>>96791010I am kinda the same anon, don't worry about these replies. I find most "roleplaying" generally distasteful, boring and selfish. I find the concept of limelight or "turn-taking" in RP antithetical to my idea of fun with RPGs.Everyone wants to act out dialogue and it's very theatrical and annoying. I find it is best kept to a minimum and only works well as window dressing and moving the story forward. I am more than happy for my players to either describe dialogue or voice act it, but I don't entertain players who want to have real-time conversations with barmen like it's a videogame or film.

If I am for some reason running a crunchy game, I have a player learn the rules for me and I learn through them as we play.I tend to only GM lite games and I still don't expect my players to learn them but at least they can look at it for reference without having their head blow up.If I was to guess, your friends are clearly not as interested as you, and you're being an idiot about it.Honestly just run rules that are easy and simple to teach and remember.
>>96792541>they don't want anything but mudcore, heavily proceduralized dungeon crawlingWhy is this a bad thing? If you want to play a gay romance and be the center of attention that's on you, but dungeon crawling and low fantasy were there at the beginning of the hobby.

>>96829052>change all the pronouns from "he" to singular "they"This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I always hated the singular "they" because it often leads to weird grammatical snaggles of whether you're referring to an individual or a collective. In a game where precision of language is so important, this is going to cause so much needless confusion. I'll take literally any other pronoun, even made-up pronouns from the early 2000s fanfiction days like "xe/xir", but miss me with that "they" shit.

I remember playing 1e back in the day and wondered if 2nd edition is worth anything?
>>96830340>The setting doesn't count as a setting.Bravo brother! The Titanomachy is also just an afterthought of the game right? So no problem whatsoever killing it on the next edition!
>>96830601Exactly, now answet the question piggy.
>>96830601>what did he mean by this
>>96829909The difference is that 1e had the gods removed, while 2e had them at a remove. The pantheons in 2e didn't pack themselves off to their Godrealms and live in perpetual stasis as protection from Fatebinding. They stayed in close enough contact with the world that their cults continued for hundreds or thousands of years, but also somehow never evolved over the generations. The supernatural world has explicitly always been just beneath the surface in 2e, instead of fading memories and very rare divine vacations.
>>96830898>The pantheons in 2e didn't pack themselves off to their GodrealmsYes they did. Gods tend to stick to the Otherworlds because Fate will alter them otherwise. That's kind of the basic premise of the setting. Gods stay behind the curtain for a lot of reasons, so meddle in indirect ways. >They stayed in close enough contact with the world that their cults continued for hundreds or thousands of years, Through incarnations, scions, and other intermediaries. They're not often galivanting around the World as themselves. >but also somehow never evolved over the generations. They tend to take steps to not get Fatebound to Hel and back, but they're not entirely removed from time and basically all the portfolios tell you a little about how they exist in modern day. >The supernatural world has explicitly always been just beneath the surface in 2e, instead of fading memories and very rare divine vacations.Yeah, because there isn't a masquerade. Obviously people know it's real and there when it's not hidden ancient truths.

These men thrive in the thrill of the fight, dropping in with precise infantry strikes followed up with an armoured strike from their armour division. In times of extensive campaigns the Canines call upon auxiliaries from a world in the Brontë system called the Blackwoods, a jungle world home to the Ivory Devils, a regiment of Ogyrns and Jungle fighters.Thats about it mostly, for their inspiration they take heavy inspiration from the novels Wuthering Heights and Heart of Darkness (thats mainly filled by the Ivory Devils), they also have their squads named after british folklore hounds (such as Squad Barghest for example), the attached picture is the army I took to a GTMy favourite unit in the army so far is probably the Rogal Dorn affectionately named Nelly (the maid from Wuthering Heights who recounts her experience in the novel), with her Tank Commander being called Hindley (another character from Wuthering Heights).

Welcome to /lfg/. A thread for looking for players or a game to play in. Make sure to include:- What systems you are interested in running/playing (OSR, Pathfinder, WoD, Traveller, D&D, etc).- What time zone you are in, what day/time you're seeking to play.- If you're looking for a text or voice based game.- What sites/apps you're planning to play on, if hosting.Creating a temporary discord for recruitment is a good way to get persistent contact started.

>>96810979as a Ref or as a player? i got a bundle a while back of 4th ed and realized that my players would rather drag their private parts through burning fiberglass than play it, but i've always liked that world. I'd be down to learn to play even if its an older edition, just probably not Referee since i'd fuck it up badly.
Using this thread to ask a question. Is roll20 a dogshit or a decent place to find groups to play with? It has a feature for finding games and I have not used it since finding one really good party many years ago, sometime years before covid, but I am assuming it's taken a nosedive since.
I'm hosting 13th edition on sunday afternoons/evenings EST. This campaign has been running on and off for almost 10 years now. We have a four and a half person party and open space for two more players. I'm trying to get my players to head to a neighboring region but they are side questing hard in the mountains. The party's marshal recenently rolled a nat1 while skinning a bulette so he caught a case of a unknown greyscale disease so they are forking their path to visit a local dwarven settlement. My game usually has a party dwarf but this game is lacking a dwarf player right now. I think our last few dwarves have been a barbarian, an engineer, a bezerker and an occultist. Maybe our next dwarf player will use one of the fire arm classes like heavy, marine or sniper or the classic ranger. 52 classes, near unlimited races , light hearted sandbox game in a fantasy kitchen sink world. Most of my players learned the rules while playing instead of studying the rulebooks. LMK if you are intrested.
>>96826433roll20 was terrible for finding games for the first 5 years it came out and picked up steam over time. Idk what its like these days but I've had good results from it in the past.
