>>97823064Nice inspect element rajesh. kek
>>97822479This is completely nonviable for so many reasons. It takes time and mental effort to learn how to play a game, and about three times that amount of both to learn how to GM it. Unless you're pirating everything you play or are exclusively playing obscure free RPGs like Risus, almost every system you can play costs money, as well. Only the kind of autist who actually cares about this hobby to spend time on a board like this are actually going to be doing things like consistently seeking out different RPGs, buying them, learning them and then trying to find people willing to play them, and all of that is much harder than convincing people to go play a new video game or something with a lot less mental effort involved instead. Playing a campaign is often the only way to get people to stay invested in an RPG in the first place without immediately dipping out, because playing a campaign maximizes the amount of time spent actually playing as opposed to all the other bullshit that learning to play an RPG entails.

I think that more games aught to feature ducks. Post ducks to remedy this
A duck inspired Kang the conquerer which in turn inspired Spider-Man and the Hulk being created. Also Ming the merciless and Genghis Khan irl. This goes all the way back to Adam of Adam and Eve fame. Ducks are behind every great human moment. Think about it. God has a bill.

Solo RPGs are a lot easier to play than I thought. A lot more fun too. I did a test run scenario the other day where I was a mech rampaging in a city fighting police and the military. Now I just need to figure out how to make quests lines and stories.
>>97819395tbqh, I find combats really easy and fun. non combat is the harder brain power part that can easily fall into boredom if not done well.
>>97819607what system do you play
>>97808942I don't own a d20. Now what.
>>97821392Systems*I have noticed this broadly meant. Recently I have been playing Barbarians of Lemuria and Warhammer: the Old world RPG, but a further bit ago I also Played Scarlet Heroes (OSR DND with careers specifically more tailored to solo play) as well as a few others. And through out all of them combat seems to be easier to do. maybe because you have a clear procedural order and usually clearer goals and you have to make up less shit on the fly. Its like setting up a game board and playing out the factors involved with only one or to surprises in store. While I find social stuff and exploration a bit more nebulous and less clear cut, which is made so much more challenging without having someone else to play the part of the behind the scenes, knows all the major factors involved, game master. You have to make up most of the factors on the fly rather than getting a rough sense of them before hand. Maybe using timers and Solo tools would help, but I find that they often feel a bit forced and unintuitive. IDK maybe I should try them again. All and all just takes more creative juices without all the inspirational factors and ability to fall back on procedure that is involved in combat.

Serious question: What value do slaves actually have to your average PC? Like, I've never seen any PC / group actively engage in slavery because there never seems to be any substantial reward worth the effort. It's like crafting or running a business, there's just no *point* in engaging with the mechanics because the rewards are puny. How could you make it actually appealing to players? It's not like they can load up a ship and sail off to the ivory coast.
>>97807822So farmers who sell food for money and aren't slaves.
>>97808048why would that push anyone? what does that mean?
>>97808048well?
>>97814624>Sure, each human is individually weaker than the giant they serve, but that's always been the case for slavery, a Spartan hoplite was stronger than his helot slaves but he wasn't going to till the fields. It was roughly the same amount of work for either. Farming was an actually meaningful amount of labor for a Spartan that he didn't want to do. For a giant, the labor the slaves can spare them is utterly negligible. Digging a pit or filling buckets of water should take minutes. It's like getting slaves to tie your shoes. Ridiculous and stupid.

Welcome to /2eg/, a thread dedicated to all things 2nd Edition D&D related - including settings, lore, modules, and derived systems (Alternity, Buck Rogers XXVc, For Gold and Glory, Hackmaster, Myth and Magic, and more).Since 2e draws heavily from earlier editions, older modules are welcome too. Other media derived from AD&D (such as Infinity Engine video games) also has a home here. It's what you play, not how you play it. RAW or homebrew, as long as your table is having fun, there's no wrong way to play. There's a surprisingly complete 2e fan wiki for rules stuff, it's excellent for quick reference:https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Advanced_Dungeons_%26_Dragons_2nd_Edition_Wikiad&d 2e archiveaHR0cHM6Ly93ZWIuYXJjaGl2ZS5vcmcvd2ViLzIwMjUwMjA0MTczNzUwL2h0dHBzOi8vdGhlLWV5ZS5ldS9wdWJsaWMvQm9va3MvcnBnLnJlbS51ei9EdW5nZW9ucyUyMCYlMjBEcmFnb25zL0FEJkQlMjAybmQlMjBFZGl0aW9uLw==Remember to keep things civil.Thread Question - why the 2e hate?
>>97822879I mean I guess. Seems kinda pillowfisted to me
>>97821816You won't get any disagreement from me that Dark Sun's adventures are shit lol. I stocked my sandbox with stuff like B4.I'm very familiar with the changes between 1e and 2e (especially Gold for XP) and how they change the game's incentive structure. My contention is the changes are no more significant than something like ACKS or LotFP, and that 2e does still support that classic style play and even released products adventures towards it! In my eyes, significantly increasing the dungeon exploration speed does was less to change the style of game than stuff like LotFP's overhaul to the fighter. Dungeoncrawling and hexploration is definitely a minority playstyle in 2e, but it is still supported.
>>978221121 isn't really working, I see no reason why 2 will work any better. 3 would just be scaling up the existing problem, since I don't think schizo is even the only guy who has trolled /osrg/ to try to get it bring 2e back in. Sadly, I don't really see any resolution for this.>>97822236My issue is when I want to talk about the modules in 2e that are actually good in the context of a classic-style hexcrawl in /osrg/, I'm only going to get hit with thoughtless "2e is not OSR" shit.
>>97821799>>97822611>>97822620Dude, me and this other guy aren't just the same person samefagging, I promise. I've even posted an image to try to prove it, though, admittedly, yeah I could have just edited the page I guess?I'm not "pretending to be reasonable", I'm legitimately trying to act in good faith here. Not necessarily because I think the guys who have taken over /osrg/ are genuine. I've caught people over there doing some really duplicitous shit. I'm trying diplomacy because the two sides of this argument haven't accomplished anything by throwing their turds at eachother for the past half year. Myself included, I'll admit that I've been part of the insults in the past. I've definitely seen /osrg/ posters acting in bad faith, but I don't think every single guy crossposting from there is doing so or is part of what still looks to me as brigading.Again, I am on your side, I want 2e back in /osrg/. However, you being indiscriminately paranoid and accusing everyone trying to be civil of be a secret /BROsr/ agent just makes our case look worse. I just want a solution to the past six months of fighting, so I can post about my stuff without receiving a "2e is off-topic" or having to wade through hours of trolling and counter-trolling like keeps happening in the alternative threads.
>>97823130This falseflag persona is your worst one yet. Trying to gaslight people while doing "both sides are equally bad" shit that relies on troll lies.Your 'i'm just being civil' shit doesn't fool anyone, especially when it's back and forth with an equally "civil" troll, repeating the same lies. Calling you out isn't being indiscriminate, it's looking at obvious clues and actually applying what you just said yourself. The trolls really love duplicitous shit.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be an un-orkified War-Trukk, like how a lot of AdMech vehicles are uncorrected versions of Chaos Daemon Engines.
>>97820501Perhaps, I kinda forgot about the Half Trukk that FW made years ago
>>97820355It could have made sense, in a parallel dimension where GW had long established that different guard regiments with clearly defined equipment and vehicle restrictions exist. There, it could just happen that a regiment simply has no access to chimeras, so they need a transport and for whatever political or logistical reason, they are supplied by a forge world with an STL for that particular vehicle. But GW never bothered to flesh their regiments out like this, so this will just have to be your head canon, or you ignore the new transport. I'm certain guard is playable without it just fine for years to come. In regards to the command vehicle. I agree that it looks nice, but a chimera chassis salamander command tank would have done the trick as well.

Gearhead thread but for /tg/Part of why I like to play ttrpg's is the analog aspect. I prefer to keep all digital things out of the experience. No laptops, ipads, phones at the table. Well, an exception can be made for googling something quick, but other than that, keep that shit in your pocket.I like to do my gm prep, world building, drawing maps, in notebooks. npc and character sheets etc.on paper.I really like MUJI stationery. Their notebooks are really nice, and their pens and pencils are amazing.I recently found some hex paper notebooks on amazon. That was really nice to use to draw some hex maps.Do you have any neat stationery or other analog "gear" that you really like? Could you share some of your cool items or showcase your note taking system or maps or whatever?
Don't don't make stationeries like this where I'm from, so fragile, so refined

I got myself a binding machine so that I could print out pdfs and have physical stuff at the table. It's a good way of saving money if you tend to hoard a lot of pdfs but don't want to constantly shell out for things you don't know if you can get to the table. Also very satisfying to use.
>>97817757Nobody likes you, zoomoid. Attending a social event only to sit absorbed in your little pocket narcissism validator, dragging down everyone else's enjoyment and disrespecting their time is cunt behaviour that nobody else likes and, ultimately, destroys groups. That's why I host five game nights a month(4 wargaming nights, one RPG session) in my home game room and literally had to implement a waiting list because so many from the local club wanted to come, while the RPG groups that try to form *at* the club which has no rules prohibiting faggots from preening themselves endlessly collapse within five sessions.
