They mostly take people in desperate situations and trade off favours. There's mention of long-term arrangements/covenants, where a survivor is invested with power in exchange for a long-term partnership. Going by the cards, they feed on the survivors themselves or receive blood sacrifices in exchange for their support. No sign of old-fashioned written contracts, it seems all they run on is a handshake, drop of blood and a promise.

For context, I'm wondering what Adyseach might request in exchange for temporary companionship and ten years worth of knowledge from him, if I don't want to actually offer him a ticket off of Duskmourn.
Maybe 200cp's worth of jumper power is enough to pay off the whole debt, since that's what it costs to take him as a companion by default. To something planebound like Adyseach, 200cp's worth of power might be an equivalent exchange in its own right.

Just wary about making deals with demons, you know?

You see how this special rule specifically contradicts the normal situation of models which join units neither conferring nor receiving special rules?

how it's very specific about that?

>Note that in all cases a Special Rule overrides a Rule - meaning that if the Rules state one thing, but a Special Rule contradicts them, then the special rule is followed where applicable.
>p325

so either you show me the part of Infiltrate (X) is conferred onto Models which don't have Infiltrate (X) when they join the Unit, or you show me the part where Cumlad Cooze's special rule specifically confers Infiltrate (X) onto him, or you have no incidence of a Special Rule overriding the Rules on Deployment, joining a Unit, or the applicability of Special Rules to Models which join Units and vice versa

fucking mong
>>
>>96465797
>how it's very specific about that?
I see how it specifically states 'all models in that unit gain Hatred (Traitor)' and is identically worded to the way >>96464017 says 'all models in Terror Squad units gain Infiltrate (12)', so why you think these two rules worded exactly the same way don't interact exactly the same way, granting ALL MODELS in the unit the ability.
Notice Sedras also doesn't have Hatred (Traitor) are you going to argue Sedras doesn't give himself Hatred (Traitor) despite him now counting as one of the models in the unit upon joining it? Same logic applies here pretty clearly.

>What this thread isn’t for:
Alternative ideas for what 4th edition could include, such as alternating activations, new unit ports, etc. This is a Stage 4 process and so there's plenty of time for that later on.
Don't engage edition warriors, trolls and rule revisionists. We're trying to keep it tight; mannered and objective focused.

BATTLE PLAN:
Stage 1:Finish revising and formatting the SRD.
Stage 2:Compile all GW official erratas into the SRD.
Stage 3: Condense all the codices into up to date SRD. - pending
Stage 4: Make a Hobby Enthusiast supplement for the SRD.
Stage 4: Make an Optional Rules supplement for the SRD.

I think in addition to the actual problems with the core rules, dislike for 5th gets - justifiably IMO - amplified in groggy circles because it's also the edition that began GW's modern embrace of named characters. They had tried mostly dropping the "opponent's permission" prohibition on specials already, but the community largely continued to enforce it themselves, and 5th was GW saying
>Oh you won't get on board of your own accord? Fine you ungrateful fucks, now all your subfactions fun flavour rules are tied to a specific dude, howdya like dem apples piggies?

That’s a good point. While I don’t mind the mini heroes like the totally not Rambo characters, I don’t wanna see Calgar in every game. I’m not super well versed in 3rd ed but I do know that in the core rules it mandated that you ask about special characters. They took that out in 4th Ed and it’s one of the only changes I can think of that is for the worse.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCWeyYro1FI
>flashing a symbol so evil that vampires are hurt by it

I hate the secularization of vampires so I wanted to make my twist on vampires so I modified VTM to fit a different lore.

Only Christians or people aligned with Christianity can become vampires. If a non-Christian especially an atheist gets embraced, they become a mindless vampire beast. Crosses work on amplifying Christian guilt. This doesn't work if the user of the cross isn't Christian with faith. The reasoning is the curse is meant to corrupt Christians and lure people away from God. This also leads to people blaming Christianity for the vampires.
>>
>>96453156
>vampires are not actually weak to any holy symbol
>they do recoil at the name of Christ and are revolted by the presence of religious paraphernalia.
>the idea that they are weakened by faith is more attributed to the idea that it takes colossal conviction and faith to even consider challenging such a monster.
I hate the “you need faith for your holy symbol to work” idea as if just being very convicted puts stronger energy into an otherwise dead and mundane holy symbol. If that were the case then belief itself would be powerful enough without a cross to channel it. I personally like
>can’t cross water
>counting grains of rice
>hates garlic
>destroyed by sunlight

Faith isn’t something that should be reliably measured since it is literally the idea that you believe in something regardless of all contrary evidence. Giving that a score is completely counterintuitive.

Bumping inactive threads is normal, the problem is that on /tg/ there's one specific guy who's spent years doing it constantly in the same types of threads, never accepts that threads should die naturally when the discussion is over, and he never attempts to actually discuss anything himself because he only cares about keeping his pet threads on the board.

There's three threads up right now where the OP happened to include one of bumpfag's trigger words ("element", in this case) and he took that as an invitation to necrobump them for weeks. You'll notice that all of his threads usually get bumped around the same time of day with similar zero-effort bullshit posts for the sole purpose of keeping them from expiring naturally.
>>96314431
>>96315518
>>96422465
That last thread is mostly actual discussion at the moment because it's only a few days old, but when people run out of worthwhile content he'll still keep bumping it for the next month.
>>
>>96465617
It could also be AI training using a bot to keep the thread alive. If that is the case, then it makes simple prompts and logs the presumably human responses and discussions. All it would need to do is disregard its own bumps from the dataset.
>>
>>96465694
NTA but is it actually that big of an issue if, as you say, noonr but the bumpfag is in the thread anyway?
Won't new threads and people posting on the newer threads fix things naturally?
>>
>>96465437
antibumpfags just use bumpfaggotry as a cudgel to attack what they actually hate: people making threads about personal settings or general fantasy and scifi concepts or tropes outside of established settings or games
I have no skin in the "debate" myself though since I don't read those and am just here for /mtg/ and /acg/, just what I've seen
>>
>>96465684
>ah I get it, so bumpfags are ostensibly the OPs keeping their own threads alive?
A common and obvious theory as to who is doing it, but one that I can disprove from experience because I've made threads only to have them kept alive against my will by bumpfag posting.

> That being said, I've literally never seen any board have people that complain about that except on here.
/tg/ has a higher degree of autism than a lot of boards, we are better at pattern recognition so bumpfag posts stick out like a sore thumb

Why did they fumble making a good licensed AtLA TTRPGame? The setting was perfect for it.

>Having played this and DungeonWorld immediately after, I'm firmly in the "PBTA is shit" camp.
Dungeon World, as its name suggests, is an incredibly shit implementation of PbtA. PbtA is good at player-driven stories with potential intra-group conflict, not dungeon diving with a party. The problem is that it's relatively simple to make a PbtA hack so they're mostly dross by people who don't understand its basic design.

>if there's no listed roll-failure effect, does nothing happen or are we obligated to make up our own?
Case in point. Never played or looked at the ATLA RPG, but this is a very basic part of the Apocalypse World structure: on a miss, make as hard and direct a move as you like. In AW, there's a list of MC moves:
• Separate them.
• Capture someone.
• Put someone in a spot.
• Trade harm for harm (as established).
• Announce off-screen badness.
• Announce future badness.
• Inflict harm (as established).
• Take away their stuff.
• Make them buy.

>Never played or looked at the ATLA RPG
As someone who has (and isn't that Anon you're responding to), I'll tell you that it does. The GM moves are as follows:
>Inflict fatigue or a condition
>Reveal a hidden truth
>Shift their balance
>Twist loyalties with tempting offers
>Escalate to violence
>Offer a risky or costly opportunity
>Threaten someone
>Shift the odds, suddenly
>Exploit a weakness in their history
>Provide wisdom in unlikely places
>Turn a move back on them
And in addition to this, each different era that you can play in comes with a page that discusses the themes of that time period, and provides additional GM moves that are thematically appropriate to the progress and struggles of those times.
>>
>>96460985
>"My GM was a useless shit who didn't know what to do!"

Adding onto >>96465559, a GM technically has the 11 GM moves that are always available, plus each era gives them 15-18 more. If your GM has approaching 30 options for what to do, and they can't pick one, that's your fucking GM's fault.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started.

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

I've been thinking a lot about the red economy but I'm not sure if I actually posted anything. Going Metal makes borging seem easy and gives an idea of what the actual 2045 economy is like. There are enough FBCs in Night City to have developed their own culture since 2020 (when FBC was just gear, now it's Harley Davidson), and some boosterganger boss is able to casually drop 30,000eb to get an FBC. Also Gemini and Alphas (aka skinless Gemini) are considered expensive (the 100eb price category despite being x100 that) so anyone can source one without paying a fixer (but it's interesting that the biopod essentially costs 12,000eb and always requires a mega fixer/midnight market). Perhaps this random party gonk is a hardened boss because they get unlimited cyberware funding (according to Danger Gal NPC guide). Also the Gemini's lore has them being so ubiquitous that many FBC just add them to their collections, implying a closet of FBC that could cost dozens of Fort Knox level runs (but again in the core rulebook a 2000eb job is called a suicide run but quite a few of the bunny slope jobs in TotR pay that much).

Red in 2045 seems more like Fallout New Vegas (I haven't played anything past that) where people have money but nobody wants to spend it on infrastructure so you have power armor goons, a clinic that can implant cyberware, robot armies, random wasteland junkies with military grade laser weapons... But not one paved road.

tl;dr I think the gutterpunk angle Mike wanted was quickly scraped when he left. It's really hard to keep using it as a frame of reference when everything else in the lore contradicts it.
>>
>>96465340
I truly am not sure if cyberpunk is made for high level characters it truly seems like its mostly grunt level play.
>>
>>96465470
If you're the ref, you can homebrew payouts and progression to boost your players to whatever level you want. If you're doing high-level fixer gigs from big-name corpos, maybe they don't mind dropping 20k eddies spread between a group of 4 or 5 runners. You do a 4 or 5 gigs for them a month, and a single player is sitting on a nice pay package when they close all those gigs.
>"Dangerous jobs, but militech pays well for good wetwork."
>>
>>96465710

Well, with the new ERMK, you can balance that out with other stuff.
>do wetwork during the week.
>party with your chooms at the club on the weekend.
I think most people cope in Night City with drugs, BDs, or some occasional joytoy visits if they can't find an input/output. As long as you have eddies to burn and aren't super unlucky, it seems like it'd be easy enough to boost your humanity. The ref can also offer up humanity for doing "good deeds" if the alternative for a gig outcome was a less moral but more lucrative path to eddies.

I was really unlucky recently since we'd gotten a prize of 4d6 humanity gain, but I got nothing but 1's. Another player got more humanity with one die than I did with 4. Given their windfall, I may be more stingy with luck points (we can use them in shared instances courtesy of our homebrew).
>"You got plenty of humanity, I gotta save my luck for when I really need it. Unless you wanna spare me some humanity..."
I don't know if the ref will allow that, but I'd give up a crucial luck point in exchange for some extra humanity from another player.

True, if an "ugh, can we fucking not, please?" doesn't fix the problem then you're either at the wrong table or you're at the wrong table and either way you oughta fuckin leave- Either you're a fuckin pussy or the other players/DM are faggots

Unfortunately, if you pick up a game from Pilot.net, you've already forked over $25 a week two months in advance before you find out this is a transbian dilation campaign.

Why would I even bother playing a game that's pussified slop from setting to mechanics?

Sometimes inspiration can strike at random.
Just cooked up a black tokyo henshin hero who transforms when the girl he screws tells him to say her name.
Lifted from the ultraman z transformation sequence.
Wish me luck, black tokyo is a harsh place

God that is sad. Those had to be some extremely under-equipped pirates. Did they just not have any bows or something?

Actually pretty neat. They apparently were quite adept in melee if they could actually get stuck in, seems like they just didnt have the ranged weapons to complete with muskets and artillery.

That's not how the specs read on wikipedia anymore. The Spanish losses numbered there don't include native recruits who died, for example. The Spanish forces are also now counted at 60, which doesn't include their native recruits either. Also the word "ronin" has been replaced by "wokou pirates," of which it now reads that it's less than 1000 of them. Which is to say, the information in the previous picrel isn't considered up to date, and potentially misleading.

Cagayan battles are a mess. The Wokou actually repelled them back to their ship initially, but started losing out when the Spanish employed good formations to defend and take advantage of their men using firearms. They ended up sieging the Wokou fort too, outdoing them in artillery.

Long and short of it, they had more effective use of gunpowder weapons. They were using them so much that by the final stages of the battle, they were running out of gunpowder. The Spanish had good use of pikes too, but the Wokou faction was so good at taking their pikes away that the Spanish started oiling their own weapons at one point so they'd be harder to grab.

So, now you need to decide. Do you close your eyes to what you've seen and go back to sleep? Or do you come with this psycho burnout and do the impossible against the unbelievable and keep the future at bay for another day? What's it going to be? In or out?

Yeah? You dumb shit.

What was your Cell's introduction to The Program/The Conspiracy? Did you use a pre-written scenario, or make your own thing?

>Drug cartels have been in the cultural and political zeitgeist for about ten or so years now
>Arc Dream has done nothing regarding the War on Drugs and has instead shelved The Disciples of the Worm and Tiger Transit
>Meanwhile FoDG just released a campaign about investigating the heroin trade
It's amazing how much Arc Dream bragged about bringing DG to the modern day and has done absolutely nothing interesting

They use Christian cultists way too much.
If we got some kind of religious cultists why not Islamic ones?

>>96465035
They did that in Iconoclasts
