>>96479183Don't blame you. I haven't been able to jam a game in months so was unsure of preordering. I guess we'll see how these rulers stack up, though I'm mainly interested in Paradox and their viability there.>>96478049>Planeswalker rulers?Mostly. They are cards in your deck like any other that you'll need to pay to cast instead of start the game with though. Unlike other spells though, they go to the Ruler zone and can also be directly attacked. Damage dealt to them is done via the attacking resonator's total cost as long as they have some attack power. Guess they are trying to encourage players to play with cards that are more than 1 or 2 mana.
So is Riftbound fun? Because the way you win the game sounds retarded, score 8 points stealing battlefields and you get a point if you held control of it at the start of your next turn. The final point needs a dual conquest at start of turn otherwise the game will persist infinitely. So there is no way to lose if both players just never try to hold both fields once they are at 7 points. This is so stupid.
How do Gundam decks work? Do you pick a pilot and what link units are broken under that pilot then add filler like blockers and drawing techs?
>>96484622Yeah, basically.Pick 2, maybe 3 pilots, add the cards they link to, and fill the rest of your deck with just generically good cards.
/tg/, I'm designing a campaign for my group. The campaign consists from three acts. As a whole, they cover levels from 1 to 20.What happens in the first act is immaterial for this thread. In the very beginning of the second act, however, they will meet the big villain of the campaign, who decides that they're going to be a threat to his master plan and immediately kills them all right at the end of a gruelling dungeon. The player characters then go to Valhalla, meet not!Odin and then return to life with a divine quest. Half of the second act will involve fulfilling this quest to pay not!Odin back for their resurrection. The other half involves revenge against the villain. Now, obviously if they just reveal themselves, they'd just be killed again. So they'll be gently suggested to assume false identities and infiltrate the villain's massive army of mercenaries in order to foil his plan from the inside. By the end of the act, the villain's army will be gone, his personal power extinguished, and then he'll die as the final boss of the act. That's the idea. However, I keep thinking about how it'll actually go. I have 7-9 dungeons in mind for the second act. That is a lot of sessions spent under secret identities, while everyone believes that they're dead. While the undercover arc could potentially be interesting, I'm also seeing the potential for it to be very exhausting to actually go through.Should I just pre-emptively cut the "undercover" part to just 1 or 2 dungeons? It's going to be pretty difficult to change them on the fly, if I see that this story is not working.
>>96484029Holy shit dude.
>>96484550>Like, what if they decide to sign on with the villain? The villain has no reason to accept them, especially at that point when they'll have been a thorn in his side for a time already, even if they didn't know it.
why are people here always so negative and retarded?

>>96477812 (Me)I am also the guy who made the overly complicated intimate encounters subsystem, and having to re-learn my own system, untouched for months, is giving me some food for thought. I'm not making it more simple though; the last time I was working on it I was fiddling with a foreplay stage, and I tried implementing it while playing this time. I have come to the realization that the character I'm using is built for goblin women. Not necessarily because he's attracted to them, but every time he gets engaged with one of them they milk him like he's a fucking cow. Even the cute, shy one that brought him beer after he offered his services as a mercenary to her tribe has just completely obliterated him in bed. He's fine with Elves! He rolls quite well against them! But goblins, goblins...

>>96481500>Can you give me names, or even links, to those wargames that you feel have good rules for playing in and with buildings? Would really help me out.Warzone first edition had some very solid, simple rules that are pretty similar to some of the stuff for early Warhammer. Which is unsurprising considering the way Heartbreaker got started. You can find the rules on the Mutant Chronicles wiki site (https://www.mutantpedia.com/Warzone.html). The first version was a tunnel-fighting system from Chronicles magazine, that was then elaborated on for the Capitol Bridgehead, Brotherhood Cathedral, and Bauhaus Bunker boxed sets. They're designed to play with floorplans on a side table as a sort of hybrid zone-system. Units can shoot out of buildings easily as long as they have access to a hole, but it's substantially harder to shoot in without a flamer, and stuff like mortars can't do it at all. Larger units are limited by their base size or silhouette, much like Infinity (see below). Moving around in a building is heavily-constrained by doorways and stairwells. Combined with short LoS indoors it can make for some very spooky bughunt games. You could also look at other modern skirmishers like Last Days, Reality's Edge/This is Not a Test, Zone Raiders, and the like. They generally have very similar rules to old-school Necromunda.Infinity basically treats buildings like just another part of the battlefield, albeit with a ceiling. The whole game has a lot more (for lack of a better word) precision to it than Warzone, because it's more tournament-oriented rather than an up-jumped RPG mass-combat system. It assumes you can just take apart all the buildings, somehow without disturbing the models inside, and do very tight LoS and reaction checks. Moving around is a lot more abstract. "Into the Breeding Pits" for first edition Frostgrave is a dungeon-crawling expansion. It has some interesting ideas, like blown initiative rolls placing traps on the board.
>>96481559Dreadnoughts are pretty well known for entering buildings, though wall breaching is even more of an uncommon and interesting rule than building fights. The solution for units holding terrain is flamers, grenades, and barreling a dreadnought into them.

I feel like making something, ideally something OSR-adjacent. This is kind of an open-ended question: what RPG supplement or other cool thing does /tg/ want to see? Think something you'd pay between $3 and $5 for.I've got some game design and writing experience. I can handle graphic design and illustration (and sound too, if relevant). I just want some input on what you think might be cool. Trying to decide what to put a little time into.
>>96465197Name five ideas you have.
>>96471561No, words derive their meanings from the Platonic Forms.

>>964826941:Niggers2:White niggers3: Mexican niggers4: Asian niggers5: Injiun niggers
>>96482694I have lots of ideas and tons of notes. I'm not sure if all of it is stuff people would be interested in, which is part of the reason why I made this thread. Are you asking to hear five of them because you're curious and want to hear them, or because you're skeptical and want an opportunity to troll? lolOne of them was very similar to an anon's suggestion in this thread, sort of "expansions" to Monster Overhaul, or something inspired by it. I actually have a bunch of notes for orcs, but conceptually I've been re-working the idea into something called "trogs," which goes with a larger setting I've been working on for awhile. It's a catch-all term for human-adjacent (or sometimes just feral human) "monsters" that live outside of society, sometimes in caves. If it were a supplement, it would be geared toward GM prep and session. I have a decent understanding of what makes something interesting or fun, providing enough detail that it "leaves blanks" for the GM to fill stuff in or run with it.Taking that general approach, I have some stuff for: a magic supplement (I don't know if you'd call it a "system," it's more something inspired by the Book of Gaub), stuff for warlords in a wild land after the fall of an empire, and several different monsters from various folklore. I also have a weapons and armor guide that goes along with a whole different approach to combat. I have stuff for a horror/sci-fi setting inspired by Doom and Quake (a whole lot of stuff for this, monsters, challenges, hacking stuff, a whole setting). I could go on for awhile.>>96482748lol yeah this is something you can already find tons of. Not really interested in creating low effort class stuff, and if I did, I definitely wouldn't have the gall to charge for it.
Clerics can no longer cast spells while using a shield apparently. This is from the new starter set. WotC REALLY wants to destroy that class fantasy for some reason.
>>96465669The fuck? Why are they changing shit for the sake of changing shit?
>>96471442You're about to catch the back of my holy symbol.
Don't tell me people actually care about "you must have hand free for le spells"
>>96471442to be fair if it was how it worked in-universe you'd expect the shield religion to dominate over time because their clerics would have a massive advantage on the battlefield. They'd win wars against people with shittier holy symbols and people would convert for the better holy symbol. The latter is a pretty significant part of how it worked IRL; primitive religion almost universally promises its adherents supernatural power over the world around them.

>>96484371>Is this also the proper thread to ask about figure and mini painting?Since this is the /tg/ board, mostly what we talk about here are miniatures meant for games - Warhammer, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Battletech, etc. - but many of the ideas and techniques we talk about might be applicable to vinyl anime figures, if that's what you're asking. They are smaller than the real thing, so I guess *technically* that makes them miniatures, too!I'd be surprised, though, if you wouldn't find a more directly applicable discussion in /toy/ or /m/, though.
