>>97827220>You cannot make a copy of a man and print a woman.Scientifically, you can. I mean, all you need to do is, when you inject the dna into the egg, make sure it's an XX chromosome, rather than XY and boom, female clone. That being said, the psychological aspect would be a crapshoot. You may end up making a biological female with gender dysphoria due to a considerable chunk of its genes being male and if said genes end up developing the reasoning centers of the brain... Then again, this is all hypothetical at best, like the majority of psychology. In any case, i find it hilarious that, as per usual, the guy spouting off the slurs on 4chan to make him sound like a big man is the one who also decided bring science into the show about space magic wizards trying to stop an evil space magic wizard making a moon-sized planet blower-upper-gun, because THAT'S the straw that broke the camels back.
>>97828132>You may end up making a biological female with gender dysphoria due to a considerable chunk of its genes being maleThere isn't male and female genes, beyond the Y-chromosome acting as a marker for the embryo to develop into a male. Differences in brain development are more affected by hormones during fetal development. You can get a mutation that screws up the hormonal balance, but it wouldn't be because you got too many "male genes" in a female body.A bigger issue with Omega, who is basically a half-clone of her father, is that since she would have to have a duplicate set of Jango's chromosomes any recessive hereditary conditions he might have would manifest. Though the Kaminoans would presumably have ways to screen for that and edit the genes if necessary. Incidentally, opposite sex half-clones occur in quite many animals capable of pathenogenesis, for example in monitor lizards. In most reptiles the sex determination of the embryo works the opposite way than in mammals, with a pair of identical sex chromosomes making a male. So a monitor lizard reproducing parthenogenetically will take half of her genome and duplicate it in the embryo, resulting in either a male half-clone of the mother or an egg that never develops since two copies of the female sex chromosome is unviable.
>>97827658That's an interesting comparison. Did the ottomans larp as the romans? The main idea I had is that my Moff's trying to make an idealised version of the Empire in her little fiefdom and larps really really hard for it.
>>97828701>Did the ottomans larp as the romans? No. They saw conquering Constantinople as their holy goal, but once they got it they did not refer to themselves as inheritors of its (Roman) power, and regarded themselves as seperate from 'the Latins' (we would, ironically, call 'the Latins' Greeks today)The state referred to itself officially as 'Sublime Ottoman State', 'Sublime State' and (later) 'Ottoman State', never as Roman, Latin etc. They did not use Roman/Byzantine heraldry, though they largely kept the names of places the same (they only changed the name of Constantinople to Istanbul in the 19th century)The one thing they did keep for a while were the coins, but that was probably a function of islamic law more or less outlawing banking.
>>97828871The Ottoman Sultan did adopt "Kaiser i Rum" (Emperor of Rome) as one of his titles, but they didn't really emphasize it.

Do you prefer a ton of detail fleshing out an adventure module, or do you prefer only the most note worthy and explicit features required to run the adventure? there's two competing schools of thought on how one creates more work for the DM than the other. However they might be overlooking the effort that goes into summing and paraphrasing down a lot of fluff into actionable material to execute at the table, and how flexible the canvas is to do whatever it is you wish with the more straightforward template.

>>97826307>>97826360I think these were written to be d12 and d20 tables, and then they realized that the game doesn't use either those kinds of dice.
>>97827052Tales is canon though. He also even mentioned a bit about the Aftershocks book, which was canceled for some reason. So from Mike, anything goes.
>>97826307>>97826360Rolling a d20 or d12 seems the easiest way to go. 1 is your custom donut faction for each category.
Simple rule to improve and balance wizards in OSR games: they can only memorize one casting of a given spell per day. You have 3 third level slots? You can cast one Fireball, not 2 or 3. Don't know any other 3rd level spells? Better go find some spellbooks. Hope you make your % chance to learn spell rolls (I won't bother addressing faggots who let wizards automatically learn new spells). God forbid you have to get more creative with your casting.

>>97793691>simple rule to make wizards a pain in the ass to play while making them 4% less powerful
does OP know that there are already games where magic and other options are balanced while still being fun and versatile?
>>97793691trash
>>97821119>>97821066>>97820991can you address your specific criticisms of 1e?
Given that anime and anime inspired cartoon styles have become pretty much the norm or at least incredibly common in most other forms of indie entertainment (TTRPGs, videogames, comics, animation, even miniature wargames). How comes it remains a relatively rare style to find in board games, an industry that operates almost entirely in the form of independent creators and small studios? How comes it still carries associations of being an art-style of games "for kids"? It was so strange when pic related came out seeing people "warning" others that even tho "it looks like a game for kids, it's actually quite difficult and heavy".
>>97828286Ah, that part. I meant that yuri shows for boys and girls tend to be different usually.

>>97828260theres a lot about gundam that parallels star trek>did poorly on release and did much better on re-runs >became a national hit when it hit theatres>initially found a fanbase outside its intended audience, mostly female ones>had constant toy troubles at first because the merch they made was aimed too young>would end up getting a critically acclaimed sequel series that would become a critically acclaimed darling and accompanied by toys that were actually a fit for the audience, and yet everyone prefers to remember the original series
>>97828308It also has similarities to Star Wars, and when trying to explain Gunpla, I’ve used the example that a Japanese Gundam Gan building a Gundam model set is culturally similar to an American building a Lego Star Wars set.

>>97828595Can confirm. My mother has been taking art classes for over 30 years with an art conservation specialist shes friend with since forever. She (my mother and the teacher) uses warm water + dish soap to clean her brushes. She said my 'brush soap is fine too'.Really theres no need to fling shit at each other over how you clean your brushes. If it works for you, thats fine.As for 'nooo you cant get paint in the ferrule', its not ideal, but as long as you dont let it dry there should be ok.And if the brush gets all fucked, get another, theyre consumables after all.Sure, take care of them to the best of your ability but dont obsess over it.Actual art professionals dont worry as much about it as you fellas do.
>>97828746>dish soapas in fairy or similar stuff? i would have guessed that's too harsh
>>97828746Actual artists also tend not to use tiny brushes like we do. I do agree not to obsess over it, I've spent years cleaning my brushes with the same thing I clean myself with (i.e., Aleppo soap), only later started using Rosemary & Co Cleanser and Conditioner (I got it for free), and so far, the results are mostly the same. But, I wouldn't use harsher soaps, like the ones for dishes.

>>97827167I haven't looked at that one. You might be able to use stars without numbers. That one has a lot of options
>>97827164I think that name rings a bell, I saw it when I looked up CSC in the archive. It's a really great piece of work, I've been having a marvelous time with it at my Gongfarmers chapter. The next adventure I want to do is a multiple-choice mission where the PCs are offered three jobs from their fixer; >I've got a guy who wants a guy dead. I've got another guy who wants someone...extracted against their will. Nothing bad will happen to him, in case you care. And I also have a straightforward bodyguard/escort gig. Take your pick, I have other runners who'll do the others.Turns out, it's all the same guy. A mob informant is trying to duck out of his deal. The District Attorney wants him to testify, the triads want him dead, he wants to go to Tahiti with his mistress. The PCs will be up against two other teams of runners who have opposing objectives.
Anyone here ever tried using the Veins of the Earth cave generation system? I like how it can make nonlinear and challenging passages, but I can see it becoming repetitive with the limited number of options.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. A bit of an odd question maybe, but are there any materials or useful guides for converting things from GURPS for use in B/X?
