Evening lads, I don’t suppose anyone knows of a trove containing all the old PnP games by The Perfect Captain? I’m mostly interested in their medieval rules/games especially Ironbow II, Strongbow, Princes of the East, In the Shadow of Byzantium, Villehardouin, Alexius 1113 AD etc.Cheers boys, happy new year.
>>97344408Wikipedia will get you participants. As for heraldry, it isn’t that common before the 13th C and even then, we rarely know the arms even for big names. There are usually fictive arms for the earlier period made up in the later middle ages, if you aren’t asspained to the Nth degree about historical accuracy. There is the additional difficulty in that the eastern mediterranean societies the Latins found themselves in did not themselves use arms as in the west, even much later than this - this may have meant that local Latin settlers felt little pressure to take arms as it was not the local ‘fashion’. Sorry it’s a ballache, but I hope it helps. I think it means that you can actually be quite free in your painting without being implausible or even inaccurate.
>>97345263I should have added that the Perfect Captain site (in the OP) hasn’t had working downloads since 2020.
>>97345344I’m an absolute mongoloid, some hero put them in the new trove link. Sorry boyos.

We're going to have to come up with a phrase for the new era of Warhammer 40,000 ushered in by the Amazon TV show, DoW 4 and Total War 40k, and increased market value of Games Workshop.nu40k isn't going to cover it. nu40k is already bad enough for many of us from headier days like 1st through 4th edition. Owing to the natural difficulty of actually getting an asteroid, and the chance it doesn't contain any valuable metals in it, would it still make sense to break them down to use as shielding for permanent space habitats?
>>97345195Absolutely. Asteroid composition is anything but monolithic, as it were, but loosely falls into 3 categories, C, M, and S type. Those are easy to remember since they are short for carbon, metal, and silicate, or stony. C-type, carbon rich asteroids, are the most common, making up 75% of asteroids, while S-type, silicate or stony asteroids, comes in a distant second at 17% , M-type Metallic asteroids are much less numerous. Now when it comes to mining that hardly tells the whole story, M-types are mostly nickel and iron, neither of which we’d particularly want to bring home to Earth, but which would be valuable for building stuff in space. For that matter there are also several sub-types of asteroids and two different classifications systems, and the asteroid belt is anything but the only place you can find asteroids nor the nearest place to find them. It also is not unusual for two asteroids of different types to blunder into each other and merge or to be somewhere in between these types.C-types, the most common asteroid and also the ones that gets ignored a lot in asteroid mining conversations focused on impressing folks with the idea of mountains of gold, are quite valuable themselves. They contain lots of water, which is never a bad thing to find in outer space. But they also contain plenty of life-useful elements and particularly noteworthy is phosphorus. Something that is quite hard to find on Earth in concentration and a major bottleneck on agriculture, so if asteroid mining ever gets heavily developed and cheap, that is the sort of thing we might bring home since it is valuable. Not as valuable as gold or platinum of course, nowhere near, and these big space boulders have a lot of those.
>>97345195it would probably be easier to just mine out the inside and build your habitat in there

>>97345037>rename fallen demons to devilsThat just overlaps with one of the houses. Just calling them fallen is more expedient and gets what they are across: they're fallen angels.
>>97345086>Exactly, far more flexible and you aren't stuck in the underworld. But if you want to play a ghost game, it doesn't scratch the same itch. In my ideal game, wraith's would have easier access to the mortal world and Sin-Eaters would still exist in some form. The Labyrinth and CofD Underworld are the same thing, it's just called the Labyrinth where spectres rule. You either resolve your unfinished business and move on to whatever true afterlife there is, or go deeper and deeper, eventually hitting either Oblivion and non-existence, or the Sea of Fragments and reincarnation depending on what paths you follow.>What would you take from Requiem and what from Masquerade?Caine and the Antedeluvians are still sorta a thing, but it's the origin of a few of the Clans rather than all of them. An edited version of the Book of Nod is a part of the Lancea et Sanctum canon and the Sabbat exist as a small, radical fringe group rather than as a major faction. The Camarilla exists, but the Covenants exist independent of it. Where the Camarilla is strong, they exist under its authority like the government. Where the Camarilla holds little power, one of the Covenants usually fills the vacuum. The Invictus gets retooled as vampire Skull and Bones. Tremere stuff is mostly taken for a Covenant called the Order of Hermes, but the Clan might still exist in some fashion.
>>97345183>Vampire the Masquerade with more sects, inspired by Requiem covenants.Agreed. I feel like Requiem could do with more infighting and political groups. Also the sects special abilities are cool whereas in Masquerade only Tremere are the special ones.>Mage the Awakening's cosmology but with Ascension factions.Meh I wouldn't see a game without the technocracy or Nephandi>Changeling the Lost. No need for anything from Dreaming.I like the Sidhe and the idea of dying myths. Lost takes the horror aspect too far and the Others are so alien to be interesting.>Demon the Fallen. Elements of Descent can be incorporated into Mage instead.Agreed>No need for any variant of Mummy at all. Unnecessary splat.Agreed>Promethean maybe has a place. Beast and Deviant can both go in the trash.Indeed. Honestly beyond Demon, all further splats seem superfluous except maybe Princess: the Hopeful.
>>97344487well if we are listing right now>Requiem and Masquerade fusion more clans, vtr style covenants, vtr style bloodlines for vtm clans>Forsaken especially for the spirits and spirit claimed, but i have featured corax and anasi before>Dark age mage >Dark age Fae>Demon the Fallen using bits from devil's due, the inferno book especially the demons being themed around sins instead of houses and translation guide for demons and infernalism, but angels build like in Descent mixed with weaver drones and spirits for lesser minions. heaven is pure order while demons gained individuality due to sin>both Mummies: the Amenti are egptian immortals (other culture's mummies being of their own culture instead of course) while the Arisen may or may not be pre flood >Vigil>so far neither Geist nor Wraith really came up so i just been using cofd corebook ghosts so far >Promethean exists as do most night horrors and minior splats, but beasts, kuei jin and deviants don't.>Friend keeps begging me to add princesses into the mix, but i haven't given in so far
>>97345185That works too. As an added note, Inferno demons would still exist, but they'd be formed from Torment and often work as the servants of Earthbound. This is largely because I like how Wounds work in Forsaken and would rather divorce morality from the Wyrm, which is itself actively antagonistic towards Wounds because that sort of thing is why it exists. Speaking of which, I lean towards the Wyrm being trapped and going insane do to Father Wolf and the Firstborn sealing it away because it wouldn't stop its banes from running rampant in the material world. The fight made Father Wolf mortal though and all his illnesses and injuries caught up with him, leading to his weakening and downfall. The Triat would be aspects of an amoral and distant Gaia that exist to maintain balance/feed her as she sleeps. The last time things got too out of wack and Gaia woke up, the Permian-Triassic extinction happened.Since I forgot to mention them, Deviant and MtC can stay mostly unchanged too.

>>97344934If I recall, Dungeons and Dragons has its origins in a dungeon dive Gygax and his buddies ran because one of their warbands in an ongoing Chainmail game was deep in the red, and it was a chance to get some salvage money in a hurry.
>>97344934>im broke and wont hold down a job, dungeons pay wellThat works but that is a boring reason and doesn't give a DM much to work with.I like D&D because I like having a say on the narrative so I prefer something that the DM can use in the campaign.
