This.
Most women, when they aren't drunk on radfem koolaid, really like being cute, doing cute things, and having cute stuff.
Ask a random woman you are friendly with how many plushies she owns. 7/10 will have at least one.

>Ignoring games that don't have stories doesn't make it so games need stories.
Oh, sorry, did you want to have a discussion on backgammon? Or did you enter what is clearly a thread about tabletop RPG settings, and then throw a bitch fit because people want to talk about setting stuff for their games? You know exactly how much of an uncreative, unimaginative loser you are, that's why you've spent months coming into the threads to cry about them, Wilbur. Get over it.

Had several campaigns in a setting loosely inspired by Tekumel.

>mankind took to the stars in "seed ships"
>passengers are suspended in cryosleep
>ship AI autonmously searches for inhabitable planets
>purges natives via drones from orbit
>terraforms the planet according to human needs
>installs infrastructure for human utopia

On the campaign world the natives offered more resistance than expected and made the ship crash while it was still in the first phase. Autonomous drones still managed to bomb them into the stone age. Majority of the human cargo was killed in the crash and with the now defunct ship was unable to rebuild a high tech society while it was still being pestered by autonmous planetary defense systems. Games were set at different periods after the arrival. Humanity, AI and Alfarri (natives; sue me) have formed and sometimes intermingled in several different cultures.

This is like word for word 4e's Points of Light/Nentir Vale setting. Even including the zombies since the first 1-30 adventure path was about the demon prince of undeath trying to assassinate/absorb the goddess of death so he could control everything that ever dies.

>Barker wrote a sixth novel, Serpent's Walk, under the pseudonym Randolph D. Calverhall, an allusion to one of Barker's ancestors.[24][25][26] Serpent's Walk is a science fiction story,[27] presenting an alternate history in which SS soldiers begin an underground resistance after the end of World War II. A hundred years later, their descendants take over the United States of America.[28] The book's protagonist becomes the Führer and worldwide dictator of the Fourth Reich.[25] The book espouses the belief in an international Jewish conspiracy,[27] suggests the solution to the "Jewish question" is genocide, and extensively quotes Mein Kampf.[25] The novel was published in 1991 by National Vanguard Books, the book publishing division of the neo-Nazi group the National Alliance, which published white supremacist and neo-Nazi material including The Turner Diaries.[25][27][28]

Everyone I know who watches Fatt Coville videos is a fucking terrible GM. I've never fully watched one and I am widely considered the best GM out of all 3 groups I'm part of. I am regularly requested to run campaigns. People borderline fall asleep in the games others run. There's also no tension because they know that these Coville acolytes will fudge rolls until all PCs survive the battle.

If you're a good GM, it's an inmate talent you can hone over time. You're born that way. If you aren't, then no amount of shitty advice is going to make up for your lack of talent. It just is what it is. This idea that everyone should "try" DMing is retarded. The idea that anyone can be good at it? lolno. Its like some fat divorced on who suddenly decides he's gonna become a famous author. Fat chance. Most people fucking suck at GMing. Hell, most of them suck at playing, but at least in that case the game depends less on them.

I'm a different anon, but here's what I can think of:
1) The last enemy left, the last attack left him with only one HP, and the judge, for speed, declared the monster dead, thereby retroactively fudging his HD roll for that monster.
2) The random encounter roll revealed the lair of a red ancient dragon in a location where such a lair would be extremely illogical, and the judje fudged dice, causing either no encounter at all, or the ancient dragon is still there, but flying past somewhere very high in the sky.
3) The Judge messed up/forgot something, and the enemy attacked weaker than they could have, and in the next few rounds, judje fudges dices a little, to make monser become stronger compensate for the mistake, and vice versa, someone who was stronger than they already are becomes weaker than they already are for a few rounds to compensate for the mistake.
>>
>>97235163
Why not have the enemy in 1 surrender or attempt to flee rather than die for no reason? Creates a more interesting scenario

If a lair of a red ancient dragon would be illogical to roll, why have it on the roll table? It isn't a fudge to say the dragon isn't in its lair at all, but the lair is a dungeon of its own

That's an understandable reason

The great thing about middle-eastern scenery is that in rural parts it's basically just mud-brick sangars and the odd gaily painted caravanserai from the dark ages to present.

There are differences sure, but some basic block houses are close enough for jazz whatever the era.

Directed more at the other post if they ment like reset like MTG's
>magic's reset (rotation)
I have bad news for you. Turns out this shit doesn't work when the same design issues just come back in the next cycle. They've basically turned into a banlist managed format now and "waiting for the rotation" isn't viable. The system only sounds good on paper and doesn't translate in practice.
Fun fact: This year MTG standard is tied for the most banned cards in a year in it's history and people are feeling the need for more right now!
>>
>>97235093
>Turns out this shit doesn't work when the same design issues just come back in the next cycle.
You're right, but it does provide incentive not to indulge in power creep to sell cards, or at least makes it easier to avoid it. Nothing is stopping shitty cards from being printed regardless though, that's true. Even more so for Konami since I genuinely do not think Konami has any idea what the fuck they're doing half the time. It's easy to see the benefit in that system though, and while Magic has had other advantages card pool rotation has played a critical part in keeping its play more familiar and stable over 30 years, even if it's still changed.
>>
>>97234573
Mtg player here, standard has been on fire since 2019. mtg is suffering from the same issue yugioh has were every set needs to powercreep or it doesn't sell. it was only a few months ago where red decks were killing on turn two
>>
>>97235143
>but it does provide incentive not to indulge in power creep to sell cards, or at least makes it easier to avoid it.
Anon...
IfOnlyYouKnewHowBadThingReallyAre.png
>stable for over 30 years
If you've been out of the loop I hate to tell you this but standard is no longer their primary format despite what they might say, it's commander now. And with that comes card design for commander in every set now with an ever increasing power level, despite rotation. It's a growing problem in the last several (~5?) years and it's now reaching the frog-boiling temperature for many.
Rotation doesn't help irresponsible card design, in fact it probably makes it worse because you could hand wave busted cards with "well they'll only be around for a couple years". Oh did I mention that they increased the number of years rotation happens from 2 to 3 years?
Nobody in MTG looks at rotation as a method of solving anything important anymore, even before the time extension, because it's been recognized that it doesn't realistically work and now rather look forward to banlists. It was an incorrect assessment of the system people held for years and if you walked away while that was the case then here's your info update.

TLDR rotation was never actually what kept the game in check but rather it was responsible card design and people have revised their view on it as useless and now look towards banlists to solve issues.

Unlikely any other decks will be able to use this but Fluffymon and Pinamon are the two eggs with Bird traits that can hatch and then Digivolve (into another bird/avian)
Breeding area stuff is an underrated part of Green's toolbox and it's a lot of fun in Chronicle. Hopefully they keep it restricted while giving it to some of the other Green archetypes it would make sense in (Cherubimon!)

yeah having to run the avian/bird eggs instead of just using st17 gummymon (or even ex2 gummymon) is just a huge downgrade in power and the deck really benefits from a draw egg.

>You cheated not only the game, but yourself
It's literally what the game designers expect people to do.

I would like to talk about the Chronicles of Darkness game line Deviant: The Renegades, or more specifically, one major upcoming supplement. Deviant was released in late 2021, and has had three additional sourcebooks since then. A new supplement, Black Vans, has been in playtesting for a while, and is currently being previewed.

I am not being paid or sponsored to promote this book in any way. I am just very fascinated by it, and indeed, I already ran a mini-campaign using the playtest material.

Deviant is, by default, a game about playing angsty, scarred superheroes who either fight world-manipulating conspiracies or work for them. Black Vans is a toolkit full of variant rules, quick NPC creation, variant character types, and variant genres. These variants range from the minor to the dramatic, completely overhauling what were once non-negotiable, foundational themes and mechanics. Maybe your character is not angsty or scarred at all, perhaps they are a """""regular human""""" like John Wick or Batman, or the campaign might have nothing to do with world-manipulating conspiracies.

These variant genres include cyberpunk, high fantasy, post-apocalypse, space opera, and superhero emergence.

This is a beefy supplement. For example, one chapter alone dedicates 38,000+ words to playing other monsters of the Chronicles of Darkness: Beasts, changelings, demons, Sin-Eaters, hunters (entirely separate from the variant rules for """natural""" superpowers), mages, mummies, Prometheans, vampires, and werewolves. No additional supplements beyond Deviant are necessary; the rules are self-contained, allowing the group to play a monster mash of an urban fantasy setting without needing a daunting 7+ books. And yes, they are supposed to be balanced against one another, so a vampire in the same group as a full-fledged mage is probably some older Kindred.

>>
>>97235231
Sounds dumb. This isn't DND.
>>
>>97235283
If you pick the biggest conspiracy possible, all the characters are horrible, fucked-up Evangelion monsters constantly on the verge of collapsing into piles of radioactive gore and melting the entire planet into nanomachines and are only held together by love and hatred. It's Devilman, not D&D. The game doesn't actually want you to go bigger than SHOCKER.

Speed Edition.

This would would probably be something that could be expanded on if WoD wasn't afraid of cross splatting, but it's pretty restrictive and not exactly something I think Tremere need on top of having 15 different things making them unique. Would be pretty funny as thinblood alchemy ofr very advanced chimerstry or Vicissitude
Arguably I'd also you wouldn't have sufficient understanding of lupine nature without getting a spirit to inject some gnosis in you but that's just me making it harder than it needs to be.
>>
>>97234715
>Xe thinks the gang will hunt the woofs after D says they're fighting a noble cause but are just retarded
They'll resolve things semi-peacefully until Ross or some racist Garou shows up and they're in for it.
>>97234753
Honestly I know WoD5 is gay, but Stolen Moons are some cool shit, even if there was still skin dancing in oWoD though that only for kinfolk.
>>
>>97234870
I don't know how I gave you that impression. A hunter story where you only ever hunt one type of supernatural would get stale pretty quickly. Imagine Supernatural but they only ever hunt demons, or X-Files but it's all aliens and no other weird shit. Both would be significantly worse stories.

I even said in some of my posts the WtA things I liked, such as the Fomori showcased in the last episode and the Pentex suit guy coming off well. I can criticize the execution of something I like in theory. While on the tabletop side, yeah, VtM has isolationist tendencies because honestly the rest of oWoD doesn't often line up with it in terms of theme, tone, or really most things. But that's irrelevant for a Hunter story. Whether or not HTP will fall over itself trying to accommodate SpeakerD's very specific idea of what WoD "should" be is another question entirely.

>>97235097
>They'll resolve things semi-peacefully until

That'd be worse. Actually allying with the werewolves more or less leaves our heroes holding their dicks and being secondary. It's an annoying thing actually, Werewolves, on paper at least, do everything Hunters do better. You don't want your protags to feel overshadowed in the actual hunting by a bunch of fuckheads you just met five minutes ago. I really hope it doesn't go that route. I'm also not sure I agree with your reading. D was upset that the werewolves once again forced their hands and now they have to fight them. I think the winning play is pretty clear actually, let Pentex and the Werewolves kill each other, then mop up the survivors. I'm sure the Fraudulent Wonder himself will find a way to fuck it up though.
>>
>>97235147
>Werewolves do everything Hunters do better
Everyone does, except for Vampires getting fucked during the day. If I had to say the werewolf downside is being pre-disposed to going into a Frenzy dealing with Wyrm assets which sort of hampers longer investigations. I don't think the Garou are going to take over the Regent hunt, but at least they won't be antagonistic. If it's W5 focused too, Garou, especially those in smaller septs or packs, don't have the numbers to do the same type of suicide charges into Pentex facilities instead of managing their territory from rogue spirits, edgy wolves, and pentex encroachment.
>Letting Pentex and the Werewolves kill each other
I think this is a bit too nihilistic of an approach for D and more something Kitten would advocate for because Markus > everything else. D is kind of a compassionate character at the end of the day outside of cases of clear self-defense or evil, though I do think he will fuck up in the second half of this act. The problem is the writers can't make D a jobber who only takes losses and expect us to take him seriously, so I think we'll actually see him be competent for once. Maybe not win everything exactly though. I can see a lot of anons perspective that splat jumping this fast to Werewolves, which become protagonists or hard antagonists because of how overpowered they are, but I can kind of see why it comes off as VtM fans malding because they want more Vampires. I think more so they wrote themselves into a corner introducing the werewolves too quickly and there isn't enough room left in the story to treat them like the Sabbat gang and still be satisfying. Clearly Pentex is presented more as the real antagonist and the Wolves seem more like a third party, though Matilda having a crash out the way she did probably doesn't help. I think the most optimal way they can move the story from here is the werewolves occasionally have chapters against Pentex while the main focus is the D gang.

To follow up from this, another problem is that there's no way the Regent is holding hands with anything more than Mages, so the upcoming changeling arc has to happen completely independently from her which slows the story to a crawl, or we get a resolution to her next arc which would be too fast. Alternatively, it could be
>Vampire, Werewolf, then Mage
And we still get to cover the Regent antagonist arc we're focusing on while also keeping Markus in the party assuming he becomes a Mage. Him, Boy, and D are weirdly a lot more developed in a supernatural sense than Kitten and Door. I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this, since it's hardly hunter if your leader character is clearly not human, and you have a Mage, and whatever Boy is (werewolf, if we're following the foreshadowing and Ogre isn't retarded or subversive). On the other hand, HtP is a lot more of a WoD lore exploration with some excellent character work than it is a Hunter story. I suppose I mean that the characters rarely interact in a mundane sense with real character struggles and except for Boy they're already on the deep end of the Hunter pool in terms of chasing out hunts because that's what they do rather than what they're forced to. I don't think having a WtA arc was necessarily a problem, though it's quickly proving itself difficult for the team to navigate partly because of riding chapter ambitions and some slow releases making Werewolves seem like the main character/Namekians than the arc's hunt. These guys definitely couldn't hunt a full pack of Werewolves without some much higher firepower and Pentex is oozing off antagonist vibes.

>what about cool shit that can be done with fire magic
Magical flames that enchant shit cooked/forged/tempered/blown/alchemically prepared in them. Purifying flames. Rapid corrosion. Rapid oxygen consumption. Floor is lava. Plasma cutter. Flames as a medium for scrying. Fire constructs. Flashbangs. Napalm. Bombs. Lasers. Melting shit. Heating shit. Xianxia body tempering. Glassing the ground to fuck with the terrain either shooting for a smooth polish or razor sharp edges everywhere. Plasma railgun. Forest deletion. Smoke concealment. Become smoke. Become fire. Become magma. Combustion engines. Jet propulsion. Fire walls. Buffing coldblooded forces. Cooking things alive unnoticed with temperature manipulation. Mirages. Holy fire.

A reminder that not all flames are clearly visible.

How would you write interesting gods, well in this case, false gods who took the mantle after the true god left/died/vanished (Anyone who played dominions, you can probably see where this is going)

Mages, ancient kings or monsters that have found the means to become a god through magic or other means, some are fine or harmless as they only worship in own little village like a mini cult leader, some maybe even benevolent but most half gone mad or just out right evil (as in cursing entire regions because they felt it was amusing or out of the most pettiest of reasons)

So it up for regular joes set off on a impossible quest to slay them, it going to be set in a ancient world so mainly bronze and some iron and rarely steel and cultures being early ancient rome, celts, norse and maybe even some egyptian if things go well. I'm still working on a map mind you lot

But my goal is gods right now, any suggestions or tips, crazier and more bullshitty the better these aren't just 'oh god of thunder that all he does is thunder' I got these little ideas in mind rn that I can't explain but it for a rough example it's type that would throw a spear across a continent and striking you in the chest and curse your whole bloodline for even mentioning you hate him type of god
