So I'm making my setting for my Beyond the Wall game, and I'm just curious what do you guys use for inspiration. Myself, lots of Conan, Tolkien (not dunedain, rohirim, the orcs) Dominion 6 (my principal inspiration at the moment), lots of real world folklore, tales and stuff (like the Narts, Spanish folklore, Tibetan bon) and this or that stuff of different books (I love tribal stuff and making tribes inspired in different stuff, like I have a tribe of skinners than wear the pels of the Tribe of the wolf, wich are locked in cosntant war in the not-siberia).
But what about you guys, what are you using? Anyone has a good recomendation for tribal stuff, or resources to make a city-state/tribe/village adventures?

Different anon, but I like.

MA Phaecea. African Phoenician giants with sailing, and big elemental magic.

EA Sauromatia. Lizard riding Amazons with death and nature magic.Led by man eating shamans.

LA Marignon. Renaissance era Spain, but if the Catholic faith fused with the devil worship. Lots of cool summons and good magic diversity.

Not even him, I love Pyrene, Mekon, agartha, abyssia,Ermor, suaromatia and Therodos.
Agarthans are just a very cool monster race, teh abissians are extremely tragic, Ermor is the Roman empire, but necromancers, the telkhines and the way they destroy they pop is tragic also, Pyrene goes from high fantasy cool giants to an aquelarre to be ruled be cambion/sucubi, and Mekone is the worse of them all, Hyperborean Giants than fail to destroy the gods, and turn extremely ugly, all peppered be a great mass of human slaves and even cyclops.

The "ÆGYPT - Playground Of The Gods" supplement for Zenobia.

https://www.zozergames.com/fantasy-rpgs.html
>>
>>96494347
Not him, but much appreciated. What do we need to know going into the system?
>>
>>96495466
Zenobia is pretty easy system to grasp. Gritty historical sword & low magic sorcery in Roman Middle-East during the crisis of third century in a somewhat fictionalized more fantastical history. It is naturally most enjoyable if players are interested in the time period.

Itt we help each other find a system that fits given setting.

I'm looking for something fitting Blue Archive lore. Expectation:
>combat-focused
>handles gunfights well
>has cover system
>hitzones unwelcome
>crits should do extra damage, but no additional effects
>can handle vehicles, combat robots, artillery
>can handle big bosses
>allows for some gun autism
>no magic
One guy suggestes using Cyberpunk 2020, but I think it's a bad idea.

Savage Worlds has a SF splat that allows for space opera, and Flash Gordon has a dedicated splat for the adventurer edition.
Sixty Mile Sky does space opera with mechs, but it is less swashbuckling and more Conan in terms of grit.
And the standbys of Traveller, Rogue Trader, and Stars Without Number.

Where does the idea that the Imperial Guard are elite come from? Some of their regiments are literally recruited from Feudal Worlds where the local have never even seen a lasgun before. A good chunk of the regiments are noted for using primitive tactics including WW1 tactics, Napoleonic style warfare, and even pre-historic barbarian savagery. Their lascannons and flak armor might be good by today's standards but they're not good by the setting's standards, they're not even good by the Imperium's, and everybody else has the armor or toughness that makes the lasgun utterly inadequate. Pretty much every conflict of note ends up requiring Space Marines to pull them through, even conflicts against the fucking Tau which are like 1/1000000th the size of the Imperium.

Conscription drives can be so brutally extreme that planets are rendered unable to perform their normal tithe duties. Then the governor gets blamed for it and executed when the tithe comes due.
>>
>>96497345
Yeah, just like real life.
>>
>>96497335
Of course they can do that depending on the nature of the conflict but while things are manageable they prefer not to. Remember whiteshield conscripts use to be a seperate statblock that relied on shit stats but ridiculous amounts of models as opposed to the actual professional infantry squad. The camera might be on the zones like Armageddon where it's an apocalyptic battle but the bread and butter of the guard isn't even fighting the named Xenos, it's usually human v human conflict putting down uprisings, secessionist movements, uppity ecclesiarchy officials who feel like wiping out a civilised world fkr perceived heresy and other renegades of which they usually are quite competant at and don't need to resort to press gangs of quastionable quality. It's when you start fighting giant green apes that things get desperate and now you need to put a gun In little Timmy's hands real quick because it isn't two human opponants of military age fighting but an existential conflict
>>
>>96497388
Nice headcanon.
>>
>>96497351
real life WW2 conscription in the US was actually meant to provide a trickle of manpower by having X men in the draft pool called up to service every month
in order to prevent volunteers from swamping training infrastructure in massive droves after news from the front hits home

conscription let them tightly control intake so that it would match training capacity while commanders at the front could more easily deal with replacement, a steady stream of well-trained troops, instead of sudden bursts of troops who may or may not be up to standard

With the adoption of a West Marches format, which comes with a bit of an air of lethality and a new DM that's not afraid to let the hockey gloves hit the ice it's bound to be a more engaging experience than S3 was. That was dogshit.

I have nothing against critical role, but i still find it crazy so many people watch 50+ episodes of a like 5 hour show
>>
>>96497416
Not to be a pedant, but I'd hesitate to call campaign 4 a "proper" West Marches game. The preset groups alone disqualify it, and given that there's a group focusing on the "political intrigue" aspect, I doubt some of those fuckers are even going to be doing much marching

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started.

Used this map tonight. The PCs delved into a hidden temple beneath the library of Ghendarthic Engravings deep in the swamp near their hometown. They hoped to find a watersource that could enhance their magic. Indeed they found such a thing but only after fighting a shit ton of slimy orcs and their mage masters. It was a bloody running battle and some of their henchmen nearly perished. I inherited a level 8 campaign from a DM who needed a sabbatical and I have to tell you mid level play OSE is pretty fun. The Wizard dove into the pool headfirst and is now being tutored by a tentacle monster.

Next session is going to be a tussle with some giant ants using a map I posted earlier. I love Dysonlogos.

Damn. You're a blessing for making such a list, anon.
Now what's the best way to get people to try alternative games to GW games after making both opposing forces for said wargame?
>>
>>96494387
>best way
i forget the saying but finding the right opponents is like half the battle in wargaming. even if you're playing GW which has a lot you want these people to be fun to play against, buddies if you will.
finding/building a community is difficult, people are a herd so it pays to have some like minded people to start with. fucking my local crew started with like 10 people playing one game then hit like 40.
also it pays to put extra work in, if you can show a lot of passion it will draw the eye and help you stand out.

But fastest way is to have social skills and consider your environment.
if you're in a more urban place with a lot of artists you could have a conversion heavy game take off if it doesn't already exist
hunt down local communities first.
if you're literally the only person, then generally have a friend who wants to play it first, people are most interested that ways. they can come by, see you having fun and want to join in.
another method is setting up a group for it, via the messaging App of your choice, set up a demo gram with your LGS (or join a club)
my local sore has a lot of AWG players, we've got people playing Saga, bolt action, forbidden psalm, and a bunch of smaller things.
there's a lot of people, i've met many of the people who play epic in my city whilst playing other games.
i always suggest skirmish first, it's lower effort, lower commitment and allows people to engage in self expression first but it really depends on where you live.

[Magic the Gathering: Duskmourn - House of Horror redux]

>Previously: https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/96461412/#96478223

She saw it all coming, of course. Her power to shape fate is supposed to be limited in scope beyond her own destiny, aligned with small scale events, but it is impossible not to notice my arrival bending all outcomes around itself like an event horizon swallowing up a solar system. Oh, how she tugged and twisted at the possibilities, trying fruitlessly to stop what she perceived as a nightmare.

But I myself am born of Fate, thrice over. Once from the Norns, once by the grace of Samsara, and once from Ananke.

All she accomplished was obtaining my interest. Itself a greater feat than she could accomplish. I watched her dimly grasp at the impenetrable barrier of a compleated timeline. Stayed my hand as she tracked my path of conquest through a more easily observed target's fate: Avacyn. She watched Avacyn drive the Eldrazi with spear of light and flail of flame into a gaping singularity of the Deep. She saw the angel weep as she overlooked entire planes roaring to senescence as they found themselves endowed with machine-god bodies, even as she herself spread oil across worlds yet to have their own Planeswarden grafted into existence.

She was with Avacyn as she hovered lonesomely over a still, biomechanical multiverse. Burdened with the certain knowledge this truly was all for the best.

When I finally made contact with her, she begs me over and over to consider alternatives. She promises to devote herself to my vision of perfection if I do nothing further to revert Phyrexia after, bereft of it's master, it is consumed for Weatherlight fuel. She asks me why I saved the angel only to scour the world.

To her surprise, I agree. I tell her that all she has seen is but one solution, and I am willing to consider another before enacting THE solution across all possibilities.

That's why she's here now, on the strange and savage plane known as Tarkir, watching an errant example of why I acted against the meaningless cycles of suffering in this world. Avacyn's comforting hand a silent promise of protection on her shoulder that she returns, the wounded comforting the wounded while around them monsters (and a bunch of squirrels) bay for blood.

"I'm destined to be trapped in the Meditation Realm" she explained to the others, "so I can't follow you in. I'll deal with Sarkhan and the other walkers"

"Very well" said Avacyn. "Valgavoth. You will ensure no harm comes to her, and reinforce her designs. Deeznuts will run interference with the clans, de-escalating them". The "agent" nodded, threw down a smoke bomb, and suddenly an empty trenchcoat was flopping to the ground while there was rustling in the grass, in every direction.

Don't think about it, she mouthed at the visibly confused angel.

"A sound stratagem!" exclaimed the demon, rubbing his forelimbs together eagerly. "This one has a gift for weaving both cocoons and possibilities! She was a most worthy adversary, I cannot even BEGIN to imagine what she must be like as an ally..."

"Can you just focus on the mission?" she protested. "Yes, yes, of course, my little ones are tracking the dragons as we speak" chuckled the demon, eerily in tune with her as both of them cast out their abilities. It appals her how in synch they are, the demon's flagrant aura of fear and worst case scenarios providing as a camouflage and a causal for her more subtle machination. Spooky and calamitous (yet broadly positive) outcomes reached out to shape events in Tarkir, giving her room to provide more finesse.

"As for you, Shry, you're with me" ordered Avacyn.

Two major possibilities unfurled before her, as the Elder Dragons reeled against nightmares of defeat by humanoids again and cellarspawn feted the clan leaders with promises of untold power from beyond their world. In the first, they cut off the serpent's head. Thwarted the planeswalker at the epicentre of all this, bound him, stilled him with words of power-and brought him low. Leaving his pursuers and former friends into confused conflict towards the Mediation Realm's crisis.

"I really do admire your work, you know" said Valgavoth, twitching with anticipation. "Your power is unprecedented. Unprecedented! For all our foes' might, they have nothing to countermand such elegant manipulation"

In the second, they dealt with the pursuers one by one. Convincing, disarming, banishing. And in exchange, they risked Sarkhan and Taigam succeeding in their quest to turn Sarkhan into a sentient Dragonstorm-spewing forth parodies of dragons on every plane.

"...so erm, whenever you're ready, I AM hoping we can cooperate to make something beautiful here" babbled the demon.

They weren't the only solutions. But the others involved either letting Jace's meddling go unabated, or letting one of the demons subsume more of this plane with their essence. Neither was palatable.

"Narset knows the most about what is at stake. We start with her" she said. "Ah yes, the weak link" breathed Valgavoth.

A trivial distraction. A stampede of hatchlings cut off Narset from her compatriots, allowing Valgavoth to weave a vision around her: A vision in which they had time to explain the fullness of what was at stake.

That left Elspeth. Against the demon's protests that as the most dangerous of the trio, she should have been corrupted, Aminatou insisted she at least meet in good faith with the company now they were heatedly debating what they had just seen. She explained her cause, entreated their aid in stopping Sarkhan, made clear Jace had no part in this-and omitted the demon's presence, lurking at the edges of their conspiracy.

Elspeth was taken aback enough by the whole debacle without having to account for an actual redeemed demon, and unwilling to overlook an earnest little girl with fate powers quickly agreed to prepare instead of charging ahead.

"ON ALL LEVELS EXCEPT THE PHYSICAL" Sarkhan was screaming into the Blind Eternities, "I AM A DRAGON. EVERYONE WILL HAVE DRAGONS IN THEIR BACKYARD, AND EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY!"

"Sarkhan, you have to stop this madness!" shouted Aminatou as the outraged Planeswalker swatted at the other free with winds of dragon-infused tempestuous magic. A few causal strings snapped were all it took to unravel the storm-while Valgavoth webbed Taigam to the ground, prone. "You are not a real dragon! You have no wings, you have no fiery breath, you don't even lay eggs! You are a living time paradox twisted by uncontrollable mana into a parody of draconic perfection!"

"NEVER!!!" he bellowed, forcing wide the Omenpaths with all the dragon energy at his disposal-which also made nudging his fate harder, much harder. The raw magical power she was unravelling simply churned onwards like a tide beating back a sand castle, and yet she scribbled away desperately.

Valgavoth cleared his throat. "AHEM. Planar Expansion: Predatory Cocoon Estate!"

And suddenly, strands of silk and floorboards were erupting from him, in all directions, forming a rickshaw pocket reality around the surprised Sarkhan that looked like Escher had drawn a Scooby Doo episode.

The very spirit of an entire plane's era! Summoned and manifested in a different plane like a Planeswalker's minion! For a minute, the rage of Sarkhan beat back the Planar Expansion in a stalemate.

Then suddenly he stopped. In the blink of an eye, Sarkhan found himself in Tarkir as he'd always imagined it: A noble land ruled by noble dragons, himself counted as one of them. His broodmates cheered on his flashy flight path, and Atarka herself acknowledged his strength. And so, Sarkhan just...let go.

"I didn't even know magic was possible" confessed Aminatou, later. "You...you changed the future. You saved this plane"

"You do yourself a disservice, girl!" chortled Valgavoth. "Manifesting a dream of that calibre required GREAT concentration, one only made possible by your causal interference. As I divined, we make a GREAT team!"

"We do" she finally acknowledged. "Thank you. I couldn't have saved this plane without you. I...didn't think you'd actually try"

Valgavoth sighed. "I understand your mistrust. I certainly can't deny taking wicked glee in" he said, waving a hand vaguely at the both the brood leaders and clan chiefs running around screaming as their own incarnate fears forcibly united them in desperation "the methods I use here"

"Do you really think it's possible to use evil methods for good, Valgavoth? There were other ways. Less risky ways. To resolve this"

Anyone else have an anycubic m7 that their having issues with? Had it for a while and lately it's not able to print the same level of detail or model in general that it used to. Tried re-leveling it, changing settings, changing to the standard resin v2 but nothing seems to work.

>This was discovered if I rightly recall by Shas reading the brews and recognizing his own shit word for word.
It gets funnier. Shas is shit at proofreading, so he will have a lot of typos. He'll usually update a few days later if people point it out. In this case, the guy copied an earlier version of material with a bunch of typos that Shas fixed, and that's how /tg/ realized he was copying people.

Have someone ever made Deathwatch rpg homebrew for the Hunter and Stalker tank?

Trying to decide what 'early' PF would look like for a new RT dynasty. Here's your warrant, noble acolyte of the inquisition, here's your ship, fuck off. A handful of manufactories on a hive world from whoever arranged the warrant? A hold full of gemstones and a list of pawnbrokers between Terra and the expanse? A pocket full of lies about your wealth and how this contract definitely is valid? Some of them have built in funds, I guess - ones where you're told to conquer this planet, or take X to X, or whatever, but I'm trying to think of things for the others. Ideas?

Working on some options to make the Reliquary equipment doctrine in Shield of Humanity feel less boring. Do all these effects feel roughly equal in power?

Any ideas for putting together a professional-looking Slaanesh traitor guard regiment that doesn’t fall into meme territory or just “horny” aesthetics? I’m aiming for something closer to the Moebian 6th vibe, disciplined and militarized.

Related question: could a Slaanesh-aligned obsession take the form of 'liberation'? As in an obsession with the act of liberating oppressed people from the Imperium like a twisted version of the Raven Guard's beliefs?

Greetings anon. Today I have made for you a thread for the creation of a Renegade Space Marine Chapter.

Hope it’s fun

https://2d4chan.org/wiki/Renegade_Space_Marine_Chapter_Creation_Table

First come first serve as usual, although discussion is both encouraged and welcome!
——

Our Chapter no longer serves the Imperium, having gone rogue for our own reasons. Importantly, we do NOT serve the Powers of Chaos!

First up, from what Legion do we derive our geneseed? Who is our Progenitor?

>Assault Marine

Our Chapter no longer fields separate detachments of Assault Marines for one reason or another. Interesting.

Could this be due to a relevant lack of gear?

>Artificer Armor

This is sensible enough. Artificer Armor is precious even for normal Chapters. As Renegades we likely have lost suits with the marines who wore them. Sad but likely inevitable….

But all is not lost! For in our exile we have found some goodies of our own.

>Warp-Tainted Weapons: Despite the inherent dangers, this chapter makes use of weapons tainted by the warp, imbuing them with powers, however unstable they may be.

Our Chapter has made the decision to make use of Chaos-tainted weaponry and artifacts. This has a history of ending….poorly, but the Relictors pulled that off right? We can handle a few Daemonblades…probably

1d10 for current strength of Chapter

>Outside of official settings there is zero reason to actually buy cards
So basically there IS a legitimate reason to own cards, but also there isn't one. You're fucking stupid.

Some people just like collecting them too, resellers aren't even human so they don't count.
>Basically just print on card stock and sleeve the card.
Which is a LOT more expensive, as a quality orica can end up costing significantly more unless the card you want is $60+, there's no point on making replicas of official cards worth cents. Buying a quality printer and making the proxies yourself is also expensive.
>euros
/dng/ troon confirmed
>80 yuros on a petdeck
Petdecks cost literal pennies because they're shit, i built psychic pile last week and i paid $20 for it (rising scale was $5, ultimate axon kicker was $9).
>Why would you spend £85 on a d tier pet deck to play with randoms or friends?
Because it can be fun? Not everyone is a morbidly obese, diaper wearing tranny who can't even look at himself in the mirror, let alone go outside to play card games with strangers.

Yeah you done fucked up if that's the case. I would just own up to it next time you see them maybe. If the chain was:
>CL1 (their monster)
>CL2 Imperm
>CL3 Droplet, send imperm for cost
Then imperm wouldn't be on field to meet the condition on itself to get that negate the column's S/T at res. and thus not negate whatever that floodgate was.

I've been out of the meta a long time, when/why did Lunalight just completely drop Tri-Brigade? Last time I checked every decklist was like 50% Tri, now I never see more than a single Fraktall. Is the new support good enough that they're just not needed anymore?

Yes, masquerade (and fraktall) can foolish the card that searches your 1-card combo and also lets you "cheat" out fusions by banishing shit from the GY, which isn't even a cost. You have 3 copies of ROTA in tenki. You can finally search perfume. The deck is actually incredibly consistent nowadays, but it kneels to droll.

At my wits end with the torrential downpour of baby blue femboy tieflings in my games. To heal the world I made a table to create fucked up tieflings. Roll and let me know what you get. tiefling hate thread otherwise

That pic just makes me think of a PF1e Tiefling that got the "can wield weapons 1 size larger without penalty" perk.
