why does everything suck now?

Why did hexcrawling rules in D&D disappear? Looking at the 3.5e handbooks all you get is travel time in different terrain and different speeds which can easily be mapped to a hexgrid but there are no instructions for the DM on how to do this. Did they just assume that everyone had legacy knowledge about how to run this from having played in old AD&D, B/X and BECMI campaigns? If so it’s pretty dumb, someone who has never played D&D before will have no way of knowing how to run a hexcrawl and people seemed to forget about them until recently with OSR-stuff influencing RPGs from outside that scene.

If you are too retarded to read posts then you should go be a faggot somewhere else.

The style of game that most people play has moved away from hex crawling since probably the early eighties. Some of the Dragonlance modules have hexcrawls that are railroads that just punish the players if they go the "wrong" way. The hobby moved more towards the fun house dungeon and "encounter design" and away from more freeform, sandbox play that hex crawling kind of requires.
-or-
Its possible they the 3e devs were the minority of people who liked, for lack of better term, plot or story focused games, but 3rd edition was so insanely popular that it kind of shifted dungeon fantasy from exploration being an important pillar to being a most vestigial pillar.
>>
>>96778348
skyrim's a dogshit example, there's like a billion mods focusing entirely on survival with tens of millions of hits and even vanilla console babies jerk off the notion of not using fast travel as if it was a badge of honor. the real problem there was the utter lack of agency in every other facet of the game, but that's a topic for another time
>>
>>96778348
>Attention Defecit modern gamers erroneously believe that traveling, surviving, and exploring are laborious wastes of time and unfun
As a GM, it absolutely fucking is a waste of time to roll a bunch of meaningless encounters that add nothing of real value to the campaign, do not serve the goals of the players or their characters, and survival can be boiled down to a few skill checks, and anything more is, again, a waste of time.

The players and their characters already have enough to overcome without a bunch of glup shitto enemies that they'll beat in one or two rounds that only serve to waste their resources so they don't have them for the actually important encounters.

I am not here, once a week, for 3-5 hours, to roll on boring ass random tables so they can stab some wolves. The PCs are the protagonists, and have more important shit to do than kill random wildlife over and over. They have places to go, people to save, and evil to thwart. Unless you're one of those retards who thinks sandbox games are actually good (in which case you're a retard), random encounters have no place in TTRPGs and travel can be boiled down to keeping track of how much time they choose to take based on pace and how many resources they drain rather than Going "OOPS YOU FOUND MORE POINTLESS WOLVES TO STAB!".

I hate orcs. I kill any and all orcs that I can see. I go hunting for orcs. If it were up to me, there would be an orc genocide. I would gather up an army for the sole purpose of killing every orc we come across. Any orc that fights, dies on the spot. Any orc that flees gets run down and cut down. Any orc that surrenders gets dragged to prison and then there would be mass public executions. Gods, my wrath against all orcs knows no bounds. Literally every single one of them must be obliterated until there are none left.

Playing a half-orc is a power move, since it can't be disputed. More if you go "My mother was raped by an orc, that's how I know all orcs are evil, I hunt orcs so what happened to my mother will never happen to another woman."
It's right there, daring people to dispute you.
The power is immense.

That's funny as a joke, once, but the point is that no-one actually wants to have sex with an orc. A man would rather have his cock cut off, it's better than fucking a slampig.
It's same for how the most degenerate whore would rather pack her cunt with shit than fuck an orc.

There's even quality differences between the sables. I just wish I could find out why the tips on all mine lose their sharpness after a couple projects.

Got the last two desert stealth suits painted up, but don't worry because I've got three more to keep fooling around with! Those will be in a dry green color scheme.
I did get a wash medium for the black lining but frankly it didn't really make a difference. It was a bit more efficient than the water but otherwise I didn't feel much of a difference.
I used agrax and camoshade for the xv25.

>There's a saying in business along the lines of "your customers are always right but never know why"
This isn't a business. There are no customers. This is an art project. Compromising artistic integrity for business purposes is what has destroyed the entire gaming industry. This project is fundamentally not commercially viable at its core.

> If you get the same criticism from different people
Consensus filter has no power here.

These people won't even accept the game for free, let alone the fact they have never even attempted to play a game, not even for 5 seconds. They just want to exercise power over the game without any regard for it. It's a destructive impulse larping as positive concern. They won't ever be satisfied until the game is remade in their image.

If they post a picture with the irl cards, and suggest anything more than speculative superficial potshots their input might have weight. Despite this, even the sensical complaints/suggestions from these people have been implemented.

This thread is completely optional, there's nothing for sale, nothing forced on anyone, no stakeholders to appease, and that is exactly why they continue.

Here's another example of a usage of Transmutation:

It's Player 1's turn, they have the Entity "Luffy" on the board, and 2 Orange Energies Frenned with "I Am The Dot".

They have the Entity "Carl Jung" in their Hand, which costs 3 to Project.

How can Player 1 Project "Carl Jung" from their Hand without Projecting another Energy or any other cards from their Hand?

Crabs have a defense mechanism where, in dangerous situations where a potential predator is recognized, they will grab onto each other and lock up to prevent easy predation.

How would you do a fishing minigame in tabletop?

No, seriously. Have you ever tried to put in a mini game into your tabletop game where it's just mostly there for the players to engage and relax in whenever they feel like it? I'm not sure if there's a way to do this, and I'm wondering if this is a strange artifact of tabletop being inferior to video games, or if I'm just not clever enough to think of it.

>That's not correct at all. More intended playtime != more marketability cause if the player doesn't engage with the systems, then there will be less playtime. More playtime != more money either, cause cause single-player offline games with no DLC can have tons of playtime but no way to generate money or marketability.
You really dont understand how shareholders think do you? Games like ubisoft shit appease shareholders to no end because the game has "theoretical" appeal and "theoretical" near endless playtime due to the mass amounts of minigames and scavenger hunt crap.
>That's why they all want DLC, gacha, and hunt for whales.
And what are gacha games if not a bunch of mini games slapped together on an anime girl roulette wheel?
>>96778363
Then it's by definition not a mini game but part of the main game? If its required to progress in the game it's not a mini game.
>>
>>96764488
It would be hard for me to make fishing into a minigame and not an autistic, phoenix command sub-system with mechanics for line breakages, tackle loss, and so on.

>>
>>96778700
>If its required to progress in the game it's not a mini game.
Bullshit. A ton of sixth generation console games have a mandatory "you have to do this minigame once to progress the plot" bit that introduces the minigame but doesn't exhaustively plumb its depths.
>>
I usually approach stuff like that from a character building/RP standpoint. Instead of making up some little mechanic for players to fiddle with I would ask them to describe how their character approaches such a casual, low stakes activity and make up some fun trivia about their character related to said activity, throwing in some questions in case they need help getting started (When did your character learn to fish? What is their preferred fishing method/strategy/tool? Is there a significant or interesting even that happened in their past that involved fishing?). Once everyone involved has had a chance to contribute or wants to move on I would then try and come up with a result that fits in with what everyone put in (methodical PC catches a bunch of fish while PC who uses their bare hands only nabs one but it's the biggest, PC who remembers The One That Got Away catches a similar fish, etc.).
>>
>>96764488
Why in the fuck would I put a fishing minigame in when I could just have them roll a check of some kind and move on with the actual interesting stuff?

Nah, the Melty/Marisha table is going to get the least views simply because it sounds boring as fuck. They overestimate how much people want to see local political intrigue in their actual plays.

Evil rich white families oppressing poor orc communities, plus a corrupt fake church. Oh and someone is collecting items that might be used to transport people to the various culture's afterlife.

At least that's the plot so far, it will probably explode out to some world threatening bullshit eventually. Maybe the angel will escape and go tear open a portal to the primordial realm.

Yeah, Matt can carry the seeker table as long as his character keeps calling out Aabriya's shit. Ashley is a complete non factor RP wise, but she will definitely slow down combat. Alex seems like a good player.

There is no saving the schemer table. Worst character in the campaign Murray, Taliesin playing another freak, personality of wet cardboard Luis, and Liam "That's a natural 20' O'brien.

Haven't played yet, and I don't care about the creator's political views or whatever, the art also is too wacky cartoony for my taste but it's also something easy to bypass by just drawing/imagining my own characters/worlds with the ruleset.

Positives that I have to say:
- the new 6 stats and how they function with HP, skills and your rolls are great.
- armor reducing damage and the players having to dodge or defend every attack is way more fun than D&D's AC.

Can't really say much about the classes, perks and spells so far, but the ruleset feels like an updated B/X, but this time really updated, not just some homebrew over the same things everyone does. I'll try a couple of sessions.

Marines actually aren't even that OP its just typical BL throwing numbers out there like golden age comic writers where one sentence to show how strong they are accidentally makes them OP as fuck beyond belief while other stories have them getting killed by guardsmen with regular combat knives. We know that weapons like or similar to Krak grenades, meltas, plasma guns, lascannons can penetrate power armor so realistcally even 100k marines would not tip the scales especially when Necrons and Eldar exist and are basically equal to marines.
