, especially on high grounds. Plus chaos cult is, if I've understood things correctly, somewhat reliant on perfect distance management and some tricks that I can only equate to physics engine exploits to compete. The few times I've played against them it was just a matter of taking the objectives in ways they couldn't contest and eliminating any of the council + basic cultists, resulting in the rest having no ability to grab points afterwards. They can also get stonewalled by some teams that inflict to hit penalties in melee. But they're good shenanigans even so. Depending on what you find fun, they can give some fun results. And yeah, a good new year for the lot of us. A few hours in so far and nothing has gone horribly wrong yet.

I've been reading the Block Mania arc of Judge Dredd. Where soviet mind control makes each mega tower block fight each other including each blocks para-military citi-defence corps fighting for their block along side normal citizens.Judge Dredd as 80s British sci-fi fits 40k like a glove. The concept make a good scenario I think: A hive city is comes under Khorne influence somehow that makes them go full sectarian with the enforcers of each section throw open their armouries and arm hivers to battle other sections. The spireborne (as in Block Mania) have access to PDF equipment like Basilisks or rare heirloom weapons to exterminate the underhive. The players have to assist the Arbites in bringing the situation under control.>>97271389I spent NYE playing Call of Cthulhu but next game night is the continuation of my Black Crusade game and my Metal Gear Solid inspired Messia adventure.
