>>97710652>Protection from monocoloredFuck off with this.
>>97710573I already know this was prompted by him playing discard in B2 then wondering why someone left after Kefka left them empty.
>>97710637I see what you mean, but it is in my best interest finding people who shower and can mumble two sentences together without shitting their pants to play magic with. To this day I reamain unsuccessful
>>97710636Ramp is cheating mana too. Any ramp spell that costs less than 3 per 1 it ramps is too effecient and should be bracketed up.
>>97710573Maybe this is just because Magic is like a back-up, back-up game but I really struggle to wrap my head around how okay the designers are with making these insane discard pieces in a game where you can top deck lands on repeat.
So I read about world of darkness, mostly the werewolf module, and there's something I don't understand: I get that the general idea is that werewolves are really close ot losing because centuries of attacking hapless civilians and barking at the wrong tree have made them easy target for Pendex propaganda, but how does it work on a session to session basis? Are players ever meant to be able to help with the global situation, or is it too big for them?I have trouble imagining how you're meant to make a campaign that ends on a positive note for your players while respecting the World of Darkness' tendency of everything being shit.Picture unrelated.
>>97707039Exactly. That's why I say they have it better. Whatever they did to Epstein before suiciding him, it wasn't enough and he deserved hell.
>>97691269What everyone forgets is that when they're the protagonists of the writing everything is doomed for them. >Werewolf-focused material>Pentex is an invincible leviathan, a trillion headed snake operating across the globe with unparalleled and complete economic and political power with millions of fanatically loyal employees dedicated wholeheartedly to the Wyrm controlling millions upon millions more hapless underlings who eagerly carrying out their orders. Even the tiniest Pentex operation will have total information control over the surrounding area and even the slightest hint of Garou activity will result in battalions of highly trained, combat experience security operators decked out in the latest and greatest military hardware being instantly deployed backed by monstrously powerful Fomori agents capable of wiping out entire Garou packs without breaking a sweat.>Pentex-focused material>You're Dave, junior middle-management for a Pentex subsidy. You work 80 hours a week for shitty pay and worse benefits, your underlings are willing to kill you to move up, your coworkers are willing to kill you to look better, and your bosses are willing to kill you to shift blame. You're currently bribing enough people to look the other way for your illegal chemical dumping that discovery is inevitable. You're not sure what you're dumping just that Phil from Transportation got sprayed with it once and 3 days later he screamed "The King of Maggots is shitting in my brain!" and ripped his face off in the breakroom. Your wife also works for Pentex, the only smile she makes anymore is a rictus grin and you can't remember when was the last time she blinked. Oh, and werewolves are real, they cause schizo episodes just by looking at them, and can eat a tank. They're also wizards. They're coming to kill you and everyone you know. Your facility is protected by one guard named Steve, for insurance cost reasons he is not allowed to carry a firearm.
>>97707829lmaololpoor Dave
>>97707829Come to think of it, the idea of every game being written from the perspective of the protagonist group and all of them seeing the other, rival groups as unstoppable monoliths would work pretty well.Everyone thinks its them that's Utterly Fucked and the other side is doing swimmingly.Except Slashers of course.Slashers don't give no fucks one way or the other.
>>97707829That's kind of how it is already, but I think that that is how things should have been written, full stop.

can someone mentor me on how to make a deck that gets to take a turn
>>97710812couldn't you normal summon morgana, bait with whatever spell to get the negate off the rank 6 then play EVENLY, he'll probably keep the shining sarc if he doesn't negate you but at least you wiped his boardalso decklist? morgana + crafters sounds interesting
>>97710857>morgana + craftersI don't like using archetypes because then it doesn't feel like I'm making a deck, I'm just following a blueprint. My deck is likely incredibly ill-advised.the issue I'm having is even if I wipe the board can't this cunt just do the same thing again? He's running an archetype. Every single card in his deck can lead to 15 card combos. I'm intentionally handicapping myself because I want to have fun deck building and theory crafting but those cool theories just shatter the moment I go against a real opponent and realize if I don't follow a blueprint I'm just fucked I'm trying to brute force fun out of a game

What's the worst -punk aesthetic? Steampunk, clockpunk, what?
>>97707355I'm toying around with my next big setting-building exercise being a sort of skeptical solarpunk. The basic premise would be that 15 years ago, the PCs were cadre in the green anti-capitalist revolution that violently overthrew the old government and ushered in systemic change at every level of society. Means of production: seized. Corporations: dissolved. Wealth: redistributed. Fossil fuels: banned. Go down your wish-list of wet-dream progressive utopia stuff: you get all of it.And yet, despite their revolutionary hopes, the world is not perfect. The resource scarcities that weakened the old regime still exist, exacerbated by ideological constraints. Trade has broken down due to embargos from the surviving global imperialists and squabbling with other revolutionary states. A revolution that promised to share wealth with all now struggles to provide even basic necessities, worsened by a flood of climate refugees that the government seems incapable of controlling. Endless bickering factions in the Central Revolutionary Council vie to one-up each other in ideological purity, while behind the scenes power aggregates to a shadowy bureaucracy ruled by ruthless apparatchiks. The world might have more solar panels and wind turbines, greenhouses and vertical gardens, e-bikes and high-speed rail, but it has less energy, less food, and less freedom-of-travel than what came before. As a Hero of the Revolution, the PCs are entrusted with responsibility over their own small commune of this brave new world. They are the go-to fixers of the community, handling everything from complaints about the bland cafeteria food to rooting out capitalist sympathizers. They have to fight off interference from superiors, disloyalty from subordinates, and discontent from the people in their charge.

>>97709806>Yet another grim deconstruction of solarpunk that insists the monkey's paw must curl in order to effect change for the good of the earth, assuming the changes even stick
>>97709855I mean, yeah? "Yet another" makes it sound like you've seen this a lot, but I can't think of many. My main touchpoints were New York 2140, Disco Elysium, and The Dispossessed, none of which fall too close to the main idea. A big complaint about solarpunk is that it's just an aesthetic, and that there aren't really any stories being told there.Unless you're complaining about "grim deconstructions" in general, which definitely are pretty overdone. I think it's a tough line to walk between thinking seriously about downstream consequences versus just jumping to "everything's shit because humans are shit." But I think it's worth acknowledging that major changes are messy and painful, and that well-intentioned people can disagree about substantial topics. I don't think that's just monkey's paw pessimism.

I am learning a lot watching Nummy play Magic. Bro is actually really fucking good at Magic.
>>97708875play some control and find out first hand how miserable going second against aggro decks is. counterspell fell out of favour in Modern because 1-mana threats got so good that spending a 2-mana card to counter them just puts you behind.control also hates recursive threats, hand disruption, and cards that they can't remove.not very relevant these days but in theory the ultimate counter is unironically being better at the control mirror (always one of the most skill-testing matchups) and being the 'bigger,' more controlling control deck.
Thread QuestionI don't play these formats. But I would like to have all the missing cards added for "Pioneer".

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97710430I have a metricised retroclone (or so) of Chainmail called "Scalemail" that I posted here a couple years back --which evolved eventually into the thing called Battle aXe. (another wargame for B/X) But I didnt know any other clones, otherwise I would have chosen another name. It's bound to be broken at some places as the scope is much larger compared to Battle aXe, anon. I released it after realising that I wont be single-handedly able to playtest all probabilities. But it should be okay, in general. I hope it will be of use to someone someway.
>>97710264>>97710430>>97710490In case anybody is interested, I've uploaded the afore-mentioned "metricised clone of Chainmail" called Scalemail from 2015ish here:https://www.sendspace.com/file/oe8in1This one is really faithful to the base/mass combat rules of Chainmail, but it doesn't have the man-to-man, fantasy combat rules, or fantasy units. Since those didn't need to be metricised, I guess the guy who did this didn't feel it was necessary to include them. Not sure who the author is, or where I got it from originally.
>>97710522That's the thing I made, anon. I'm the same guy It eventually evolved into this:https://hexhunt.itch.io/battleaxeIt was my initial attempt to extract the "essence" out of Chainmail to make it more beginner friendly, an an effort to understand the system better.
>>97710564Oh, I see! Then I can update my archive with this information. Sorry about the confusion, but the current incarnation is very different from your first one.Your first attempt is from 2015, right?
>>97710718No, anon, it can't be from 2015. It should be probably around 4-5 years ago. That's the time when I started to study the wargaming roots of rpgs. I didn't post it anywhere else, but here. >>97706162I think it'll be good. When i painted my imperial fists at 6mm they looked great with yellow and a wash plus some metal detail. The scale is really a blessing when it comes to painting as washes take care of almost everything. at 10mm i can't even see the layer lines unless i get close and look for them at .06 layer height. When i get to the painting stage ill probably post in the WIP thread. >>97706541No tree supports needed. The infantry from forestdragon are actually designed to print without supports thankfully. The crossbow came with the resin supports in the download. luckily the models are small and light enough that if i don't fuck up the settings and keep the filament dry the resin supports will be enough.

what do you use to flock large areas in such a way that it looks good and remains sturdy?I've used static grass with a static grass applicator for a 6x4 table once. Looks really nice, but I wonder how well it actually holds up, it was also a mess to do
>>97710735You have to fix/cure it with lots of watered down PVA sprayed on.I recommend rather using oldschool/railway flock from sawdust though.
>Blood Axes interacted with humans extensively, and picked up some of our ways, such as using camouflage and attack patternsOkay, then why are there no Orkz who picked up other races' ways? Why are there no Orkz talking about the Orkish Good or the Path of Mork? I can understand there being nothing to learn from Necrons or Tyranids.
>>97707026If you squint hard enough the Evil Sunz and their related Kult of Speed have certain similarities with the Eldar. The ES use vehicles to get their boyz into position and provide heavy support but, being Orkz, get a bit too enthusiastic about the fighting to do the tactical repositioning part. The KoS are the fast attack elements, such as the Saim Hann Wild Riders and other jetbike users, but again with the Orkish habit of getting into close combat rather than using hit and run tactics.

>>97707079its partially because the series is human-centric by design and everything that happens is based on how much it affects humanity specificallythings like eldar vs necron or tau vs chaos are either just interesting footnotes (its a continuation of the war on heaven, so its worth a mention) or are used in relation to how it affects the empire (imperium having a laugh at the taus feeble attempts to achieve diplomacy with chaos)
