>>97200927>>97200946There's a fun game concept in playing in a sandpit or other lumpy board game and having to actually peak over hills and judge your turret depression, but it's definitely primarily a justification made to focus the setting entirely on what he wants it to focus on.Which is funny because people get really mad if you do the same thing but for mechs. Multiple mecha settings handwave away aircraft as part of their pitch.

>>97128475When diving into the transhuman issue (FBCs and exotics), the discussion can fishtail into trans stuff since there's also the option for swapping your gender. To shift gears, we can TRANSition to XBD discussion. There's Braindance content where people can have whatever digital body they want within the virtu. With the datakrash messing up the net, everything is localized to regional subnets and private networks. I reckon all manner of digital degeneracy gets explored in these private spaces.>loli orgies>zoophilla>necrophilla>guro>Rule 63 Bob Ross futa painting your insides and giving you a "color commentary" on the process. One thing I need to research is the actual laws in the universe. XBD production is illegal (obviously, you're harming real people), but what about AI-generated/simulated content for people to get off murder and rape? Presuming the sensations for that content are remixes of legal content, no one is technically getting harmed in the production and use of said XBD content. Is there a grey market for such content, or are all XBDs considered illegal since there's no way to discern real rape/murder from simulated rape/murder?
Have you ever allowed players to make their own cyberware or bioware in a game? How would you limit it so it would be balanced? I do think it should fit in the setting as there's plenty of chooms that would jailbreak their implants for another mantis blade but it's rare to hear about anyone coming up with new ideas for stuff they'd want to put inside themselves for shits and giggles.I myself have set up a rudimentary system where if a character is a techie or obtains a program that could reasonably be used as a design software I'll allow them to draw up some cyberware and stat it according to what would be reasonable for similar types of 'ware. They can then give it to me before they start a session or after we finish a game for the night and they get some ideas. It lead to the player having a pair of Lynx Paws-like leg implants that would launch them into the air with an explosive blast but would deal damage by a dice roll. They ended up killing a corpo that was gonna backstab them because they rolled a 1 to be cool and jump away on their first meeting and instead tripped and missled themselves through his torso.
>>97200892The illegality of XBDs is that they're basically jail-broken to give you a better-than-real-life experience (or at least more extreme than real), and that fucks up your brain, right? I'd imagine that it's much like people fucking around in blender or drawing doujin now, there might be some legality issues around BD's of kid fucking (especially if you're programming specific kids) but probably it'd be legal, if not socially acceptable.I guess the question is, how much do you need to make a bd?
>>97200909For context I rolled a 1 on the corpo dodging and was going to have that affect the quest but then when I rolled for the damage their tumble caused the weight of everything the player had on them/chipped in combined with a 20 led to him getting pulped.I had to scrap the job the group was gonna go on and pivot to an adventure using the backup scenario I made of them being hunted by corpo killteam ninjas if they killed the corpo. I planned for it but I was baffled they activated that scenario by a random series of fuckups rather than a cool plan to backstab the backstabber for more eddies.
>>97200909I tried working with my ref on some of that. I had one of my NPC followers have "rocket hands," where he could launch his fists. I don't believe there's an explicit cyberware like that in the RAW, but I think they were treated as a throwable melee weapon. Another NPC has wolvers that were worn out and didn't work right. That's more reworking existing cyberware to behave differently, though. Generally speaking, I think custom cyberware ideas are cool, even if they end up being a little broken. Just gotta convince your ref. >"I have an idea for snake drones that I can deploy out of my arms to-">"Nah, that's too complicated. Just give them mantis blades. You can draw snake faces on them if you want.">>97200942>and that fucks up your brain, right? No more than regular BDs (that also can be remixed to boost sensations), I don't think. I would argue it depends on the content and how intensely the sensations are rendered. I felt XBDs are usually content that's considered too extreme to be sold in stores and has to be sold on secretive subnets or in back alleys. > I'd imagine that it's much like people fucking around in blender or drawing doujin nowAssuming no real people were harmed, I suppose, but if the XBD is so well made that you can't distinguish it from the real thing, I figure the law would just be>All acts involving prohibited content (real or simulated) in an XBD etc. etc.Or something to that effect. This is not the right thread for it but damn Marvel Champions is super fucking fun. Building a deck and whooping on a villain (and getting whooped) is so satisfying. I like that you build a deck that has a unique playstyle to aid in what you want to do.
>>97200403Pay to win is a feature, not a bug wagie. Play in a sim or find people at your local that are chill fighting your proxy deck.
>>97200743Unfortunately I probably don't know as much as you'd hope. I don't really play. I used to play Duel Masters Play's (the official mobile game though it has a PC client too) but I stopped because I don't like gacha shit. It was really fun, but I don't wanna fall down that hole. If you're interested in it there are ways to play it in English if you don't know Japanese, though it's got many differences from the paper game.Nowadays I basically just follow the official Youtube channel (Duetube). They show off and talk about new releases and stuff, and also stream pro games every now and again (you can find VODs in the live section on the channel).I hope you know Japanese.https://www.youtube.com/@-dm-1351(1/2)
>>97200743>>97200926As far as what I can generally tell you about the metagame and how to git gud and make gud decks:Most decks try to win by cheating out big creatures as early as they can as their win-con, basically creating a board state that is powerful enough to tank any shield triggers when they swing (or has abilities that disable shield triggers). There are lots of mechanics that help you do this, like revolution change and invasion, or just cards with effects that simply "put" creatures without paying their costs (Heaven's Gate is a classic example). If they're not cheating out cards, they might just have lots of fast mana ramp and cost reduction to summon big creatures fast the old-fashioned way (common in nature decks I think).Cheating out big creatures is enough of a part of the meta that there's an entire category of creatures called "meta" or "anti-meta" creatures which serve as control pieces to prevent your opponent from cheating stuff out (or punishes them for doing so). The wiki has a whole page dedicated to them: https://duelmasters.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Anti-Meta_cardsPic related is a classic example of an anti-meta creature (https://duelmasters.fandom.com/wiki/Testa_Rossa,_Survival_Star). His effect shuts down almost every method of cheating out creatures because most methods of cheating out creatures simply "put" a creature instead of summoning them. It would largely shut down the turn 3 winning combo I gave as an example in the Bolshack deck. That would force the Bolshack player to use removal to get rid of Testa Rossa if they wanted their strategy to work or just cope with traditional summoning. Either way it slows their game plan down significantly. That said I think there is still a place in the meta for more weenie aggro decks that just start swinging with cheap creatures early, though they might be weak to blocker heavy decks. And then you've got bullshit combo decks that ignore board state and just win out of nowhere.(2/2)
I've been on a space kick recently and want to run a sci-fi space campaign as the GM. What are the best systems for a flexible gaming experience without the autistic complexity of something like Shadowrun? I'm looking for a system that can run "magic" (Psionics, occultists, dark gods, etc) and high-tech weaponry and ships and stuff as well as madness mechanics mutations, cybernetics, horror elements, etc. Visiting weird planets, dealing with intergalactic politics, smuggling goods, assassinations, dealing with alien cultures, learning dangerous magic and technology, etc. I also want the players help make the setting so I'd prefer a flexible system that can handle a multitude of scenarios with cool aliens and stuff. I've heard of Traveler, Starfinder, etc, I just wanna know what system(s) I should focus on learning about first. I'd rather not run it in a Star Wars DnD conversion or Feelings and Lasers. This crowd usually plays DnD or very simple games but are open to other games too. Again I've tried Shadowrun and I'd rather a system that isn't over-complicated and just has the hacking take up 90% of the screentime.
>>97198309I'm guessing you meant Stars Without Number.
>>97198455Traveller has sanity mechanics in the Companion, but they are bad, because sanity mechanics in general are bad.
>>97198206>medium complexity >scifi kitchen sink, bolt on options for various things like psionics, mechs, etc. >faction turns for players to engage with in making the setting >basically everything you need in one book Take a look at Stars Without Number.
