previous: >>97290097Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/h8Tz2ze8Survey results: https://pastebin.com/YJPZ44rqThread Question:what is your stonemaier-tier concept for a sure money board game megahit?
>>97347088>really great game and very well designed,Die in a fire. There's almost no meaningful decisions to be made. At the start you can race people for the bonus cubes, between launches you sometimes have meaningful choices between the cruises you can draft, and the rest of the game is just checking boxes. Most of the boxes can be checked at 2 (or 3) different places but one of them is obviously correct for whatever else you're doing. And if you took just the meaningful decisions and packaged them into a (much) shorter game no one would buy it because it would still be a lackluster experience. The only thing Galactic Cruise has going for it is it's production value.
>>97344091Speaking on the current edition big box, I think it's a good package. You get expansions 1 and 2, which many basically consider part of the base game, so you would likely want to get them anyway. I never play without 1, even when testing a new expansion. 2 is also great. The minis are basically a bonus and let you add more variation in small steps as you like. Past big boxes had more regular size expansions, but I don't think this one loses out in comparison. What is a bit of a bummer is that you don't get more than six player colors. I really like purple and grey from my 2014(?) big box.
>>97346961they're different games. CC is more of a euro with deck building, and Imperium is more of a "card game". if you prefer Imperium's theme I would just go with that, there's a ton of content you won't get tired of it any time soon
>>97344088Trying to find a good building synergy every run gives it some good staying power. It also has some personality to it with the theming which makes it stand out from other abstracter games. Some more buildings wouldn't hurt but alledgedly an expansion for it is in the works. If your friend would enjoy light engine building with pulpy robot murder I'd say go for it.
We were missing quite a few folks tonight and ended up playing The King is Dead a few times. I had such a great time when we got into the groove. I saw one of them going for an Invasion victory about midway through and called them out as a French spy. We had some laughs, and the French did indeed invade. Feels good to game.
Any good RPGs for doorkicking combat? Something kinda slick but hyper lethal, letting the PCs take down most mooks pretty quickly but always having the chance to lose it all with poor tactics. I've been running RED and it feels a bit pillow fisted but my group is afraid of RPGs from before the turn of the millennium
>>97347467God damn it, I was going to say "whatever you do, don't trust anyone who tells you to use Delta Green," but I thought, stupidly, "no, no one is enough of a moron to recommend DG." Well, way to go, you proved me wrong.
>>97347569Ok?
>>97347315Infinity 2d20 works. You'd have to adjust a bit the PCs, but even then, the PC are just as squishy as the NPCs
>>97347478This actually reminded me of Millennium's End
>>97347496>if I ever write a system I'm calling it thatI chose Action Movie: The Game! for mine.
This game had such a kino setting. What is a good system to play a kung-fu RPG that involves a lot of punching?
>>97344686Always assume fa/tg/uy and not ca/tg/irl. Unless they post pics of their warhams and it's Tyranids.
>>97347428do chicks play tyranids? I always heard tau were the preferred faction
>>97345039>>97347258There's no problem about complaining about such things in ameta thread, and taking things up to the mods, who are the ones who could actually help your case. The problem is the rampant harassment and shitposting in every single thread, that's what pisses people off. First there's the arbitrary ideas of what is relevant, perfectly on topic threads are still attacked, so the internal rulings of such posters' minds are not consistent, this makes their opinion less worthy of being considered. Then there's the accusation that such threads are made by...someone, sometimes the mods themselves, sometimes some other boogeyman, to generate traffic. Ok, could even make sense, could even be seen as a problem by some I guess, but then the answer is to...engage in such threads repeatedly to generate more traffic? What's the plan here?We move to the next problem, the general abrasiveness towards pretty much everyone. Basically every single poster that is not bitching at the concept of the thread existing is accused of being in on the mysterious conspiracy, even the ones that are just minding their own business and discussing something. That's not winning any friends. And we have the fact that said posters are not practicing what they preach, because for all their obsession about games being discussed, they often (always) fail to do so, or point at threads and posts that are good to show a frame of reference. Is it really a surprise that such posters are seen as a nuisance at best? They complain about a problem they perceive, but they do nothing to solve it, and actually end up creating another problem that makes the situation worse, not better. This on topic thread was created, they didn't like it, someone assblasted created a bunch of others. Were they the same guys complaining, acting passive aggressive? How does that help? Was it someone else that saw them react like that and wanted to piss them off? If they didn't chimp out it wouldn't have happened.
>>97347559I dunno anon, when you see 10 threads all made within an hour asking similar questions, using sentence fragments or 2-3 lines of green text at best, its pretty clear it is a single person, perhaps even 1 or 2 others working in tandem, making them. For what purpose, I wont speculate. And then when people call those threads out for being spam, and they get the same 2-3 replies bemoaning generals and backseat modding and demanding to get on subject for a thread with no actual subject, its again clear its the same offender(s).Basic pattern recognition is a lost art.
>>97347584Anon, for all I know the guys spamming in these threads are the ones making them, because they moan about the thread being made to generate traffic while generating traffic themselves, no way to prove one thing or the other anyway. Something we can see with our eyes is that bitching at everyone else is not helping their case, and their actions actively go against their stated goals. If they are genuinely worried about this trend, I'd suggest they change their strategy.

Darwinian evolution and adaptation is a decent model to use for culture as well, and we can clearly see evolutionary dead ends (I'm looking at you, pandas) and remnants that offer neither any particular advantage or disadvantage (tail bones in humans, for example). Additionally, lower caste humans (and their culture) are essentially domesticated and husbanded by technology and the higher caste humans (who are in turn parasited by bankers), which causes selection to occur which favors subservience over raw reproductive fitness.

>>97345567There's all sorts of things out there. Even the Loup aren't mere horrors that disdain the Blood for ancient slights, if you ever dream of the wolves, make sure you get you and yours away.Ancient dead in Egypt, more conventional ghosts, devils, angels that have a disconcerting closeness to those aforementioned devils, things that defy labels and haunt the dark. Remember meeting one nightmare in a corn field that was like... A person without a face. Standing there menacingly. Fey, or rather, Sidhe? I only knew one person who spoke about them. Teddy, actually. Short Gangrel, frenzies left him with more fur than skin. Apparently after consuming too much blood from inebriated folk down in New Orleans during Mardi Gras he met with a band of dancing frogs who let him into one of their safe havens. I could inquire for more details? Soon as we have our stay in Washington we'll probably just head south for Oregon where he's in hiding.I couldn't tell you if any of that was the truth, only that when he was kicked out, he had another frenzy episode and put on even more fur and fangs.
>>97345567Oh, lots of things are real and out there and could eat you, not sexually. A big one is spirits, mostly living in an otherworld of sorts. Werewolves have this trick where they can go through it to jump out of a puddle of water in your haven and eat you. And they do that shit incessantly if they decide you're a problem, like good God. I nearly got my face clawed clean off by a werewolf who managed to come out of a coffee cup a ghoul forgot to put a cap on. Most spirits don't like you, but they're usually aren't super likely to cause trouble for you. Unless you're like my coterie, in which case your night will sometimes look like the attached picture. That's a were-raven, by the way, those exist. There's also full-on wizards who throw fireballs and shit, were-sharks and were-cats and were-crocodiles, fairies... You'll get a good list of somewhat-major things soon enough, people love to brag about how they've met a mummy and lived. There is a lot of weird things out there, though. Things that either defy classification, or just are so strange that even though they're technically 'just' a fairy, it really feels like something else.Not-men pretending to be human on highways, luring in kind strangers. Living mountains, moving only when nobody's watching, or when you irritate them by coming near nature's holiest places. Covens of witches, occultists, wild mages and practicioners of esoteric arts, who do all sorts of strange things with vitae, and see you as a threat and a source of power. Psychics, who see things even I can't see with all my power, mirthful with their knowledge. Kine possessed by something foul and rotten and new and different every time, shambling about as if their eyelids aren't peeling off or their eyes aren't maggot-ridden. Birds of prey so vast to them you aren't even worth the time to swoop down, 'Kine' that seem entirely normal, up until you realize they're making sure to always face you, because they're flat as paper...
It's my turn to punish Boy Toy for running away with Cope when the ladies needed him the most. I asked uncle if a woman can wear a chokha too and he showed me this picture.I immediately had the ladies of the staff wear this, called Blue Fairy, Mamma, Assoluta and Scarlet, and had the largest lesbian orgy House Venus ever had in Bridgeport. As for Boy Toy, he was immobilized, mummified and buried under my bed with Mamma's kindred-proof gear, and held in sensory deprivation, only able to "watch" our sapphic passions with the help of Auspex, a reminder of his place in the food chain.

The fuck? >>97344439Mmm you’re presenting things poorly to help push your argument. I never don't as long as the player give me stuff that's halfway usable. Two of my games it's been opt-in, the other two I worked with the players to fit their characters into the adventure or build the world around the PCs.
>>97344587>why would anyone without a tragic backstory, greedy personality, or simple neglect would ever want to become adventurer? Some of characters at my table were>A second son of a warlord who just didn't care for war and conquest and fucked off to travel because of wanderlust>A student of some ninja order who was such an asshole he got kicked out to travel the world, get humbled and come back when he's ready to actually learn >An apprentice mage who was raised by an archmage and wants to both raise money and get some worldly experience so he can later open a school >A cleric girl who wanted to explore and document the world and it's dangers and wonders and then make it all into a series of encyclopedias as a cure to people's general ignorance>A 'it belongs in a museum' type of rogueI could go on. None of these are really tragic, truly edgy or very greedy in my opinion. Are they weird? Eh, maybe. It's also worth mentioning that the level of danger one is used to influences how much danger they are willing to accept. In a world where goblin raids, curses, rampant banditry and dragon attacks are common you can expect those subjected to these things to have hardened to them even if there isn't a direct correlation to their personal lives.
One of my friends had a character die in like the third session doing some hero shit. He was cool with rolling up a new one and decided to play someone from the village they were in who has become the squire to another friends character, and even wanted to start at level 1 when we were doing level 3 starts. It's been a few sessions in now and thanks to a little solo adventure he's only 1 level behind the party but said he wanted it that way to keep the "dumb shit from a village who became a squire " feeling. >>97347534Nah, there's quite a lot of empty space in the box. I think you could easily fit both boxes worth of cards (700~) in a single box while sleeved.>>97347549I backed it. Got it shipped through a forwarding service. General sale in March I think? No word on English release.
>>97347563Do you speak Japanese? Do you know how to play?
>>97347592I can't speak Japanese that good, but I can read it decently well.I do know how to play but I have no one to play it with :(

>>97347544I don't have interest in becoming a neet, sorry. Besides, doing house chores, cooking, buying the groceries is easy. Just doing the dishes suck.
>>97347556The hard part is finding someone to support your lifestyle.
>>97347562I feel uneasy thinking about getting a partner. It doesn't seem like a thing I'd like.
>>97345981Fuck. I was not read for that. Feels bad man. KnK will pay her dues, eventually.

I have a bit of an inane question for the peanut gallery. Do you have a favorite thing that you'd never actually play/play as?For example, I just realized that I really fucking love the Samedi/Cappadocian clan/bloodline of Vampire: The Masquerade. But I don't think I'd ever consider playing one, and I'd likely opt to play a Malkavian instead under virtually all circumstances, or a Tremere. Samedi doesn't even register on the list of characters I'd like to play, even when I do have concepts I'd include if I were the ST/GM.
>>97343390An AD&D 2e Paladin. Even if I didn't end up at a table with a DM trying to make me fall, I think I'd end up doing it myself. I'm too rash and impulsive for the class, I think, to live up to the morality required of it.
Over Christmas at about 3am I suddenly had the coolest concept for a cleric of loviatar who I now desperately want to play, but I'm pretty sure any campaign would drop me the moment I said "cleric of loviatar."Just let me be a little edgelord as a treat
>>97343390I like the carefree brutes that just bulldoze through their problems willy-nilly. I never play one, because everything I'd want to demolish is either far out of my character's league or would create 10x more problems for the party than it would solve.
>>97343390I love the idea of Promethean: the Created but it sounds impossible to play with most groups: you'd need literal theater kids that also want to play as a Frankenstein, Golem, etc. on a Pinocchio becomes a real boy quest
>>97343390Man I would love to play Night's Black Agents, but my group would be totally incapable of it. Delta Green was enough of a disaster that it's also gone in my "never again," pile.
