Apparently you take a certain amount of vitae to the same part alcohol and leave it in a specially prepared barrel after you've mixed it first. This explains the sheer volume of the stuff at the manor.

There were mentions of an appointment with the powers that be to introduce me, but that's it. I've yet to meet any kindred beside my sire, and there's no convenient notebook listing the name and contact details of the local personalities, of course.

What now? First priority seem to be making myself known to the city ruler?Should I try to find other kindreds and hope they're willing to help rather than murder me? Lie low, wait for some acquaintance of my sire to knock at her door and hope -they- are willing to help?
>>

Congratulations on your unexpected bonus lucre. If you ever pass by St. Augustine I should introduce you to Baron Christopher: he always has a job or two for morally flexible Kindred with particular sets of skills like yours.

Hope you continue to have fun. I use a combination of characters and events taken from a tabletop chronicle and a LARP I played in for inspiration.

>>96912495
I'm curious if you can expand upon the first and fifth insights you presented, Monsieur Brainclot.

Story hooks and interaction are always appreciated.

>>96912770
I recommend you look for a haven of your own and gather whatever you can take with you from your current location. If your sire met an untimely end at the hands of an unknown party, they may be trying to find her haven and you don't want to be caught alone. After you've secured a new shelter, you can begin looking for the powers that be to introduce yourself.

How strong is the DA legion trait now?

Before seemed completely useful but they made up for it with detachments
>>
>>96912830
In the right situation is can potentially be impactful
>DA unit lose combat badly
>Still pass their Ld check on a 6
>Can walk out of combat with Disengage
>Leaving them free to turn around and blast their attackers in the face or charge back in
Still niche, but at least it does something.
>>
>>96912493
They’re based on the og mining suits that terminators were built from and require a lot more effort to pilot in exchange for a lot of bulk. Vulkan upgraded them with better reactors and shielding to handle more energy intensive weapons. In game they primarily wield large disintegrator cannons or mechanicum style plasma bombards which are basically plasma artillery guns. They also wield short range particle shredders which I imagine are horrific warcrime weapons. Additionally they commonly have deep strike beacons built in so all but their base variant has an easy time ds

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop minature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

>>
>>96912227
Black Knight
GCE
Sunstalker/Dragon King
DBK
Red Witches
People also recommend Gorm but personally I dislike him visually (tbqh I dislike how every other nq1 looks too, besides white lion)
>>
>>96912216
It gives you the option to start over or to hunt another monster without recovering. You could just go hunt a level 1 white lion if you didn't want to restart. And restarting isn't a loss either, because you get to keep all your gear and your 4 hunting survivors, so you're starting from year 1 with a huge advantage.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I hate Foundry because it's over-complicated, clunky, and because useless things like LOS and dynamic lighting are baked into the product. But, everyone seems to love it. What am I missing? Am I truly the only GM who despises line-of-sight and sound effects and all that video game shit? I don't want to carefully curate an experience, I want to run a game.

I'm sorry some of your players are shitasses, anon. I only play that game through Foundry these days, so we just use the VTT sheets. But way back before Comp/CON I ran the game live, using paper sheets, and it wasn't bad. Maybe you can insist on going analog again, if the screens are becoming a distraction.

>>96900061
Sometimes, it is because saying "this thing happens" will prompt an argument about "but I should be allowed to roll!" And the GM would rather not have that argument. Maybe this isn't even railroading! Maybe the players are just babies. But it is usually about railroading or protecting some pet NPC.
Sometimes, it is because the GM's best friend has been pouring his heart and soul into the session, but the dice keep kicking him in the nuts. The GM wants to give him a win when things are at their most dire. But it is vastly less memorable, less fun, if the GM just says "nah, you hit him because you're cool."
I have never done either of these. But I can understand the temptation.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to early Dungeons & Dragons - less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about. We'll be happy to help you get started on this playstyle.

Theres been pretty considerate anti 2e Trolling/offtopic posting for a long time now. Its just trolls purity sprialling because they think the OSR is only BX, 0e and 1e. ignore it and report it.
>>
>>96912464
The guy who wrote the noob guide is a weird guy who belongs to the BrOSR school of thought (BrOSR basically advocates a much more narrow interpretation of what OSR is), and wrote the whole thing as propaganda, and even has then spent a good chunk of his life trying to pretend the whole /osrg/ signed off on it, despite people constantly pointing out all the things wrong with it. There was even a time when the mods would delete it because the propaganda is actually that obvious that even mods can see it for what it is.

The guy didn't write it to help noobs, he wrote it to try and groom them into his cult. Even the FAQ is almost silly in how transparently unhelpful it is, because instead of answering actual frequently asked questions like "What are some good beginner adventures?" it instead just tries to reinforce his whole central thesis of "Wah wah, 2e isn't OSR, wah wah." It even starts out just by trying to tell noobs not how to start playing OSR, but a rant about how 2e must be excluded in order to preserve the PVRITY. And, if that wasn't enough, he even added an appendix just to further rant about it.
>>
>>96912860
>wrote the whole thing as propaganda, and even has then spent a good chunk of his life trying to pretend the whole /osrg/ signed off on it, despite people constantly pointing out all the things wrong with it.
To be fair, that has been a tradition since almost the very beginning of the OSR. Finch's Old School Primer is filled with propaganda and falsehoods.
>>
>>96912924
Finch really tried his hardest to co-opt the entire OSR, but always seemed to make his big moves 1 or 2 years late.

>mulligan
>cheap bandaid mechanism
Almost every game benefits from a mulligan rule, as almost every game is influenced heavily by the opening hand. If you're at a huge disadvantage from the beginning of the game, the game isn't very fun. If you can mulligan and still be losing at the opening hand, that's on you as a deckbuilding fail.
>>
>>96911369
>I just hope they can drive the value into the chase cards to keep decks cheap, which seems to be the goal of most recently launched tcgs.
I wonder if this actually damages the games sales. While I love decks being cheap, I've found that I have no interest in opening packs if the only hits are hyper rare 1 per 100 pallets shit.
>>
>>96912852
>I've found that I have no interest in opening packs if the only hits are hyper rare 1 per 100 pallets shit.
If this is what you are feeling then it stands to reason there's many more of the same mind. What that means is no one buys products, only singles. Why not? If all I need is the 1 of 100 packs card, why gamble if there's no other valuable hits? This means stores sell less and less until they can't justify the shelf space for junk no one wants. This is repeatedly happening all over, so don't think your game is exempt.

Do you think the Imperium let the Guard have access to sex servitors like how old European navies let their sailors have sex dolls or Dutch Wives on their ships?

Is that too big a luxury for a shitty guardsman? Or is this exactly the "a bullet costs more than a human life" kind of scenario where a decraniated man or woman being a lovedoll is enough of a tiny morale boost that the Imperium rubbestamps the cost?

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image (follow the URL to get to a folder with some files, read the files to get to the archive). Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: What do you want there to be in the additional 27 pages of the new Basic Set?

Depends on what you mean by far less.
If you wanted to play 2025 CoD in 2000 you would have needed to get your hands on one of these super computers. Conversely, our current super computers can do shit the 2000s couldn't even dream of.
Current day gamedevs are certainly less skilled than 2000's cutting edge computer scientists, but the same is true today, and they're probably less skilled than 2000's gamedevs too.
Perhaps you could represent this by accomplishing things being easier, thus the tools' users' need to be less skilled. If this was a societal trend then advances in Tools could lead to stagnation in Skills, leading to relatively the same outcomes.

As much as people like to complain about how bad videogames are today I don't think we're there yet. Yes modern day videogames are bloated beyond belief, but they're also, as a whole, significantly better than 2000's vidya.

Nope, sorry can't even begin to agree with you there. Maybe if we're talking long running series that have been continuously iterated on by their original developers. But the overall quality of your average game has dropped a lot.

Since /osrg/ has collectively decided 2e doesn't belong in their thread which is fair enough, I thought we could start a thread of our own for it since there are many wonderful settings and rule changes to discuss!

All 2e-related topics welcome here, post your homebrew kits, talk about Spelljammer and classic Forgotten Realms, let's hear those campaign anecdotes!

To kick the thread off, what's your favorite 2e tie-in novel?
