I am showing you things you are skipping. I put the werewolf dung there because it was funny and shows you need it for Alchemy. The rest is Enchantment.

But the enchantment also need a workshop, interesting ingredients and most of the time, you to be skilled in a craft. And just as I showed off in the previous post, it usually needs to be redone, reapplied or worse, can fail completely in places.
>>
>>96459747
>"Crafting a talisman, even a minor one, calls for a certain degree of craftsmanship, which some enchanters and some...well..."
>But the enchantment also need a workshop, interesting ingredients and most of the time, you to be skilled in a craft.
Book quote seems to disagree with you.

>I am showing you things you are skipping. I put the werewolf dung there because it was funny and shows you need it for Alchemy.
So you edited the screenshot and are trying to backtrack on getting caught?

I didn't say they were better than mages (for mages extended casting is a matter of turns, their offensive magic doesn't have a damage cap and they don't have other in-built limitations, one sphere gives a benefit of 3+paths, about the only sorcerer thing they are unable to get is diff modifiers lower than -3 in latter editions).
Without diligent prepping they can will get bowled over by woofs and vamps because their spontaneous effects are rather ineffectual. With, though, well, >>96459519 and >>96459634 already explained why they can be powerful. To add what they say Divination is fabulous at getting early warning for any trouble.
>>
>>96459782
Nta but are you blind? The end of the first paragraph says hunt for magical ingredients and spends most of their time in laboratory.
And the quote says you need certain degree of craftsmanship, with the implication of not having it being shoddy and not working.

This is my priority order for deciding on a new character whenever I play an RPG. AMA.

Roger roger!

What made gnomes so special that they needed to be a core race for so long? they were only introduced shortly after the original races buts still stick around to this day. they are never really popular player races, and don't really fulfill the same fantasy tropes as the other races did
So why stick around as a core and not just be a later supplement?

>>96459538
Why are elves special? They're literally the same size as humans. Why do we need so many human sized races?
>>
>>96459765
Because elves can go up and down on the ladder of their connection to other races. If they arn't the super primordial progenitor elves (Le'shay or whatever they were called in Epic Handbook) they are the progenitor of 90% of most races.
>>
>>96459538
gnomes have some mythological/folklore weight working for them. The real question is why do halflings still exist? They're just knock-off hobbits, anything worthwhile should be rolled into gnomes.

The thread to talk about Super Heroes/Villains/Spies/Agents/Rogues be it in spandex or not.

Popular Choices for Games:

>Mutants & Masterminds
Currently the most played one, uses a d20 resolution for everything, has powers building and rules for tactical combat.

>Marvel TSR/ FASERIP
Classic Supers game from the 80s, still has a lot of fans and various retro-clones. Uses a d100 with an universal resolution table to decide the degree of success, has random character generation and abstract rules for powers and combat.

>Masks (PbtA)
Rules light game with focus on narrative. Less rules reading more making stuff up on the moment. Game is built on the concept of playing as young heroes but you can use it for more mature settings.

I'd love to hear more about him please!
>>
>>96459269
He's generally a background villain, operating mostly through one of those smaller ARGUS drones you see hovering behind him. Primarily a roboticist, he is responsible for accidentally creating his heroic arch-nemesis, Apex, and has become consumed by the idea of replicating the circumstances of that transformation for himself. He has become increasingly desperate to achieve that goal over the years, as Apex seemingly resists the ravages of time in a way that Zero cannot.

Pic related is Apex, but I'm in the process of redesigning him to be less obviously "Superman."

I think id be perfectly fine with this Universes within bullshit if they made physical copies of that too. Market it as an option for people who arent as into the Universes Beyond set. Double their money, and it would make MTGA players feel like they arent playing at the kids table with their made up cards.

Every time I search for a cool "barbarian" in some RPG, no matter if it's dark fantasy or not, it's always the half-naked dude or chick that looks like he / she has just wake up after an university party.
It gives the same vibes that you get from watching an historical film and for some reason, the filmmakers hate natural colors and must put a filter that ruins your immersion.

Is it there a good RPG with proper "barbarians"?

It's supposedly going to be dropping here soon (it was supposed to drop this summer, but apparently they needed more time to cook). I went to their Twitter page, and it only has 120 followers, so I'm feeling a little nervous. Worst case scenario, I can pinch off lore that they've promised to include if they completely butcher the actual game mechanics and shoehorn things into a better system if I have to. I hope I don't.

Anyone familiar with Skydawn games, or are they a "literally who" of the TTG scene?

Wait, so it's not just og Phantasy Star? I'm pretty sure these guys come from PSO.
>>
>>96458896
They're pulling content from PS 1~4 as well as PS0 & PSOBB. I think you could probably bend and shape the content to fit PSO2 and other media as well if you wanted.

PSO2 & NG are very fast-paced, though. Practically DMC-style combat. I don't know if you could translate that same feeling of frenetic action to a tabletop game. Compared to the slower and more methodical PSO & PS0 anyway.
>>
>>96459191
I see. I wouldn't really mind the system not trying to simulate PSO2's combat as long as it had cool rules for the classes and the monsters, especially for the Dark Falzs (Falzes?) and other bosses.

Many weeks ago I posted about giving my 3rd level party a 7-headed hydra encounter. It took a long time to get to it but here's the rundown of how it went.
>they explore a ruined castle and find a few hidden switches that open the locks to the vault where the loot and hydra are located
>along the way they find many pools of volcanic acid, shards of broken obsidian from inclusions on the ceiling of the cavern, and a large working portcullis, as well as an ancient gladius in an armory, which they take to present as proof they found this place
>each lock makes a loud click that startles the hydra and causes it to vocalize
>the druid recognizes this sound as being similar to a crocodile
>the second lock causes multiple simultaneous vocalizations
>druid thinks this indicates a pit of multiple crocs
>the NPC gnome trail guide with the group remembers that his tribe told tales of hydras in this area long ago
>the NPC trail guide then leads the other NPC university researcher to a safe place
>the party carefully sets up a rope system to open the last switch to the vault door and leads the hydra to the room with obsidian shards
>the NPC gnome trail guide returns with poisoned monstrous centipede meat to distract the hydra
>>
>>96459523

>they climb up a broken wall and the cleric knocks down a large shard of obsidian from the ceiling with Spiritual Weapon
>the shard hits 4 of the heads and manages to sever all of them
>the NPC gnome trail guide distributes acid splash vials to the group which he filled from the volcanic pools around the area
>they successfully cauterize the 4 heads
>there is no more sufficiently large obsidian to sever heads, only does minor body damage
>one of the players gets bit by a single head for minimum damage
>they lead the hydra to the portcullis and the druid uses a summon to lure it precisely
>they slam the gate onto its necks and the two outer heads chew off the middle one in an attempt to eventually free itself
>the party throws lamp oil onto the stump and lights it
>the heat from the fire weakens the bronze portcullis and the hydra pulls itself free, but the stone wall holding the gate collapses and knocks it unconscious
>the party realizes no one has a bladed weapon to cut off the last remaining heads while it's down
>the NPC university researcher runs out of her hiding spot and uses the gladius from earlier to cut off the remaining heads
>they douse it in acid one final time
>>
>>96459535
Glad it went well! A bit of an ass-pull with the DMPCs but at least they took the bait on the environmental tools to try and trap it. How'd the players feel about it?
>>
>>96459552
they seemed to really enjoy it. I think the NPC killing it off at the end was a fun dramatic choice but it also could have been fun if they just stood up and faught out the last 2 heads.

I'm sorry to say that a big factor leading to that choice was that it was very close to the time one of our players has to leave and we won't be able to play again for several weeks. I really didn't want to break this fight up into two sessions a month apart.
>>
>>96459676
Hey, improv is the name of the game and I've definitely had sessions and arcs defined more by IRL shit than any internal cohesion. I'd say you handled it well, especially with time pressure. Good shit.
