>>97281003>>97281030These ones especially piss me. These are grown ass men and not a single one of them could be assed enough to take the initiative and paint that MDF. it's literally a 20 minutes job to glue on some grit, spray prime, then dry brush. Fucking pathetic, I hope these men aren't husbands and fathers

Have you ever roleplayed a female character?
>>97234966I've played with three different trannies and only one of them was an ok player (but still too quiet). The other two were a drama queen and a retard who constantly needed help with everything.
>>97234966Yes, we're easily the best players
>>97234966Only ones I've run games for have been consistently>overbearing about their character build even in games that don't have character builds to the point of just declaring their dnd generic race existed in the game world >didn't understand the rules very well if at all >direct to murder hobo more than anyone else, ready to perceive slight at anything irl or in game>constant references to irl media They're just what we would previously have called spergs. Tabletop games have always had them, they just have a more leveragable social excuse currently.
>>97234966I have one player in an online game I'm convinced is trans (or at least deep into the identity BS) and they're, like, fine. They pay the 2nd most attention despite being on call during the game and the fact they want to fuck everyone means they actually engage with the NPCs on some level. The bard player in my high school game that trooned out was an annoying loudmouth and only got louder after they trooned, as in literally yelling shit at the top of his lungs at random. I do not really miss playing with him at all.

>>97276958Thanks. I've been collecting them all, but particularly I've been trying to get the old templeguard and just the regular Saurus with spears and other weapons and the alternative metal skink archers and javelin throwers, along with the champions. However, I agree, who in their right mind would stock those? In plastic, they're so abundant, but I just was abit crazy and wanted to get as many as I could to build up variety in my ranks. One thing I have are the skink cold one riders from Dogs of War, I wonder if he would want those.Someone else must have RT chaos marines, because I see them around here and there, and there's no way they're all legit. Maybe.

Do you include seasonal changes in your campaigns when time goes by?If so, what do you implement int the world to showcase the changing seasons?I personally include sea raiders who begin assaults on the kingdom's shores in spring and through summer, who then return to their homeland in fall to winter it out. So essentially a raiding season for my world's vikings, like in real history.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWc0DvoY6qw
>>97276332The fuck do you mean? Do people not do this?
>>97276332I don't remember the last time I had a campaign last more than a few ingame months except for the ones that took place in extreme climates where seasons don't really exist beyond a temperature change
>>97276586I actually had no fucking clue what you were talking about with T2K until I thought about it for five minutes and realized it takes place mostly in the summer after the war. I would kind of like to play that game in the winter of 2001, though you'd have to do a lot of homebrew lore the cover six months of very dense history. Second edition revision sucks by the way
>>97278019>I actually had no fucking clue what you were talking about with T2KI suspect you still don't, there's much more beyond what you've apparently barely read in the time between me mentioning it and you posting that. I'll give you more time to research, my nogames friend.
>>97277967Judging by the answers in this thread, its more common than you'd think for people to not include seasons

Yet every other depiction of Set is him being a pissy tantrum throwing retard who could fight his way out of a paper bag.My only conclusion is that he's some sort of inferalist with a wyrm connection. & when he wants to fight Mummies & the forces of good health gets a massive power upgrade
>>97281112The issue with the infernalist angle is that Mummies operate on True Faith rules. Set would be double-screwed by 2 weaknesses to faith, being an infernalist vampire.
I want to get into TTRPGs, but have only one person I can force into this. What are some good TTRPGs that work well with two people? Ironsworn? I see some recommendations of that. Any advice for a first timer? Would be the one one running the game as well.My only experience in this 'field' is running RP guilds in World of Warcraft.
>>97280654Furthermore, it would be preferred if the game, for this first time, is a bit more simple. Just to dip our toes in. See how it is.

I would like to talk about the Chronicles of Darkness game line Deviant: The Renegades, or more specifically, one major upcoming supplement. Deviant was released in late 2021, and has had three additional sourcebooks since then. A new supplement, Black Vans, has been in playtesting for a while, and is currently being previewed.I am not being paid or sponsored to promote this book in any way. I am just very fascinated by it, and indeed, I already ran a mini-campaign using the playtest material.Deviant is, by default, a game about playing angsty, scarred superheroes who either fight world-manipulating conspiracies or work for them. Black Vans is a toolkit full of variant rules, quick NPC creation, variant character types, and variant genres. These variants range from the minor to the dramatic, completely overhauling what were once non-negotiable, foundational themes and mechanics. Maybe your character is not angsty or scarred at all, perhaps they are a """""regular human""""" like John Wick or Batman, or the campaign might have nothing to do with world-manipulating conspiracies. These variant genres include cyberpunk, high fantasy, post-apocalypse, space opera, and superhero emergence. This is a beefy supplement. For example, one chapter alone dedicates 38,000+ words to playing other monsters of the Chronicles of Darkness: Beasts, changelings, demons, Sin-Eaters, hunters (entirely separate from the variant rules for """natural""" superpowers), mages, mummies, Prometheans, vampires, and werewolves. No additional supplements beyond Deviant are necessary; the rules are self-contained, allowing the group to play a monster mash of an urban fantasy setting without needing a daunting 7+ books. And yes, they are supposed to be balanced against one another, so a vampire in the same group as a full-fledged mage is probably some older Kindred.(Continued.)
>>97270670Well, Black Vans is up on the Storytellers Vault.https://www.storytellersvault.com/en/product/550535/black-vans
>>97275389Edna you beautiful autism machine, I've barely cracked into the PDF of the core book and my physical copy won't be here for several days, besides which I have a CoC game and a Cyberpunk Red game that are going to happen before anything else, so this'll be a ways out. That being said, from what I've read so far and what y'all have been posting about, I'm hoping for something akin to hyperviolent, body horror version of the Secret World of Alex Mack.
What are the mechanics of the system? It's running storyteller i presume? I don't know anything beyond it being Xd10
>>97277915bump
>>97217964>>97217974How do existing Conspiracies ala Hunter the Vigil fit in with these? I bet the Cheiron Group have made a few accidental Tyrants in their time.

>>97276542>have you considered supporting the player transforming into one of themNo but the succubus has her own Corruption table. Other than that, that's more for homebrew especially considering how succubi and incubi work in Labyrinthus>All it would really take is having XP costs for the relevant traits and feats, and maybe a frameworkThat's a lot of work, balance-wise, especially if you read the succubi and vampire Traits>maybe a framework to better come up with the rituals to do it The framework is Oracles+Imagination. You don't always need the game to tell you what to do, just get the idea and go>a journey to become a THE Tentacle MonsterThere are many ways to mutate, mostly through corruption. Mutagens are left vague so you can come up with something. Or make a homebrew. Most of the stuff I add is often something suggested which is simple, but if it's complex either it requires me to put effort OR to use homebrews as inspiration and currently I'm focusing on testing and making sketches. if you want to can post your ideas in the discord so you can also test them and have other test them too>I was about to download the latest updateI hope you still had downloaded the update
>>97263091Damn any interesting stories from it?
>>97263913It is what it is. I was sorta achievement hunting at that point, the character had become pretty strong (being a vampire is actually pretty great, at the potential risk of a death spiral if you ever get captured/defeated) and I had just arrived at the Fae Forest to learn a ton of magic, since the free massive Magic you get as a vampire had been pretty underused so far. >>97279597Going off of memory here, when she visited the city her first sewer mission (the homebrew one) went about as poorly as it could've gone without her straight up getting defeated. She had to escort a city official down to a blockage and on the way she almost got defeated by like... three slimes. Because she relied mostly on blocking and so the acid + slimed debuffs were stacking up on account of poor rolls. If she didn't have the clean spell she might've lost there, which would've been insanely embarrassing as she already killed an Orc Boss in his stronghold at that point. Then she encounters a pair of sewer crocs at the mission's objective which messed her up, shredded her armor into nothing and by the end she was at half health. This was all made much worse since I ruled early on that if a vampire feeds while escorting an NPC, they gain +5 Vigilance reduced by 1 per success on persuasion, so I was trying to avoid drinking meaning no healing for free after combat. The problem compounded when she ended up saving a kidnapped girl on the way back. By the end she got like +6 vigilance from the two NPCs seeing her feed and was butt naked.

>>97279136>I don't recall how it goes in ItOSimilar but deadlier. Failing a critical damage roll means you're out of action until someone else gets to you and you have a short rest to restore HP. If no one gets to you in an hour you're dead. Sounds like the Miami 86 helping each other up is faster and fits the fleshwound action run and gun vibe. Combat in ItO can get very deadly very quickly if enough party members get hit and taken out of action. Tends to result in TPK or a few survivors running away in my experience. Might try the 86 method next time.
I'm looking to run Dead Weight for Mothership as an introductory one-shot. Does anyone have experience in tracking/progressing time as the ship falls apart? I'm particularly aware that as written Renato’s body breaches the reactor two hours after the incident. I'm leaning to have this occur about halfway through the night, with the activities needed to jettison the pearl artificially eating up in-game time so the climax at the seventh hour comes at a faster real team pace. However, having the player's work up until that point undone is a bit of a risk.
>>97280269It makes sense. ItO wants you to avoid combat as much as possible, M86 really wants you to get a shoot out with the cops. There's also rules for chases, very small, but they're there and you get some example cars and boats so you can use them as reference. It's a nice ItO clone, nothing crazy, but covers some bases in case you didn't know how to approach them and has some nice inspo. I also got it from the share thread so it's a lot for free.
>>97280484Secret countdowns never worked for me. You could go the BitD route and have a pizza slice clock on the table, more gamey and players can act accordingly to clear canonical information.I usually lie a bit because anything you do to inform them of stuff they shouldn't use to decide is gonna break immersion. At that point just make it as dramatic as possible.
>>97280484try narrating knock-on environmental effects like stuff detaching loudly in the distance or have a fire break out and an alarm go off. if they spend time investigating, give them a fair estimate of time left.

the paid dm defenders have always said they help people with no friends, but the last few months they are being promoted as>fun for friends>give your dm a break>let your group try a new systemim talking ginny d, reddit, forum posts, irl in-store. in all seriousness will people fall for this instead of having one of their friends dm
>>97280367I don't know if they have the same effect. I'm sure someone at some point is saying >my paid GM did it betterto their friend who had an awful time trying to learn a system with no help from the players. But actual plays create the illusion of normality, if you pay you know it's not normal. People don't compare a home made meal with a restaurant dish, if you friend knit a sweater you're not comparing it with a store bought one, if you grow a tomato just being edible will impress you.
>>97280753>People don't compare a home made meal with a restaurant dish, if you friend knit a sweater you're not comparing it with a store bought one, if you grow a tomato just being edible will impress you. While your comparisons are correct, I can say that I have heard from a DM friend of mine that there are indeed people that say things like "Why can't you be like [x]" or "This isn't how [x] would do it".when comparing their current game to another one they're paying for. And while they could be lying, I do see quite a number of places online that seem to convey the opinion that DMs basically exist to cater to the players, and not to take a specific role in a group game, so a paid dm experience might be seen as more...I don't want to use the word normal, let's say more [expected] than you or I want to believe.
>>97280641If we're gonna talk seriously, I think a big part of GMing is setting the tone. Be it roleplay heavy, interaction first, over the top, the GM is talking more than most players so how they present things and what they reward with attention will guide everyone else into what type of "fun" the session is meant to bring.
>>97280804That really sucks, dude. Your friend has my condolences. There might be bias that I think has been brough up, the type of player that can only play if they pay usually aren't that nice to have around.
The store owner used to slip me some cash under the counter when my game grew to 20+ people every Wednesday. He said Wednesdays started being his 2nd most profitable day of the week. I burned out though after 6 months, it's just too many people even with multiple dms.
