Marvel? Thats a mighty building
>>
>>96485012
I agree. We have to keep in mind that everything about 40k, the lore, the rules, the culture, etc is designed only to promote the purchase and use of the current range of figures. As it's difficult to make rules that cover the current figure range, with it's nine foot tall space marines, dreadnoughts, winged demons and tyranids, vehicles and huge 'heros' balancing on tactical rock piles, GW just doesnt bother with decent rules for fighting inside buildings. This may be why most 40k players just don't bother either and mostly stick with the occasional solid terrain display pieces and L shaped cardboard.
>>
>>96485173
They would look ok with a bit of paint. Maybe glue them to lollypop sticks and add random bits of foliage and earth piled up against them (using wood filler), add random extra rows to each long one to break up the straight lines a bit? Walls tend to be built straight, with nature making them more 'organic' over time.

Honestly, depends on how much roleplay the GM allows or enforces around it. In combat it is not particulary useful.

What do people typically do for demo games? 3v3 line troops? Do you do a follow-up game where you include a model with special rules? Do you leave out extra rules like fireteams and lieutenants? Need to get a scene kickstarted in my area so I’ve gotta work out how to do this

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, Judge Dredd, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void, Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenotactics...
...and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.

>>
>>96488536
Oathmark. It's very generic but in a good way, and you can mix and match units from other factions to get what you want. It's designed to be model agnostic, though as pointed out it is darkage themed.
I've never played Dragon Rampant, but it's getting a 2e release shortly, but Billhooks Fantasia is a straight up awful 'game'. It's exceedingly bad and does not do fantasy.

>>96488989

Like hammers. Their a lot faster than infantry and get a ton of bonuses on the charge. My main opponent adopted cav heavy armies from the getgo as he realised how good they are, and I have a really hard time countering them without preparation.
Combat is never locked in oathmark, the lower is pushed back, so cav can charge, throw the foe back, then next turn go in again.

This is what I'm loving about 3D printing
I just pull the supports off and my model is usually ready to paint
Meanwhile I spent hours snipping and then cleaning every mold line off my box of Perry Austrians
This is ignoring all the failed supports, failed prints, messy chemicals, etc of course

Based Primarch. After checking the rules quickly I have a few questions.
What is the purpose of the conflict matrix in the Sword&Shield variant? Is it just a tool for keeping the games somewhat historically accurate or does it have any other purpose?
Do you plan to create any fantasy supplement in the future?
Any way to support you? Do you plan to sell your rules through Wargame Vault perhaps?

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

I have people living in space colonies near a gas giant and I had the idea of them weaponizing the hydrogen they collect off it with giant tanker mines, but how actually do you weaponize that in space, since explosives work quite differently with no atmosphere
>>
>>96489985
Just regular old thermonuclear warheads. Big bursts of radiation are still deadly. You can shape your charges too if you want, so consider that to get that sweet sweet Casaba-Howitzer action (nuclear spears). You need more ingredients than that, but at least those are sometimes called H-bombs so you have that. Otherwise, use the hydrogen as reaction mass for kinetic weapons.

Females have a minimum size they must be in order to successfully give birth or lay eggs (for egg-laying species this is particularly important, since the calcium for the eggshells comes from the female's bones. The larger the female, the larger the bone mass, and more calcium can be leached off without causing osteoporosis). So for males to be bigger you usually need a specific reason for it to be so. Usually it's either that the males compete for mates or have harems of females that they protect (or both at the same time), in which case being bigger provides an advantage. In most species the male is larger, it's for that reason. Though there's some exceptions. A bunch of snakes have males that are larger than females seemingly for no reason (likely just some random evolutionary quirk that has no reason to be selected against because it's not like it's negative affecting them), though usually in those cases the size difference is small.

>>
>>96386860

A few cool things about Ancient Egypt, specifically, in contrast to other "bronze age" states or the stereotype:
- The Nile's overwhelming importance. The terrain of Egypt is not "deserts and oases," it's basically a giant line that creates a 1 dimensional country.
- Until 1960, the Nile would regularly flood every single year, slowly washing away any buildings. Bad for archaeologists, but a cool and unique thing you don't see elsewhere.
- Egypt was, in fact, not always politically unified, nor was it an ethnic monoculture; the Hyksos (probably Canaanite settlers) took over north Egypt, at the same time the Kushites were pushing up from the south, and probably they formed an alliance to buttfuck them
- Chariots. Horses hadn't gotten big enough to ride them to war yet, is my understanding.
- They quite often had pet monkeys.
- They thought basically every animal was sacred to some god or another. While the Greeks no doubt exaggerated this in some of their accounts, it was a real tendency. Crocodile cults were more common in rural Egypt, though they were found mummified in Thebes and the city the Greeks called Crocodilopolis.

Trench Crusade General - /trench/
Weird love Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. They have all been collected here for your convenience:

>>
>>96491654
Yeah, absolutely. From my experience aside from some dedicated melee heavy hitters (which most faction can only have a small number of), ranged weapons definitely tend to be stronger than melee in TC, do you need plenty of terrain if you don't want them to dominate. Also, it looks cool and opportunity to use jumping/climbing rules is always fun

He does look cool and the paintjob is very nice, but I do agree with others that the camo and weapons make him look more modern or even futuristic

If I get some WargameAtlantics kits. I'll do the appropriate ww2 uniforms. I used that green-gray color for the body under the duble cloak, but it's barely visible.
I also plan on doing some equipment of the TAZ57 (Alpenflage) era, but only for special characters.
This guy has the camo cover and the gun is black-scoffed metal like the SIG 510.

Surplus battledroids have been used multiple times by criminal elements. And I could easily imagine some warships getting smuggled out. If a legal pretense is needed, maybe a corrupt Imperial officer sold 'scrapping rights' to a contractor and 'forgot' to ensure that fully dismantled them.

Best thing to happen in Legion in a long time, though these Generic Jedi seem like they could be somewhat overtuned depending on how they are costed.

>Ventress/Maul/Ahsoka
kek, confirmed to be Padawan/Inquisitor-tier forcelets.
More seriously I'm more worried about the Jedi Consular or Jedi Training (Force Adept) getting them to MOTF2 which would be crazy if not costed appropriately.
I'm surprised these seem to be so high-power when Rebel and Imperial generics are closer to the 65-110pts range. I suppose it makes sense with Republic being the Elite faction with expensive units.

For context
>Mando S1 and S2 both got 7 Emmys
>Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka and Mando S3 each got 1
>The most TCW got in a year was 2
>Andor S1 got 0
I don't think these awards mean much.

ahsoka being MoTF1 makes sense, ventress and maul should get a buff though
