Ja2 (vanilla, and the older 1.13 versions, were not that hardcore in this regard). And neither is JA3. Its a good game, and i would call it a spiritual successor to Ja2 for sure, but not to the 1.13 mod in its current state.

Sup /tg/,I'm starting on a 5E West Marches online campaign. The current group of characters are mostly CHA-based casters (warlocks, sorlocks, a sorc/pally, and a divine soul sorc) with a fighter/wiz gish and a ranged rogue sneak in there. What are some non-CHA builds that might fit in well, that are actually fun to play (i.e. not wildshape druids lol)?
>>96911015There's still a party in west marches you fucking idiot. I bet you thought you were so smart typing that out. I can just see the smug expression on your ugly face. Yes, you still have a party in West Marches. Just because different groups of PCs adventure in different sessions doesn't mean there isn't a "party." Would you rather I say "group" or "troupe" or "company"? You don't know anything even about troupe-style play. You don't even understand the point of what West Marches is for. It's not just "lol randumb drop-in game because all my players are too busy having gay polyamorous relationships and working odd shifts at their low-tier wagie jobs to show up consistently" it's supposed to take ADVANTAGE of that style of play for downtime activities and slower healing to encourage playing multiple characters. Plus competitive play between different subgroups.
>>96911041I stand corrected. I never really thought about it being done as a troupe style thing as I've only ever participated in a more open world type of thing instead. That being said, you are still a cunt. As much as I agree that meme train can be cancer at times, I've seen plenty of groups where the local shitposter was also capable of wielding that same energy and forging the best, serious stakes out of the players.

Speaking of Avenger and Inquisitor, did I miss anything with my hb? https://scribe.pf2.tools/v/M89l6Vvf
How exactly are the PF2e Undead Archetypes meant to work if they’re all second level feats and you have to die in very specific ways for any of them to be usable per RAW? Are they just point-blank unusable if you’re not starting at second level or higher? Why did Paizo even publish them when they mostly just suck?
>>96914886They're more meant for narrative purposes. You aren't supposed to start as an undead, you're supposed to take them after shit happens to you in the story that turns you into an undead. They got published because Paizo is retarded.
>>96914886>Why did Paizo even publish them when they mostly just suck?Because they were published more as an obligation to be able to say they existed, rather than as real options you are meant to actually want to use. Their use case is either>you start at level 2+>your GM just houserules that you have the effect at level 1 and it eats your level 2 feat slot (or FA feat slot) when you level up>you get it as a bonus feat as a result of dying>your GM is an asshole and makes you pay one of your feat slots to have it when you die to a random critical hit
2000 years before the start of my setting the only real races to exist was elves and orcs but one humanity came like the sea peoples of our world. they came in ships to raid the coasts and torch elven kingdomsafter the humanity was done raiding elven lands they formed 3 major factions which lead to the war of wills. A Greco roman faction ruled by solar rex the king of the sun, A Persian style faction ruled by a sha and the last a faction of germanic celt people. of course the greco roman faction wins after the war ends with a the greco roman victory humanity begins to conquer the frontier lands beyond the coast but their legions have to fight elves, dragons, dwarves and other fantastical beastsafter 700 years of rule the empire begins to fall apart into 4 factions that wish to claim the title of solar rex but after the collapse of the empire the frontier lands are abandoned due to elf raids and beasts attacking deep into human territory sorry its a very rough draft
>>96908131Why are humans fighting against elves and dwarves? Sounds like some tryhard tourist shit.
>>96908131This feels like it tries to be original, and it fails.
>>96908131You're not writing a fictional atlas, you're writing a game setting.Your first question should be - does this background help good gameplay? Does it provide story hooks, does it help give fun and meaningful characterization? Does it suggest mechanics?

>>96906797Sadly, I am yet to play a game where my DM focuses on travel. I only did that. In the campaign I ran, most of locations the party needed to go was at least a week away. Players switched environments and PCs with survival/knowledge skills actually mattered (we play 3.5e)
>>96906797There was an abandoned keep at the top of a mountain and gold was hard to come by so we set out to commandeer the stronghold as a base of operations in the surrounding region. We had to manage meager resources to survive the trek but we were rewarded with a vital stranglehold on the region, able to preview advancing armies and the wanton rampaging monster down below. We spent the entire campaign turning the keep into a bustling center of power and ruling over the region. comfy
